The TP-Link - Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini is just what we wanted and needed. The delivered instructions were not so intuitive but a quick YouTube video sealed the deal. Scheduling and on the fly changes are a breeze with the Homekit. I totally recommend it!

These are easy to set up and great for using on lamps or hard to reach switches. I had one but got a couple more for floor lamps and also great for using on the christmas tree! It connects to my google home and I can activate it with my voice or use my phone. Even when I leave home and forget to turn the lamps off I can do it from work! very handy and easy to set up!

It does what it needs to do just fine. But the reason Im taking away 1 star is because of the setup. I suggest purchasing the tp links without HomeKit.

    Constantly disconnects from network!

These smart plugs are small and fairly easy to get up, especially considering they are HomeKit compatible, HOWEVER they constantly disconnect from the network requiring them to be power cycled (unplugged and then replugged into the outlet) in order for the connection to be established again. Even after that is done, they will likely disconnect within a day or so again. I know that it is the plugs and not my network that is causing these issues, because these are the only items out of the many dozens of other smart home appliances that I own, that do this. I have also updated them to the latest firmware but that has not solved the issue. I would not recommend these until these seriously inconvenient issues are resolved.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. We always recommend ensuring your router's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal is adequately strong in the smart device's location. Within the Kasa app, there's a feature that allows you to measure Wi-Fi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.

If the signal is within the ideal range, and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa app is up-to-date, then update your smart device's firmware by selecting Me → Firmware Update within the Kasa app.

If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

      Thank you,

This was my first Homekit accessory and I found it very easy to set up. I'm using it for lamps and it works well for what I am needing. There is no delay and I was able to set it up to turn on/off at certain times during the day. Very solid plug. The Kasa app works well too. If you need a Homekit compatible plug, this is a good option.

I bought this particular model because it has "seamless setup" for Google Home. As a little slip of paper in the package explains, it should be possible to add it directly to the Google Home app without needing a TP-Link account. The Home app does have a special option for adding a Kasa device, and it seemed like it was able to locate the plug, but it kept failing at the final step of the setup process. After several attempts I finally gave up and made a TP-Link account so I could set them up through the separate Kasa app. Then I could link them to my Google account and everything worked as expected. I'm glad they're working now, but I'm frustrated since the only reason I bought these in the first place was the promise of not needing a special account/app to use them. Nobody wants a separate app for every gadget in their house.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. Kasa devices require a Kasa account for setup and use. The Kasa app is required to establish a Kasa account; however, once you have integrated Kasa with Google or other services like Alexa, you can control them using Google/Alexa instead of Kasa. That said, for more advanced features, the Kasa app will still be required.
