Easy Setup, Good Value Dual Band Router

I followed the Quick Installation Guide included in the box to set up this Archer C7 v4.0 AC1750 router. After I plugged it in and the LEDs confirmed connectivity, it was incredibly smooth and easy to configure using the TP-Link mobile Tether app. Then I logged into the web interface at http://192.168.0.1 to view the advanced settings. Instead of using a local account I also chose the option of binding it to my TP-Link cloud account for remote management. I found an available firmware upgrade and applied it, 1.0.3 Build 20170609 rel. 53316 (5553). This dual band router gave me a reliable signal with consistent throughput over a moderate range, making it a good product at a reasonable price that's perfect for an apartment or small home office. The features are ideal for my needs, from sharing a printer and USB file server to supporting QoS, VPN, and Parental Controls. I particularly like the ability to enable a guest network for visitors without allowing them to see each other or my own network. I can view and manage connected devices with either the app or web interface. This review was submitted as part of a free sample program.

Reliable Performance with Plenty of Features

This is one of the smallest, lightest, and cheapest AC1750 Wi-Fi routers I have used. The C7 does not draw much power, which is a nice bonus. This is also apparent in the temperature of the unit when I have multiple devices attached, as it barely gets warm to the touch. Setup was very straightforward on this Wi-Fi router. I do recommend updating the firmware to the latest version before you configure it, which saves you from having to do it again after the update. The latest version also seems to be a lot more stable overall. The C7 has all the modern and advanced features you would expect to find in an AC1750 Wi-Fi router. I like that these includes two USB ports, perfect for a print server and attaching an external hard drive to. The 4 Ethernet ports are also Gigabit speed! In terms of performance, the C7 works very well. The 3 antennas provide great coverage and range. I found that having the outer antennas at a 45 degree angle and the middle antenna standing straight up, worked best for me. I am also getting really good speeds with near hardwired speeds when the C7 is in line of site. Overall the C7 has been very stable and reliable. The advanced features in a small and simple form factor are its biggest strengths. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

    3 router connection options

What makes this router more advanced than other wi-fi routers is that you can connect to it via an app on my smartphone called Tether app (pic 01). Just makes things easier and more convenient for me and my family. I'm used to connecting via web browser so I had to consult the manual and it was a quick setup process. This Archer C7 router also has 2 USB LED plug ins, which I can connect my external drives directly to so I can open documents or print files or pictures quickly (pic 02). Good wifi range for my 2-story house. Sufficient connectivity overall & haven't experienced the inconsistencies others have with this router. Also like how much thinner & less bulky this router is compared to my older TP-link router. Well recommended. Submitted as part of sample program.

    Fast Midrange AC router

The AC1750/C7 is a midline home router. The C7 is pretty straight forward, but could be a lot for a novice to use. Think of this router when you want more flexibility with your network. The AC1750 has some nice features and includes 2 USB2.0 ports for backups, filesharing or a print server. The AC1750 has guest networks, good speed and some limited parental controls. The wired switch is gigabit a must in todays advanced home networks. The setup is pretty straight forward plug it in and connect to it via Wi-Fi, the SSID and the initial password are printed on the bottom of the unit. Connect to the Wi-Fi and visit http://tplinkwifi.net/ or http://192.168.0.1 in your browser. Follow the onscreen instructions and you’re done. Just make sure you pick good strong passwords. The setup interface seems a little dated when compared to some other models. However most people don’t spend much time in their routers setup so it’s really not an issue. The Wi-Fi speed is good, I had no difficulty streaming Netflix or Amazon video to my phone, while our smart TV did the same thing. The three antennas make for some good coverage. Nice product with nice features! Submitted as part of a free sample program.

Good Router, Works very well, Great Wi-Fi Range

This device is easy and quick to setup. The quick start guide is easy to follow. I was able to get it up and running within five minutes. This router is fast and powerful. This powerhouse can provide fast and reliable both wired and wireless internet. I have been having this device setup for few days and it has been running up and strong. I haven’t had any issues with this device. I did not have to restart the device once. I am very impressed with the reliability of the device. I have 2800sqft home and it provides Wi-Fi coverage to almost entire house without any extra extender or access point. The router comes with two USB port. I used one of the USB port to connect my hard drive to make it available for all the computers to use it as network drive. The other USB port was used to connect my USB printer as network printer. The convenience was very handy for both network hard drive and the network printer. I am really happy with the router and so far I don’t have any complaint or concern about the router. The reliability is similar to its competitor and it is cost effective as well. I highly recommended this router. Submitted as part of free sample program.

This lower end router really proved to be a workhorse. It works on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. It instantly gave me excellent performance on 802.11ac connection. I’ve connected my USB printer to one of C7’s USB ports, and was able to share my wired printer among all my wired and wireless computers. Also, I was able to connect my WD external hard drive to its second USB port, and it became a network share allowing me to instantly share files among all computers and other devices including my media player. This router also allowed me to create guest network, so I don’t have to give out my WiFi access info and can isolate my devices from visitors. The router has support for OpenVPN and PPTP VPN built in, which allows secure access to my home computers and files from the internet when I am not at home. Some other features that I find useful include QoS, parental controls and offline downloads. The setup was very quick and I was on-line within a few minutes. The unit looks solid, and has 3 detachable antennas.

After finding out that to setup a new 4k Smart tv, I would need a new AC router, to replace a balky, tired 8 yr. old N router. After reading reviews I chose this one because of TP Link's size & reputation. It also added more speed, & I did NOT want the bare minimum 1200. At 69, I wanted to "futureproof" myself, if possible. The installation was relatively EZ, except for a hard to understand their accent customer service rep. After WAY TOO LONG, he finally asked me to switch the leads & VOILA, we were in business. SO now we have a Smart TV, a printer, a new laptop & an 8 yr old netbook, as well as the cable tv box all hooked up, and all were EZ. I am in NO way Tech-savvy & would recommend this unit to anyone. My price wound up in the mid-sixties, due to Best Buy's Trade-in Recycling program, which I advise you utilize'

    Super Easy Setup

I have setup many WiFi routers, and this by far is the easiest and fastest one I have ever done so far. It took maybe less than 5 minutes in all. It pretty much does everything on it's own as long as you follow the illustrated instructions. Once you log into the web interface in only takes seconds to have it up and running after you set up an account. Of course if you want to go into more specific account settings such as parental controls and QoS priority, it will take a bit more time. The only difference with the Archer C7 and C8 is that the C7 does not have a 3.0 USB port. Other than that, all the other features all all the same. The only reason it loses a star is because the 5.0 GHz band does not seem as strong as the 2.4GHz. I have a strong 5 bar on the 2.4, but only get 3 bars at the most on the 5.0 GHz. Customer Service is Worse Than Failing Product

I bought this product in January 2016 and for the first 18 months it worked great. Then after the 18 months, it started disconnecting and having an inconsistent signal, which is awful for someone who WFH. One minute the signal is excellent and the next it barely exists. Over the past 2 months, I have been on the phone 10+ times with customer representatives in China and the US who gave me several suggestions. None of the suggestions work. It took 2 months and 3 open tickets to get them to ship a refurbished wifi router that wasn't much better than what I bought. The final straw was yesterday when the customer service rep, after 15 minutes of giving me repeated suggestions, said "download a wifi analyzer and call back another time." *Click*. I will never buy another TP-Link product again. Garbage product followed by garbage customer service.

This works great for what we needed it for. We had a router that worked fine, but when my son moved into the trailer behind our house, our internet wouldn't reach up there so he could use his pc up there. So he asked a tech guy who has a small computer shop in the area, who suggested this router. It works pretty darn good! He can now link up to our wireless network and get on his pc. He's very happy. I'm surprised it worked this good since we live in the boonies with lots of trees and brush around. The trailer is 75 feet behind the house, so if you need something like we needed in our situation, I highly recommend this router. If it works this good outside of the house, imagine how good it will work inside a house for dead spots!

Gave up after trying four of these routers

Purchased 1st one and it lasted 28 days. Contacted TP-LINK support and after 30 minutes of trying their suggestions they said the router was defective and to return. Purchased 2nd one and it would not get past the power light, returned. Purchased 3rd one and it would not get past the power light. Contacted TP-LINK support and after 15 minutes of trying their suggestions they said the router was defective and to return. Purchased 4th one from a different store. It worked for 30 minutes until I cycled power on it. Then I could only get the power light and the two GHz lights. Contacted TP-LINK support and after 90 minutes of trying their suggestions they said the router was defective and to return. Went back to my old reliable D-Link router for now. Will never purchased another TP-LINK product.

I bought my first TP Link a month ago based on so many wonderful reviews, including the New York Times. I noticed right away how cheap the router felt. Like one drop on the floor would shatter the device. Not that I am in the habit of dropping routers. Within two weeks it died. No lights, no start and stop, just dead. I decided to give TP Link another shot and returned the old one for a new one and this one, although it hasn't died, is HORRIBLE. I get a dropped signal multiple times and hour. Their customer service is TERRIBLE. Not only that, the line is often busy, and the hold time to speak to someone can easily take 20 minutes. Once an operator comes on, they are inexperienced, constantly putting me on hold to check with other people. DO NOT BUY TP LINK!

Set this up for my in-laws after they switched cable companies, and their new ISP tried to charge them extra for wifi. For years they had their modem/router on the top floor of the house, which made wifi access difficult from the den two floors down. Their current setup is now modem plus the TP-Link Archer C7 router one floor down near their main living area, broadcasting centrally to every point in the house. Also combined this setup to a TP-Link Powerline kit so their desktop PC upstairs have 100% reliable connection. I thought about spending more for a higher-end router, but they simply won't need the data and power that comes with something more expensive. This router is simple, secure, and fast. So far very reliable.

The nice thing about this router is the size as it isn't a behemoth like some other routers in the market. The setup was pretty easy and the router seemed to be pretty stable and reliable on the most current firmware available at the time. The router does feature gigabit ports as well as USB ports for connecting external drives or printers. Overall the performance and coverage was pretty good for a router in this price range. I have 20+ IP devices at any given time on my network and did not suffer any type of slow down or degradation of service. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

Awesome for SOHO use, easy to configure

    Posted
    AH96

To start, the instructions for this router are good enough that a beginner should be able to configure it with minimal effort. This is a wonderful SOHO router that will provide adequate speed for almost any average home or small office and is simple to set up even for those who have minimal experience in doing so. The router comes at a very reasonable cost considering the fairly lengthy feature set. The inclusion of AC technology is also a plus, especially for crowded apartment complexes. When I upgraded my phone to 5G wifi reception on the first floor would drop in and out. The TP Link Archer 7 is setup at a second floor location same as my prior router but I now have consistent wifi reception among all the first floor devices. Setup was easy. I am not sure that the three attached antenna have any effect on reception as they seem to just flop around. Overall I am happy with the router.

This simple to use router is and has great speeds. The AC1750 provides 450Mbps while on the 2.4GHz network and 1300Mbps while on the 5GHz band. It works great with my Spectrum 100/10 speed and have 6 devices connected without any issues. The device also looks pleasing when placed in my office. I also like the dual USB ports as I can share my files to other people connected to network. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

    Good Extender for the price.

This is a pretty good extender, have tried other extender and this one is pretty straight forward to use, plug setup and move to ideal location. The LAN connection is fair but the wi-fi is pretty reliable doesn't drop or lose connection. Change IP address on my modem and reconfiguring wasn't bad as long as you follow the instructions or hit the reset button to restart over.

This router performs well given the price and achieves very fast wireless speeds using the AC channel. The range is fair with bars dropping at the outer edges of my 1200 sq ft house. Setup was easy and the TP-Link interface is very simple, yet lets you dive in deep to advanced settings if needed. Choose this router if you have a smaller space and need fast wifi speeds.
