Cumbersome and slow troubleshooting support

There was likely something wrong with the unit (but, never did find out what), and it was taking a long time (3-days and multiple calls and emails with support) to go through their escalation protocol. At some point I just gave up and returned the unit to the store and purchased a competitive product that was on the shelf. That installation and startup went smoothly and quickly.

Cheap way to future proof your internet

Considering it's a future proof router with WiFi -7. The wife speed difference is notable and the 2gs+ download speeds for Fiber optic cable is worth it alone.

I'm getting 2.5g straight through, wifi is great and seems stable enough for me for normal home use (gaming, surfing, tv, doomscrolling, voip/voice etc).

This handles it all with ease, i get 1.8gbps download and 1.7gbps upload through the wifi. Has good range, can prioritize certain devices. Dont have any wifi 7 devices yet, but when i do id imagine the speeds will be even better

AVOID TP-LINK

It constatnly disconnects and times out while trying to play games online. I have spent hours in chat and email with TP Link and all I do is jump through hoops so they don't have to warranty the defective item. I have had to do multiple DNS changes, MAC clones, factory resets, send them system logs, etc and they still will not warranty this piece of junk

Additionally, we recommend checking whether your existing Internet source device is a standalone modem or ONT, or if it is a modem + router combination gateway. If the latter, a double-NAT condition may be present, which can lead to network anomalies. In such cases, we suggest configuring the Internet source device in "bridge" or "modem-only" mode, allowing the Archer Router to serve as the network's gateway and removing the double NAT condition.
