Trezor safe3
The Trezor Safe3 hardware cryptocurrency wallet is a robust and reliable device designed for securing digital assets. Here’s an in-depth review covering various aspects of the device:
The Trezor Safe3 has the same form as previous Trezor wallets. The wallet has a sturdy build durability. Its compact size makes it highly portable, allowing users to carry it conveniently. The buttons are responsive and provide good tactile feedback, enhancing the overall user experience.
Security is the primary focus this hardware wallet the Trezor Safe3 uses a multi-layered approach:
- Verification of the device prior to first use
- A EAL6+ certified Secure Element Chip: Ensures that private keys never leave the device.
- PIN Protection: Prevents unauthorized access even if the device is lost or stolen.
- Passphrase Protection: Adds an additional layer of security by allowing you to set a custom passphrase.
- Firmware Verification: Regular firmware updates and open-source code ensure that the device remains secure against potential vulnerabilities.
- ability to use 12 or 24 word seed phrases or you can also use Shamir backup 20 word multiple passwords to use for wallet recovery.
- ability to use the Tor network for transactions and coinjoin for Bitcoin
The Trezor Safe3 features a simple and intuitive user interface using two buttons on the device. You are guided through the various combinations and use by a tutorial when you first set up the device. Setting up the wallet is simple, you download the Trezor suite, connect the wallet to your computer with the included USB C cable. The device ships without firmware. The latest firmware is installed and it is Verified as genuine. You then set up the wallet security options, choosing the type of seed phrase you want to use, Pin and Passphrase. You will also choose the tokens you want to use the wallet with. Some tokens are not supported on the device but may be supported with Metamask or other wallets after you link the Trezor to it. You can even change the name of the wallet and the screen background.
The monochrome 128 x 64 OLED display is bright and clear, making it easy to navigate through menus and verify transaction details. did find the text quite small for my eyes. If you are older you may opt for the Safe5 with a larger display, touch screen and the same security features.
The Trezor Safe3 supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and many ERC-20 tokens. It integrates seamlessly with popular wallet management software such as Trezor Suite, Electrum, MyEtherWallet and Metamask. This broad compatibility ensures that users can manage a diverse portfolio of assets from a single device. You can see all the currently supported coins at https://trezor.io/coins additional tokens are being added by the Trezor team all the time.
In terms of performance, the Trezor Safe3 is highly reliable. Transactions are processed quickly, and the device handles multiple transactions and complex operations with ease.
Trezor provides robust customer support through various channels, including an extensive knowledge base, community forums, and direct support via email. The documentation is comprehensive, making it easy for users to find answers to common questions and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
One of the unique abilities of the Trezor Safe 3 is it can be used as a 2FA hardware key for any account that supports it. Details are here https://trezor.io/learn/a/what-is-u2f .
To summarize the Trezor Safe 3 has a lot of great features
- Exceptional security features
- Easy-to-use interface
- Wide cryptocurrency support
- Ability to use as a hardware 2FA key
- Compatibility with many 3rd party wallets for additional token support
- Regular firmware updates
- Strong customer support
The Trezor Safe3 hardware cryptocurrency wallet is an excellent choice for anyone serious about securing their digital assets. Its combination of advanced security features, user-friendly interface, and extensive compatibility makes it a top contender in the hardware wallet market. For the price, the investment is justified by the peace of mind and protection it offers.

The Trezor Safe 3 is a great crypto wallet, with an easy to read 0.96” monochromatic OLED display and a 2 button interface it offers a security and simplicity.
Setting up the device was a breeze. The Safe 3 comes factory sealed, with security foil over the USB C port for peace of mind. In addition, it features a Secure Element (EAL6+) which combined with a PIN ensure your coins are secure. Included in the box is a USB C to USB C cable for interfacing with the Trezor Suite on your computer, recovery seed cards, snd some stickers. After installing the Trezor Suite and connecting the Safe 3, it walks you through the setup which is a breeze. You can use the device with multiple coins but Trezor also offers a bitcoin only mode which is a nice touch. You choose your recovery method such as 12, 20, or 24 word seeds for simplicity or advanced multi-share for redundancy. Despite only 2 buttons, the Safe 3 has an intuitive interface and is easy to enter your PIN to confirm all wallet actions for security. Trezor also allows you to setup a hidden wallet secured by a passphrase, that is not normally visible, effectively thwarting any wallet thieves. In the event the wallet is lost or stolen, you recover your crypto using your seed words or shares.
The Trezor suite has a clean interface to use in conjunction with your hardware wallet, allowing you to not just send/receive coins but also buy, sell, and exchange coins through a variety of third parties. Though the wallet does not interface with a mobile device directly, there is a companion app you can use to check balances and receive coins.
The Trezor Safe 3 is an affordable and easy to use crypto hardware wallet that provides a secure way to store your cryptocurrency, making it a great choice for hardware wallets. With the secure element and proven open source design, the Safe 3 is the perfect choice for anyone looking to store and manage their own private keys.

Security is a priority when it comes to crypto!

Regardless of the cryptocurrency of your choice, it is important to maintain secure access to an asset that at the end of the day represents money. One of the options is a Hardware Wallet where we can store and mainly protect the information that allows us to access our cryptocurrencies safely. The Trezor Safe 3 has everything necessary for this task.
In the box comes the Trezor Safe 3 hardware wallet, a usb-c to usb-c cable, 2 recovery seed card, a quick start guide and some stickers. The device comes sealed (holographic seal) guaranteeing that the device has not been used before and is genuine, although still in the configuration the app performs a check to confirm it.
The configuration process is very simple. First download and install the Trezor Suite app on your PC and connect the device using the usb-c cable. Then follow the instructions to securely configure your hardware wallet. The app gives you options as to what level of security you want to configure, I think this is great because we can add another layer or layers of security. If you have little experience with these devices that is not a problem because the app guides you step by step, also in the more serious security issues or possible inconveniences in transactions, it shows very well explained warnings where it warns us about the risks, I think this is very useful because sometimes we overlook things that seem simple at first glance but can cause major problems.
Once we have configured the device then we can start moving our cryptocurrencies to our hardware wallet. You also need to verify and confirm the addresses on both the pc and the device for security. To access the device you need a PIN and within the Trezor Suite to access the wallet you can add a passphrase as another layer of security which I think is very helpful.
The device has a compact and elegant design, it also has an oled screen that serves as an interface to manipulate the device. A nice detail is that you can select from various screensavers and they look great.
In summary this Trezor Safe 3 hardware wallet is a fairly secure device to store cryptocurrencies at an affordable price, it has a very nice design and is very easy to use along with the Trezor Suit app that adds more layers of security. Without a doubt if there is an alternative to protect a crypto investment is a hardware wallet and the Trezor Safe 3 is a great option, I can recommend it.

Compact hardware wallet

This is a nice hardware wallet that will allow you to store your crypto currencies offline. Just out of the box, the most noticeable thing is that the device is extremely compact; about the size of a key-fob, except thinner and lighter. The device comes with security foil covering the USB-C port, which allows you to make sure the unit hasn’t been accessed previously. Setup is simple and straight-forward; install the Trezor Suite, connect the device using the included cable, then follow the instructions. During setup, you choose either 12, 20 or 24 word seed phrases, and then there is also the added protection of a PIN that you choose. All device interactions are conducted using 2 buttons under the small OLED display which is built into the unit. The OLED is quite small, but it’s quite easy to read and interact to prompts. The buttons are responsive, and although at first, I thought this interface was going to be a pain to work with, it proved me wrong. The device allows the use of the TOR network to anonymize/obfuscate transactions, However, this option is not on by default, and has to be enabled using the software Suite. The Trezor Suite software has a streamlined/uncluttered layout which makes sending/receiving coins very easy. It also allows the buying, selling, and exchanging of coins. The device supports the following coins: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, XRP, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Zcash, Cardano, Solana, Polygon. This list doesn’t cover all of the coins I currently own, but it does cover a substantial number where I’m holding the most value.
Overall, I think this is a very robust product and I would recommend it to someone looking for an offline crypto storage product.

Another Quality Cold Storage from Trezor!
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I’ve been using crypto cold storage for years, starting with (now defunct) Cobo, then Trezor, then Ledger, then Shift Crypto (BitBox). So I’ve used several hardware wallets including the Trezor Model T. This device, the Trezor Safe 3, is a less expensive version of the Model T, without a touchscreen. Two buttons on the device serve as the navigation and text input buttons. You can also type in a passkey (or “13th or 25th” phrase).
Unboxing and setting it up was familiar to me, but I would bet a crypto novice would have no issues following the directions. Of course, this is crypto, so you should absolutely guard the 12-word seed phrase with your life. PSA aside, setting it up involved me entering my seed phrase and setting a PIN. From there, it syncs with the blockchain and serves as the “key” to unlock your funds. According to Trezor, this device is very secure with its secure element called “EAL6+,” something the Trezor Model T lacks. This feels significant because the Model T lacks a secure element altogether. Because of this, the “$5 wrench attack” that Trezor has grappled with in the past is no longer with the EAL6+ chip. The physical feel of the device is like the other Trezor models, and that is to say shaped well and is easy to hold/input using the front-mounted buttons. It’s USB-C, which is finally a ubiquitous standard, so finding a sync cable is easy. I will say it would be nice if Trezor made a bluetooth version so you can use it via your phone (the cable works on Android phones, FYI). The display is small but is a bright white letter OLED screen and is easy to read. The one thing I really wish Trezor would add is a keyring or some other anchor port, so you can attach it to your keychain or a lanyard. Lastly, actually using the device is very similar to Trezor’s other devices, meaning it’s easy for anyone to use. I would easily recommend this to most anyone who takes crypto seriously, which everyone should. The only audience who may want to look elsewhere (i.e. Ledger) are those needing a battery & bluetooth, everyone else should consider this as a cold storage of your cryptocurrencies. The last reason, and perhaps the most important, is that Trezor’s entire software code is open source, so you know it’s not some potentially sketchy closed source software (the crypto industry is riddled with very clever scams) so it’s nice to know Trezor is as transparent as they are which is reassuring. Highly recommended!

This is my first ledger alternative.
Trezor is a well known company, considered to be tried or true.
I don’t take that very lightly because this is a huge thing in a small item.
I’m overly paranoid about my investments and its safety.
With this safe I’m only worried about losing it. Which I’ve found a way to lessen that worry.
Looking over the device I noticed it has its own look and won’t get confused with a thumb drive which is helpful.
It also seems secure in the way it’s built and secure.
It’s not water proof so don’t, just stay away from water.
Not your typical wallet.
Im having to educate myself with the fully open source hardware, software, and firmware.
The good thing about this item is that there is plenty of sources to help you learn it so don’t feel overwhelmed. Once you get the basics down, you realize you don’t need ledger live rather you can just use the treasure suit and get the exact same results with less frustration and time.
Overall, as a beginner, I think this is a good wallet to start with and once you learn more, you can open up more features, and it becomes an intermediate advanced wallet.
check it out for yourself

Great Offline Secure Wallet - Easy to Setup !

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
What is it ?
As someone who has hoarded small amounts of crypto for years, I am asked "what is ? / why a hardware wallet ?" by friends
somewhat often. Here it is in a nutshell - A hardware wallet lets you offline store a recoverable crypto wallet for multiple
coins whereas you or anyone you choose has the ability to manage that wallet. The T-Safe 3's job is to add a physical device
with encryption and a signature that can be "air gapped" i.e. not connected when not in use.
That sounds great but really - why would I use it or want one ?
1. Convenience of storing multiple coins in a single wallet - Bitcoin, ETH, etc . . . all in one place
2. Additional Security of a physical signing device to unlock wallets
3. Anonymity - TOR network obscurification built into client
4. No brokerage involved - it's a wallet.
These devices are inexpensive and this vendor has a great track record of support. I own an original V1 wallet and was able to recover a
wallet to this device in just a few steps!
Coin support - Native support for Eleven coins
(Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, XRP, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Zcash, Cardano, Solana, Polygon)
Native Support as stated by the manufacturer - T-Suite natively supports 16 cryptocurrencies for the T-Model T,
13 for the T-Model One, 11 for the T-Safe 3, alongside all ERC20 tokens (all T- models) and all SPL tokens (Model T and Safe 3).
Other cryptocurrencies are supported by T- hardware wallets, but must be managed using a third-party wallet such as Electrum or MetaMask.
These cryptocurrencies are referred to here as non-native assets.
Using the wallet software -
The desktop and web managed versions of the software have a simple and easy to follow layout. I had no issue retrieving my wallet addresses
to send to or with sending from the T-wallet. I was able to walk through a setup, backup and recovery in a few minutes per operation.
I would recommend to anyone setting one of these up - go through all of the steps prior to depositing larger amounts of crypto from another
wallet or from a brokerage.
What I love:
Human Controllable Air Gapped Device
Easy recovery - save your words !
Room for improvement:
More coin support would be nice however it supports all of the coins I hold long term.

This is by far the best way I’ve ever seen to your Crypto. This device allows you to take your crypto off-line and store it securely. The display is sufficiently bright and clear. The device itself is very small in nature so if you have a habit of losing things, I would encourage you to keep it stored in a safe place. Battery life appears to be really solid. A couple of small complaints would be related to the currencies that I could get supported as well as device support for their online portal not just the app. Overall, the pros are incredibly high and I would recommend this device to anyone getting serious and crypto. The packaging was very minimal and well appreciated and it was very thought out. The security seal is also a nice touch as to discourage tampering. The instructions were brief and easy and three stickers were included in the box because everyone loves stickers. There were two recovery seed cards included, which makes it really easy to store your recovery SEED off-line in a very secure place

***Introduction:***
I've recently gotten the chance to check out the Trezor Safe3 hardware cryptocurrency wallet, and it has been an interesting experience. I hadn’t ever gotten to use a hardware wallet before, but the device is solid and durable, and its compact size makes it easy to carry or hide away.
***Security Features:***
The security features are quite comprehensive. The device verifies its authenticity before use, and the Secure Element Chip keeps private keys safe. Setting up the PIN and passphrase adds an extra layer of security. The wallet receives regular firmware updates, and the open-source nature helps maintain trust in its security. I chose a 12-word seed phrase for backup, but there are other options like the 20-word Shamir backup. Using the Tor network and CoinJoin for Bitcoin transactions is a nice addition for extra privacy.
***Setup and Usability:***
Setting up the Trezor Safe3 was straightforward. I downloaded the Trezor Suite app and connected the wallet with the included USB-C cable. The setup process included security checks and setting up PINs and passphrases. I also selected the cryptocurrencies I wanted to manage. The wallet comes without firmware, so I had to install and verify it during setup. The Trezor Suite software is generally user-friendly, especially for mainstream coins like BTC, ETH, and POLY.
***Display and Interface:***
The display is clear, but the text is a bit small for my liking. The buttons are responsive and easy to use. The interface itself is fairly intuitive.
***Cryptocurrency Support and Compatibility:***
The Trezor Safe3 supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and many ERC-20 tokens. It works with wallet management software like Trezor Suite, Electrum, MyEtherWallet, and Metamask, allowing for the management of a diverse portfolio from one device. However, not all tokens are directly supported and some, like BAT, require third-party wallets. It also doesn’t support NFTs, which might be a limitation for some users.
***Performance and Support:***
The Trezor Safe3 is reliable in terms of performance. Transactions are processed quickly, and it handles multiple transactions and complex operations without much hassle. Trezor’s customer support is helpful, with a good knowledge base, community forums, and direct email support. The documentation is thorough, which assists with troubleshooting.
***Additional Features:***
A unique feature is that the Trezor Safe3 can be used as a 2FA hardware key for compatible accounts. However, it cannot be powered on via USB to get a wallet address without the Trezor Suite installed, which means always needing a device with the software for transactions. The mobile app allows for synchronization, but the desktop version has more features.
***Conclusion:***
Overall, the Trezor Safe3 is a solid choice for securing digital assets. It combines good security features with a user-friendly interface and broad compatibility. While it’s important to ensure it supports the cryptocurrencies you want to store, I’ve found it to be a reliable option. However, the small text on the display and the lack of NFT support are drawbacks.

Like i said its a great ledger alternative why well (1) because of the company's values and reputation, (2) the physical hardware seems more secure than ledger, because the device is completely sealed. And finally (3) trezor safe 3 has fully open source hardware, software, and firmware. Overall this wallet is great. Ps i also like trezor suite more than ledger live because it feels less bloated, yes less features, but it looks clean af, and other quality of life improvements made me switch.

Pro - Easy setup, very user friendly, supports many different cryptos. I really like the wallet.
Con - Impossible to purchase crypto through Trezor suite. I have tried to use Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Venmo, and direct bank account and all get declined during the process. FYI - I have an 862 FICO score. Purchases being blocked may have nothing to do with Trezor, but it's unusable if I can't buy crypto.

The Trezor Safe 3 is fairly friendly for someone with a very cursory knowledge of crypto currency. What I do know is that having a cold storage device is much safer than having your coins at an exchange. This is my first hardware wallet so hopefully my experiences help you make a decision versus some of the other devices out there.
It's not an expensive way to get into cold storage of your cryptocurrencies, it’s actually a fairly good value for all the features it offers. I personally only own bitcoin, but it supports quite a few of the more popular coins that are our there. My understanding is that this device is much more secure because of a Secure Element or EAL6+ that prevents a brute force physical attack. I’m pretty sure this is not an issue for most people unless you advertise you have a lot of bitcoin in your wallet. I honestly don’t have enough as I’m just starting out with them. I do know that having a device that is not at all connected to the internet, and has a barrier that only comes down with my authorized use is an important thing when holding any real volume of cryptocoins offline.
As a beginner, I found it impressive. The device itself is kinda cute, compact and lightweight, with a design that feels premium. I kind of wish it had more heft. I realize that I shouldn’t have been carrying it in my pocket since the loss of it means the loss of my MONEY! So at first I really wanted some kind of loop or metal clasp but now I just keep the thing in my safe at home. I would probably use it with a Tile or some other tracker if it had a loop, come to think of it.
The OLED display is clear and easy to read, making it simple to navigate and confirm transactions. But the buttons are kind of cumbersome to use for selections and input. I’m not sure what other input you might use, but I do prefer buttons over a touch screen.
The setup process is straightforward and fairly easy, although I had to figure out how to get my coins from the exchange I’m using into the wallet.
It's a great option for beginners like me because it has a good, straightforward interface and an easy-to-use software package. I’d recommend it to anyone I know who asked me about an offline, cold storage cryptocoin option. RECOMMEND!

I feel like the description from the manufacturer is very misleading. The wallet does function however it only has a handful of coins that the wallet supports directly. Most of the coins on the list you have to go through metamask and link it to the wallet. I was expecting this wallet to be able to support the “thousands” of coins it says it can directly. Honestly if I still have to use other wallets and this one, I’m not going to go through the extra steps. Sure it is one more layer of security but it doesn’t do what I expect it should and keep things offline. There is still a software wallet needed.

When I first got my hands on the Trezor Safe 3 in Cosmic Black, I was excited. The box itself was sleek, giving off that premium vibe. As I opened it, the first thing I noticed was how well-packaged everything was. The device was snugly nestled in foam, with a few extras tucked underneath: a USB-C cable, a recovery seed card, and a quick start guide. No unnecessary frills, just what you need to get started.
Taking the Trezor Safe 3 out of the box, it felt solid. The Cosmic Black finish is pretty slick—definitely a step up from the basic plastic feel of some other hardware wallets. It has a nice heft to it, suggesting durability without being too heavy. The buttons are tactile and responsive, and the screen is bright and clear. Overall, it looks and feels like a premium device, which is reassuring when you’re trusting it with your crypto assets.
Setting up the Trezor Safe 3 was straightforward. I plugged it into my computer using the included USB-C cable, and the Trezor website walked me through the process. The interface is user-friendly, even for those who might not be super tech-savvy. Downloading and installing the Trezor Bridge software took just a few minutes. Once installed, the setup wizard guided me through creating a new wallet, generating a recovery seed, and setting a PIN. The whole process was smooth and only took about 15 minutes from start to finish.
Security is where the Trezor Safe 3 really shines. First off, the secure element ensures your private keys are stored safely within the device, protected from physical tampering. The PIN and passphrase options add an extra layer of security, and the recovery seed ensures you can recover your assets if the device is lost or damaged.
One feature I particularly appreciate is the ability to verify transactions on the device itself. This means you have to physically confirm each transaction, reducing the risk of remote attacks. The firmware is open-source, which is a big plus for transparency and trust. Regular updates from Trezor also ensure that the device stays secure against the latest threats.
All in all, the Trezor Safe 3 in Cosmic Black is an excellent choice for anyone serious about securing their cryptocurrency. The unboxing experience is premium, the device material is top-notch, and the setup is a breeze. Most importantly, the security features are robust, giving you peace of mind that your assets are well-protected. If you’re in the market for a reliable hardware wallet, the Trezor Safe 3 is definitely worth considering.

The Trezor Safe 3 Crypto Hardware Wallet is a great choice at a value price.
Where to start?
First off, the unit came attractively packaged in a small box. What was inside?
*Trezor 3 wallet
*Recovery cards {2}
*Standard USB-C cable
While I have been involved in Crypto for the last 3 years, a friend of mine who has been involved in Crypto since almost day uses the Trezor Model 3. When this offer came available to me via the Tech Insider Network, I asked him if it was a decent choice. With his experience, he told me this would be a good choice. Even better, he offered to help set it up for me.
One nice option he told me about was that you can set it up with a software update that operated in the original Bitcoin only environment. Big score, I only do Bitcoin and relied on his years of expertise!
Anyhoo, he came over and I bought a 6 pack of his favorite IPA as a thanks for his help... After about 20 to 30 minutes, we had it up and running and were able to do a quick and easy trade. I fiddled around with it for a bit nd found it to be realtively easy.
End of the day, if you are looking for secure, entry-level and well valued Crypto wallet, this is an excellent choice.
I would reccomend it to a friend!

Keeping Crypto offline and safe

In the ever-evolving landscape of cryptocurrency, the security of one's digital assets remains paramount. Trezor, a pioneer in hardware wallet technology, has consistently delivered cutting-edge solutions for crypto enthusiasts seeking robust protection. Their latest offering, the Trezor Safe 3, is a testament to their commitment to innovation and security. I have explored the Safe 3's design, features, security, user experience, and overall value proposition, and ready to shed light on its capabilities and potential drawbacks. The Trezor Safe 3 exudes an air of sophistication with its sleek and minimalist design. Crafted from premium materials, it feels solid and durable in hand. Its compact form factor makes it highly portable, fitting comfortably in a pocket or purse. The device features a crisp and vibrant touchscreen display, a departure from the physical buttons found in its predecessor, the Trezor Model One. This touchscreen interface enhances user interaction and streamlines navigation, making it more intuitive for both newcomers and experienced users. At the core of the Trezor Safe 3 lies its unwavering focus on security. It boasts an embedded Secure Element (EAL6+), a dedicated chip designed to safeguard sensitive cryptographic operations. This chip adds an extra layer of protection against potential attacks, ensuring that private keys remain isolated and inaccessible to malicious actors and attackers.
Additionally, the Safe 3 introduces a novel security feature: the device-entry passphrase. This passphrase acts as an additional shield, protecting the wallet even if it falls into the wrong hands. The passphrase is not stored on the device itself, further enhancing its security. While the Trezor Safe 3 excels in many areas, it is not without its limitations. Some users might find the touchscreen interface less tactile and responsive than physical buttons. Additionally, the device's compact size might make it challenging to input long passphrases or recovery seeds. That small screen thing was a little irritating but you get over it. The reliance on a computer or mobile device for accessing the Trezor Suite might be a minor inconvenience for some users who prefer a more standalone experience. However, this is a common limitation among most hardware wallets. The Trezor Safe 3 represents a significant step forward in hardware wallet technology. Its unwavering focus on security, coupled with its user-friendly interface and extensive feature set, makes it a compelling choice for crypto enthusiasts of all levels. While it may not be the most affordable option on the market, its value proposition lies in its ability to provide peace of mind and protect one's digital wealth. I’ll pay anything for peace of mind. To keep my crypto safe, this is well worth it.

The Trezor - Safe 3 Secure Element Crypto Hardware Wallet is an easy to use, secure method for bit coin and digital currency data. The Trezor is easy to setup and comes with everything you need to get started. One USB-C cable and the device, along with instructions and helpful information for linking your digital currency accounts. You will need to set up the Trezor device using a laptop. There is no option for using a mobile or tablet device. I would imagine this is by design so that setup is handled securely. You can set up a seed of 20 words that protects your wallet (upgrades allow bigger seeds), an optional PIN, some additional steps, and then you can synchronize your wallet with allowed currencies that you may own.
There are some limitations to the types of cryptos supported by the device directly. Be sure to review the Trezor documentation for details on the specific types that are supported. Most of the common ones are supported.
I highly recommend the Trezor - Safe 3 Secure Element Crypto Hardware Wallet.
