    Kasa Plug not easy to link to Alexa

    I bought 4 of these to install in my home network. The first one didn’t work. I installed the second one and it does work but am still not able to get it linked to Alexa. I returned the other two as well as the one that didn’t work.

      Hello Phil,

      There are two ways to connect the plug to Alexa, 1. through the Alexa app or 2. through the Kasa app. If setting up through the works with option on the Kasa App we would suggest using the Alexa app. If that also fails please contact support Kasa.Support@tp-link.com

    It clicks when it turns on/off. Also has a delayed response from Alexa.

    Poor configuration and did not work right

    Getting the plugs to be configured with wi-fi using the app was a long and frustrating experience despite being tech savvy. The app would have trouble scanning existing wi-fi networks (would work on rescan) and then initially fail to connect. Needed to repeat this a few times to get the plugs added in the app. After that the only thing that worked in the on/off button. Other features such as scheduling or the "away" feature would also show "connection error". Some of the error messages were cryptic and ungrammatical which made me question the professionalism of the programming. Decided to return the product - no one should be spending this much time for a simple product that should be in these days pretty much "plug" and play. Bought another brand - let's see how that goes.

      Hi,

      We always recommend ensuring your router's WiFi signal is adequately strong in the smart device's location. Within the Kasa Smart app there's a feature that allows you to measure WiFi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.

      If the signal is within the ideal range and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa Smart app is up to date, then update your smart device's firmware using the steps in our FAQ: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-1256.html

    TP Link Smart Plug

    When i first purchased this it worked great and the phone app was really good. But after a couple of weeks it started causing problems. First off it stopped being connected to the wifi. Next thing that happened was that it would not register with the app. I kept trying different ways to get it all to work again. I even started from the very beginning like i just bought it. Still to no avail. This unit was even causing problems with my home wifi system and my phone. It kept kicking my phone off and trying to connect to the smart plug. I ended returning it as I became frustrated with trying to get this thing to work. I did have high hopes as that it was working great the first 2 weeks I had it. Maybe some of you may have better luck with this than I did but As I mentioned above I would not buy this again.

    JUNK! This is the 2nd one I've purchased, thinking their tech had improved. It hasn't. Still impossible to pair. Working with Amazon, it's worthless. Even the Merkury off-brand is better.
