      Hi,

Thank you for sharing your experience with our LB130 Smart Bulb. For Alexa to control the smart device, and to control the device when you're away, you'll need to create a free Kasa account, which can be done using the steps outlined in our FAQ here: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-948.html

You can then add the smart device to your network using the steps here: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-946.html

Once the smart device is added to your network and account you can then add the skill to Alexa as shown here: http://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-944.html

If you’d like assistance with any of these steps, please send an e-mail with your contact information and a copy of this review to [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

I've turned my house into a smart home over the past few years. I've swapped out all the switches etc...to control all the lights, fans, garbage disposal etc.., Everything in my house can be done manually or by voice (Locks, blinds, Curtains, TV). I wanted to see what using a smart bulb would be like. Just screw it in open the app and it blinks 3 times and it's set up. Pretty simple and you can control all bulbs together or individually. It's just expensive compared to buying a switch for $36 and controlling all the lights, but I do like the freedom to control the bulbs. I use it with Amazon echo. Still trying to tune it to the correct white balance.

    Great tunable bulb

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

TP-LINK's smart bulbs are quickly becoming popular due to their Amazon Echo/Alexa integration. Unlike other smart bulbs, these bulbs have the added bonus of not requiring a hub for control. The downside is there is no current integration with any of the smart hubs such as Wink or SmartThings. Like all of the other bulbs in TP-LINK's lineup, setup is very easy using TP-LINK's Kasa app. The application is well made and easy to understand. Setting the bulbs up is a simple process. Once setup, you can set them up in groups to control singularly should you desire. The Kasa app also shows daily, weekly, and monthly usage statistics of the smart bulbs. Also, Integration with Alexa is awesome and works well. The bulbs themselves are dimmable through the brightness control and allows you to set it with the 1-100% range. The light they put out is as good as my other LED bulbs which were highly rated by Consumer Reports. The bulb color range is controllable from warm yellow to bright white and can be any gradient between these points. Disclaimer: Submitted as part of a free sample program.

Great affordable bulb to upgrade home

I tested another one of these a couple months back for TP-Link. I've since bought a half dozen on my own dollar to upgrade my house. I'd also like to note that I did test about just over a half dozen different models from other non-fortune 5000 companies and they were all ok but TP-Links Wifi app has them all beat and costs less than the other companies. The app is easy to use. Open it open and turn on/off the lights. You can even set timers or adjust the hue. I'd recommend these bulbs to anyone who wants to have a smart home but not break the bank, while upgrading. Disclaimer: Submitted as part of a free sample program

The TP-Link LB130 is an amazing addition to the smart home collection. I love how with a touch of a button I can change the color of the light. The color change is instant as well. It was easy to setup and the instructions were very simple to follow. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a well rounded light bulb that can perform many functions. Poor Security

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First, it requires a cloud account which I wouldn't mind except when I went to create a new account, the app said that special characters weren't allowed in my password. All I had letters, a number, and spaces. Are you kidding me!? You're going to force me to use a weak password? If you fail on something so basic as allowing users to have a strong password, then I hate to see what the rest of your platform is like.

      Hi Goodman,

Thank you for your review. We emphasize security when it comes to our smart home products, and we understand your concerns. All letters, numbers, and many special characters are allowed when creating a Kasa account password. However, spaces are not among the characters allowed, and this is likely what led to the message you received. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to follow up with you and help address your concerns. At your earliest convenience, please send an e-mail with your contact information and a link to this review to [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

    Terrible

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Sadly, this bulb is junk. It flickers all the time when set to (non soft) white, the colors are way too saturated, IFTT support is a shallow joke and the app is obnoxiously unintituative. You can't group the bulbs up so say you want to pick one color and have all your bulbs change to it, you can't. It makes you set the colors individually for every single light bulb and because the app uses a stupid color slider in order to pick which color, it is pretty much impossible to set all the lights to the same color if you dont want to use the terrible, oversaturated presets. Not to mention you can't get these lights to sync with your music or tv (like the HUE and Lifx can). Anyone who gave these a good review is just reviewing the price. I will be returning them and trying the lifx, and if that sucks too then I guess it's time to bite the bullet and get a hue setup.

      Hi Nate,

Thank you for your feedback. If you're experiencing flickering with your LB130 Smart Bulb, we first recommend ensuring the bulb is installed in a socket/fixture that doesn't have its own built-in dimmer. We also recommend making sure your Kasa app is fully up to date, and the bulb has the latest firmware update as shown in our FAQ here: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-1256.html

You can use the Kasa app's "Scene" function to create and easily control a custom scene for multiple smart bulbs at once, as shown here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-1234.html

If you’d like assistance with any of these steps, please send an e-mail with your contact information and a copy of this review to [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

      Hi,

We always recommend ensuring your router’s Wi-Fi signal is adequately strong in the smart device’s location. Within the Kasa app there's a feature that allows you to measure Wi-Fi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu. Ideally, the reading should be >-70 dBm.

If the signal is within the ideal range and you’re still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa app is up to date, then update your smart device’s firmware using the steps in our FAQ: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-1256.html

If you’d like assistance with any of these steps, please send an e-mail with your contact information and a copy of this review to [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.
