    I would give zero stars if possible. This product does not work. Multiple times to get setup on the app and then the devices just go offline and cannot be used. Also - avoid purchasing from Best Buy if you don't plan to try and setup for 30 days. Product is not returnable. I am tossing 4 indoor plugs and one outdoor plug in the trash.

    Worthless - keeps disconnecting from app

    I got them set up with no problem but they would continually disconnect from the app, at least once a day, which makes them pretty much worthless. I could never access them remotely to turn them on or off. I posted this on their support forum, as did quite a few other people, and got no response so I returned them. It was definitely not a router issue because I have two other similar plugs (different model number) that work fine, and I have a late model, high end TP-Link router.

    I have multiple smart plugs in my house, that never give me trouble. These I’m having to reset every couple of days. If they get no response one more time I’m going to return them. Very disappointed. I’ve swapped these with other brands plugs that have no issue in this location and where the other brand was at now has problems. Don’t bother with these.

    Would not connect to Apple HomeKit. Even though it said it was compatible. It tried to comment but always timed out. Tried many different ways to get it to connect but to no avail. Thought it was defective and traded it in for another one and it suffered from the same problems.

    Didn’t realize until I tried to use this that I would need a “hub” in order to use it while out of the house. I wasn’t about to spend anymore money so I found a plug on Amazon that works while I travel without the need for a “hub”.

      Thank you for your review. A hub is not required for remote control of your Kasa Smart Plug. As long as the plug is connected to your home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and has Internet connectivity, and you are signed in to your Kasa app and connected to the Internet on your smartphone, you should be able to access your Kasa devices remotely.

    Requires a 2.4Ghz network

    Returned all three of mine as I have a new wifi 6 mesh router that only does “mixed” mode without the option to choose 2.4ghz instead or 5ghz. Not recommended for someone who is not comfortable/familiar with modifying your home network radio frequencies.

      Hi,

      Thank you for your review. We hear your concerns regarding your 2.4GHz only smart devices. Please bear in mind that devices that are equipped with 2.4GHz only Wi-Fi capabilities will only detect and connect to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. This means that dual-band devices will see both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz as a single SSID (network name). However, 2.4GH-z only devices will only see the 2.4GHz band, and not the 5GHz band.

      This also means that 2.4GHz only devices will not even see or detect the 5GHz band, so they will simply see and connect to the 2.4GHz band. There should be no issues or interference from the 5GHz signal, as 2.4GHz devices do not "know" whether a 5GHz network exists.

    Waste of money

    The smart outlet looses connection to the network at least daily and has to unplugged and re-plugged to get it to pick up the network again. The signal strength is great and our router is a tplink also and my wife and I work IT so we know what we are doing. This will be going back.

    Does NOT work with multi-band mesh networks

    Does not work with multi-band mesh networks (running both 2.4 and 5gHz). I have mesh Orbi network and these things wouldn't connect. Very frustrating.

      Thank you for your review. The KP125 Kasa Smart Plug with HomeKit is designed for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity. If your router supports dual-band Wi-Fi, then it should be capable of broadcasting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals simultaneously. Since the smart plug can only interface with 2.4GHz, it will only detect, see, and connect to the 2.4GHz band - as long as it is enabled and encrypted on the router.

    Hot Garbage

    I've been struggling with these since I purchased them. One of the pair connected to HomeKit for a while and then was stuck in a perpetual status of "Updating." Now, they fail whenever I try to add them back to home. An absolute waste of money.

    Connection Would only work in home ap not Kasa - you can’t schedule in home ap nor is sharing with family members easy These were useless (unlike other Kasa gear)

    Maybe I’m blind but I don’t see anywhere on the box that it only works with 2.4 ghz WiFi. Would of been nice to know after I bought 6 of them

    Not as easy to setup as I was led to believe. I use Apple HomeKit and these weren't recognized at all by the app despite following the instructions to a T
