This debut album by Chris Stapleton gives a listener a very wide variety of musical styles that defy boxing his talents in just a country genre. His lyrics speak to intelligent, loving, blistering blues, and fun loving rock and roll themes. This album screams for a great follow up cd and that's exactly what happened with his follow up cd. You need to hear this cd and its sequel to really appreciate the depth of talent of Chris Stapleton.

Chris Stapleton covers so many genres of music when he put out this Grammy award winning CD. Chris is very deserving of all the accolades he has received over the past years for his other CDS as well. Incredible musician and singer songwriter! I discovered Stapleton's music on our local R&B station in Houston. Go see Chris Stapleton Live! Every show Chris and company deliver!

Chris Stapleton's Traveller was a pleasant surprise. His voice reminds me of some other country western singer, but I can't put my finger on exactly who. Anyways, the album has 14 songs of which they are generally pretty good in general. It was good to hear some songs that were a little less traditional country western and almost ballads. Good stories for some of them. Worth getting the album.

I'm not a big fan of country music, especially the new school "rock" type country. This is more of a traditional country album with some rock production blended together. It doesn't feel as cheesy as some of the new school country and yet doesn't feel dated or stale. Chris is an amazing singer with fantastic range. He sings lines that you might only hear singers like Christina Aguilera or Beyonce sing, but with no pretension.

As the first song, "Traveler", reeves you up to what is an awesome album. Mr. Stapleton slows it down but gives it his all on "Fire Away" and you can enjoy a cup of Joe as you sit on your porch watching the sun go down after a lard hard day. Chris Stapleton brings it to sing the classic "Tennessee Whiskey" originally recorded by David Allen Coe. The rest of the album is the best. Definitely one to have in your jukebox.

Brilliant and captivating. Stapleton's voice will undoubtedly move you. The songwriting is superb and a breath of fresh air in the current country landscape of girls on tailgates and dirt roads. Sure, he mentions whiskey quite a bit, but as a device to structure real emotions and not just backroad parties. This record is perfect for a quiet Sunday morning or a windows-down evening drive. Fantastic!

I heard this man sing last year. He's got the kind of voice and phrasing that makes your head snap and stop and listen. Stapleton is an excellent songwriter (even writing for Adele). He story tells with gravitas. This is not a happy-go-lucky cd for he has a lot of soul-bearing to do. In the vein of country, southern rock, folk...Chris Stapleton is a gravelly voiced savant.

I love the bluesy sound! Also the rock/blues mix on a few of the tracks. But to be fair to others reading this only about 1/2 the CD is good, the rest I skip. What is good is GREAT! I'm old school and enjoy discovering that 1 or 2 songs you would never hear on the radio on a cd if u only downloaded the top hits. But I may have to consider it in the future.

Chris Stapleton's Traveller is without a doubt a triumphant entry in the music world. Pigeonholed a country artist, Stapleton has a way of taking the listener on a ride accross multiple genres, including country, folk, blues, rock and R&B in such a masterful way that it makes a music lover giddy as a child that's found a new toy.

While today's country music is filled with songs detailing long drives on back country roads with a beer in the console, this album actually inspires you do actually get in your car and drive. It is haunting, mellow and a modern interpretation of a classic country album. The songs are everything that is beautiful about country music.

Chris Stapleton is a needed counter to the slick pop country dominating the charts right now. Many of those songs are fine and all, but Stapleton is on another level, in terms of song writing, authenticity, and memorability. I love the production used as well, very sparse, lettings the songs and his voice shine through.

Chris Stapleton has been writing hits for other country artist for years. With his first CD release he reveals himself to also be an excellent singer and guitarist. The surprise is how bluesy his singing and playing is on some of these cuts. Highly recommended. Stapleton is a musician to watch. I expect great things from him in the future.

Had to use $5 Rewards Certificate. After watching movie Hel or High Water was impressed with ending song. Found out it was Chris Stapleton. Great and unique voice coupled with music that sounds like vintage country --not current manufactured trash. Songs deal with emotion and drinking but with hope. Every cut is good.

I haven't found many new artists that I enjoy, but I love this CD. I hear some Bob Seger, Skynard and Rolling Stones all mixed in with some modern country. Another rarity is finding an entire album you want to hear front to back, but this is one you can and will enjoy in its entirety. Keep it coming please.

This is one of only three cd's I have ever bought where every song was good. It does not come in a standard jewel case just a paper case that would be the only real downside. The music is also not anything like what is on the radio currently so you may want to preview the songs before purchasing the cd.

I heard Chris Stapleton sing Tennessee Whiskey on an awards show and knew I needed to hear more. This album has it all for any classic country music lover, and even if you're into more pop country, you'll enjoy this album.

Powerful first listen that reminds me of Johnny and June mixed with a little Skynyrd and maybe some Waylon. For those who grew up on 70's Country this is what you've been wairing for. It's got a few new sounds, too. I can see why it won album of the year, and at $11.99 - what a bargain!

Picked this up to listen to the Album of the Year nominees and was pleasantly surprised. Strong lyrics and great music alongside Stapleton's voice make this a real treat. Reminds me of much better, classic country music. Far better than most of what passes for country these days. Give it a listen.

This is one of the best country albums I've heard in a long time. It's the perfect compromise of outlaw-style and main stream. I'm not a fan of the new "pop" country, but people who are, like this album, as well as people who listen to Hank Williams, Sturgill Simpson, or Billy Joe Shaver.
