I got the TP-Link AX3000-PRO Wi-Fi 6 Router as an attempt to fix a NAT-ing problem for one of my media remote streaming setups and it worked beautifully. I paired it with my Gigabit fiber Internet and set it up with the same SSID and passphrase so my 30+ Wi-Fi devices don’t have to be reconfigured. The setup went smoothly, I like it that TP-Link still allows you to set up the router via a web browser instead of just a smartphone App, though the Tether app is easy to use as well. Once the basic setup steps were done, upgrading the firmware was one of the very first steps that happens and takes less than a minute to complete. You can enable automatic updates as well. My main interest remains in the WiFi 6 vs. 5 performance and range coverage compared to my ISP provided router. For my main tests I used a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra running the latest patch level of Android 12. Here are my test results: In the same room as the router: 5 GHz 447 Mbps down / 735 Mbps up One floor above and about 20 feet over from the router. 5 GHz 385 Mbps down / 670 Mbps up I also ran multiple speed tests from Ethernet wired win10 and win11 PCs and got ~ 950 Mbps down / 980 Mbps up! Those were the best results I’ve seen compared to all other routers I’ve tested over the last couple of years. This TP-Link AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 router covers all 3 floors of the house quite well thanks to Beamforming technology and 4 antennas. The speed went down to just under 200 Mpbs in the sunroom which is sticking out of the house in the furthest corner away from the router. This router is compatible with the OneMesh technology of TP-Link range extenders, so that’s what I’ll try next to get faster WiFI speed farther away from the router and into the back yard. From a security perspective, it supports WPA 3, and comes with HomeShield Advanced Security that includes Home Network real-time scanner and parental controls on top of the built-in firewall. Another great feature is the USB 3.0 port that allows you to share files from an external USB hard drive or thumb drive to other devices on your home network and even over the Internet with the correct network security settings. In conclusion, this TP-Link AX3000 Pro Wi-Fi 6 router is a well performing and affordable model with a very easy setup, smartphone App, and just the right features as well as range expansion via OneMesh extenders.

This is probably the best router I have ever owned. Super Easy to set up. The app is really helpful to get the right security, VPNs, Limit access times (to keep the kids off at bedtime) and give priority to particular devices on separate bands and enough bandwidth for all your devices in your home. Its easy to do through the app even for the most novice user. Latency through LAN is minimal to none and the WiFi is great if you set it up in the proper location and the range is outstanding. I stream live and game stream (Via LAN) and I have 3 TVs connected and 2 phones over WiFi, and this thing doesn't bat an eye. My service is for 500mbps and I get all of that and more. Highly recommended especially at this price point.

    Beats Your ISP

My partner and I recently moved and set up internet service with an ISP that supports gig internet. We opted for their 1 gig plan. Where we made the mistake was also opting for the ISP’s modem/ router combo. My partner and I are both moderate desktop gamers and we struggled to maintain stable wireless connections. Keep in mind we live in an apartment currently with an office that is only about 20-30 feet from our router and through one wall. This led to some frustrating evenings over the past few months with game lag, dropped Discord calls, etc. We discussed running Ethernet cables through our living room to our gaming rigs, but decided to try out a better router first. Hiding cables along walls just seemed like a lot of work for a space that we will not be in permanently. We will absolutely do this once in an actual house. Since swapping our ISP’s modem/ router combo for the TP Link AX3000, pretty much all of our problems have been solved. Setup was very easy through the Tether App. I really think just about anyone could do it with the step by step instructions that include pictures. All of our devices automatically connected as we kept the same (custom) SSID and password. Those 24 devices, including our gaming rigs most importantly, have all maintained strong connections at ranges that far exceed our needs. My phone is still connected to WiFi (granted not well) when I go to get the mail, which I would estimate is 30-40 yards from our apartment. I do feel future-proofed with this router considering its range, WiFi 6 speed, and OneMesh compatibility. It suits our current needs without breaking the bank by having to go out and buy a dedicated gaming router or struggling to tuck cables under baseboards. While the title of my review sets a pretty low bar, the AX3000 far exceeds it. This router is miles better than one you might get from your ISP and I would absolutely recommend it!

comes at a very good price. I am not an IT professional, this is easy to set up and fast enough for my household of four. good coverage and I was able to get around 350-420 Mbps download. Good speed for the price point.

I use to have a edge router 4. Thought it would be great to have something with so many "bells and whistles" but it was so complicated to setup for the first and second time. I ended up replacing it with this router. Worth the money in my experience. Easy setup, able to do setup on PC or mobile, lets you have your own and guest network, and so much more. TP-link has not failed me once with any of their products and I would recommend this hands down.

This router which connects back to the Verizon ONT via ethernet and this router replaced my Verizon FIOS router. With the Verizon router my wireless speeds were 20 mb up and 20 mb down. With this router the wireless speeds went to 90mb down and 100 mb up. The range of this router is excellent. So far a very good router and hope it stays that way.

Really happy with this purchase. I wanted something that would go through a block farmhouse and still reach out to the barn, which is about 200ft at least. It does exactly that. The signal is at 2 or 3 bars when 200ft away. Very easy to set up and really fast.

Works great. Has the best ever phone ap to adjust router settings on the go. It lacked the lower WEP security settings in the standard 5G and 2.4 G settings so I has to resort to a guest mode setting for an old fashioned picture frame. Glad to have it. Came from coverage on a best buy protection plan. Covered a cable modem, Tv and router after a massive lightning strike. Achieved incremental upgrades on all the replacements... Keeping the BestBuy protection for at least another year. The surge potected device did mot do it's job. The lightinging pulse / imbalance maded it way though the cable modem, a router, and an ethernet line connected Tv. When the last strom rolled through I disconnected the cable modem from the cable and powered down the modem and router. The TV was isolated to receive local TV via an antenna while running on a surge protector. Protect your stuff best you can. It took a many hours to regen a modem and retrain a router to talk to all our junk. Financially a bit ahead of BestBuy on the warranty.

Upgraded when I got Fiber Internet. I had been using a Netgear Orbi Mesh, about 4 years old. This router has almost as good of a signal in my farthest reaches of my home as what I achieved with the mesh Orbi. This is simple to set up and very fast. Highly recommended!

I like its stability, speed (nothing extraordinary but no bad surprises), and some of its features (e.g. allow-list access conctrol, VPN client with per-device enablement, and more). What could give it 5 stars: - A smoother setup process (this is not about the need for expertise; it's about the given step-by-step process not working) - A mobile device app that can control all or most (and not just a small subset) of the features - Allow-list UI that shows recently denied devices for quick selection For a 6 stars out of 5, add: - Support for multiple VPN clients active concurrently (not just configured ready to be selected) with per-device control of through which device goes through which VPN client

I recently upgraded to the TP-Link AX3000, and it has been a noticeable improvement over my previous router. The Wi-Fi 6 performance is impressive—faster speeds, stronger coverage, and much more stable connections throughout the house. Even with multiple devices streaming, working, gaming, and using smart home equipment at the same time, the network remains smooth with no drops. Setup was incredibly easy using the Tether app, and the interface is clean and straightforward. I also appreciate the advanced features like OFDMA, beamforming, guest network options, and parental controls, which are usually found on more expensive routers. The range is excellent and covers my entire home, including corners where I previously had weak signal. For the price, the AX3000 delivers outstanding value, reliability, and modern Wi-Fi 6 capability. If you’re looking to upgrade your home network without overspending, this router is definitely a great choice. Highly recommended!

    Very strong 5Ghz band!

The AX3000 Pro has been rock solid since I installed it. Also added three AX3000 RE715X extenders to create a mesh network. This router and the extenders have 5Ghz channels that are just as powerful as the 2.4GHz bands. And even through walls measured with a wifi strength app on my phone. My house is almost 100 feet long and with the extenders i have consistent 5Ghz connections too all my devices. One extender is over 40 feet away from the router and through a wall and a floor. Yet I still get measured 380+ Mbps speeds to my phone connected to this extender and through yet another wall. My service is 400 Mbps and is all I need and the wifi can handle all of that speed most of the time. 5Ghz connections everywhere even 40 feet away from the house outside. And my house is 2x6 construction. Its paired with an Arris S33 Cable modem using the 2.5G WAN ethernet port on both. Also the router itself is in my basement... not ideal but still a strong signal strength. Highly recommended!

I'm a computer tech and installed this in a single story 1,700 sq. ft house. It was very easy to log into and setup the wireless network name and password. I used the same one as the old router so everything would connect back automatically. The router was located about mid point in the house so it had a great signal throughout the house. The incoming internet speed was 600Mbps and when checking it on my phone I was getting 550Mbps. The customer previously had an issue with an LG TV buffering, along with an HP laptop and Amazon kindle device that would not see the Century Link router but this router solved all of the problems. We set this up with an Arris Surfboard SB6019 modem with Sparklight as the internet provider. This new setup solved all of the problems and worked great. This is a very good router for a smaller house. The wireless connections were solid.

I never set up a modem or router before. Wanted to get rid of the monthly cable gateway fee. Stopped in BestBuy for this and the Motorola MB8611. I had zero issues. Works better than the ISP provided and extremely easy set up and that’s coming from someone that’s never done this before. Very respectable performance for the money. My family loves the family TV time very evening watching different streaming shows and with it and no issues whatsoever.
