the 2.4ghz speed is kinda useless for my mobile devices even on 60 Mbps download speeds. Once I was on the 5ghz, my phone and tablet work fine.

Bought this to increase signal to the back of the house as the modem/router combo wasn't very strong. I opted for this instead of a booster as my modem/router was only wireless-N. The coverage is much better and I get full speed through the house.

Highest speed only 100 mps not 300

The Archer C50 only gives 100 mps, not 300. Which may be fast enough for you but I have 200 mps available. Check it's specs and you will see its interface is 10x100.

      Hi Figaro,

Thank you for your review. In order to provide customers with options that best fit their networking needs, we offer a variety of products. For customers who subscribe to Internet speed plans of 100Mbps or less, and utilize a large number of simultaneous wireless devices, this router will perform exceptionally. However, for Internet speeds plans that exceed 100Mbps, the Archer C1200 has similar features but also includes wired Gigabit Ethernet ports that support speeds of up to 1000Mbps.

My orginal wifi was too slow and the 5Ghz did the trick for me. You need a newer computer that has dual band. I have 50Mbs on my provider and the internet speed test for the 5 Ghz about 40 ft away gave me about 44-46Mbs. Almost as fast at a LAN cable.

I have only used this router for a few weeks. So far the speed is excellent. The range is more than sufficient for a two story house. Not sure about long term reliability, although I had a TP Link in the past that lasted a few years before I upgraded.

Was looking to replace an old router. I was having trouble getting a reliable signal on the 2nd floor of the house, as well as any signal at all in the basement. The cable guy suggested upgrading the router. I didn't want to spend a lot, but the cable guy said any newer router would probably offer some improvement. This router immediately fixed all my problems on the 2nd floor, and after a little antennae adjustment, the basement problem was fixed as well. The dual band is a plus; I use the 5 on my tv that is close to the router and the speed and picture are great! I also like having a guest network option to offer to my mother's caregivers.

Perfect for SOHO and/or Dorm Rooms

This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. If you're looking for a basic, easy to use router with great coverage & performance OR you're looking to upgrade to the blazing speeds of 802.11ac, the Archer C50 is for you! I found the Archer C50 to be perfect for dorm rooms, small houses & apartments. The dual band WiFi speed & coverage are very impressive, considering the price point. However, the addition of (4) Fast Ethernet & (1) USB ports makes this little guy entirely too hard to pass up! I was able to game, stream (video and/or music), browse, & make video calls with ease. A word of caution though, if you're providing WiFi for more than 2 people or are in an area swamped with WiFi networks, this router isn't for you. You simply just need to look at a more powerful model in the Archer series.

When I received the TP-Link Archer C50 and opened the box I thought to myself "What is this little thing going to do!?" "Its so little compared to any of the other routers I have owned!" But I was sure mistaken! Do not let the size of it discourage you because it keeps up with a lot of other routers on the market today. The Archer C50's WiFi speeds are Amazing! It can preform simultaneously on the 2.4GHz band up to 300Mbps and on the 5GHz band up to 867Mbps for a total bandwidth of 1.2Gbps. I have not had any issues at all with it at all. It let me use multiple devices without any internet lag or drops. Installing and setting up is quite easy with the included Quick installation Guide and the convenient Web browser utility. It only took me about 10 minutes to get up and running. I choose to mount the Archer C50 on the wall but it can also be laid flat on a desk or shelf. The Archer C50 is a beautiful shiny black with 2 grey dual band antennas. The antennas do not come off. I love the green lights on it. Most of my devices have blue lights so having the green is a nice change. It has 4 of the 10/100Mbps LAN Ports and 1 USB 2.0 Port. The USB port can be used for Remote access via FTP Server, Media sharing, Local storage sharing, and Printer sharing. It also has options for setting up Guest networks, and Parental controls. There is a convenient "Tether" app that you can download for accessing the Archer C50 from your iOS or Android device. . If you are wanting to move up to an 802.11ac Dual band router from your old Wireless 802.11n router than this would be ideal. This is a perfect router for anyone and you can't beat the price.Overall I am impressed with the size, quality, and speed and will be certainly be recommending the Archer C50 to my family and friends. This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program.

    Inexpensive router with nice features

The AC1200/C50 is a no frills easy setup wireless router. The AC1200 is a simple product, this is not for the high-end user. This product if for the casual user that needs Wi-Fi at a low cost. The AC1200 is smaller than most home routers. You'd think with the size you would have to sacrifice some features this is not the case. The AC1200 still has guest networks, good speed and some limited parental controls. The wired switch is not gigabit, but if you have a limited wired lan this will be just fine. The setup is pretty straight forward plug it in and connect to it via Wi-Fi, the SSID and the initial password are printed on the bottom of the unit. Connect to the Wi-Fi and visit http://tplinkwifi.net/ in your browser. I could not visit the configuration page via IP address because my cable modem has the same IP range. Follow the onscreen instructions and you're done. Just make sure you pick good strong passwords. Submitted as part of a free sample program.
