I bought another Turtle Beach gaming headset model and was utterly disappointed. I gave them every chance I could with multiple computer systems, games, movies, music... Horrible. I returned them to Best Buy with the intention of getting the Kraken, but I saw these on the shelf and really like the look and features on them and decided to give them a shot. On the way to the register I noticed that these were also Turtle Beach, but I figured what the heck. If they blow, then I'll just return them, too, and just go with an entirely different brand. These are awesome. Every pair of headphones I've ever owned made my ears hurt and would give me a headache within an hour. I can wear these for hours on end and even forget that I'm wearing them. The bridge has a nice lot of padding, so it takes the weight of the headphones off of your ears and you barely even notice it. The headphones themselves pivot on two axes making them fit very well. They don't squeeze your head like some other models do. The sound quality is amazing and the surround sound must be experienced because you just can't describe it. When I'm gaming, it makes things very intuitive and allows you to react quicker because you can hear the exact direction sound is coming from as well as the relative distance. Distance! How do they do it? No clue. Anyway, I'm not into MMO's, so I really don't care about the microphone, but when I did, some of the ones I had would get loose and fall down in front of my face. Very annoying. The microphone with this set is detachable. There's a standard input jack on the left headphone for the microphone, which is very pliable and can be adjusted however you want. Then, of course, when you don't need it, you can just unplug it and set it aside where it won't be in your way. One one of the complaints I have about the unit, however, is in the control box. It has a microphone mute button, a button that will cycle through presets for gaming, movies and music and two volume dials. One for chat and the other the main, if I'm not mistaken. My problem is with the volume dials. They really are just simple dials that when pulled across you leg, chair or whatever run the risk of going dead silent or blowing your eardrums out. It would be nice if the controls were designed is a different way, such as more friction on the dials or like the volume control on my phone. So. It really should speak volumes (no pun) that the biggest thing I have to whine about is the volume control. I'm just gonna scotch tape the sucker and get back to Skyrim. Absorbing dragon souls just sounds awesome with these on.

    Actually A Great Headset

I was in love with the Logitech G35 but I had to keep on returning it because the chipset inside would constantly die on it! I went to the Logitech forums and sure enough, tons and tons of other people having the same problem. Finally after like 6 G35 headsets I gave up. I bought plenty of other headsets and none of them worked for me until the Turtlebeach Z60s. Razer Kraken - Mic quality was bad. My friends said I sounded like I bought a cheap 10 dollar mic. Sound quality was okay. Cord is very short. Returned it. Logitech G930 - Very heavy on my head and wireless is annoying to recharge. Returned it. Plantronics Gamecom 788 - Quality was overall very Chinese and cheap feeling. Sound quality was bad, microphone quality I was told was also bad. Cord is very short. Returned it. Corsair H2100 - Also very heavy on my head. Sound quality was good but microphone quality, again, just wasn't there. The Logitech G35 beat them all out with a nice crisp, clear, good quality sounding voice for your friends to hear. Returned it. I have not yet tried any headsets by Steelseries, but I never had to. Because I bought the Z60 first. I give it a 4.7 rating because of two pretty minor things... One - The earcups are cloth material, not leather. Which basically means that you can hear people around you and noises around you better. Leather is noise cancelling, cloth is not. It took me about 4 and a half minutes to get over that minor irritation. Two - It has an inline control. Meaning that the cord, like 2 feet down, has a little box that controls the volume, mute, and sound preset. Annoying. The Logitech G35 has mute right on your ear which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED but I would rather have a headset that's going to last than having to return it every other week. Sound quality is 7.1 surround sound without a sound card. Simple USB connection and that's it. And microphone quality is amazing. Turtlebeach always has great microphones. I had a PX21 when I played console back in the day and that microphone was almost as good as this one. They just pride themselves on quality microphones for some reason and I'll stand behind it if that's how they feel. Good quality. Average Price. Good headset. I finally found one that works for me. /Sigh P.S. Oh, and the cord is also pretty short on the Z60s. I found a way that works for me but if your computer is miles away from your head then you may run into an issue with the cord length. Another minor bicker but it isn't as long as the G35s cord so I feel it's technically a "con" so I should mention it.

I really liked the features of this set. Separate volume controls for voice and volume control, detachable mic is awesome. However, this set only lasted me a little over a year and a half. The y-shaped arms that held the ear piece on the left has completely failed and broken. I was very, very careful with this headset, no abuse, no hard falls, nothing. The only thing I can think of is that I have a slightly larger cranium than average and taking the set on and off can create stress to these arms. The tight fit also was a negative. I'd have sore ears after wearing for a few games. I'd give it a higher rating but the lack of longevity is a major fault. I can't imagine what would happen with a younger gamer that takes their frustration out on the headset. It won't last long at all. I think my next set will have some sort of metal framework as the plastic used in these headsets leaves much to be desired.

So overall my experience with these has been mixed, the bad from it is that the amplifier is a bit of a hazard, under strain such as having it hang off to the side of your chair it can pull the wires inside of it from the solder(however it is easy to repair if you have a soldering iron). Other than that though the headphones themselves seem to be a good build quality and have excellent sounds both for input and output. They can also be switched out for other Turtle Beach amplifiers in case it breaks or you want better sounds, I went and changed the amplifier to the Z22 and it has made the headphones much better even. Overall is is a good buy, certainly not the best , but very good regardless

I use this headset when gaming, transcribing, and streaming movies/shows. It's very comfortable when worn for long amounts of time and I'm surprised by the bass that comes through the headset. Absolutely makes for an enhanced gaming experience. Others have noticed a significant difference in the clarity of my voice while using a VoIP, and I've also heard a huge difference when listening to others over one. It's also made a huge difference when transcribing (in which every word must be precise). I may not be a big fan of cords (love my wireless products), but in order to have amazing quality, I opted for this corded headset and I don't regret it one bit.

So today i bought this headset thinking it would be a good starter one. When i got home i was excited to hook it up into my pc and start gaming with its 7.1 channel surround sound. The overall sound it ok but it definitely should have been better for the $106 i paid. The mic is ok too but i had a problem where it just stopped working i tried everything. Then i just unplugged and plugged everything back in and restarted my computer then it worked perfectly fine and i had no more problems. Overall, this is a decent headset with pretty good surround sound and a detachable mic that sound ok.

The headset feels flimsy, it's surround sound is pretty bad but the normal sound is good quality. Pros: Speaker quality is pretty good for music or movie. Cons: very uncomfortable around ears, tight. The "virtual" surround sound causes static breaks when it tries to use different speakers. Horrible response time in pretending to be surround. The controller would get very hot and couldn't use its movie, gaming, music settings at all or it would cause issues. Basic turtle beach product, low quality.

Good Sound, Good Features, Poor Quality

I got the z60 to replace a set of broken sennheisers. I'm really impressed with the great sound, the features and comfort. But the build quality lacks. In just a couple of months, a cover plate (containing the serial number) fell off, then two month after that the earpiece separated from the headband. Waiting to see what TB support has to say. I'm not sure if I would ever buy another Turtle Beach product again unless support is super good.

I really wanted to like these more than a 3-star review... but, unfortunately they're not blowing me away. The sound quality is good, but the headset is uncomfortable and doesn't quite fit right. Also, there's no playback from the mic to the earphones, which is a little odd. I suppose that there are ways to fix this third-party... but, you shouldn't have to do that. All-in-all, it's a decent headset. I've certainly had worse!

My son (11) picked this headset to use with his computer for playing games and skyping. He also uses it for listening to his audiobooks. He really likes it. His brother (13) doesn't think they are very comfortable. When wearing this headset you can't hear the sounds from your surroundings very well, so it's hard for people to get your attention. Overall a good buy.

The DTS 7.1 Surround works great for gaming and watching movies. This purchase was a major upgrade over my $20 bargain bin Logitech voice chat headset. The fit seems a bit tight at first but it helps cancel outside noise and over time I have gotten adjusted to them. The only downside I have found is the inability to adjust bass levels as it can be too much at times.

A little cheap feeling and sounding for Turtle Beach. Too Mich bass, shakey miss, okay highs. It's just a little off all over. I bought this to broadcast on twitch, though. So for that, the Mic is really good. In game, directional audio is good too. I just wish the speakers weren't so cheap.

Fits comfortably on the head Installation was a breeze (Windows 7 64 Bit) Microphone can be disconnected (No funny public looks) Sound is really great and even Bass lovers can enjoy these reason for 1 star knocked off Corded. For the price and other new headphones on the market I would of expected it to not be corded.

When I first plugged this thing in after getting it the surround sound was not working at all it would only transmit sound to one ear after looking around and installing new drivers and uninstalling and reinstalling drivers nothing is fixed. If anyone knows a solution please tell me but I would not recommend.

Great headphones, would buy again! Here are the pros and cons. Pros: + Comfortable + Great sound quality + Separate Chat Volume (great feature!) Cons - Could have more bass considering the driver size - In hot weather, ear cups become really sweaty - Wish the volume controls were on ear instead of inline

I used to love turtle beach. Headset drivers were large and in charge. This headset was alright. It's great for daily usage but not to emerge yourself in a gaming atmosphere like other headsets but I'd still recommend these for its good build and good sound quality

I love these headphones so much that I purchased a second set for my son. They do not block out the environmental sounds so i'm surprised less by the dog barking or the doorbell ringing. the sound is clear and the volume is perfect.
