Great for starters, but kind of odd at times.

So I bought these for my xbox shortly after buying it, and at first they worked perfectly. I could chat with all my friends and still play games. When playing games, I could hear a lot of what I didn't hear at first. When I was looking at these, a Best Buy worker said they made you feel like you were in the game, and I certainly did. Then they broke. My chat suddenly wouldn't work right. One day as I was playing Minecraft for xbox, I couldn't hear my friend and so I unplugged them from my controller, and I could hear her again. But if I didn't have them plugged in my controller JUST PERFECTLY, they would mess up. Which got annoying fast. I had to sit there on my bed without moving, scared I would mess them up and have to figure out how to plug them in perfectly again. I got a new pair, which are still working fine. But I'm always scared they'll break again. So as I said before, they are great for those just getting into the "Turtle Beach Land" but you'll soon learn that you absolutely get what you pay for. And sometimes what you pay for breaks., like they did for me. OVERALL: Not bad. 7/10 WOULD BUY, MAYBE.

Great if you play any of the COD series

I recommend this headset if you like playing the cod series and hate getting killed from behind or not knowing where someone is. Because with these you can here foot steps and the lowest sounds possible which helps a lot in war games. My opinion first using it was great my kills in a match doubled or tripled just because I could here where people are. And if you are looking for a new headset get these the design is great, the price is reasonable and it will give you a great gaming experience and let you do better in games with surround sound to pin point exactly where things are coming from. If you don't like wires in the way/laying around get a wireless one because you have to connect three wires to different places. HOPE THIS HELPED

I bought these headphones for college so that I could play videogames or watch youtube while my roommate is studying or sleeping. The headphones have great sound quality and are very comfortable even after periods of 4 hrs. and up. Of course being Turtle Beach (known to break) and being the cheapest headphones that Turtle Beach sells at Best Buy, I highly suggest that you buy the 2 year insurance plan for $8. Only problems with this headpiece is that the adjustable sides slowly extend themselves and become loose on your head. My other problem is that sometimes when people talk there is a crinkling plastic noise (even after I turned down the volume, like it was the frequency that the headphones couldn’t handle). However don’t let that be a disclaimer, I have over 180 logged hours on destiny and over 100 logged hours on Battlefield 4 and this has only happened to me twice. However the winning argument for any set of gaming headphones is that they introduce to you sounds that you don't even know are in the game. For $50 I would say this is an essential for any casual and up gamer.

    Good for the price?

The Turtle Beach XL1 headset is a low priced mid quality headset. There is no doubt that you get what you pay for this headset in my own opinion, especially considering the fact that they were only $50 with a 2 year warranted plan that allows you to replace broken headset wires and whatnot. The only bad side to this product is that the wires may get tangled, and they aren't very long. Other than that this is a great choice for your children or beginner Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, or any other action games. From the sound quality to the microphone quality they are both 5/5. P.S One other bad thing is if your child, or even you, wear glasses they might become uncomfortable after long sessions of play time.

    A good starter headset

This was the first headset that I got. A friend recommended it to me while It was on sale at best buy for $30 and I wanted a headset that would allow me to hear the game volume so I thought why not. I purchased the headset and set it up in my tv. The setup was simple and after I was finished I tried them out. The first thing that I noticed was that I could hear everything fairly clearly (I play cod). The sound was good and I can hear footsteps but the problem is I can't hear where they are coming from which is an issue for me. I also noticed how uncomfortable the headset was. It was fairly heavy, compared to others, and it felt like the ear cups were squishing my temples. Comfort is more important to me than sound quality because I like to play long gaming sessions. Overall, I like the headset, but I don't love it. It is a good buy for the money and I would recommend it to a friend who wants an entry level headset.

I purchased this device to combine the audio from the X-box 360 with the headset into an all-in-one combination. What I found out was that the USB connector is used ONLY to power the amplifier/splitter box and can be plugged into any USB power socket. I also found that the headset has no grip and will slide off a desk surface by the weight of the amplifier, always place headset on rough surface and place splitter on to prevent sliding. I have enjoyed using this device on my game console, and also discovered that with the following adapters, it will also connect into your personal computer and cell phone or cordless telephone: Required for devices with 3.5mm (4-pole) jacks - 1 x 2.5mm-F (3 pole) to 3.5mm-M (4-pole) adapter Adapts RCA inputs to PC style connector - 1 x Stereo RCA (M or F) to stereo mini (M) I find this option to work very well for talking to people without having to stop using the computer and there is no interference from speakers.

I would recommend this for your first Turtle Beach headset. It sounds great, everything is clear. It's a good price for a headset of this type. But I would definitely suggest getting a wireless one later on. The cords (like most cords) get easily tangled. It can even become confusing to untangle due to the fact that it requires three cords to be attached (one to the console, one to the main port where you can adjust volume, and one to your controller). It can also (in my experience) be difficult. I wouldn't be able to hear my friends talking in the party and I have to unplug and replug the cord multiple times before it works again. Other than that, it's a fairly good headset.

I bought this headset for my son for Christmas. After using them for almost 3 months, he is still very happy with the product. We have tried other headsets in the price range, and none seem to have the sound quality that this set offers. The fit is nice, too, being able to be easily adjusted for different users. The biggest negative we've seen is that fact that the headset isn't as durable as we would have hoped. It's obviously way more hardy than the headsets that come with the Xbox system, but not nearly as sturdy as a more expensive brand. If you take care of this set after use, then this shouldn't be a huge problem Overall, I would definitely recommend this product. It's a great item for the price. Plus, being able to get a recognized brand headset, like Turtle Beach, makes both parents and teens happy.

I've been using these for about a month now. I am thoroughly satisfied with this headset. The sounds that come out of them are seriously good. I used to play with just the sound that comes out of the TV, but, using this headset, the games have become more alive. You can hear things that you couldn't hear on the TV! I completely recommend these to anyone who just use the TV speakers. Trust me, you will hear all the sounds the games make. They are also good because you can crank the volume loud on the headset when the family is sleeping, you wont wake them up!

Having been completely dissatisfied with another brand of gaming headphones I gave this set a try. The sound quality is very good. The ability to adjust the chat volume relative to the in game sound works very well and online friends say the voice quality of the mic is excellent, even when I whisper to keep from waking the kids. The only thing I'd change is the connection method. They pretty much can't be used for anything else and depending on how your AV/Gaming gear is arranged, it might be a big pain to connect them.

Great sounding headset, too many wires

This headset sounds great, not only to me but for other players. The mic is very sensitive and clear. I wish, though, that Turtle Beach could have made the cable a breakaway cable, for easier storage. This might just be me, but the earcups are slightly stiff, but I think they'll soften. For now though, it's a con. Other than that, amazing headphones for the price. UPDATE: I was regretful to see another pair of Turtle Beach headphones being reduced in price, down to a price lower than these headphones. And, those lowered ones are wireless!! Oh I don't know, should I return my headset? In the recommendations below called the Earforce X31.

    All I Needed

This headset is everything a 360 player could need. It has adjustable controls to set the voice and game volume just right, the headset is comfortable, and the wire is long enough to make sure no one will be tripped by the taught wire. The quality of both game and voice quality is fantastic, and I haven't heard any complaints about how I sound on the other end. And all for the great price, there isn't anything more needed.

Was not totally impressed with my purchase. First of all you have to be real patient if you don't mind wires being on your lap, or all over your entertainment center, floor, or around your feet. I noticed a continual echo that required me to replug in my wires to the headset over and over. I don't like NOT being able to turn up the volume on the ear piece like the x42's. Pay the money and upgrade to x42 wireless...10 times better. These are basic headphones for someone who might play in the middle of the night to avoid having to turn the TV volume up when you have sleeping family members ..but that's it.

I thought that this headset was going to be mediocre at best. But when I plugged this bad boy in to play Deus Ex Human Evolution... I was blown away by the sound quality and all of the other sounds that my TV never picked up. Buy this!!! I have no idea why some one would blow over $100 on the more expensive ones. I'm not a hard-core gamer, but this is the best purchase on headphones that I ever made...

This is the third set of the least expensive Turtle Beach headsets I have owned. The first set worked fine for 12 months before the wires developed a break in them. The one side of the headset stopped working as result. The second set developed a break as well in less than 12 months which resulted in the microphone not working. Since these are prone to breakage from normal use, I purchased the Best Buy insurance for the second set, which proivdes a free replacement set. My third set is the replacement set which has been going strong for 3 months now.

I Purchased a XL1 headset from BestBuy approx. 4 months ago and about a month ago the right side sound stopped working I was able to trace out the problem to a broken wire in the cable that runs from the headset to the vol. control box I am very disappointed with the quality of the product, This product was not abused in any way in fact I made sure of gentle use due to the price. I cannot recommend this product to anyone. save your money buy from another manufacturer.

Purchased for my 10 year old son. Box made no mention of how complicated it was going to be to hook it up. I expected for $29 for it to just connect to the remote controller. Opened box and saw Multiple wiring diagrams of how to connect this to TV and Xbox. Could not figure it out and I believe an adaptor was needed (Not included). Could not get it to work so back it went. If you want to be wrapped in 20 feet of cables and have to wire it to the Xbox and TV, then maybe its for you. If you want a simple headset don't buy it.

This is a great headset right up to the point to where it quits working. My son has been through two of these headsets in about a year. The cord on both sets shorted out and either he cannot hear others or others cannot hear him. Fortunately, I paid for the extended warranty. Unfortunately, you must pay the $10 for the warranty if you want it on the next headset. So now I have paid $60 for a $40 head set. The second headset went out today after only about 4 months of use. I think we are gong to move to something wireless if cost permits.

Don't waste your money. Less than two weeks after I purchased this headset, the cheap plastic they used to make this thing snapped. And this wasn't even the biggest issue I had. When I went to best buy to exchange it for another one I was turned down. Was told that I would have to take it up with Turtle Beach. So after hours of being on the phone, Turtle Beach denied me as well. Absolutely terrible. Best Buy doesn't back the products that they sell, and neither does Turtle Beach. If you want a headache, by all means, purchase this product.
