    Locked Up

Installation was easy as it could possibly be. I charged the battery the day before I was going to install the lock. After I saw the battery was fully charged, I planned for the install. I removed my old lock. Installed the DL110 lock and keypad. Installed the battery. Last I opened the app. My phone had no problem finding the lock and I configured it. Each person in my house has their own pass key and fingerprint saved. To program the fingerprint reader you need the app open, assign a fingerprint under Members and fingerprints. Click on the member and add fingerprint. It works like programming a fingerprint on your phone. Lift and rotate or change angle about 6 times to get the print saved. The fingerprint reader works very well. But if your hands are wet, dirty, etc. You will need to use the keypad. The keypad length is 4 or more numbers. The keypad also has a built in doorbell. So this is really nice if you want one at a side door that may not have a doorbell attached to it. You can set it to sent a message to your phone that the bell was rung. Very handy. I do have one HUGE gripe with the app. If you want to share multiple devices to multiple people they have to have a Tapo/TP-Link account. And you can only do one device to one person at a time. I have cameras, locks and a smart spotlight that are all under the Tapo name. To share them is a pain in the behind. Another issue. Google Home integration is lacking. It shows the door is locked, but you can not do anything with it from Google Home. You have to use the Tapo App. If the app, assistant and sharing gets improved and or fixed...this is a 5 star rating easily.

The TP- Link Tapo DL 110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt Lock combo is a serious upgrade from traditional deadbolt systems. Pros: Easy Setup Backup Traditional Keys Easy Installation for Existing Deadbolts Fluid Setup via Apps Cons: Rechargeable Battery needs a USB Adapter with 5V output that's not included.. Once receiving this device I was excited to leap into the future with a deadbolt that had technology features built in. Once opening the box, The parts were easily identifiable and separated quickly. Opening the manual which is superb in detail, I found that the battery that's included only comes with a cable not a USB adapter. I had to stop my installation and order a USB adapter which took 7 days to arrive at the house as no store had any in stock around me. Once that came in I put the battery on charge overnight and woke up to it being fully charged! It states one battery charge will last around 1 year. This is not bad as it is fully connected to wif and an app and depends on how many time you are going in and out of your front door locking and unlocking. I quickly was able to remove my old deadbolt and followed the included instructions and had it installed in 20 minutes. Then I was able to get it connected via the Tapo ap on the Apple store. It was super simple as it walked me through fingerprint scanner and Pin Codes. What I enjoyed was the ease of the install and the high quality feel and look of this product. While the battery issue threw me for a loop, it doesn't take away from the fact this device is amazing in everything it does. It works seamlessly and allows me to have all my family personalized pin codes and even give pin access for sitters in the future.

I have had several smart locks for my home and was about ready to go back to a more traditional deadbolt. They seem really hit or miss when they want to actually work properly, usually failing to work when you really need them to. I thought I would give it one more try as I have a couple other Tapo products I like. So far this lock has been great! Installing the lock was super easy. If you've never done one before, follow the directions, they're very straightforward. Set up was as simple as can be. I opened the app and it found the lock right away. I had no problem registering my fingerprints or code. I love being able to just touch the lock to get it to open and have had no issues having it recognize my fingerprint immediately. Having a physical key and ability to hook a power bank up to it (just incase the battery dies) gives peice of mind. I love the fact they included a rechargeable battery pack. I was getting sick of going through so many batteries. My house has no back doorbell, so I really like that someone thought to include one as the keyhole cover! This lock has wifi built it. It works great without the need for a hub. I love being able to tell alexa to lock the back door and check if I remembered to lock the door after I've Gone to bed! The Tapo lock is built like a tank and I should last for many years!

Really nice lock here. install was simple and as expected. Didn't have any issues at all. Setup was simple as well. Phone app and setup was direct and not confusing. Function was simple and worked well. Able operate with many different ways. Bluetooth, fingerprint, keypad, smart assistant or physical backup keys. I do wish they included a physical proxy badge like someothers. But otherwise, this works really well. The included video camera doorbell does all you identify who is at the door and answer. This works well and with the wifi functionality you can remotely unlock the door. Battery is a 1000mAh and during review didn't drop much. I fully expect this to last a month or so depending on number of video doorbell presses. This also uses USB-C charging so no new cables to keep up with!! The device does have a logging mechanism to know who/how a door is locked/unlocked. For a wifi device that provides security into my home. This was important. Finish is really nice. I think this will last quite a while. I've had some other devices breakdown due to direct sunlight. But this one appears to be rugged and i hope lasts a while

Great Smart Lock if You’re Looking!

I have been testing this lock over the past week. So far, I can say it’s a well-designed smart lock that offers multiple ways to unlock it. For example, I think it’s really cool that it has three options to unlock: a fingerprint recognition, app, and/or a keypad. I’ll admit, the fingerprint function was pretty cool while showing it to my kids. It literally blew their minds! Design and Build Quality: The TP-Link Tapo DL110 has a sleek and modern design. I think the black finish blends in well with most doors, and the touchscreen keypad gives it a minimalist appearance. The installation process was relatively simple and didn’t require professional help, which is a big plus for anyone not too familiar with hardware. I do admit, this lines up nicely with my current jams, so I didn’t have to do anything to my front door. I know it’s only been a week, but I’m happy that the lock feels sturdy, and the overall build seems impressive. Smart Features: Most smart locks these days can operate via an app on your phone, so not much difference there compared to competitors. The lock can be controlled via the Tapo app, which allows you to lock and unlock your door remotely. The app also gives you control over user permissions, so you can grant access to family members or visitors. I love this because I created separate permissions for my in-laws, mom, and siblings. Random note, we were out and about and my wife’s sister wanted to borrow something from us. We were able to create and provide her with her own code. She came to the house, entered it, and we were notified! I know that’s full nerd right there, but I thought it was cool considering we quickly did this. The fingerprint recognition is fast and reliable, making it easy to unlock the door without needing to fumble with keys. The weather has been really nice where we live, so I do wonder what’ll happen when it starts raining. It sounds silly, but will water or humidity impact the reader? Time will tell! Again, as I shared the example about my wife’s sister, the lock supports a keypad for PIN entry. This is what I think we’ll always use for ease. This is useful if you don’t have your phone like going on a jog or walk, or if the fingerprint scanner isn’t available. Performance: In terms of performance, I’d say the TP-Link Tapo DL110 delivers on its promises and expectations. The lock consistently responded to commands from the app, whether I was locking or unlocking remotely. The fingerprint scanner worked with minimal delay, and the keypad was responsive. Battery life has been excellent so far, and the app provides real-time notifications on lock activity, which is useful for tracking entries and exits. Connectivity: Being a Wi-Fi-enabled device, it integrates seamlessly with my smart home. I was able to link it with my Google Assistant, which made controlling the lock via voice commands convenient and impressive! Setup with the app was straightforward, and the instructions were clear. Pros: Multiple ways to unlock (fingerprint, app, keypad). Easy installation without needing professional assistance. Responsive fingerprint scanner. Can use the app, Tapo for locking/unlocking. Real-time notifications for entry/exit tracking. Smart home integration capabilities with platforms like Google Assistant. Sturdy and durable build quality. So far, it’s a nice UX-friendly app interface for managing access and settings. Cons: Wi-Fi connection with lock has been an inconsistent, causing slight delays in app control. Price is on the higher side compared to some other smart locks. Keypad doesn’t light up in the dark, making it harder to use at night without additional lighting. This could be a safety issue. Overall: I think the TP-Link Tapo DL110 is a solid smart lock option for those looking for flexibility and convenience. It has multiple unlocking options, including fingerprint recognition and remote access via the app. These features make it a reliable choice for any smart home. So far, performance has been reliable and works as expected. I personally think it’s a bit pricier and could improve on the keypad lighting… but the benefits outweigh the minor drawbacks. Honestly, if you’re in the market for a reliable smart lock that integrates with your smart home, this is worth the investment.

The TP-Link DL110 smart fingerprint deadbolt lock makes entry and exit from your door super convenient. The fingerprint sensor is very fast and quickly unlocks or locks the deadbolt. For most doors, installation should be a breeze and require only a cross-tip screwdriver. The packaging comes with illustrative instructions and guides to ensure proper installation. Depending on your door frame, you can reuse your old strike plate or use the one included in the box. The hole for the deadbolt on my door was further away from the edge than the default distance. This meant I had to extend the deadbolt itself by twisting and pulling it out. While this was easy to do, it has one flaw. The extended deadbolt has some rotational give that keeps it from being set firmly in its extended position. This results in the deadbolt sometimes getting stuck by the edges of the strike plate, which keeps it from locking. A quick jiggle or two of the door solves the problem, but this will get annoying over time. Other than the occasional getting stuck while locking, the functionality is great. It’s easy to enroll users and their fingerprints and/or codes. There are, of course, all the features you’d expect in a modern smart lock like alerts, auto locking, integration with Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Google Home (but not Apple Homekit), long battery life, and more. Overall, this is a sleek and fast lock that I recommend. I do take one star off because of the lock getting stuck once in a while.

The TP-Link - Tapo DL110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt Lock is a slick looking smart lock that makes it easy to control access to your home from anywhere in the world. It lets you unlock your door a various number of ways, such as with a fingerprint, passcode, via Wi-Fi, close-range Bluetooth, voice commands, or with included backup keys. On top of that, everything is centrally managed through the Tapo app that you might already use with Tapo cameras and lighting. Installation: Installation was a breeze as the kit includes all the necessary hardware to get you up and running. Even someone who isn’t very good at DIY projects should be able to handle the installation in a few hours. Tapo even provides video tutorials for those questions that might come up during installation. I had no notable issues during the installation, as it was replacing a previous smart lock from a different company. Ease of use/Features: The Tapo app allows you to control and configure all the functions of the DL110 and was pretty easy to set up. It’ll even guide you through firmware updates and setting up additional users fingerprints or passcodes. For my testing, I set up fingerprints and passcodes for my daughter. These worked great and totally as expected. The Bluetooth function also worked without any surprises and is great if you carry your phone around with you, as your phone will serve as a key to get into your home. My daughter has now used every method of entry a few times and finds the fingerprint to be the most convenient, as sometimes she doesn’t have her phone in her hand. I was also able to set up a temporary code for use and that worked as expected. This is a great feature if someone is house sitting, or you need to give someone access in a hurry. The fact that the lock is connected to Wi-Fi and therefore internet accessible is a game changer. My last smart lock was only available via Bluetooth, so if I was not home, I would not be able to add a code or let someone in. Oh, and did I mention that the lock also has a built-in doorbell that rings to your phone when someone presses it? This is kind of confusing because it might take a while for someone to figure out where your doorbell is. However, if you really want a streamlined look to your front entryway, then this is a great feature. Battery life: Battery life is advertised as 1 year with Wi-Fi and 2 years with Bluetooth. Recharging is easy with its removable battery pack as well and should only be an inconvenience every once in a while. If you’re in a pinch and need to access the lock without a key handy, you can also plug in a USB charger or battery pack to give it some power for an emergency unlock. Here is a quick pros and cons list for the Tapo DL110 Smart Deadbolt. Pros: Easy to install and set up Works with Alexa and Google Assistant Can be controlled remotely via the Tapo app Has a built-in fingerprint scanner Can be unlocked with a physical key Cons: Fingerprint scanner seems to be slower sometimes Tapo app can be temperamental at times on iOS. Overall: The TP-Link - Tapo DL110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt Lock is a seriously great smart lock that makes getting into your home a customizable and fun experience. Whether you want to use a fingerprint, code, or your phone to get into your house, the lock will make you happy. If you have someone that would rather use a key, they can even do that too. I fully recommend the DL110 to anyone who wants a solid upgrade to their deadbolt.

Whether you have or haven’t used a smart lock before I have to say this one specifically really is a complete package for a great value, something which TP-Link Tapo line is really good at with just about everything they come out with. First off, this lock offers 6 ways to access your door, including fingerprint recognition, Bluetooth access, custom PINs, Wi-Fi remote access, backup physical keys, and integration with smart assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings. The setup was straightforward with simple DIY installation, and the packaging includes all the essential components like the lock, strike plate, latch bolt, and even a drill bit to ensure the lock is securely fitted. It's compatible with standard deadbolts, so it fit perfectly on my front door without needing to make any modifications. If you know anything about “smart things” it’s that the app makes or breaks the item and thankfully this Tapo app is a home run. It allows you to lock and unlock your door remotely, manage guest access, and even monitor a detailed activity log of who accessed the door and when. For added security, it features “Peek-proof passcodes”, which allow you to input random digits before or after your actual code to prevent prying eyes from guessing your passcode which is about the coolest thing ive ever seen from something like this lol. I’ve also found the auto-lock with a custom timer quite handy for added peace of mind if I or my family forget to lock the door manually. The 10,000mAh battery is according to the information able to provide up to one-year battery life. It has a usb type C port for easy charging, ensuring you're never locked out. The built-in doorbell is an extra touch that adds another layer of convenience to the system. This thing even has prevention alerts for break-ins, which can notify you of suspicious activity in real time. Overall, this lock combines strong security features with a smart home integration that makes it both practical and reliable not to mention the value for the money being the best in the segment. It's a fantastic upgrade for anyone looking to enhance the security of their home and I highly recommend it.

I have had a digital entry to my home for some time now. For several years, I needed a way for care givers to come and go even if I was not home. Physical keys were really not an option as the people would change frequently. So with a combination lock I could have a code for "visitors" that I could change if needed. This takes things to a new level. Out of the box the actual lock part of the device feels quite heavy and secure. Installation was very easy and the included graphical novel style instructions were very intuitive. The lock will adjust for the two most common door configurations and fit in mine just fine. It even comes with a template if you are starting from scratch with a door that needs the holes drilled to accommodate the mechanism. One thing to note is that you should charge the battery before you begin which will take a few hours. So, if you want to install tomorrow, get that battery plugged in today. The app was easy to install and gives you total control of the device. Including options to share access with others using their phone. Joining the app to my Google network was easy and I can now lock and unlock with voice control. The finger print sensor is easy to program and is the main way we open when we arrive home. There is also a key pad to use a code for unlock and locking too. Finally, there is a key you can use to override all the electronics in case of battery or other failure. A nice feature is an emergency charging port that you can use in the even that the battery is dead and they key is not available. Trust me when I say this is handy as I had to break into my house after a long vacation when the battery on my old lock died. while I was away. Oh, and for the first time ever I have a door bell too. All in all this is a great value for this sort of device.

    Another winner from TP-Link TAPO

I am a fan of the TP-Link TAPO ecosystem and the DL110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt lock is another nice addition to the system. I have found the TAPO devices to be easy to set up and use with the TAPO app. The TAPO DL110 is well packaged with everything needed to physically install and use the deadbolt, including templates to help locate where any needed holes need to be drilled into the door. My door already had the necessary hole locations so I did not need to use the templates, but this is a nice feature to include to make installation easier. Perhaps the most important reason I was drawn to the DL110 is the claim by TP-Link that the rechargeable battery can last up to a year. We all know that is the best case test scenario and not a real world number, but for sure it should last far longer than the previous smart lock I had which used traditional alkaline batteries. The TAPO uses a lithium battery that is charged with a USB-C cable and standard 5v charger. It is easy to remove the battery for charging. As mentioned, it is trivial to setup and use the smart lock with the TAPO app. The fingerprint scanner works well, as does the light up keypad. There is also a doorbell button and two physical keys included. Note that to access the physical key location the doorbell button is removed to reveal the key hole location.

The TP-Link Tapo DL 110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt Lock is everything you need in a smart lock and more! We have used this lock to allow access to the garage door without needing a key, finally eliminating the last thing I needed to carry a key for! I have tried many of these products and the fingerprint sensor on this one is by far the most responsive one yet. The app is also amazing, and allows me another way to access if I forget my code somehow, or if I cut my finger and can't use the fingerprint scanner (my go to!). We use a housekeeping service and probably my favorite part about this lock is that I can assign a temporary code for the day they are scheduled to come clean our house, but then it will be expired after that so I never have to worry about random people having access to our home! Overall I give this smart deadbolt lock a resounding 5/5 stars! In addition to the excellent functionality this lock has amazing build quality, a feature rich and easy to set up smartphone app, and a very straightforward and simple install process!

I already have a fingerprints scanner deadbolt lock on my front door. I love the lock, and never thought that I would even think about changing it. And then this line came along, and I said well I guess I can give this a try. I had to wait to get this on correctly, because of the lock that I had previous and everything was off, so I needed my contractor to come by and hook everything up. After everything was done, and functioning, I downloaded the app and quickly connected everything to my Wi-Fi. I was surprised at how accurate this deadbolt lock was when it came to the fingerprinting part. With my last deadbolt fingerprint lock, I would always had to try multiple times to get it to lock, which was a irritating but I loved everything else about the lock itself, so I decided to keep it. Now that I have this lock? It is so much more accurate than the one I had in every aspect! When I barely put my finger on the fingerprint part of the lock, it opens really quickly with less effort than the last one! The only thing I need to check is how it reacts when it's cold outside, so I'm waiting on the winter time to see how it performs. I also love the fact that this comes with a doorbell, even though I already have a Wi-Fi doorbell separate. The only thing I wish that's not really a knock to this door lock, is that it came with an extra battery. Other than that, the price is right, and it's really a great product!

As technology and demand improves, more and more smart door locks have hit the market. I held out for awhile, but now that they are more reliable and affordable, I’ve embraced smart locks and want them on all of my doors. I don’t want the bulky key chains in my pocket and I’m tired of fumbling for them. I have different brand door locks on my front door and outdoor storage closet, so it was time to get one for my patio door as well. This one was cheaper than the others and have features that they don’t, like a built in door bell and the ability to use a physical key in case the battery goes dead while I’m out. My patio door is about 30 years old, so installation took some time, but it’s not the fault of this lock. I love that it has a rechargeable battery pack as opposed to regular batteries like my other units. The fingerprint reader is a great feature that I do not have on my other locks, but now I wish I did. This lock works really well, had a great app and works with Alexa seamlessly, though I wish it worked with Siri and HomeKit as well. I’m really happy with this lock and feel safe with it when I leave the house.

Bottom Line: The TP-Link Tapo DL110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt Lock offers a good set of features in an easy to install and use design. Pros: Easy to install; built-in doorbell; voice notifications; fingerprint sensor; integration with Alexa and Google Cons: needs to be connected to WiFi to set up; touch screen could be brighter; no way to calibrate whether door is closed; no HomeKit/Siri integration option; no Bluetooth or geofencing unlock options. Review: We were replacing an existing deadbolt, which made installation really simple (although the instructions actually made it out to be more confusing than it was). The only hiccup I had was connecting to my WiFi network, where I kept getting an incorrect password error. It was initially frustrating, because I had to leave the house and you can't progress with setup until it's connected. When I returned, it had sorted itself out (not sure how) and the lock was showing in the app. Once in the app, I was able to setup a passcode and my fingerprint. The lock has a good set of features. First, it has a built-in doorbell, which is a really handy feature for those who don't want to go through the hassle of dealing with recharging or hard wiring in a smart doorbell. Second, there are simple voice notifications (e.g., "door locked") letting you know the status of the lock. Given I have a small child, it'd good to know when it's being locked and unlocked. For those who don't want to enter the passcode every time they open the door, the fingerprint sensor works quickly and accurately. Home automation users can also link the lock to Alexa or Google. There are, of course, some areas of improvement and missing features from this lock. First, the touch screen could be brighter as it's a little difficult to see the numbers in direct sun. Second, although the lock calibration works well (to detect door jams), there's no way to calibrate whether the door is open or closed. This means that if you've set the auto-lock timer, it'll push the deadbolt out even if the door is open. Given the weather is currently moderate enough to leave the front door open, we found we were trying to close the door with the deadbolt out a lot and ended up just turning off the auto lock feature. Next, although the lock offers Alexa and Google integration, it does not do so for HomeKit or Siri. For me, this means I can't incorporate the lock into my Apple HomeKit workflow (e.g., have thermostat auto adjust upon unlocking the door). Last, the lock does not (as far as I can tell) have a feature to unlock when your phone is near. This could be done through an active Bluetooth connection, which the lock has since it's the initial way to connect to the phone, or a geofence option.
