I've been in the market for a good pair of headsets for some time now. I've been using the el cheapo's that come with the xbox, and they're just not cutting it. I tried the Razer Chimera 5.1's and those were decent, but getting them to work wireless (as they're meant to do) was NOT working. I took them back and got another set, same thing. So I then forked out the money and got a pair of the new Tritton Warhead 7.1's. The sound quality coming out of those was amazing! But the price tag was a hefty one as well. I mean really - you can get an xbox cheaper than those things. So before I settled with those, I decided to take a chance with the Tritton Primer's. Sure, they're cheaper, and they're not 5.1 or 7.1 sound, and while it's a wireless headset, there's still a wire that's needed for online gaming (connects the controller with the headset). There is no where near a difference in sound of $240, the difference between the warheads and the primer. Unless you've got money to burn and really want to have THE top of the line sound, I'd REALLY recommend these Primers. They're not very heavy - I played last night for 5 hours and never really noticed they were on. The game volume and chat volume is all controlled right on the headset as are the more expensive models. You can certainly tell if someone is off to the right or left, or if someone is behind you. The bass is very good as are the highs. I have a pretty big head (wear a 7 7/8 fitted cap) and these fit perfectly! The mic positioned on the left earpiece and fully adjustable (certainly long enough to reach the front of ANYONE's face) and you don't have to shout like you do for the el cheapo's that come with the Xbox. One more thing I REALLY like versus the other ones is these operate off of AA batteries - not rechargeable. This way when the battery dies, you don't have to put the entire headset on a charger, you just swap out the batteries and you're on your way! So far I've got about 20 hours on these headsets and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. The volume is just as loud and crisp as it was when I first fired them up. All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone in the market for a headset. Even if you're contemplating buying a pair of the $25 el cheapo's, save up a little more and get these. You'll be EXTREMELY happy that you did! They're not too pricey - a little more than the price of a game - and they're very comfortable - you won't even notice you're wearing them.. ALL at a fraction of the price of the top of the line models. If you're not happy with them - take them back, but try them first. You'll end up being very happy with your purchase!

Ok, lets start out with how long I've owned this headset: 1 year. I have tried many of the turtle beaches along with the cheap mic that comes with the xbox 360. The Tritton Primer headset beats all of them hands down. This headset is compact, quality sound, good looks, and easy to set up which ranks all as positives for me. It does run on AA batteries which can be a positive or a negative, but in order to make it a positive I went and purchased some rechargeable AA's. The battery life for the headset is about 25 hours depending on how loud you have the volume for chat and gameplay. The bad reviews talking about buzzing noises probably had bad batteries or they were starting to deplete. I have heard this noise, but it's only when the headset is about to die from lack of battery power. This is why I have 6 rechargeable batteries (headset only needs 2). Other than that there should be no interference with this headset since it runs on Tritton's 5.8GHz system. The Tritton Primer headset is a sleek black that looks like an expensive headset. The controls for the chat volume, game volume, and mute button are all conveniently located on the left ear pad. The cable going into the left ear pad can be removed if you are interested in just listening to the sounds and do not like to chat (this makes it completely wireless). If you like to chat than you need the cable plugged into your controller. As for the sound from this headset it is definitely quality. No there isn't a huge BASS boom because the speakers are relatively small for a compact design. If your looking for a high bass gameplay than you shouldn't be looking for headphones (more like a good stereo). This headset still gives out the best sound out of any headset I have played with; currently at 5 different headsets. Finally the issue with being compact. Yes the ear pads are a smaller design than other headsets. Yes at first I did experience some discomfort with this. Yes the headset stopped hurting my ears after about 10 hours of gameplay. The headset is eventually going to wear according to how you use the headset, which will make the headset more comfortable. I still think the people who complained about discomfort didn't wear any other accessory on there ears. Many headphones cause discomfort for your ears when you buy them; why would a headset be any different? Overall if this headset breaks anytime soon I will not hesitate to go purchase a brand new one from a retail store immediately. If it is good enough for me to use than of course I would recommend it to my friends. If there are any comments I will be sure to answer them as soon as possible.

Lmao... I dont get all the other reviews complaning i just returned my "XP500" yeah from turtle beach those things are expensive but cheaply made that was my 3rd and final turtle beach most of them suffer from there 2.4 ghz cheap band and i went through all the trouble shooting everyone claims that should work and i called customer support i even re-positioned devices all around but still no consistent sound out of those things sure bass is deep the presets things are fun but only when they work if u own a wireless turtle beach and u say there is no interference "U LIE!! ok now to the good part these things are 100 bucks so dont expect 7.1 sound but u do hear foot steps u can hear the locaton of a chopper hovering over u without looking up to pin it this set keeps ur eyes down the sight and its very good at it. All those complaining need to take there set back and get some fuly functinol ones mine are flawless no problems on audio or chat like i did with my turtle beaches which cut sound off when too loud or ur the last one to be heard on chat dont be a fan boy and go for the turtle beaches before u try these hey its 30 days guarantee if u dont like take them back u wont regret it to much hype for turtle beaches are blinding people i paid 300 bucks for my xp500's and 250 for my px 5's that i still have and im using this tritton best selling point is there 5.8ghz which means no interuption oh yeah the set is kinda tight at the beginning but its plastic not rubber so it adjust to ur head size. Feeling comfy after several 6 hour sessions of battlefield Thanks for reading (See u in the battle field or should i say hear u in the battlefield )

    Very Disappointed - Read Review

I am going to start off by saying this is the fourth headset I've owned, and about the 10th I've tried out. I've used many different types of headsets, surround 5.1, 7.1, stereo, Tritton, Turtle Beach, Astro, etc. My opinion is completely unbiased and 100% honest. Here is my review on every little aspect of this headset: Looks: To me, this category means the least. The Primer has a shiny black which is pretty cool looking. The base is also shiny black. Looks 9/10 Comfort/Design: Unlike the normal headset, Tritton decided to make the Primer with tiny ear cups. Actually, the whole headset is like a mini version of the normal Tritton headset, but there ear cups are most important. They fit awkwardly on top of your ears, which is very uncomfortable, and the sound quality and "surround sound" effect are now diminshed. If you have the headset on for more than 45 minutes your ears will hurt. A l o t. Comfort/Design 5/10 Wireless: This is easily what irked me the most. I bought this headset because for only 99$, I would receive a 5.8ghz completely wireless headset! THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT do not be fooled! The only wire that this headset doesn't have that the average wired headset does, is the wire from the headset to the base/soundbox. You still have the wire from the headset to the controller for Xbox Live chat. Then at the base you must plug a wire from the base to the console for power, plus another wire from the base to an adapter, then from the adapter to the Xbox. Having 4 different wires is not wireless! Also, the wireless 5.8ghz technology is supposed to have no interference. I have constant buzzing in my headset from interference. Wireless 2.5/10 Sound Quality: For a $99 headset, I had the right to think that this headset would have pretty good sound quality for a stereo headset. Because of the on-ear design, the directional audio is lost, and some sound quality is also lost. Taking this into consideration, the sound quality is average at best. Couldn't hear footsteps in CoD at all. Tried other games and quality didn't improve. Sound Quality: 5/10 I also wanted to say I own a pair of Turtle Beach X11's. They are pretty much the same headset, stereo sound, game and chat volumes. Only differences are Primer has on-ear ear cups and has one less wire. The X11's which I bought 4 years ago for $50, are better than the Primer in every way. Comfort, sound quality, ear cups, etc. That is why I am disappointed. Every Tritton product i have ever tried has been awesome! What happened Tritton?

So I bought these because they were a good looking wireless headset at a pretty good price. I love the design they look very nice and are a good size, not too big and not too small. The setup is very easy with not too many wires. These are convenient for both the occasional and hardcore gamer. And the sound quality is pretty good. But now for the cons. The headset randomly turns off. Which is very annoying because sometimes you won't even realize it switchwed off. This happens atleast once every 10 minutes, no lie. And the next con is the discomfort. After awhile of wearing this headset it will cause extreme discomfort. Not only does it feel like your ears are getting sufficated but it causes pain from squishing your ears. I have relatively small ears and they still get hurt. Taking these off after an hour of gameplay is an amazing relief, now that my ears can breathe again. I came to the conclusion I'm going to return these. I loved the design, shape, and overall looks and setup but the discomfort and the frequent power off outweighs the good.

Best Wireless Headset for the Price

If you are looking for Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound this headset isn't for you. However, if you are looking for a quality wireless headset for a decent price I would give it a look. For the most part the sound has been excellent without interference thanks to the wavelength that it is on. The set up was pretty easy and it connected right to my Xbox without a hitch. The only con I can mention is that if you have the game sound up to high and there is a very loud noise there is some distortion but this is analog stereo sound and not digital. If you have the headset sound at a comfortable level there is not any distortion that I have noticed.

I bought this headset for $80 since it was on sale. The price for this was actually pretty nice. I thought the design looked pretty awesome, but I thought the headset could be bigger. As in usefulness, the headset seems to shut off? When I play COD Search&Destroy, I can't hear any sound coming from the surroundings of the map. The only thing I could hear were my friends or other players talking. The comfort is okay. If I had smaller ears, it'd work out. Biggest complaint here is adjusting the sync. Overall, great headset.

I had the turtle beach X11's and they both lasted about a year each then just stopped working one day. So i bought these trittons. They were extreamly easy to set up which i loved but right from the start they were painful to wear. They sit on top of your ears instead of around them. they are good quality but if you are looking for a comfortable pair of gaming head phones do NOT get these. Also i don't like how you cant hear what ur saying when you talk into the mic, thats what i liked about the turtle beach's.

Bought my headset this past christmas, liked them at first, had great sound but they were pretty uncomfortable on my ears compared to my old Turtle Beaches. Started to have a buzzing sound out of the speakers a month or so ago and then yesterday they crapped out completely. I can't hear the gameplay or my friends talking and it just makes a loud static and high pitched buzzing noise. So now they are completely useless and I don't think I'll be buying Triton anymore. Never had a problem with my Turtle Beaches.

These headphones have a bunch of cables. You have to tap into the audio cables coming out of ur xbox ( that means you cant easily disconnect them to put away). Also the volume control piece is too far down the cable so you have to look for it instead of being right by the headset so you can easily reach for it. The valume control looks and feels cheap. I would not recommend this if you value quality and ease of use.

OK, so i went against all the reviews and had to try these out. As soon as the you power them up you DO here a buzzing sound even if the base if off. They do not fit your head good at all, I would not be able to ware them for more then 20 min. Setup was easy. But the sound lacked bass, it had NO BASS. These might be ok some but MOST will not like them at all.

Great audio sound! Rivals any Turtle Beach for sound---but the battery life on this is horrible. It eats up batteries like food! If I had to do it over again, I would upgrade to another set that does not require AA batteries. I'll be paying more for this set in the long run. I would not invest in this product.

It was awesome for the first 10 days I had the unit. Then out of nowhere, the left ear went out and they became useless. Until that point they were great for $80. I switched them out for the Turtle Beach Tango's they're a little pricey but fantastic and continue to work after a week.

This headset looks beautiful but the ear cushions are tiny. The cushions squeeze around my ears when they should fit completely over them. Too uncomfortable. May work well for those with very small ears.
