Turns Stereo Headset to Surround... Amazing!!!

My first Headset was the X-41's which were decent. My gripes were: 1) Killed batteries, so rechargeables were a must (another $40 or so on top of your $200 investment) 2) Wireless interference with a lot of signals around the house (especially if your using a wireless adapter on your XBox) 3) High Price. When the X11's came out I traded down and never looked back. The sound quality was a slight downgrade but for what little improvement you got with the 41's it didn't justify the $140 price difference. Flash forward to the release of the DSS and the DX11's... WOW! I love the DSS and the simulated surround is amazing! Everything I wanted (no batteries, no radio interence) for $80 less (total for the DX11 kit) than the wireless X41's. If you don't need wireless (the wires don't bother me, all of the best headsets are wired) then I would highly recommend the DSS or the DX11's. $90 is a little steep on the stand alone sound processor, but worth it if you can afford it. I'm sure there is a lot of technology that goes into taking two channels and making them 7.1 (even though the XBox is only a 5.1 device) so I'm sure the price is justifiable. I'd recommend the DSS or DX11's to everyone who's looking for a quality headset, an audible improvement in your sound and an advantage in gaming.

    Awesome Upgrade!!!

I like to play a lot of FPS games most of them include the Call of Duty line. I've had the Turtle Beach X 1's for a while, and few months ago I upgraded from that to the Turtle Beach X11's, which made a lot of difference. I fist seen the DSS, at my local Best Buy store, it was in the DX11 package, so i decided to do a little research and seen that you can buy, just the DSS, unit which pretty much works with and headset. I decided to purchase the DSS. I have been messing with it for a day now, and I can tell you, it makes a lot of difference. It improves the games sound overall, also you can pinpoint your enemies easier to tell which side they are coming from and where all the action is happening. Thing I recommend the most is finding your desired volume lever work from low to high because, if you turn everything up at once it will sound as everything is distorted and might not sound so well. It has improved my game play the surround, makes sounds more crisp more clear and the bass is great too. If you like to game a lot and late at night this is a must upgrade. I did swap out the fiber optic cable for a different one, the one thats included looks thin and cheap so, i didn't bother using it.

A must have if you own Turtle Beaches

This item is a must have if you have Turtle Beaches. I have owned several headsets and the combination of this processor and the Turtle Beach X11's are by far the best gaming related purchase I have made. If you are a hardcore FPS gamer then these are for you. I have wasted money on Turtle Beach wireless headsets and they will eat your batteries and you will get wireless interference with other home wireless devices (wireless routers, cordless phone, wireless adapter operate on the same radio frequency as the Turtle Beach wireless sets) causing popping and static. I also tried Tritton AX Pros, they are good headset, but you need to be an audio major to configure them or optimize them. So I returned the AX Pro's today and picked up this processor for my Turtle Beach X11's as I was looking for a surround sound headset. I was amazed at what this little box added to my X11's. I play a lot of Call of Duty, and I heard things in the game I never heard before. I was able to pin point where campers were camping by them reloading their weapon. These are amazing. Buy them!! You will not be disappointed.

Great for people who love bass

I originally got this to get an edge in first person shooters. To hear locations of people around me. the problem was if you have the bass cranked up all the way, the bass almost cancels out any other sounds. The bass boost is that good! If you have a good headset, and are able to find a happy medium in the bass boost feature, the surround sound works well enough. I have no major complaints. I would have to say it saved my in-game life from time to time when I hear footsteps coming up behind me. Some games though the footsteps aren't very loud until you're enemy is right up next to you, i.e., Halo: Reach, Black Ops. Modern warfare 2, however, footsteps are pretty loud to begin with. When playing Madden 11, I feel like a player on the field. Fan sounds can be loud and can make hearing the QB cadence hard, which is what you want with surround sound! If you're not satisfied with the surround sound, there is a stereo feature you can switch to with the added benefit of the bass boost.

if u already bought a good stereo headset like i did (TB PX21's) and wanted to upgrade to surround sound, this is the way to go. I almost spent $200 on a new headset but then came across this. I didn't believe it was possible to get surround sound out of 2 speakers but i was wrong. how they did it i have no idea, but it works great. I fully tested it out on Call of Duty Black Ops zombie mode and its perfect. U can hear front, back, front left/right, rear left/right etc.. I saved at least $100 by getting this instead of a whole new surround headset!

I bought mine and It has improved my game play a lot. You are able to pinpoint exactly where someone is when they run around you. It has saved my back many times when some one has jumped behind me. Once I hear the feet hit the ground I turn around and pump lead into them. The reason durability is 4 stars is because it is pretty much all plastic and it weighs nothing. It can also work for pc. If you have a optical out on you pc, you can convert it to a 3.5 mm jack if you don't have one of those expensive surround sound headsets. I would recommend this to anyone with a stereo headset. Personally, I have the x11's

the dss made my x11s crisp and fun to listen to. this product did enhance the headphones. you can hear all the sounds in the game and know where the sound is just by hearing. very helpful in first person shooters. you can hear the little footsteps coming towards you.
