We always recommend ensuring your router's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal is adequately strong in the smart device's location. Within the Kasa Smart app there's a feature that allows you to measure Wi-Fi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.
If the signal is within the ideal range and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa Smart app is up to date, then update your smart device's firmware by selecting Home → Settings → Firmware Update within the Kasa app.

Setup Problems and Returning It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.These are supposed to be very easy to setup, but I ran into many issues. I am very savvy with technology and work with it all day, every day in my work. It's not user error. First issue was it wouldn't connect to my home wifi network. All of the Kasa suggestions I found online did not work. What did work was a simple power on and off of my wireless router. So, you get to the "connecting to home wifi" screen and nothing happens, be sure to try turning your wireless router on and off. The second issue which I could not resolve is that it did not recognize my Micro SD card. First I confirmed the card should be compatible based on Kasa's published compatibility. It should be (it is a 32GB microSDHC card). Second, I tested it with a card reader on my PC. The PC read it normally. Third, I tried reformatting it as per Kasa's recommendations to FAT32. I did that, reset the camera, powered the camera off, reinserted the card, powered back on, etc. Lastly, I even tried updating the camera firmware - no change. Nothing I tried caused the camera to recognize the card. The card works fine as tested on the PC, so it has to be an issue with the camera and as a result I'll be returning it. All that to say, there appears to be some pretty serious quality control issues, and whoever writes the manuals should try testing the setup process on many different phone and router setups so they offer more useful troubleshooting when setup runs into issues.

Thank you for your review. Our Kasa Cameras are designed for quick and easy setup using the Kasa app. If you're having difficulty connecting the device to your network during setup, please ensure your router's 2.4GHz WiFi signal is sufficiently strong at the device's location.
Secondly - and rather important - please ensure your smartphone is not connected to a VPN during setup, as this may interfere with the installation process.
