Still can't. Also not always getting good signal on cell phone when downstairs. All lights are on but I don't really know if it actually works.

Please note that during setup, you have the option to use a separate Wi-Fi network name for the extended network, or you can clone/copy the SSID (network name) of your main router, so the extended network appears as one unified network with your main router's. You can also conveniently make this change to the extended network's name after it has been set up by using the TP-Link Tether app on your smartphone.

You should not have to reset any network settings. A Range Extender will copy the settings of your router on setup. It may attempt to create a seperate SSID, which is helpful for network management and to know when a device is or isn't connected to the Extender, but you can make it so the SSID is the same as the host router. It wouldn’t connect to our ATT router if MAC address filtering on the router was enabled. 2.) It lacks an AC adapter, so it’s on the wall; it can get hot close to a wall; heat destroys good operation. Note: we got AT&T’s WFEXT4971; and after one of their phone techs created a hole in our router’s firewall for only that 4971, MAC address filtering works on the router side of our house! Just like it used to with our old extender; the only difference is that now MAC address filtering has to be disabled in order to add new address to the list, then just enable MAC address filtering again. :) The 4971’s MAC address COULDN’T be added to our router’s list; thus the need for its hole in our firewall.

Thank you for your review. If you have MAC Filtering enabled on your network, you will need to create MAC Filtering profiles or rules for your connected devices - including this Wi-Fi extender. You can find its MAC address printed on the device label.
We hear your concern about heat dissipation; however, the extender has been designed and tested in its intended application and should not encounter any issues with heat, as long as it is installed in a location where it has adequate open air flow, and is not directly exposed to external heat sources.

The connection between the two was weak. I knew I need something that would intensify the signal but I was worried I could not be able to install it( I am terrible with electronics). Instead in 10 minutes I was able to resolve the situation. My computer is fully operational now!

I'm paying for 500/500mbps, on average I get about 250/250. Thought I would get at least 100mbps after plugging ethernet to my TV. However, it only increased my upload speed to 250-300, and maxed out at 50 for download. I use the ethernet to usb adapter. wifi was 25/50. I would only buy if you absolutely have a dead zone, this will not increase your speed.
