Absolutely a 10/10

Works but app is not developed enough.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The plug works if you turn it on with your phone, but the Kasa app software is not developed enough to set light schedules. That kind of defeats the whole point of my having purchased this. The app says the developer (Kasa) is working on that, but it's not ready yet. Sengled is a much better choice. Their app is ready to go. I ended up getting Sengled bulbs, plugs, and hub. Sengled seems to be working without any issues.

Super easy an works!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It doesn't require a hub or bridge to set up. Doesn't take up an ethernet cable. Just plug into the wall, download the app and link via the app. Takes minutes to set up, even for a super non-techie like me. The away mode is great for lamps, because it will make the lamps go on and off randomly. Would 100% recommend.

Could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product when it works properly. I have one about 20 feet from my wireless router and it decides when it wants to work. Thought it maybe was distance so I reset everything and put the plug closer, works better but still has issues .

Not easily connected to Alexa
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works ok after you sign up for account. But you must search for “kasa smart” in Apple store. Plus you must download & connect with iPhone (not iPad). But connect to Alexa? Good luck. Newly minted password not working and reset password does not work. I don’t need several apps on my phone to control several devices.

Fails to connect to wi-fi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited by the ease with which the box promised the plug would set up and I followed the instructions meticulously but it failed to connect. So I did a factory reset and followed the instructions again. I checked the w-ifi connection and tried a third time and it still failed.

Posted .Hi,
In your case we recommend moving the smart plug closer to your router during setup. Please note our smart home products require WPA, WPA2, or WEP encryption. Please ensure your router's Wi-Fi utilizes one of these encryption standards.
If you're still encountering difficulty setting up the plug, please send an e-mail with your contact information and a copy of this review to [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

Horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only works about 20% of the time and is in the same room as the router. Alexa continuously says that it is not responding. Once I manually turn it on and off then it seems to work again. Pretty much useless.

Great... When They Work...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying that I like the fact that these are compatible with multiple smart home platforms. And that I like the simplistic, well thought out design that make these easy to use with outlets and powerstrips. However these do not function consistently at all. They drop in and out constantly, forcing me to have to get up and turn whatever is plugged into these manually. In addition, these do not have any kind of memory built into the software, so if you unplug these for more than thirty minutes, you have to totally reconfigure them. And if your wifi goes out more than once during a storm, you are going to have to reconfigure them again. I have a number of TP-Link products in my home and they all suffer from the same issues. Save your money, do not buy these.

Posted .Hi,
Thank you for your review. We always recommend ensuring your router's 2.4GHz WiFi signal is adequately strong in the smart device's location. Within the Kasa Smart app there's a feature that allows you to measure WiFi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.
If the signal is within the ideal range and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa Smart app is up to date, then update your smart device's firmware by selecting Home → Settings → Firmware Update within the Kasa app.
If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.
Thank you,

One day just stopped working
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased the plug right after Christmas. It was easy to set up and worked perfectly with Alexa. Yesterday I asked Alexa to turn on lights, and she said she could not connect. We disconnected everything and started from scratch. No luck. Alexa keeps telling us that she can't find it. Going to return to Best Buy today.

Posted .Hi Northernguy,
In your case we recommend ensuring both your Alexa and Kasa Smart apps are fully up to date. Then, please update the firmware of your Kasa devices using the steps outlined in our FAQ here: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-1256.html
We also recommend disabling, then re-adding the Kasa Skill within your Alexa app.

Failed to setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setup instructions worked fine the first time; the device connected to my wifi network ok and appeared in the Kasa app. As soon as I tried to switch it on and off in the app it disappeared. Went through setup again; it detected the old config and prompted me to reset; all went well until the last step where it said it "encountered an error" and to contact support. Tried 2-3 more times with the same result. Returned to Best Buy less than an hour after I purchased it - no questions asked. Exchanged for a Wemo which is working fine as I type this.

Good for awhile then they are not
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been buying these mini plugs for the last year or so. Have had as many as 11 plugs and 2 switches now down to 7 plugs and 2 switches. The plugs just stop connecting (flashing blue). Tried everything to reset, spent time on support chats with TP-Link and they don’t know why I’m losing them, others are still working. As that slowly drop one at a time I will be replacing with a different brand as these are not reliable.
