I ended my previous contract phone 3 months ago to get this LG800G and Im saving a bundle! Best decision I made! It has 3 types of keyboards for texting: 1, full querty (like a typewriter), 2, traditional—u push a number 1-3X for a specific letter, and 3. You can HANDWRITE your words right on the screen!! You will need to buy the mini SD card and a computer cable (sold separately) to use the MP3 feature. I EASILY activated it online at home. I love how the minutes roll over if you don’t use them as long as you keep adding minutes like every 90 days. I like the small size cuz personally I don’t care to hold a phone up to my head that’s the size of my shoe. Even tho this is smaller than some popular phones, its screen is large but still a perfect size overall. This LG800G fits in my purse much better. I blew up the font to LARGE so I can see texts without my glasses—which was a problem with my previous phone. It works great with my Bluetooth. I use it for Googling stuff online with no problems. There is an auto LOCK feature you can activate by going to settings so the phone doesn’t dial accidently while in your purse. I have NO COMPLAINTS at all about this phone. Personally I also chose to purchase a screen protector, car charger and a rubber case—all sold separately cuz I use it A LOT!! I get all my texts now which I didnt when I was on my previous contract phone. Takes great quality pictures and videos. I got double minutes and so I can send 6 texts per minute. When my friend got this phone it came with triple minutes! You just gotta watch for the deals I guess. Anyhow, I could go on and on about this great phone but suffice to say, TONSSSSSSSSS of features and Everything works GREAT for a TERIFFIC PRICE!

    TRACFONE - LG 800G No-Contract !

The phones that came with our contract every two years are horrible. I never used the phone and surrendered it to my wife. I decided to try the tracphone because my mom kept on telling me how great and reliable the service is and happened to see an ad for this track phone with triple minutes for life on spoofee or ben's bargains. So we both went and bought one at Best Buy. The phone and style is a comfortable size. Loud ring tones too! Fits nicely in my hand. Came with 2 games and 20 minutes preloaded on the phone. My mom bought me 60 minutes as part of a father's day present which, on this phone amounts to180 with the triple minutes for life! with a 135 service days left . Now, I'm a casual phone user and it has texting, a camera/ video recorder, internet, mobil games, mp3 player, video player, recorder ,as well as a micro sd slot.. I dont use all that stuff however, I do use the hand writting feature for adding contacts! I still have the 180 minutes left on my phone including the 20 free minutes added!. I had the phone for a month, dropped it twice and it still works fine with no broken glass! I recommend this phone for the casual users who do not want to get caught up in those high contracts or high end priced do it all phones!. There's a family plan too starting at $9.99 a month and for $5.00 more you could add a family member. I might do that for my daughter next year when she's 10. Pre paid minutes will teacher herhow to budget her time on the phone and be a responsible person. Plus , I will not have to worry about broken cracked glass! Again , my family are not big phone users. So , take that advice for what its worth!

    Good Starting Cell Phone

For people that have either never had a cell phone or don't want anything complex, this phone may work. If you don't want to be on a contract or pay monthly like in Virgin Mobile, For 50 bucks, this phone is pretty good. The customer service is absolutely terrible though. The camera is nothing to brag about at 2mp. I have downloaded Opera Mini, which makes web browsing better than the stock web browser. If you have an ipod or other wi-fi device, I would suggest using that for the internet over this, unless your not near a wi-fi network. 2 minutes on the internet will take away one minute of your air-time. I currently have 756 minutes left of my 1220 minutes that I had from Christmas. I bought the phone with a 400 minute card, which tripled is 1200 minutes. You get 20 minutes of air-time for activating the phone as well, so I had 1220 minutes. That's good for 3,680 texts, 2,440 minutes of web browsing, 1,220 minutes of talk time, or a mixture of them. You are able to buy games for 54.88 minutes and ringtones for 34.88 minutes of your air-time. I have downloaded 4 games and 4 ringtones. I've only sent 33 texts, because I only use this to call/text my parents to come pick me up from school. The biggest flaw is the keypad, which had a very slow response and you have to press hard to get it to work, which means that you won't be able to text very fast.

To be clear up front, Tracfone doesn't offer smartphones. If you want an iPhone or Android you are in the wrong place. As a feature phone, the LG800 has a decent feature set. It takes photos with enough resolution to print, plays MP3 music, etc. I haven't used the data/web much as Tracfone service isn't really geared/priced for lots of data use. For texting you can use a qwerty keyboard, T3, or handwriting recognition. The resolution on the screen isn't high and the resistive touch isn't going to be satisfying for someone expecting the capacitive response of a high end smartphone. A lot of people like the look of the keyless touchscreen, it works fine for what it is - a feature phone with a few bells and whistles for light users. My 11 year old loves his - the cool touchscreen look being key. That's kind of the story in a nutshell. Looks cool, works adequately, isn't going to satisfy power users.

Good Phone, Good Service, Poor Product Description

This phone is a very good phone for doing basic cell phone tasks(talking and texting). Be advised this is NOT a smartphone and don't expect to play Angry Birds. That said, it would make a good first phone or phone for somebody that doesn't use it that much. The T9 input method works well for the most part and is easy to turn of. There isn't a on-screen QWERTY layout though there really wouldn't be room for one. Tracfone provides the best service I have seen in this branch of cell phones and would clearly choose them over other pre-paids. That said, Best Buy has this listed as a "no contract" phone. While there is no contract, it is an entirely pre-paid affair. Like a gas tank, it uses minutes added to the phone for anything that uses the network and you fill it up when it gets low. This isn't a no-contract deal like Virgin or Boost.

This phone does just what I want and I only pay for the minutes I use. NO monthly charge and NO contract. Minutes carry over and as do days and I get triple minutes each time. My wife and I have the same phone so I can help her with any questions she might have. When I bought this phone, the folks in the cell phone department were very helpful, not like the Geek Squad that things they know every thing and the customer is stupid. I will never go in to your computer store again after the way I was treated by the Geek squad and the person that said she was the manager Their aditude skinks. I am sory I bought my computer there!! That was at the Superstition Springs Best Buy.

I have been a Tracfone user for many years and wanted an upgrade from my previous phone. I really like this phone. I don't use the web feature, but didn't expect to. This is not the phone for someone who wants a smartphone, but for someone who wants a nicer phone and just uses it for calls and texts it is good. I recommend getting a cover and screen protectors for it because the screen seems a little flimsy, but have not had a problem with it with the protectors on it. I also got a memory card for it so I could put music on it and it works well as an mp3 player. The camera is not the greatest camera, but takes good pictures in a pinch.

This is NO iPhone clone, as it pretends to be (in my opinion). The touchscreen is hard to use, unit won't connect to Apple computers via USB, GPS is disabled (previously advertised as "GPS Capable" when I bought it), music is difficult to organize, only accepts max of 8G memory card, Tracfone offers ZERO apps as of this writing, most apps (found outside of Tracfones's site) take up usage minutes (including hard to use email, which is via internet connection, no separate app, thus again taking up usage minutes), photos are low-res by today's standards, battery life seems short, and many other things that are poorly executed. Wish I had gotten an iPhone instead, despite the much higher monthly cost.

i got this phone because i always get new phones ABUNCH. i wanted a new phones and since i saw it, i got it. it looked pretty cool, i fell more in love with the phone and had it for 5 months! the longest i have kept a phone. well after the 5 months the screen was getting harder to press every day, now i am saving for a new phone so if you dont keep phone for about a year, and dont keep phones for ever, if you plan on getting a better or different phone in about half a year then get it. and don't get me wrong it has great service and it is just great and am glad i had it!

When I called tracfone because I couldn't make or receive calls they said I needed a new phone. Then they decided I needed a new sim card which after spending 1 hour and 10mins. on the phone with them they said I would receive it in 3-5 business days. After a week and a half I called them back and they once again said I needed to replace the phone. At this point I told them to forget the whole thing. I won't buy another tracfone for any future purposes.

We are not phone users and having to replace our five month old Samsung phone was very upsetting. The sales representative at Best Buy helped us choose this phone by showing us his phone and what we could expect. That help was most important. We did have to go on-line to get further help with set up but that all worked out smoothly. The size of the screen is reasonable for viewing and sound quality is OK. For us this is a good basic phone for travel and emergencies. We probably won't use the camera or text features of the phone.

    Not the greatest

I am not very happy with this model phone. The power button is located at the top and it is so small that you have to use your finger nail to hold the button down to turn the phone on. The touch screen doesn't respond the first time every time. The keypad lock feature is only available when you turn the phone on. And whenever I called anyone, there was this annoying crackling sound in the earpiece. Even the exchange was the same way. The only thing I loved about this model phone - was the on screen display keyboard, double tap the message window and turn the phone sideways.

Crackles alot, Disconnects alot. Phone automatically goes into lock mode during a phone call making it very obnoxious to use when you get a prompt message and have to enter numbers. Back light goes dark way too fast, have to constantly hit buttons if you need to see the screen. Shouldn't be selling this phone in this area, according to the TracFone help line. This phone is not recommended for this area. Too small and very slippery case. Thankfully I can use my other phone to call into my voice mail on the TracFone to get my messages.

    Lose Minute's

You lose minute when someone called you ,lose minute you donot a answer the call. You lose minutes when you dial a number and hangup before someone pickup. you lose 50 minute when you accidently hit the internet button and stop it before it reach the internet. It not worth the money, you losing your minutes. It best to buy boost mobile or a cricket phone cheaper and unlimited minute.

I am not a heavy phone user so this phone fits my needs as far as usage. With triple minutes for life it is a great value. The phone is not 100% a "Smart" phone, but it does offer many features not found with other non-contract phones.

    Not bad but

Overall the phone meets my needs. The only problem is that if you call a number with access codes (like international calling) and you have to enter and access code when you take the phone away from your ear it is in lock mode. Other issue is that TracFone stopped frequent call numbesr to Canada and local call number in Canada; only available for Mexico now.

Replaced older phone because new one has a keyboard, and it's large enough for my fingers that I can pinpoint numbers easily. It's a great phone at a really great price. Screen got scratched somehow, even though it was never dropped. The back is so tight, I was afraid I might break it putting it on.

This phone is great to look at and hold but has lots of problems. I cannot send text messages and am getting charged twice for every minute used plus docked for every message that someone send me even though I can't receive them. Customer service at Tracfone is very crummy - plus it is costing me minutes to talk to them. Stay away from this phone!

I t did not have a proper book for instructions and was very difficult to answer it and it was wasting minutes when I put my seatbelt on it was doing various dial ups. I lost minutes for nothing. It does well by remembering the last phone call which makes calling back quite easy.
