Had a flip feature phone 2 decades ago. This new model brigs almost nothing new. I can appreciate basic functionality but it's essentially the same UI as was used back then. And despite it's simplicity it's still sluggish. Buttons are large and backlit with good tactile feedback. Ext speaker is fine and Vol can go quite loud. For calls and ONLY calls it'll be fine but to even read a text is requires too much navigation and clicks. Includes *Apps** (which are mostly just internet shortcuts) would be be unusable on a screen this small making them redundant, and frustrating to use without touch support. Couldn't figure out if even possible to remove the bloatware.
Also advertised as having GPS which is false. Only has geolocation which is only useful for a gross approximation. Pictures are 1600x1200 (High Quality, HAHA) and video maxes out at 480p. Quality is passable though maxes out at a whopping 7 FPS. Ext mic will only register if there's yelling, and if not shooting landscape it may end up upside-down depending on how you're holding it. Doesn't even have a torch feature (flashlight).
If it wasn't free I'd return it. As it is the only thing of value is the charger and might salvage the battery. Phone itself is going right in the e-waste bin.

I was one of those who had to replace their old 3G phone and picked the TracFone - Alcatel MyFlip 2 4GB - Prepaid phone. Why you ask, well, my previous phone was from TracFone and I still had approx. 1200 minutes on it. This phone is a good replacement and has the added benefit of connecting via Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi feature does use up the battery life faster. The manual, if you can call it that leaves a lot to the imagination! I do suggest one gets a TracFone account to check their remaining "minutes" and "days of service". I at first thought that this phone did not have the "speaker phone" option as there is no actual "key" on the keypad like my old LG. But, after making a call I did notice that the speaking phone symbol did show up on the screen to be selected. I like these type of phones (flip) because they do the job I need them to do (emergency use and an occasional phone call) and are very cost effective!! BestBuy had the phone when I needed it but I would have preferred the LG Classic but it was out of stock. If you are looking for a nice, small and cost effective phone, this one works.

This Review Is Directed To Tracfone: This Phone was purchased to replace the old Tracfone Flip (3G) for my 62 yo brother who does not do technology at-all and he likes the basic simple flip phone. First, there are always changes and "upgrades" to a new model--this one when turning off the phone gives you "Lock" and "Memory Cleaner" in addition to the standard Power-off and Restart. In my opinion these are un-necessary and will confuse someone like my brother who has a slight mental impairment. Second for Voicemail the old Phone gave you the option to bypass the 4-Digit Pin to access voicemail, this new phone does not so you have to enter the pin every single time for voice mail, that is a bummer! Finally, the older Tracfones that first came out several years ago the remaining balance was automatically displayed after each call, that has been removed in recent years. I myself have a AT&T Prepaid phone and it displays the balance after each call or text so I know that it can be done but Tracfone for some reason has removed that. I hope Tracfone People will read this review but for changing any of the above I know that will not happen, at least I have told them.

This phone does what I want it to do: I can make phone calls when I'm away from home, and take photos if I'm in a store and want to do some comparison shopping. I avoid texting and using the internet when I'm out and about, and I have a camera to take photos that I want to edit, possibly enlarge, and keep, so I can't evaluate this phone for those features. The really big advantages that this phone has over a smart phone are that it's small enough to fit comfortably in my hand, and it's lightweight enough that I don't resent schlepping it. Still, my old Alcatel TracFone was smaller, lighter, and simpler to use, and I miss it. But this new one works, and that one no longer does. As far as I can tell, the battery lasts a decent length of time. But I try not to press the issue.

This tracfone is very basic. Easy to answer calls and small enough to fit in pockets. I haven’t used the camera yet and still learning how to install apps. I don’t like that there are to many steps to add phone numbers, to read and sent text massages and to save and delete calls, etc. Overall it is a phone.

Perfect, straight-forward phone for the non-techie. Yet, it has many features of a smart phone, should one opt to use them. Tracfone agents always very helpful !! Down-side, they are sometimes hard to understand because of heavy accents.

Works good. Has Facebook, google maps, etc. Google maps does not speak directions. Sometimes apps freeze and I have to take out battery. Great for price. Phone is too big for my face so I have to get closer to the speaker, farther from the ear piece..so my calls can hear me but I can't hear them as well. I use speaker phone to help

We needed to find a new flip phone for my mother after 3G ended and Tracfone customer service was of no help. Found this phone advertised at a good price and was able to go to Best Buy and have it activated and have minutes added. So far it seems to be working good.

Not As Good as a Real Flip Phone

Verizon stopped supporting my old flip phone which worked just fine. This was the only flip phone I could find. But it is not really a flip phone. It is a crippled smart phone.
Why does this matter? Because it takes FOREVER to start up when you power it up. I only use it on rare occasions. But when I need it, I need it NOW.
It also means that functions are "soft" meaning you have to dig through layers of menus. Instead of just pressing a button to go where you want to go. As it would be on a real flip phone.
It is also bigger than a real flip phone. I do not need a camera or web browsing. If I wanted those things I would get a smart phone. Adding those things makes it bigger and harder to use.
But I am pleased to be out of the evil grip of Verizon. Tracfone offers the same service through the Verizon network. But at a fraction of the price. And their customer service is actually slightly better than with Verizon.

I purchased this because I was getting tired of the size of the smart phone and google garbage, big mistake. The size was nice sound was clear but the hassle of all the key pressing to enter info and look for apps is just as bad as the size of a smart phone, it had poor ability to use internet to look up and get apps. Went back to my smart phone.

Got this phone for my grandma. It has nice big buttons and I was able to make the screen text really big for her. She hasn't had any complaints so far. Gets triple minutes. 60 minute, 30 day card actually gets you 180 minutes for 30 days. Affordable and works for someone who doesn't want a smartphone. I wouldn't suggest this phone for texting. It's weird compared to other flip phones I have used.
