This system has been perhaps the easiest to setup in the last few years of trying different routers. I had no experience with mesh systems, and the Ecco is hassle free and intuitive.
It does run a bit hot, so they must be placed in well ventilated areas.
I have to figure out if the lights can be dimmer or turned off, but I haven't seen that option yet.
The performance is acceptable, but it is not amazing.
We haven't experienced any glitches or disconnections yet which is a huge plus.

The TP Link DECO BE3600 3 pack (WB10800) comes very well packaged. Look at how small the box is with everything that is included.
You start off with scanning the QR code on the box. This allows you to download the DECO app. In theory, the set up should be pretty straight forward. I tried with one unit and was not successful. I noticed there does not appear to be any difference between the units. They each have a unique name. Set up was still a struggle. I was successful with a different unit. So here is what I learned. Start up a unit and connect to it using your Wi-Fi first. Then use the DECO app to complete the set up. For each satellite unit, you want to plug it in close to the base station. After it is plugged in. you can complete the set up. Once the set up is complete, move the unit to the desired location. This worked for me. The main unit will be named with the room you identify for it. The other satellite units will be named Deco_XXXX. Connect to it via Wi-Fi to complete the set up. I used the same SSID as my previous router to ensure all of my devices connect properly.
I used the Deco app to update the firmware. Select within the APP, MORE > SYSTEM > UPDATE DECO. The firmware I updated to was 20240919.
I was excited to try Wi-Fi 7. This is supposed to be much better than my Wi-Fi 6 system. After the set up was complete, a speed test was performed in various location to compare to my old system. I was very disappointed. I placed the main unit and a satellite (wired) on the main floor. The third satellite (wireless) was situated on the upper floor. My house is about 2200 sf. I have cable internet at 500 Mbps. Here are the numbers:
Upstairs East – Before up/down 370/23. After 238/22.
Main West base unit – Before 540/24. After 589/23.
Main East (wired) – Before 290/24. After 205/23
As you can see, the speed did not really improve using a speed test. But a speed test is not the only measure. So I tried to use streaming apps and determine if there was an improvement as 4K video takes a lot of bandwidth. My perception was the old system was better than the new. I also had connectivity issues with printers and some other devices like a Roku. Overall, it was a lot of work trying to get this system to work properly. I guess it is possible this may work fine for you if you are starting from scratch. I was not. I can only speak from my personal experience. And you only have 2 1GB ethernet connections. As the backhaul is apparently best if you use a wired connection to your satellite this is an issue. If you were to connect the 2 satellites via a wired connection and the connection to the modem, that is 3 ethernet connections (modem, satellite 1 and satellite 2) needed. Not to mention I could not find a 6Ghz signal using my Wi-Fi Analyzer app on my Google Pixel 9 phone. I could see the 2.4 and 5Ghz signal. The 6Ghz signal was empty. Although Wi-Fi 7 includes the 6 Ghz band I could not find one.
Lastly, there are some security issues with TP Link. I encourage you to google it.
In summary, I rate this mesh system 2 out of 5 stars. I had multiple issues getting this set up correctly. Once it was set up, I had further issues. In the end, I removed the system and went back to my old wireless system.

For Deco there is no difference between the nodes. They all can be the main unit (router) or a satellite unit. It depends on which unit is first setup. This can also be changed in the app once setup is completed. The setup process you went through is exactly how we recommend setting up a Deco system. The satellite units copy the configuration from the main unit so having them close to the first unit to ensure a smooth transfer is ideal. For the speeds concern. There are several factors that can affect the speed of a network, even with Wi-Fi 7. If you feel you are not getting the adequate speeds we would recommend reaching out to our support division, who can walk you through troubleshooting steps and see if the concern is related to the product or service. For 6Ghz you may need to enable the band: Open Deco app > More > Wireless settings. If it is enabled and still not showing, especially if your client support 6 GHz, definitely reach out to support. For Security at TP-Link, security is not just a checkbox—it's a core pillar of our product strategy and corporate ethos. We fully acknowledge that vulnerabilities exist across the industry. However, contrary to claims of widespread vulnerabilities, comparative data places TP-Link on par with, or in some cases ahead of, other major industry players in terms of security outcomes. For example, public vulnerability data (sourced from recognized security repositories like CVE Details and VulDB) shows that TP-Link’s rate of vulnerabilities per product is significantly lower than those of other leading manufacturers. While vulnerability severity is important, we consistently address issues promptly. Those same sources show our average CVSS score—an industry-standard metric for vulnerability severity—is in line with other leading router and IoT manufacturers. This is a great match network system.
I always buy TP-link products but this one is the best to date.
Keep in mind that if you’re connecting your Lan to your previous wireless router when setting up the mesh system, you should select dynamic IP as the type of connection.
The set up is pretty easy takes less than five minutes

TP‑Link Deco dual‑band mesh is easy to setup and covers my whole home without dead spots. Speeds are solid for streaming and gaming across rooms. App is simple but lacks some advanced settings. Sometimes devices drop connection for a sec tho. Great value for strong whole‑house Wi‑Fi.

Feels good. Easy to install. Very reasonably priced. Fairly good quality connectivity. However, when I tried to use it in parallel with the router Spectrum provided, delay was noticeable. Should work seamlessly if used on its owne.

Set this up for my in-laws' house, which hadn't upgraded its network since they moved in 5 years prior. There was an immediate difference in internet speed. And I set myself as administrator so I can troubleshoot their problems from states away.

Setup was nice using the app, and the system seems good quality. However, we consistently were losing internet, eventually it was dropping out ever few minutes. Thought it could be the new Arris S34 modem, but a relative who does IT came and did hours of troubleshooting to identify these as the culprit. We learned that apparently the TP Link firmware can falsely detect routing error on Xfinity and then stops to rebuild the route. Bucked up extra for the eero 7 mesh system, so far no issues and speed went up as well. I guess you could use these TP link BE3600 as access points with a gateway or router on Xfinity but beware using it as the router

I was reluctant to buy based on previous reviews but I'm glad I did not listen. This product works great and as intended. It was also priced below similar products. I would defenitly buuy again if necessary.
