    Tracfone+magicjack =home&cell phone for $10 month

    Posted
    modalsystem

I use an LG android tracfone and pair it with the magicjack app and it is a money saving machine. The magicjack app gives you free calls on android/apple phones/ tablets/iPod touch wherever you have WiFi,and I get WiFi almost anywhere in my area.Whenever I make a call the phone gives the option to use the magicjack or tracfone dialer which helps you save tracfone minutes. The more I use the magicjack app over WiFi,the more tracfone minutes I build up as any unused tracfone minutes carry over when I add the $20 tracfone card every 3 months.Lately,I have even been able to place calls with the app over 3G on my phone, but it works better and is free over WiFi.I turn the 3g data off and use WiFi as much as possible. I use magicjack for $35/year($3/month) for my home phone service and have the app set to use my home phone number. When someone calls me at home it also rings my cellphone and tablet if I am connected to WiFi.Because of the app, I only need minimal tracfone talk/text/data for $7 a month( I buy the $20 tracfone card every 3 months which adds 180 minutes/180 texts/180 mb's data) for rare occasions when i don't have access to WiFi.So I get home phone service and cell phone service for $10 a month. If you don't have or want to use a cordless or corded home phone, you could pay even less than I do using the tracfone/mj app combo. Here's how: If you used the free version of the mj app with an android tracfone with triple minutes with the $20 tracfone card, you would get almost unlimited minutes wherever you have WiFi and 60 tracfone minutes/60 texts/60 mb's data/month for when you can't access WiFi for $7/month.The free app version gives you a number that has an asterisk at the beginning and end. For $10 a year(.84 cents/month) extra, you can choose your own regular U.S. number for the app making your total cost for phone service about $8 a month. As of now,I prefer the tracfone/magicjack/magicjack app combo for $10/month because I still like to use a regular cordless phone at home to give the cell phone a rest .Very happy with tracfone and magicjack service.

My existing Tracfone needed updating/upgrading and seeing this latest Android phone I decided to give it a try. I wanted to port my existing number and minutes over to the new phone and this was really easy. If you are worried by this process then don't be - it is simple. Follow the instructions and the transfer process took less than an hour for the new phone to become active. My minutes were carried over and I was given the same value in texts and data - really good deal by Tracfone. After the phone was activated it went through a series of updates (after linking in to my wifi) and in no time all my Google data, contacts etc, etc were available. I tried to load the recommended Tracfone Account Manager app but this simply would not install. I have decided not to worry about it and can access available minutes/service plan expiry via the Tracfone website. As a phone it is very good with a strong signal and clear speech. Using it as a smart phone it is very quick and so far has given no problems. It comes with good onboard storage with the supplied micro sd card. Screen clarity is good. Overall I am very pleased with the phone and with Tracfone.

Phone is fine, activation needed customer service

I bought the phone along with an 800-minute "double minutes" 1-year airtime card. It took several days and several calls to customer service before the minutes were actually credited to the Account. The phone worked well and the 3x minutes promotion on the phone gave me 2400 minutes for the year (3 x 800 minutes). A month later I bought the same phone and airtime card for my wife and experienced the same problems with activation. It only took one call to get the problem resolved the second time but I had to be transferred to the second-tier support staff. The customer service agent who added the time to the second phone only added 1200 minutes to the account; saying that the 3x minutes promotion nullified 400 minutes of the airtime card. (I had a different customer support person than I did for the first phone) So if you buy the phone don't spend the extra money for the 800-minute card, go with the cheaper 400-minute 1-year card. The phone seems to work fine. Battery life is good, camera works well, sound quality is adequate (I liked it enough to buy the second one). The size is a bit smaller than other phones but that's an advantage for me.

    Solid phone for the price

For what I paid, I was impressed. The phone came with a bonus 4gb microsd card so already you can save your MP3's, photos, or backup your contacts and apps if you choose to. The MP3 player isn't anything advanced, but for a casual smartphone user it's solid. The camera admittedly isn't the best and will likely be outshined by premium phones like the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy line; however when you're buying a budget smartphone you know what you're getting (or at least should). I would still use it for casual photos, but nothing that required excessive detail and quality. Android actually runs fairly smooth on the technology, so much so that even months down the road I'm still having consistent smooth performance, but I would warn that it may suffer slightly from lag on processor heavy apps. All in all, this wont win best smart phone but for the price it's a great alternative if you want to remain budget friendly.

This is the best smart phone available from Tracfone in my area. I'm still hopeful they'll incorporate something with a quad core and a 4 1/2 to 5 inch screen. However, I bought 3, one for me and two of my kids. We all have the ZTE Valet and I don't like it, wifi is very weak and it freezes too often. So far this very light and small (but same size 3.5 inch screen) is really quick in comparison and makes web browsing actually tolerable when you're on wifi... great little phone, battery kind of runs out every day but other than that it's the best phone I've had to date.

All in all, a great little basic smartphone.

For a basic smart phone it gets the job done for someone who just has basic needs..........a phone that works, messaging and an occasional internet connection. If I were on the internet often I would want a bigger screen but this pocket size cell phone works for me. It's internet connection speed is very good. I have had this phone for five months and It has never dropped a call. I just wish that it would work when I cross the border to Canada but Tracfone does not provide that service, although I can call Canada. I was quite disappointed that it would not work with Hoopla (a library service to download books and movies) . .It does, however, play Netflix. I like that I can turn off the data and use available wi-fi instead. Then you can use it to make calls on Skype instead of using your minutes. Tracfone triples minutes, data and messages on this Android phone......great deal. You need to download an app from Tracfone to see your balances. All in all, it is a great little basic phone and easy to use. Best Buy price matched for me! Thank you Best Buy !!

I've been a Tracfone customer since 2007, and I had been waiting for years for them to offer prepaid smartphones. The LG L34C had the right combination of features and the version of the Android OS (4.4 KitKat) that I had been looking for. I'm just beginning to figure out all it can do, but I have no real complaints so far. I do wish it had a larger screen to better accomodate my aging eyes, but for the sale price it's a compromise I'll gladly accept. A great phone for a great price!

Good backup up phone but nothing special.

Bought this just for a backup phone. POSITIVES: good caller, voice and speaker quality, loud ringer, keyboard is text friendly, mp3 player, many other features attempting to mimic iphone. NEGATIVES: small selection of ringtones included, old ringtones, text keyboard small for large hands even upon screen rotation, Swipe not included, slippery case. Bottom Line: okay for a backup phone with normal features included, or if you are not looking anything special. Although this is an improvement for a Tracfone, its nothing close to an iphone, even with its attempts, but neither is the price.

My first smartphone. Has lots of features, but more difficult to learn how to use the features than I expected. Lack of a printed "How To" manual is a big drawback for me. Unable to find a phone cover in a local store. The sound quality is great (I use hearing aids). Ability to adjust the font size is a plus for me. I do appreciate having the Tracfone pay as you go coverage, to control expenses.

I found this phone much more "practical" than a larger smartphone I had been using. Pocket-sized, it has all the bells and whistles with a great battery life. The on-board documentation is excellent, even though the "get started" flyer is perfectly acceptable. I really like the ease of turning on and off all the battery drains like wifi, bluetooth, and data. The camera function is all the definition I need.

My son is very happy with this phone and it's features. I was very happy with the price, since I got it at a great discount.. Cannot be compared with more expensive phones, but this was the best phone I found in it's price range. The 4 gb sd card is a nice bonus to use for music and/or pictures. Phone is a nice size for pockets, but a little small for older eyes, especially with the lower resolution screen, but he hasn't complained about it. Very decent deal!

Great Tracfone but Kit Kat is a dealbreaker

    Posted
    Websmacking

I'm a long time (1999 Top Communications) Tracfone owner and have owned several Android Tracfones. I love 34C, a fast phone however Kit Kat won't install many apps that need access to SD card, such as Copilot. So, beware still a great phone but some will find a need to go back back to their phones with 4.0 and 4.1

I bought this phone as a temporary phone to use while my Smartphone was getting repaired. I was impressed with the fact that it pretty much did everything my other phone does. The only issue I had was that it's a little small to use when texting. Other than that, it's a great phone! Definitely an inexpensive option for kids that want a smartphone.

This is my first smart phone for Tracfone. I absolutely love the phone and have not had any problems with it in the last 2 months. I would definitely recommend this phone to someone who doesn't use a phone too often and can connect to wifi when available. The phone is very easy to use and I love learning new things on it every day!

We wanted to get our kids (13 and 11) smartphones that would allow them to download apps and play games but wouldn't cost us a fortune. We bought these phones and have service with Tracfone. The phones are great. Tracfone plans leave a bit to be desired though. We'll likely switch to some other service soon. Don't let the Tracfone issue discourage you from considering this phone; it's just fine.

This is a good phone for the average user. Tracfone only cost $19.99 for three months of service. There is no front facing camera but I don't use that. It has wifii so I use that instead of data ( which saves money on my data ) . It has all the features that I need. I bought two phones one for me and one for my wife.

perfect solution if you are tired of paying high fees and a contract for cell service. you get everything on the phone that most people would ever need or want. The convenience of putting on your own minutes is very easy and you can do any amount of time that you want as much as a full year of time. I would definitely recommend tracfone.

Great phone since I live outside the country, I only need it when I'm at our vacation property. I can use it as a phone or to check Email and pay bills, or see how the weather is tomorrow in case I want to go for a ride on my motorcycle. No roaming on my Canadian Phone. At home I can use the Wii Fii feature as well. Low cost NO Contract.

Works great, good camera, can do email, messages and web search, the battery lasts about 5 days even with all the alerts turned off but that's fine, works everywhere and no contract! It's a low end phone but that's how it's described, I use a computer for the real stuff, good value and low cost.

Great updated phone compared to the older models, you can surf the web, make calls, even download apps. The one main problem I have are the instructions given doesn't explain anything about the how to adjust the settings or what each function in the phone does, you have to figure it out yourself
