Live in a condo where wireless router (2.4/5g, 80/40Mb service) is approximately 50 feet away from computer separated by one floor but on same circuit. My old wireless N adapter on my PC was only giving me 20-30Mb down and 7-12Mb up, so I bought these to help. Upload increased to 17-20Mb, but download DECREASED to 13-19Mb. So I returned them and bought a Netgear Nighthawk Model A7000 WiFi USB 3.0 Dual Band Adaptor for about $20 more and BAM...problem fixed. Works like a charm giving me the full 80Mb down and about 35Mb up!

      Hi,

Thank you for sharing your experience with our Powerline Kit. Please bear in mind that the theoretical maximum channel data transfer rate of Powerline Adapters is derived from HomePlug AV specifications. Actual data transfer rates will vary due to network environment variables including: distance between adapters, network traffic, noise on electrical wires, building material and construction, quality of electrical installation and other adverse conditions.

First, please ensure both Powerline adapters are plugged directly into wall outlets - no surge protectors or power strips as these will directly interfere with the connection. We recommend following the suggestions outlined in our FAQ here to help optimize the performance of your Powerline connection: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-409.html

We'd love to follow up with you and answer any questions you might have. Please send an e-mail with your contact information and a link to this review to [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

Tried it in 4 different outlets, and only worked in one. Guess it has to do with how the house is wired (assuming it has to be on the same circuit breaker as the router). It seems to work well it that one outlet, but unfortunately, I'm limited on where in the house I can place it (which decreases it's utility in extending the network where I need it).

Power line adapters are hit or miss depending on the wiring of your house. Don't expect the max speeds advertised but it's good enough.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. Powerline network adapters need to be installed on the same main circuit (same circuit panel) to establish a Powerline connection. Installing the adapters in outlets that are on separate circuit panels will prevent connectivity.

Please bear in mind that Powerline data transfer rates will vary due to network environment variables including: distance between adapters, network traffic, noise on electrical wires, building material and construction, quality of electrical installation and other adverse conditions.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. Please note the TL-PA7010 Powerline kit is designed for Ethernet (wired) expansion and connectivity, not WiFi extension within your home. Powerline connectivity and data transfer rates will vary due to network environment variables including: distance between adapters, network traffic, noise on electrical wires, building material and construction, quality of electrical installation and other adverse conditions.

First, please ensure both Powerline adapters are plugged directly into wall outlets - no surge protectors or power strips as these will directly interfere with the connection.
