In your case we recommend moving the smart plug closer to your router during setup. Please note our smart home products require WPA, WPA2, or WEP encryption. Please ensure your router's Wi-Fi utilizes one of these encryption standards. plug keeps losing it's connection

For Alexa to control the Smart device, and to control the device when you're away, you'll need to create a free Kasa account, which can be done using the steps outlined in our FAQ here: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-946.html
Once the Smart device is added to your network and account you can then add the skill to Alexa as shown here: http://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-944.html

Save your time and money.

Don't spent it on this, I decided to buy 4 of them. On the 1st day worked ok by the 5th day, not so well , now I am left with this useless thechnonogie that keeps disconecting, crashing the app and iunderperforming. And this is only for ththe 4 plugs,. DOnt get me started with previous purchaes besst buy's customer service is non existent. I've been cing to this same tore for the past 19 years and seen it gone souh. Keep going back hoping it's changed but nope. Many purchhes and hundreds spent,just to see it all have gone to recylc!e or trash ok done complaining. Dear best buy I really want to like you and give you my money but you just don't like me

Thank you for your review. We always recommend ensuring your router's WiFi signal is adequately strong in the device's location. Within the Kasa Smart app there's a feature that allows you to measure WiFi signal strength of your devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.
If the signal is within the ideal range and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa Smart app is up to date, then update your device's firmware by selecting Home → Settings → Firmware Update within the Kasa app.

I switched to Samsung plugs

not easy to set up

I am able to set up to turn the outlet on and off using the app but I have not been able to get it set up with google. I went through the set up process multiple times and I can not get it to work with google voice.

Our smart plugs, bulbs, and switches are designed for quick and easy setup using the Kasa app. If you're having difficulty connecting them to your network during setup, please ensure your router's 2.4GHz WiFi signal is sufficiently strong at the smart device's location. You can also tap the "I can't find my network" option during setup to manually select and connect to your WiFi network.
Please also ensure your smartphone is not connected to a VPN during setup, as this may interfere with the installation process.
