Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Kasa Spot Indoor camera's picture quality, ease of use, and affordability. Many appreciate the night vision capabilities and the option for local SD card storage. However, some customers experienced challenges with connectivity, while others found the cloud storage subscription costly. Overall, the positive feedback on image quality and ease of setup outweighs the reported connectivity issues.

I bought 4 of these. They are very cheaply built. The hardware is low end so these can only connect to Wi-Fi at older 2.4 GHz. The first 2 cameras were set up on a Android 10 phone with Verizon Fios router and are still working properly. I tried to set up the other 2 on a Android 11 phone with Xfinity router and it either failed to complete setup or only worked a while then disconnected. The software is buggy and gives little indication when long process are still running leading to errors.

      Hi,

We always recommend ensuring your router's WiFi signal is adequately strong in the device's location. Within the Kasa Smart app there's a feature that allows you to measure WiFi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.

If the signal is within the ideal range and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa Smart app is up to date, then update your smart device's firmware by selecting Home → Settings → Firmware Update within the Kasa app.

If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

I was unable to connect the camera to my network. I tried many times. I also didn't like that I had to use it with its own app.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. Our smart plugs, bulbs, cameras and switches are designed for quick and easy setup using the Kasa app. If you're having difficulty connecting them to your network during setup, please ensure your router's 2.4GHz WiFi signal is sufficiently strong at the smart device's location. You can also tap the "I can't find my network" option during setup to manually select and connect to your WiFi network.

Please also ensure your smartphone is not connected to a VPN during setup, as this may interfere with the installation process.

If you would like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

This was my first camara ever purchased. I should have done more research. You need a micro SD card. Without it, it will not record and it there is no point in using it. You also have to sign up for a service with a monthly price. Its not worth it. Just invest in something better. The low amount of stars are just there because I really didnt use it as it was supposed to be used.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. The Kasa Spot Indoor camera requires a micro SD card (not included) for local recording. For cloud-based recording, a Kasa Care subscription is required. These two recording methods are independent of each other, and you are not required to use both simultaneously. Generally, most customers will opt to solely use the local recording option via SD card.

The concept of this item was what got me to purchase. Terrible instructions to get it setup and when I got it connected to the app that it had you to install on phone, it got through to the end of the installation and kicked to out to start over. I tried to get it to connect for 4 hrs until I got passed and took it back for a refund.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. In your case we would recommend performing a factory reset on the camera by pressing and holding the reset button for at least 15 seconds while the camera is powered on. Then, please retry the installation via the Kasa app.
