Bought these for ease of use with installation and avoiding the hassle of running wire and a box sitting around. Overall, the cameras function as intended. With the Tapo app you can adjust perimeters for various types of detection, sensitivity, and when sends a notification. Video quality is good at 2K and 720p isn't terrible. Both during the day and night, IR works great. Microphone functions as intended, sound quality when speaking through the app has a muffled sound at the cameras. Battery life varies based on the recording/sensitivity perimeters you set. However, if the camera becomes unresponsive, it will remain on without lights and drain the battery continuously. I've had this happen on 3 different occasions and I've had these installed for 42 days. Both cameras outside froze and I couldn't view them on the app. I had to restart the cameras where I mounted them, unfortunately I had to pull out my ladder again to reach them. So, ease of access in case this happens should be a consideration. When frozen, the battery will drain, both cameras went from 92% & 96% to 54% and 65% over the course of 4 days.

I use these inside and out and find them to be very helpful. We have our packages delivered to a back door and installed a camera there so we get alerted to any movement. Also nice to have since there has been package theft in the area. You do have to purchase a microSD card or pay for Tapo cloud services in order to record event footage. Indoors, I’ve also used a camera to check in on our dog when we’re out. These cameras come with strong magnets, so if you have a steel surface (ie: a railing, a sturdy light fixture etc) you can attach in a pinch without tools. Since this model is battery operated, the units might be on larger side. And you do have to charge them every once in a while. But the batteries do seem to last quite some time ( unless you place in a busy area and they are constantly recording)

Set up: Super quick and easy. Just attach the base to a surface with the 3M sheet (or with screws), and the camera attaches to the base with its magenetic properties. Then just download the app and the camera is detected pretty quick. Camera: built-in speaker, built-in light, built-in alarm, picture quality is amazing (crisp and clear whether day or night), and the camera itself is sturdy and well-built. Battery: Lasts more than 3 weeks without much activity detection, and roughly over 2 weeks with all day/daily activty. Cameras charge pretty quick (1-2 hrs) depending on how low your battery is. App: This app is amazing! Better than Arlo for sure. So many customizable features! It took me a few days to explore everything it offers. You can automate it in many ways and switch from "home mode" and "away mode" through a scheduled time. You can also set up the camera to only detect specific movement like: only pets, only people, only vehicles, or just general movement - and it alerts you of what type of detection it picks up (vehicle, pet, etc.) The app allows for "privacy mode" if you share your camera app with family members with just one click, so it doesnt send alerts. You can also take pics and record videos through the app and it saves on your phone. It has so many more features to make it simplify its use, you just have to explore the app and activate/customize the features to your liking. Subscription Service: way more affordable than Arlo or Ring. $3.49/device or $11.99/10 devices per month. There's in between prices for less cameras as well, and you can do a yearly service which saves you money if you want to pay up front.

Easy to set up, excellent quality and the app makes it easy to change and customise settings for how we want it. The metal base plates were easy to install in the house sidings and the magnets are strong and make it easy to change angle and charge.

I've been testing the Tapo TC85 3 Pack Security cameras for about a week. The security cameras have some good features, such as great mounting options, good build quality, camera resolution, and a cool AI feature that detects vehicles, pets, and people. However, the cameras are overshadowed by the accompanying app and poor performance, such as the need for a MicroSD card to record, long battery charging time, buggy app, lack of a web interface, and inconsistent motion detection. The Good - The build quality and camera resolution are good. All the equipment seems solid, and in daylight, the picture looks fantastic. However, at night, the picture quality is just acceptable. - The cameras are easily mounted to just about anything. On steel, you don't need anything to mount them. The super strong magnets hold better than any camera magnet I have used. If it's a material you don't want to drill into, they provide double-sided tape and a small steel pancake for the camera to mount to. This is the perfect solution for anyone who doesn't want to drill holes. - The AI feature is really cool. Whenever the camera detects a vehicle, pet, or person, it puts a little square around them and sends a push notification. The Bad - The first negative thing about these cameras is that they need a microSD card to record. Without a microSD card, the cameras are just like CCTV. They will notify you of an alert, but they will not record anything. If you add a microSD card, they will only record 20 seconds. There's a setting to extend the record time, but it doesn't work. - The batteries can take up to 5 hours to charge. This is most likely because of the outdated micro USB connector. - Another issue with these cameras is that the app is very unpolished. It seems that Tapo created one app for all their devices instead of making a dedicated camera app. Because of this, there are many bugs, redundant menus, and some settings won't save. - Push notifications come in pretty fast. However, they do not come with a thumbnail. Also, when you tap on one of the notifications, it doesn't take you to the video; it takes you to the main screen. - The cameras can only be viewed in the app. There is no Tapo web interface to view your cameras using a PC. If you do want to view video on your PC, you have to download a third-party app and punch a hole in your router configuration. -Finally, the cameras do not catch all activity. I found that I received more false negative alerts than true positive ones. Even when I specifically would try to make the cameras alert, they only caught activity about 20 percent of the time. With all that said, These cameras are newly released and I am one of the first people to test them. So, hopefully Tapo works out these bugs with an update to firmware or the app. But at this point I just can't recommend them.

Camera is easy to set up and maintain. Picture resolution and viewing field are good. Battery life is great. WiFi range is moderate. An external antenna may help this. The Tapo app needs a feature to input a schedule for the Privacy Mode to automatically turn off and on and preset times. Also, I find the Tapo app communication of setting changes to the individual cameras is slow - example, turning off the Privacy Mode in the app doesn't always turn it off on the camera.

Terrific video quality and deatures. Well built and easy to program. Lots of custom settings for your application. I just wish they would include mounting brackets along with the magnetic mounts for a more secure exterior installation. I had to purchase them from Amazon.

Amazing clarity! Easy set up. These are so handy since they are wireless. I have them installed on my gutters and they work perfectly. Lots of customizable options in the app too. The Tapo app now works with Kasa so everything Tp-Link is in a single app now...so helpful. Definitely recommend! FYI: if you're having issues connecting to Wi-Fi you have to go into your router settings in the app from X-Finity/Comcast/Spectrum etc. and temporarily switch from 5g to 2.4g too let them connect. Once connected they're good to go. Most newer Wi-Fi installs don't have the 2.4g visible so this is a step a lot of people are missing.

These cameras have a great picture. They’re easy to setup and install. You can set the alarm to go off only if a person is detected. You can also set a time you want the alarm to automatically come on and go off. They’re magnetic which I was skeptical about. I was scared they would fall if we got bad winds, but the magnet is very strong. We haven’t had any issues with them not staying where we position them. We previously had Blink, but we like these cameras way better.

I've been pleased. Wired will always provide max resolution and superior long-range motion detection but this strikes a great balance of convenience and performance. Battery life, range and image quality have been as advertised. App is good. Motion sensitivity is great with instant notifications and practically no false positives. Love how usable they are without a subscription. Auto firmware updates. Also solid and substantial build with strong magnets. A lot to like. Aww

This 3-camera TP-Link smart security set perfectly fulfilled my need to monitor and protect the surroundings of my home. The price is very reasonable, especially considering the wide range of features it offers. Each camera provides clear 2K video quality and comes equipped with all the essential and modern sensors — including motion detection, person and vehicle recognition, two-way audio, battery monitoring, and full remote access via mobile. You can even review recorded clips directly from your phone, which is incredibly convenient. I’ve been using the system for about a year and a half, and it still performs flawlessly. The cameras are weather-resistant and built to last outdoors. Battery life is excellent and varies depending on the settings you choose, but in my experience, it lasts a long time with minimal maintenance. Overall, this is a reliable and feature-packed solution for home security. Highly recommended!

I ordered these specifically because it suited my needs. I didn’t want a subscription model setup and wanted local storage. The battery life has been amazing so far. I estimate I’ll get several months worth of battery before I have to recharge them. The app features are great and highly customizable. Picture clarity is crystal clear and audio is good. It was easy to install and connect.

Set up was super easy, and the range is great for my needs. The video quality is pretty good as well. What's not great is the sound quality. The playback videos consistently have broken audio where the sound goes in and out. While audio is not nearly as important as the video feed when it comes to security cameras, it's nice to be able to clearly hear what's going on, and these cameras just don't deliver in the audio department.

I’m really impressed with these cameras. The setup was easy. The video quality is sharp, even in low light, and the magnetic base makes installation a breeze. The Tapo app is user-friendly, allowing me to view live feeds, receive motion detection alerts, and adjust settings on the go. Overall, these cameras give me the confidence of knowing my home is well-protected.

Great product! Own 3 TC85/C425 cameras. Will buy more. Extremely easy to install and use. Love that it doesn’t have unsightly cords or need a nearby outlet. Was much easier to mount on the ceiling or wall than the wired Tapo cameras. Beyond the initial charging, I haven’t had to recharge it in the 6 months of ownership and I won’t need to recharge for at least a few more months. The night vision and microphone are great. The response time to view the live feed could be a little faster but it’s not bad. The app is easy to use and add cameras and other Tapo items; but the notification alert system and zone accuracy are a little wonky. I don’t get alerted (but video was captured) or I was alerted too much. It detects pets as humans. I gave up on trying to fine tune the zones and alerts. The alert to my phone has a couple second delay from when the activity occurred. These are small issues for my needs. I mainly use three of these TC85 cameras indoor for pet monitoring when away.

Easy to install and set up. You really need to get memory card but don't have to. Lots of settings and configuration. Seems to work great, still tweaking settings. Great buy no special service or subscriptions required.

Great quality cameras however the app could offer a little better performance. The cameras have crisp and clear video, however the app keeps resetting my motion zones and it doesn’t always capture motion during certain times of day. I put a WiFi extender outside so that helped, but it still seems like an issue between the cameras and software.

I like how versatile they are where you can connect to a magnetic place screw it in or stick it somewhere the app works well with it battery life is great picture quality is good. I had wired cameras before with a DVR the only good thing about that is it saves everything not just motion clips.
