Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After a month or two of use it disconnected from my google home app on it's own. restarted it multiple times, including the router and still does not connect. customer support from the company now tells me that I need the Kasa app, which it shouldn't because the box advertises seamless integration with Google and I had it connected without the Kasa app.

Posted .Support may have not known which model you were speaking about. Most plugs do require the product to be configured in the Kasa app first. Then you link Kasa to Google Assistant to control all of the Kasa Products.
The KP125 is unique as it support HomeKit and Google integration via QR codes. If you have concerns or it does not work please contact support for assistance.

It took a little time to get set up. See the other reviews. Once set up the app was easy to use and navigate. The main issue I have is that I have it set to away mode for my outdoor holiday lights and it randomly will shut off. All three of them have done this even after updating the firmware. I will give them one more day and if they shut off again I will be returning. Most likely for another brand.

Well this isn't that type of review we like to see. You mention that you are using this plug for outdoor lights. That could mean you have it connected outside and that may be the reason for the concern. These plugs are designed to be used indoors only. Beyond the elements using this plug outside may result in a poor connection to the router. Exterior walls can block a lot of the signal outside especially for 2.4GHz, not to mention distance and other interference points inside. We always recommend ensuring your router's Wi-Fi signal is adequately strong in the smart device's location. Within the Kasa Smart app there's a feature that allows you to measure Wi-Fi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.
If the signal is within the ideal range and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa Smart app is up to date, then update your smart device's firmware by selecting Home → Settings → Firmware Update within the Kasa app.
