A surprisingly capable phone at a crazy low price

Let's begin by stating the obvious: this is a $30 prepaid Android phone, not a $1K+ iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. That said, I am surprised at just how capable this phone is. First off, it has a quad-core processor, decent screen, 64GB of memory, plus WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. It is also 5G capable and runs on the Verizon network and supports voice over WiFi, so coverage is decent. I haven't used the camera a lot, but the specs look ok (13GB rear, 8GB front). And it has Android 14, which is the latest version. In use, it's clearly not as fast as my iPhone 14, but again, at, oh, 30x cheaper, the fact that it's still pretty usable was a big surprise. It streams YouTube, Netflix. etc., pretty well. Response time when starting an app that isn't in memory is a little laggy, but again...it's a $30 phone! Battery life is frankly pretty amazing. I've had the phone for about a week and have charged it twice. Granted, I'm not using it heavily, but it's been on 24x7 with cellular and WiFi the entire time. And charging with USB-C is quick. So what's missing from the Blu View 5 that you get with a $1K'ish phone? No NFC (in other words, so tap payments with Google Pay). No wireless charging. All plastic case and screen (no surprise there). You can find an inexpensive case and screen protector for this phone which helps with the latter. In summary, if you're after a basic but very usable Android phone that won't cause you to shed a tear if an elephant steps on it, this is your phone. It would be perfect as a first phone for a teen, a non-power user, or like me, someone who needs an inexpensive pre-paid second phone. FWIW I picked this phone up to use as a "burner" at a cyber security conference (where hackers are EVERYWHERE and not having NFC is actually a bonus), but I'll definitely be hanging on to it afterward as a backup phone.

I bought this phone to replace an old one because the SIM card went out, and I'm quite happy with my purchase. The sound quality is good, I like the screen display, it has more storage space, and I even think the battery lasts longer than my old phone's. My only complaint, and I'm willing to believe this was an accident, is that I had to change the timezone when I got it booted up. TLDR; I'm happy with it.

Excellent Device! I have only had this device for about 3 days now, and have been using hands on since then. I like BLU for their cheap Android phones; this one is no exception. I had the BLU View 2, released back in 2020, and was replaced by the BLU View 4 sometime last year, and compared to this phone, blows it out of the water. Some of the main improvements are: Android 14 Better Cameras Raise to Wake Great Build Quality Very Responsive Over the BLU View 3 and 4, running Android 12 (with the BLU View 2 running 11) 14 is a big increase with more support. This phone has joined most other phones with dual-camera setups which aren't the best, but still take fine shots when you have the correct lighting. One more touch, which is more of a tech-savvy thing, this phone, sold by Tracfone, does not have as many indications as a Tracfone device, with no boot animation or badge on the back, it's mainly the software that can be disabled easily. After activating this phone for 60 days, it can be unlocked and used as a regular phone. So overall, this is an amazing phone for $30, one of the greatest I think. With the newest version of Android, Good Cameras, Fast Phone, and much more, it's an excellent option. Even if you don't use Tracfone, activate using a cheap plan, and you can get the phone unlocked in 2 months using it with any carrier!

This phone is perfect for its price, has good camera quality and works very well, the only downside that I see is it gets a little bit laggy here and there but not to much. Overall I think this phone is a good choice for the right price.

    GREAT TEMP PHONE

For the money these phones served my purpose of an excellent temp phone while I was in transition. These phones last for about 6 months before they fizzle out which was fine with me. No complaints. I gave them both heavy heavy every day use and they stood up to my abuse. I have bought 8 of these so far if you are curious and always re-buy. These last two will be my final ones before I go back to my Iphones. The Blu 160v have been great disposable after 6 months phones. Be sure to back up all info because when I took one in to transfer the info I was told " these are junk , cant fix or work on, not worth it, just throw away. Just FYI

This phone is very slow to turn on and when it does 90% of the time the apps do not open it claims that they are not responding giving you the choice to wait or to close the app, if you choose to wait; it gives you about a minute to once again choose to either wait or close. If you close the app and open again you go though the whole thing again. I can't even make call, but it send messages ok.

I grabbed this phone when my 15-year-old was about to fly cross country solo; I didn’t want him to have to rely on Wi-Fi airport if he needed to communicate, and this was a great solution. It’s still a smart phone, but I purchased the $20 Call with limited data, so he could call and text unlimited, but when he runs out of data, too bad! This works so much better than an expensive calling plan with unlimited screen time!

I got this phone while my phone was getting repaired. It is incredibly slow, and had dificulty bluetoothing files, as well as sending pictures. I also disliked the messaging, it forces you to use your google to message which is very invasive, you can disable afterwords but can still get set back to being on. As far as a burner for a few days it worked, let me make calls and texted and thats all I can really ask for.

Much larger than the Tracfone I was replacing. Also has 69 apps!! so many and some are duplicates. I needed help to learn how to use but was told "Geek Squad will charge $40.00 to tell you they don't know how to help me transfer information from old to new!" I went to Senior Center for help. Not my usual experience with Best Buy.
