The 306G is a GSM phone (ATT carrier). I also purchased a 305C CDMA phone (Verizon carrier). Check to see who has better coverage in your home area. Both phones are the same base model with a couple of differences. The 306G has a better browser and a few less features. Uses a SIM card (included). To activate number announce the phone "talks" all the time. It has a separate folder to access the media card. The weather radar displays good on the standard browser. The 305C has a poor browser but a few more options. No SIM card required. Number announce can be active without announcing the number you are dialing or reading out loud your messages. To access the memory card you have to go to settings then memory, a couple of extra steps. Weather radar won't display on the standard browser, you have to go to games and the Opera browser, much slower. Both phones have good wi-fi, sound & voice. Battery will hold for over a week with 180 minutes & 50 texts usage. The 3MP camera is good for a economy phone and automatically resizes when sending a picture message. My wife's phone has survived 2 drop tests this month. 3' onto concrete and into a 5 gallon bucket of water. The water didn't affect the phone at all but it took 2 days for the camera to shoot clear pictures again. Great phone, buy 2 (when on sale) and have a spare.

Love the Phone but Not Ringtone Design

I upgraded to this from my LG flip phone and am so glad I did. While it may not be a smartphone, it has some great features. It’s also well constructed, has nice styling, and is just the right size. A few favorites are voice command, Qwerty keyboard, MicroSD card, GPS tracking, caller ID, and WiFi (instead of using minutes while browsing, etc). Also nice is the non glossy finish, along with the scrolling and touch capability. Audio quality and reception are excellent, too. Because pricing on a new LG 306g currently ranges from $9.99 to $49.99, I looked at various sellers before buying. One thing I don’t like is that the ringtone is progressive (starts out very soft and increases in volume as it continues to ring). But I really like this phone and didn’t want to return it just because of that. So I keep it on vibrate and have the most audible ringtone I could find. It isn’t a perfect solution but the best I could do.

I purchased this phone for my 76yr old mother. She needed a phone to make/receive calls while away from home. She doesn't text or take many photos. She doesn't use her phone to go online. This phone is fine for making calls. She has no problem hearing those with whom she speaks to over this phone and the clarity of her voice when I've spoken to her while she's on this phone is clear. The only con is that the ringer ramps up going from soft to loud with each ring when she receives calls. It would be better if the ringer would simply start loud and stay loud so that she could hear it. It takes three or four rings before it's loud enough for her to hear at present. There's no option to change that in the settings. As for the cost of owning the phone and using it, it's WAY more affordable than any contract phone plan. That's a huge plus for her!

    UPGRADE FOR A SAFELINK

    Posted
    OLDLADYLU

YOU CAN UPGRADE ANY SAFE LINK WITH ANY TRACFONE THAT IS NOT ANDROID. JUST CALL AND TRANSFER SERVICE ( NOT THE SIM CARD) THIS DOES GO ON WIFI FOR FREE AND HAS A WEB BROWSER THAT USES UP YOUR MINUTES. VERY SLOW THOUGH . I FIND THE WIDE PHONE HARD TO HOLD , BOUGHT A HOLDER ON EBAY FOR IT MUCH BETTER NOW . TRIPLE MINUTES FOR LIFE AND FREE SAFE LINK TEXTING, BUT PUTTING A PHOTO IN TAKES UP MINUTES . BATTERY DOES NOT LAST LONG BEFORE NEEDS CHARGE . GREAT PHONE FOR 10.00 SO I BOUGHT BACK UP BATTERY . IT WAS MORE THAN I EXPECTED SO I BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE FOR A BACK UP. EVEN THOUGH TRACFONE REPLACES IF BROKEN .

I bought this so I could keep in contact with my 12yr old son while he was away. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a phone he will probably loose, but I wanted him to have something that he would enjoy. He lost my old iPhone 3 he was using (well he said it was stolen) so I new he really enjoyed the ability to put music on it, watch you tube, and be able to text... He is very happy with this phone so it gets the job done for us and the price is right. It doesn't break the bank. I would recommend this for anyone who doesn't have high expectations for a smartphone and not a big budget.

I bought this as a first phone for my grandson because I've also been a longtime Tracfone user. It's the perfect starter because kids can call, text and take pictures just like the big guys without the big cost It also teaches them responsibility for their phone and to control their usage. The phone itself is clear sounding, a good size, reliable, with a good battery life. I'd recommend this not only just for kids but for people that want a phone but aren't heavy users. And a big bonus with Tracfone is that you can even call many countries without the international phone charges.

I have been using Tracfone for years, and have had many of their phones. I wanted a new phone and Best Buy had the best price for the LG 306 G. When I got the phone home I couldn't get the phone to activate even call Tracfone tech support. They suggested that the phone was scanned wrong at the store. I took the phone back and Best Buy issued me a replacement phone and made sure all data was correct before I left the store. Got home and same problem. This time when I took the phone back the sales person said that it might be a bad batch of phones, and they issued me a full refund.

Bought this phone to replace a LG840, it's a basic feature phone that will serve your need if all you want is phone calls, texting and taking a few photos. This is NOT a smart phone and some features, I found work or not depending on the service the sim card is programmed for. Has a decent camera, comes with a 4gig microSD card and triple minutes for the life of the phone. Overall, a decent phone for what it is.

I like LG and have no real complaints about this phone (other then 5 months later i get up to 10 calls a day from companies the lady who had my number before me gave my number too!!!) It is a very basic phone but does have usable WiFi. It does charge me extra for mm messaging which took a bit of my time from the women who had the number before me didn't bother to tell her friends her number changed... as for my feelings for Tracfone, its not great but its affordable if you don't have a lot to spend on a phone.

I'm a long-time Tracfone user who recently upgraded from a LG 800G. This phone is more modern looking, well built, and has wi-fi and a greatly improved touch screen. If you connect by wi-fi, the phone won't use up your minutes when you're on the web. It's priced lower than the Android phones now supported by Tracfone. It is not a smart phone since it doesn't run Android apps, but it does the job of light web browsing and email and facebook checking pretty well.

This phone exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is good, and the screen is easy to read and navigate. It doesn't have too many bells and whistles, which I consider a good thing, since I'm only looking at it as a phone, not for texting, music, or web usage, although those thing can be done as well. A good reliable phone for the money.

Good pay as you go phone for the price

This is a good pay as you go phone for me - I don't use a cell often, so this type of plan works. It's compact, which is good and bad. It fits in a side pocket well, but can be hard to grab quick - will slip out of my grasp easy. The pictures/color is clear and bright, and there a few different apps on the phone, as well as ones you can download. It's a good little phone.

    NIce but Too Sensitive

Overall Nice Phone For The Price, but my main complaint is that if you "Lock" your phone and someone calls or if you "connect or disconnect bluetooth", the phone Automatically Unlocks ... thus, when you reach for the ringing phone, 90% of the time it will answer the incoming call or call them back. Very annoying when someone calls, I reach into my pocket to pull the phone out and it automatically answers the call..

I purchased this phone for my 86-year old mother who wanted a smart phone, but didn't want the monthly bill for a smart phone. She is a picture taking and texting wizard now. Her eyesight is bad and this phone talks to her. Also, the letters can be made GIANT! I have an iPhone and I'm jealous of this phone. I'm actually thinking about getting one for myself.

Both of my kids already had a tracfone but only had double minutes. I saw this phone was only $9.99 and came with triple minutes. It only made sense to buy this phone just for the extra minutes. It is wifi capable but the browser is still the tracfone and not capable of loading pages like a smart phone. It comes with an MP3 and can take photos and videos. Just a little bit better than basic phone.

Does the job and is priced right, but my main complaint is that it's very touch sensitive. It becomes a problem when you lock the screen, place it somewhere like in a pocket, someone calls, then your reach and brush the touch screen and it automatically answers the call or you dont answer it and reach for it and brush the screen and then it calls back whomever just called accidentally.

Very simple to set up and use, the ease of this phone is something else. You will not mistakenly use data for surfing, cute and portable enough to fit a kids back pocket.. I am not buying a iphone or any other phone for my kids just yet, they can talk to their friends on the Landline and keep in touch with me on this one. When i bought it here, it was even cheaper in store compared to online.

I was very pleased with this phone. I bought it for my mom to replace an old tracfone. Because it's not a smartphone, her minutes transferred over and covered both talk and text. The phone is easy to see and easy to use, and sounds good. I would give it 5 stars but for the problems we had with Tracfone when trying to activate it and get the minutes transferred over. Otherwise, no problems.
