Hi GRodriguez,
Thank you for your review. If you haven't noticed a significant improvement in Wi-Fi coverage after installing the extender, try relocating it to a spot in your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong, yet far enough from the router to extend its range effectively. Please make sure the RE status LED is indicating a solid connection.
We also recommend ensuring the extender's firmware is fully up to date using the steps outlined in FAQ 1406 on our official website: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1406/
If you would like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

I received the TP-Link BE6500 Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender in White. Seems to be well made and durable.
Easy to setup just plug in and then easily set up via the WPS button or the Tether App.
Works with EasyMesh routers and range extenders to form seamless whole home Mesh Wi-Fi, preventing drops and lag when moving between signals
Works with all Wi-Fi generations and devices and all internet providers, walk from room to room and stay connected with the fastest possible speeds.
Has a Lightning-Fast 6.5 Gbps Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7: 5764 Mbps (5 GHz) + 688 Mbps (2.4 GHz).
Multi-Link Operation (MLO): Increases throughput, reduces latency, and improves reliability for emerging applications
Has 4 External Antennas, WPS button, Reset button, a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet Port.
I had a dead zone in my kitchen for Wi-Fi signal. and this extender has seem to help with that issue. I am very pleased with the product, does what it is suppose to do.
I would highly recommend to anyone needing a Wi-Fi extender for their home.

I’ve been looking at signal extenders for a few months, debating which one to get. Been looking at this one in particular, since I have a TP router. Glad I got it! This was a breeze to set up. Literally plug in, hit a button on the router, a button on the extender, count to 100, and it’s synced and ready to go! No complicated menus. No apps required (but you can use the tether app), and it just works. That’s a marvel to behold in this day of overcomplicating things. Now my 6e and WiFi7 network extend out to my back patio effortlessly. The extender plugs into the wall and is fairly unobtrusive. I really don’t know what else to say about it. My other devices found it easily with a quick network refresh and went from one bar signal to 4 bars. It incorporates all the great features of wifi7 and helps my existing network fully cover my house (built in the 1930’s and built out of materials that absorb or block WiFi signals). Overall, I’m very impressed with this extender, and would recommend it to anyone wanting an inexpensive way to get a little extra kick out of their WiFi network.

I recently set up the TP-Link BE6500 Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. This device has truly transformed my home network experience. Setup was incredibly simple thanks to the TP-Link Tether app, and I had it up and running within minutes. The instructions were clear, and the extender immediately integrated with my existing router.
The performance is outstanding. With Wi-Fi 7 technology, the speeds are blazing fast and consistent throughout my entire home. I used to struggle with weak signals in certain rooms, especially upstairs and in the backyard, but the BE6500 eliminates all dead zones. Streaming 4K videos, gaming online, and video conferencing are all smooth and buffer-free now—even with multiple devices connected simultaneously.
The design is sleek and minimal, blending nicely into any room without being an eyesore. I also appreciate the advanced features like the Ethernet port for wired connections and the intelligent signal indicator, which helped me find the best placement for optimal coverage.
TP-Link continues to deliver reliable and forward-thinking products, and the BE6500 is no exception. If you’re looking for a high-performance, future-proof range extender that’s easy to use and truly expands your Wi-Fi coverage, this is the one to get. Highly recommended!

This TP-Link BE6500 range extender was installed in my metal pole barn style garage as it has always been difficult to get a good signal while inside the garage. As with most TP-Link products, the setup was simple and easy, follow the Quick Installation Guide or use the QR code to watch the setup videos. Once it was setup, I moved it to the garage, plugged it into an outlet, confirmed that the LED turned blue, signaling that it was communicating with my router, and it was ready for devices to connect to it. My garage now has great WI-FI and the response time is great. The BE6500 has Wi-Fi 7 in it and is backwards compatible with previous Wi-Fi generations. It does have a built in lan port if you need to hard wire a pc, tv, or anything else you might need to. It can also function as an access point mode if you desire, simply hard wire the BE6500 to your router and it will provide Wi-Fi wherever you need it. This has worked well in my garage and has eliminated the dead zone that was there before. I am very happy with it and the Tether app lets you see all sorts of info that you can control. A great device that works well!

A Must Have Extender

I have had several TP LINK Wi-Fi products over the years and this is another top quality product from this company. I have a two story home but there are some dead spots that I needed help extending my signal to so my security cameras and game consoles would work in these hard to reach areas.
Setup for me was a breeze, the manufacturer makes it super easy. I plugged the extender into an outlet in the area I was wanting to boost my signal. I then downloaded the tether app to my mobile device and followed the on screen set up instructions. The app walks you through connecting the extender to your current Wi-Fi network. A few moments later I was all set up. It truly is that simple.
This extender has Multi-link operations (MLO) which allows for connections across multiple frequency bands. You will need a Wi-Fi 7 router to access this feature.
So far this has been a life saver and really increased my network throughout my home to all of my IOT devices.
I wish I had used one of these earlier and am glad I finally took the plunge. This is exactly what I needed.

I am loving this upgrade to my WiFi!
I’m a middle-aged woman living in a rural area where internet can be spotty, especially in the far corners of my home and out on the porch. Our home is around 4500 square feet and has stone walls throughout-making connections difficult sometimes. The TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender has made a big improvement in the signal from our main router, and I’m happy to say it works wonderfully. My husband hasn’t been kicked off our WiFi since we installed it and that makes for a happy house!
Setup was easier than I expected (I’m not the most tech-savvy), and the instructions were clear. I use it mainly to get better signal in my kitchen and upstairs bedroom — both of which were dead zones before. Now I can stream shows, video call my kids, and even get decent internet in the backyard.
It’s compact and blends in well with the house. I love that I didn’t have to run any extra wires. For anyone living out in the country like me, this extender makes a big difference.

I tried using a multi-node mesh network a while ago (not by TP-Link). When it worked, it worked great. But the problem was at least one of the nodes would disconnect about every week or so, forcing me to reboot. That made it really annoying to deal with and I ended up getting rid of it. So I decided to give this range extender a try which is a less complicated solution for extending wifi coverage.
Set up was relatively easy. For some reason, I could not get the WPS link set up to work…not sure if it was because of the range extender or the Xfinity router. But after a couple of failed tries, I then followed the instruction’s suggestion of downloading the TP-Link Tether app. From there, it was straightforward.
The range extender by default generates a new SSID for devices to connect to, but the SSID uses the name of the original SSID appended by “_EXT”. If your router is EasyMesh compatible, you can alternatively reuse the same SSID as your router without the appended extension. I prefer keeping the appended extension so I can ensure the farther out devices will connect with the range extender instead of trying to reach the router with a weaker signal. Of course, it meant changing the wifi network name on my various smart locks and switches, which was a bit of a pain. There is also a single ethernet port if you want to attach a device by cable. That’s what I did with my TV which connects to wifi slowly and unreliably.
Naturally, the connectivity speed via the extender is reduced compared to connected straight to the router. But this seems to be offset by the fact that my remote devices no longer need to tax the router with weak direct connections. So overall, response time is better and more stable.
So far the extender has been reliable. Assuming it stays that way, this is a great way to get better wifi coverage.

Review for
TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender
Our house has a cable modem on the main floor that provides a good WiFi signal to most of the house. While the signal on our lower floor is almost as good, the reception on the upper floor is often spotty. I thought the TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender might be what I needed and I was right.
Installation was pretty quick and easy. I just needed to connect the cable modem with the extender by plugging them both in near each other. The extender created its own sub-network and then I could move it to its real location upstairs. Once there, the extender improved the WiFi reception tremendously. The documentation suggested locating the unit halfway between the router and the “dead” zone area, rather than in the dead zone area itself and this seemed to be very good advice. Moving the extender too far from the modem made the reception in the dead zone worse.
The extender uses the most current WiFi 7 protocols which worked to maintain better throughput from my existing WiFi 7 system, although the extender says it is backward compatible with any generation of WiFi.
Easy to install, easy to set and forget about. It just works.

Tough spot

Reviewing a range extender is tough because there’s basically two things to review. 1. Ease of setup. 2. Range extension. Unfortunately this only shines in one area so let’s talk about it.
Out of the box, this is nothing special. Packaging is run of the mill and includes the range extender, instructions, an Ethernet cord, and two disclosure forms.
The instructions are fine for setup but seem a little… cheap or outsourced if you know what I mean.
For the most part, this should be plug and play. You plug in the device near your router and follow the rest of the instructions. How close to the router? Who knows. But “close”. Unfortunately, with the size of this device, and the kind of awkward placement and three-prong plug that can only be placed upright, you’d only ever use ot on the upper of the 2 outlets. Unfortunately for me it isn’t compatible with my other large A/C plug that was already being used so I had to rearrange things.
The instructions give a few options on how to finalize the setup after plug in, one is by pairing it with your router. My EERO router doesn’t have that option. Soo swing and a miss.
Option #2 is to download the Tether App. Not ideal as I’m swamped with apps, but fine. Long story short here is the app isn’t TOO complicated but it’s also poorly done and kept having me cycle through instructions endlessly until I’d just go back to the start and the things claiming weren’t done, were but the integration has tons of area to improve.
That said… frustrations and poor integration and app aside, once setup, this is really easy. The range extender so far has worked well without issue which is why we’re here.
In fact, I was impressed with the personalization on the app to turn down/off the LED lights, set them on a timer, have energy savings options, etc, that’s where this shines.
All said, it does the job, I’d recommend it with the caveat to expect frustrations with setup on the app.

This Is a direct plug into the wall extender. This posed a slight challenge for me due to most of my wall sockets are low and usually covered by furniture or entertainment system.
Set up was extreamly simple. I pushed the WPS Button on the router and the extender. Both synced with in minutes and the extender captured all the ghz bands it was designed for. I connected a few devices to check operation. A laptop, TV, cell phone and printer all worked fine and had decent speeds. BTW the extender will add a EXT to the WiFi SSID to ensure you are actually connected to the extender itself.
So I decided to check the actual connection and discovered the extender connects to the router with the 2.4ghz frequency, then allows a connection to the you devices via 2.4ghz or 5ghz. The problem I found after poking around is there is no 6ghz channeling. I also noticed WPA2 encription is set as default. I changed the encription to WPA3 (latest encription) via the extenders user interface.
With the 5ghz channels my lap top which is capable of 5870mbps only connected at 2880mbps, So I had to not use the extender and instead connect to the WiFi 7 router to get the 5870mbps connection. The extender, as far as I can tell from checking whats available in the extenderes user interface, there is no 6ghz band available. So I am a little puzzled. Perhaps I am missing something, but, I don't see it in the user interface. Don't be dismayed however, the extender has a solid steady connection and appears to be very stabil. My biggest take away is how well it set up and has had a consistent connection to the router.

Summary
-------
Simply a wonderful device. I have a Deco x55 mesh setup and this device works seamlessly as a range extender. Although my X55 is a Wifi 6, i think its great to have a device which is wifi 7 because in future if i upgrade my mesh to wifi 7, this one will still be a keeper
Pros
-----
1. Inexpensive
2. Works with any router setup
3. Easy to setup
4.
Cons
----
1. Wish it had more than 1 lan port
Details
-------
Its very easy to setup if you have a WPS switch on the router. All you just need to do is to push that button. since mine does not have a dedicated button, i can use the deco app to connect the extender.
You can also activate this through the website. '
Once activated, you can actually see this in t he deco app and it works seamlessly with the deco x55 system i have.
I have a desktop with poor wifi card and this really helped me to connect the desktop to the available lan port. However i wished that there are multiple lan ports in the extender.
Since this one is wifi 7 capable, i can be rest assured that this is future proof.

TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender

We have (2) eero max 7 mesh routers, and we have 50+ devices (light bulbs, plugs, Amazon Alexa and a few other devices), that utilize our network. (1) eero max 7 router states that it can handle 200+ devices and cover 2500 sq ft. We were having some issues with all our items remaining connected or poor connection issues and we have (2) eero max 7 routers in 2100 sq. ft.
We chose to try the TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender to see if we could add additional support to our eero system. The first issue we encountered was the eero max 7 routers do not have a WPS button which is required if you are attempting to complete a mesh system. Eero does not utilize WPS, for security purposes, they only use WPA2 and WPA3. If I’m not mistaken you can bridge the units, however I’ve not had good experiences doing so.
You can connect a TP-Link RE450 range extender to a Euro system mesh. However, it's important to understand that the RE450 is a range extender and not a true mesh device. It will extend the range of an existing Wi-Fi network, but it won't create a true mesh network with seamless roaming like an eero, or other non-TP-Link systems will, so you don’t have True Mesh Functionality.
The RE450 will act as a repeater, extending the existing Wi-Fi signal. It won't create a new, separate mesh network with its own SSID (Wi-Fi network name) and password.
TP-Link’s EasyMesh is designed for creating a true mesh network with seamless roaming. If you want a true mesh experience, you’ll have to consider using TP-Link's own EasyMesh compatible router(s).
We’re using the TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender attempting to extend our network, however we are getting very little addition to our signal. I’ve moved the TP-Link to multiple places in our home, and we are seeing an intermittent slight increase in signal strength with some of our devices.
With all that stated you must remember that there is the possibility of outside/inside interference such as signal noise that could be affecting our outcomes. Our home was wired with CAT5e cable which could be contributing slightly to noise interference. Our eero network is not consistent and could be contributing significantly to the operation of the BE6500.
I switched the eero network to (MLO) multi-link mode and the BE6500 to MLO. This appears to have given us a better connection to a couple of our outside devices.
The TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender appears to be well built and may have more advantages for you than it has had for us. The back of the BE6500 does get very hot, not sure if this is normal however it I something worth watching.

Hi djfr,
Thank you for your review. TP-Link Wi-Fi Range Extenders offer multiple setup methods for your convenience, including WPS, web-based, and app-based setup options.
True mesh functionality typically requires all nodes in the network to be of the same and/or compatible brand and product family. Wi-Fi Range Extenders excel at providing universal compatibility with general Wi-Fi extension. However, if you have a mesh system that utilizes proprietary technologies, features, protocols or apps, then it may require a node that is compatible with said proprietary elements for a full mesh experience.
For example, our Deco Mesh Systems offer seamless Wi-Fi mesh; however, to ensure you retain all of the full mesh features, Deco nodes should be used when extending an existing Deco system.
If you haven't noticed a significant improvement in Wi-Fi coverage after installing the extender, we recommend relocating the unit to a position within your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range. Please verify the RE status LED is indicating a solid connection.
