I have had a digital entry to my home for some time now. For several years, I needed a way for care givers to come and go even if I was not home. Physical keys were really not an option as the people would change frequently. So with a combination lock I could have a code for "visitors" that I could change if needed. This takes things to a new level. Out of the box the actual lock part of the device feels quite heavy and secure. Installation was very easy and the included graphical novel style instructions were very intuitive. The lock will adjust for the two most common door configurations and fit in mine just fine. It even comes with a template if you are starting from scratch with a door that needs the holes drilled to accommodate the mechanism. One thing to note is that you should charge the battery before you begin which will take a few hours. So, if you want to install tomorrow, get that battery plugged in today. The app was easy to install and gives you total control of the device. Including options to share access with others using their phone. Joining the app to my Google network was easy and I can now lock and unlock with voice control. The finger print sensor is easy to program and is the main way we open when we arrive home. There is also a key pad to use a code for unlock and locking too. Finally, there is a key you can use to override all the electronics in case of battery or other failure. A nice feature is an emergency charging port that you can use in the even that the battery is dead and they key is not available. Trust me when I say this is handy as I had to break into my house after a long vacation when the battery on my old lock died. while I was away. Oh, and for the first time ever I have a door bell too. All in all this is a great value for this sort of device.

    Another winner from TP-Link TAPO

I am a fan of the TP-Link TAPO ecosystem and the DL110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt lock is another nice addition to the system. I have found the TAPO devices to be easy to set up and use with the TAPO app. The TAPO DL110 is well packaged with everything needed to physically install and use the deadbolt, including templates to help locate where any needed holes need to be drilled into the door. My door already had the necessary hole locations so I did not need to use the templates, but this is a nice feature to include to make installation easier. Perhaps the most important reason I was drawn to the DL110 is the claim by TP-Link that the rechargeable battery can last up to a year. We all know that is the best case test scenario and not a real world number, but for sure it should last far longer than the previous smart lock I had which used traditional alkaline batteries. The TAPO uses a lithium battery that is charged with a USB-C cable and standard 5v charger. It is easy to remove the battery for charging. As mentioned, it is trivial to setup and use the smart lock with the TAPO app. The fingerprint scanner works well, as does the light up keypad. There is also a doorbell button and two physical keys included. Note that to access the physical key location the doorbell button is removed to reveal the key hole location.

The TP-Link Tapo DL 110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt Lock is everything you need in a smart lock and more! We have used this lock to allow access to the garage door without needing a key, finally eliminating the last thing I needed to carry a key for! I have tried many of these products and the fingerprint sensor on this one is by far the most responsive one yet. The app is also amazing, and allows me another way to access if I forget my code somehow, or if I cut my finger and can't use the fingerprint scanner (my go to!). We use a housekeeping service and probably my favorite part about this lock is that I can assign a temporary code for the day they are scheduled to come clean our house, but then it will be expired after that so I never have to worry about random people having access to our home! Overall I give this smart deadbolt lock a resounding 5/5 stars! In addition to the excellent functionality this lock has amazing build quality, a feature rich and easy to set up smartphone app, and a very straightforward and simple install process!

I already have a fingerprints scanner deadbolt lock on my front door. I love the lock, and never thought that I would even think about changing it. And then this line came along, and I said well I guess I can give this a try. I had to wait to get this on correctly, because of the lock that I had previous and everything was off, so I needed my contractor to come by and hook everything up. After everything was done, and functioning, I downloaded the app and quickly connected everything to my Wi-Fi. I was surprised at how accurate this deadbolt lock was when it came to the fingerprinting part. With my last deadbolt fingerprint lock, I would always had to try multiple times to get it to lock, which was a irritating but I loved everything else about the lock itself, so I decided to keep it. Now that I have this lock? It is so much more accurate than the one I had in every aspect! When I barely put my finger on the fingerprint part of the lock, it opens really quickly with less effort than the last one! The only thing I need to check is how it reacts when it's cold outside, so I'm waiting on the winter time to see how it performs. I also love the fact that this comes with a doorbell, even though I already have a Wi-Fi doorbell separate. The only thing I wish that's not really a knock to this door lock, is that it came with an extra battery. Other than that, the price is right, and it's really a great product!

As technology and demand improves, more and more smart door locks have hit the market. I held out for awhile, but now that they are more reliable and affordable, I’ve embraced smart locks and want them on all of my doors. I don’t want the bulky key chains in my pocket and I’m tired of fumbling for them. I have different brand door locks on my front door and outdoor storage closet, so it was time to get one for my patio door as well. This one was cheaper than the others and have features that they don’t, like a built in door bell and the ability to use a physical key in case the battery goes dead while I’m out. My patio door is about 30 years old, so installation took some time, but it’s not the fault of this lock. I love that it has a rechargeable battery pack as opposed to regular batteries like my other units. The fingerprint reader is a great feature that I do not have on my other locks, but now I wish I did. This lock works really well, had a great app and works with Alexa seamlessly, though I wish it worked with Siri and HomeKit as well. I’m really happy with this lock and feel safe with it when I leave the house.

Bottom Line: The TP-Link Tapo DL110 Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt Lock offers a good set of features in an easy to install and use design. Pros: Easy to install; built-in doorbell; voice notifications; fingerprint sensor; integration with Alexa and Google Cons: needs to be connected to WiFi to set up; touch screen could be brighter; no way to calibrate whether door is closed; no HomeKit/Siri integration option; no Bluetooth or geofencing unlock options. Review: We were replacing an existing deadbolt, which made installation really simple (although the instructions actually made it out to be more confusing than it was). The only hiccup I had was connecting to my WiFi network, where I kept getting an incorrect password error. It was initially frustrating, because I had to leave the house and you can't progress with setup until it's connected. When I returned, it had sorted itself out (not sure how) and the lock was showing in the app. Once in the app, I was able to setup a passcode and my fingerprint. The lock has a good set of features. First, it has a built-in doorbell, which is a really handy feature for those who don't want to go through the hassle of dealing with recharging or hard wiring in a smart doorbell. Second, there are simple voice notifications (e.g., "door locked") letting you know the status of the lock. Given I have a small child, it'd good to know when it's being locked and unlocked. For those who don't want to enter the passcode every time they open the door, the fingerprint sensor works quickly and accurately. Home automation users can also link the lock to Alexa or Google. There are, of course, some areas of improvement and missing features from this lock. First, the touch screen could be brighter as it's a little difficult to see the numbers in direct sun. Second, although the lock calibration works well (to detect door jams), there's no way to calibrate whether the door is open or closed. This means that if you've set the auto-lock timer, it'll push the deadbolt out even if the door is open. Given the weather is currently moderate enough to leave the front door open, we found we were trying to close the door with the deadbolt out a lot and ended up just turning off the auto lock feature. Next, although the lock offers Alexa and Google integration, it does not do so for HomeKit or Siri. For me, this means I can't incorporate the lock into my Apple HomeKit workflow (e.g., have thermostat auto adjust upon unlocking the door). Last, the lock does not (as far as I can tell) have a feature to unlock when your phone is near. This could be done through an active Bluetooth connection, which the lock has since it's the initial way to connect to the phone, or a geofence option.
