      Hi,

We always recommend ensuring your router's WiFi signal is adequately strong in the smart device's location. Within the Kasa Smart app there's a feature that allows you to measure WiFi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.

If the signal is within the ideal range and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa Smart app is up to date, then update your smart device's firmware using the steps in our FAQ: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-1256.html

If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please send an e-mail with your contact information and a link to this review to [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

Solution to control Home Devices thru your Network

I received the HS105 Smart WiFi Plug as part of a review program. Similiarly, as before, I like to point out that I’m technical, but not an IT person or a hacker or anything like that. In fact, I’m a FamilyMan with multiple users (teenagers) and thus multiple devices hooked into my router. Usually anywhere from 20-25 devices. And this Smart WiFi Plug works directly within my needs because I have a second house and this device helps me manage my home devices from afar. First, let’s talk about setup. The HS105 smart plug is – well – plugged directly into an open wall socket. I then opened (or for someone new, you’ll need to download) the TP-Link Kasa app. I then pressed the button in the app that requested for me to add a new device and BAM! There is was, it then asked me to click the button in the app which gave it the command to link into my established home network and BAM! It connected, that’s it, nothing more to do other than give it a personal name (Kitchen Plugin). I can’t make this up, it was that easy! So, what’s cool about this is that I can now control a light, schedule it, etc to act as if I’m home even when I’m not. I can schedule a timer, or tell it I’m away! All in all a very simple and useful tool to have whether in my case at my second home, or even at my primary residence to control the lights in my teenagers bedroom to get him to go to sleep! It also works with Alexa if you have one of those.

I bought this very excited to use on my kitchen appliances. However, was extremely disappointed because they do not work on Auto drip coffee makers. Nowhere in the product description did it mention that. I had to return it and hope that they will be able to improve on product capabilities in the future.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. Smart plugs operate by allowing or preventing the flow of electricity to the connected appliance - much like plugging or unplugging the appliance directly from a power outlet. If your appliance does not support automatically turning on and functioning when first plugged into a power source, then a smart plug may not be an optimal combination for the appliance.
