2.4ghz speed to very slow

Connection used: I was using an internet plan of 175Mbps, but I get around 200Mbps.
Cons:
With this router, I was only getting up to 18Mbps using the 2.4ghz wifi connection.
Normally, 2.4ghz is slower than the 5ghz; however, I generally get 35+Mbps using another router. Netgear AC1000 (R6080-100NAS) is also giving 35+Mbps speed on the 2.4ghz.
Pros:
5ghz network speed was great on this router. I was getting 200+ speed, and Ping and Jitter were lower as well.
Verdict:
If you need 2.4ghz, this might not be the best option.

Hi,
Your wireless signal and connection can be optimized in multiple ways to ensure you get the most out of your router. In modern network environments it is common for neighboring 2.4GHz wireless networks to overlap, causing WiFi congestion and interference. By changing the 2.4GHz wireless channel you can improve wireless signal strength, bandwidth, and range. Please take a moment to look over our FAQ on changing the wireless channel: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2292.html
To ensure optimal performance of your wireless router please check, and if needed, update its firmware using the steps outlined in our FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2139.html
If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please send an e-mail with your contact information and a link to this review to [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

Router would be perfect if it didn't connect multiple times a day. You need to reboot the router to restore connection. I returned it after a couple of days. Very disappointed and a waste of time.

Hi,
Thank you for your review. To ensure the best possible signal, it is important to make sure placement is as optimal as possible. Reducing obstructions and placing the router in a central location will help ensure your signal reaches the areas you need.

I bought this to get a better range from my WiFi and it works better than the ISP router I have been renting. I connected it very easily and works great.

I've had bad luck lately with netgear modem/router combos so I decided to replace it with a new modem and this. The router is fast. It looks pretty nice and clean. I like that it comes with a good software package that includes parental controls with scheduling for limiting child access.

I was hoping for a vast wifi reach with those 4 antennas but it was not different than my existing mesh system. I returned it.

Buggy Device with No WDS Support

The router will constantly reboot but when it's stable it's a pretty good router. Recently I was in the market for another router as this one doesn't quite reach to the end of my guest bedroom. The issue I found out about TP-Link is they no longer offer "WDS" which was included in every router before. WDS is used to create a wireless bridge so you can connect one router to another without needing a cable. After finding this out I will no longer purchase another TP-Link device going forward.
