    Great Headset - READ REVIEW

I previously owned Turtle Beach x11's for my xbox, but I started getting more serious about gaming and I began too look into buying a top of the line headset. I looked at many headsets, and the ones with the best features and reviews were mostly over $200, some over $300. Then I looked at BestBuy.com and saw this headset that I had never seen, on sale for 89.99 (not anymore though). As I read about it, I realized that it had almost the same exact features that the best headsets have, so then I wondered why it was selling for so cheap, and I did some research across the internet. I found the headset to have terrible reviews, with people saying it is "cheap and flimsy, sound quality is horrible, way too many cords and wires, uncomfortable, etc." So I again looked into buying other headsets, and again realized how expensive they were. I decided to go with this one because it was 60% cheaper and if I didn't like it I would just return it. Here is my unbiased honest review after having it for 2 weeks: Out of the box/setup: This headset comes in an awesome looking box, not that it really matters. Many things are included in the box, including extra ear and head-rail pads, which is always good. Setup was very easy, and if you are using an HDMI cord you will not have to order any additional cables, whether you have the old xbox or the new one. Overall: 9.5/10 Cords/Wires: I read SOOO many complaints about how many cords and wires there are for this headset. Those complaints are somewhat untrue, compare this one to another headset and you will see that there are really not many wires/cords. I would say it has about just as many or less than the most of the elite headsets out there. One of the wires is very long (12 feet) but you can easily hide it behind a tv or something. Overall 8.5/10 Looks: I am not a Gears of War fan, I have never played the game and don't plan on it. But if you are a Gears fan, I HIGHLY recommend this. The headset, wires, and decoder box have a great Gears theme. The headset glows red with the Gears Skull emblem on each ear, adding to the awesome look. Overall 10/10 Comfort/Fit: I also read that this headset is not comfortable and lacks necessary pads for comfort. I'm not sure what other pads would be needed, there is a head-rail pad, and the two ear pads, which is all that is needed. As I said it also comes with replacement pads. As for fit, I am very impressed with the way it fits on my head. The headset does a great job of cancelling noise and it is adjustable to make the headset bigger or smaller. If you have these on for a long time, you will need to lift them off you head every once in a while because your head and ears will start feeling humid. Also, the headset isn't too lightweight but it is certainly not heavy. Comfort 8.5/10 Fit 9.5/10 Sound Quality/Sound Settings: I previously owned a stereo headset, so this one took a little getting used to. The directional audio is flawless, you can tell exactly where any noise is coming from, which is truly amazing. The bass on this headset is a little deep and sometimes takes a little away from the true sound of the game, but it is something you will get used to easily and it really isn't a big deal. The overall sound that this headset outputs is very good but not perfectly clear. As for settings, you have 3 to choose from, two of them sound the exact same and the other is a stereo setting that I do not use. Overall 9/10 To wrap this up, I am extremely satisfied with this headset, especially with the small price I payed for it. Very little difference between this headset and $300 ones.

I bought this based on reviews around the interwebs. I was wanting a universal solution for the 360 and PS3, while this will not work for the PS3 voice chat, I was okay with that given the other features. When I got this home and unboxed it, the regret started to set in. All the cabling, including the base station felt very light and cheap. I've never seen such a thin toslink cable in my life. Xbox audio adapter was a nice inclusion, but even that was ridiculously cheap feeling. The headset itself is cool, the Gears artwork is nice and the set itself feels very sturdy with heavy cording and nice padding. The headset is pretty heavy, and after a couple hours of gaming I had sweaty ears and was starting to get a headache on the top of my head from the bar. In general though, very comfortable and pleasing to the eyes. The set was easy to hookup, however the stand for the base station was very flimsy. The weight of the cabling made it tip over when set vertically. The lack of an optical out so that you could daisy chain or pass through to surround sound seems like a no brain feature at this price point, but alas, not there. When I fired up the PS3 with this, I found the sound to be too bass heavy and have too strong mid tones and lacking high end. So I went to the manual to see what I could configure. Doh. You can choose from Stereo/Digital Surround Music/Digital Surround Movie. That's it. This was the moment when I decided to return them. I did not like the stock sound at all, the fact I couldn't turn down the bass made them flat out unusable for a long gaming session. At $180 maybe I had too high of expectations, but for a wired set, I would expect some extra bells and whistles. The directional sound was very good, I could easily tell where sound was coming from, even very good job of front and back. But the lack of configuration of the quality of the sound was a deal breaker. Returned and cast aside my hopes of a good universal setup and went with a PS3 only option. Writing a review on that headset next, it is much better and half the cost. I thought about getting a Turtle Beach setup, but the fact that the X41 would require an audio adapter for my 360 slim (I use HDMI) and rechargeable batteries, plus lackluster reviews lead me to just find a solid option for one system. Not sure why there isn't a solid option for the 360 with virtual surround that is wireless for the sub $100 price point. If Sony can do it, where are you M$???

One thing about the price... it is a branded headset so even though there are headsets that are as good priced at like $150. Do know you are paying extra for the brand. Good: - The voices can be heard loud and clear. You can even hear how your voice comes through the headset. - It does a good job of canceling out all the noise from the outside... Can barely hear someone walk into the room with these things on. - Audio is great I can tell where the footsteps and gunfire are coming from. - The design of the headset and the cable. - IT JUST WORKS! Bad: - The device to control the in-game and voice volume is a bit clunky. - Instructions on how to setup is not entirely clear. I know what I'm doing but for those who this is their first "real" headset may not. Ugly: - Too many cables or cables that are long. (So if your like me who set it up near the X-Box. Purchase a shorter optical audio cable and usb cable cause otherwise it will look like a mess.)

Not very good for a tournament style headset

Bought these after the mic in my x31 Turtle Beaches' went out. Of course i had black tie so best buy gave me in-store credit. I had always wondered how good the Trittons were because i see them quite often at gaming tournaments. Will return tomorrow for more Turtle Beach's. Pro's: Actual build material is good Nice design of gears on the side Cool that the sides light up The cables is braided Comfortable to wear Cons: Horrible audio (and I'm used to high end speakers)- the surround sound was off, too much bass, no mid tones Only use optical not stereo input The audio controller layout sucks and its huge. Can NOT use Razer Onza controller because the adapter is like those that used to come with that have the cradle at the bottom mic plug is in a bad spot Ear covers still let outside noise in Completely wired; xbox to audio box, box to headset, headset to controller Price

Headsets I've owned: Rocketfish wired gaming headset, TB PX21, Logitech F540. Primary uses: Xbox 360 and PC gaming I bought these to replace the TB PX21 and was very excited as I am a Gears of War fan. I knew going into this Tritton was a Mad Catz company and was hoping for the best. Taking these out, they were gorgeous and when I plugged them in the pulsating GOW logo got me very excited to test them. I instantly noticed a hissing like the volume was up all the way and after doing research I found out this is a common issue, so back they went. Was not impressed with surround sound I ended up going with the Logitech F540s for wireless and no surround sound.

I have a similar headset to this specific one, but my headset is not the gears of war special one. Have to say this headset is great! They are definetly WAY better than turtle beach headset's. Pro's: -Good price! -Very comfertable fit! -Great sounding quality! -Sleek stlylish look! -Tunes out everything going on around, excepty for the thing you are listening too! Con's: (Not really any# -Leaves imprint in hair where you have been wearing them. -Not Astro's #But still very good)! Overall I really recommend this headset, because I have had this headset for about two years and can't complain! *Better than Turtle Beach headset's*

So i bought this headset and thankfully got the warrenty. I dont know if its just me but the switch seems to be poorly made. Going through getting a third headset. Stops allowing other people to hear me. This time around i'll be looking to get a different headset equal value. I take great care of my headsets and equipment, but without any visual damage, it still seems fail to perform at the price level. Its definitely a great headset, as long as it still works.

I just got done trying these out and I got to say it is a let down The sound is low grade and turning it up you get a hissing sound And when you listen for most games it just sounds like a stereo headset If you are looking for a good headset I'd look for a different model or brand I'm looking at the turtle beach x41 next I hope it does better then this

This headset is great. When playing, just mute the tv speakers and you get crystal clear 3d sound from every direction. Even forward, which is the hardest to do for a 2 speaker headset. Voice is great, comfort is amazing. Would get again, and recommend to others.

The head phones are picking up a AM radio frequency 1530, its quite faint but annoying. In the cincinnati radio market that is ESPN radio. Mad Cat Needs to test these things before releasing them to the mass market.
