Great set of headphones. I read a lot of other reviews that were all positive mostly and decided to go with these and glad I did.

These Turtle Beach RECON 200 (Gen 2) headphones are incredibly comfortable! They are replacing a 7+ year old pair of genuine Sony Silver Wired headphones that I've been using most weekends.
Our normal gaming sessions last for about 5 hours on a Friday or Saturday night, and these new Turtle Beach headphones are so incredibly comfortable to wear. The memory foam ear cushions are covered in athletic fabric, and the foam itself is very soft and breathable. I would usually end up with hot ears and have to move my original headphones around to remain comfortable. I was able game for 5 hours without even thinking about the headphones. They memory foam also helps accommodate people who wear glasses, the pressure from the cups on the head is minimized, leaving them a lot more comfortable for glasses wearers. The padded grey headband also just rests on top of your head, and doesn't feel heavy or dig in at all.
Sound was loud, clear and crisp, although, I did have a slight amount of really low level feedback in the background, and with the variable mic monitoring feature that these headphones have, I could hear my voice within my own ear cups when talking, which took some getting used to. But once leveled out with the independent game volume and voice volume controls incorporated into the ear cup, they were great.
The sound was truly immersive, clear definition of sounds, explosions, footsteps, and according to my buddies, my voice was clean and crisp and they had no issues hearing me at all. This is absolutely key, as when you are strategizing, you don't want to have to keep repeating yourself, or interrupting. Everything was clear and crisp, both talking to my buddies and also hearing every word they said. You can also flip the mic up to mute, if you need to snack/drink/cough!
These headphones also feature 'always on' Bass Boost, provided by the 12 hour battery life included in a single charge (that can also be charged while playing). I wouldn't say it was 'earthquaking rumble', but it was definitely present and sounded good.
Overall, very happy with these lightweight, durable, and 'color co-ordinated with my PlayStation 5' (i.e. white) headphones! They are very comfortable, with clear sound, decent bass, good microphone pick up, easy of use controls on the ear cup to dial in your volumes (and even switch between XBox and PlayStation settings).
I would recommend this to a friend

Great headset, I like that I can use it with multiple devices. So far I have used it on my PS4 and my Nintendo Switch (I would guess you can use it with a PC too, however your pc may need one of those mic and headphones in one minijack, if not, you can buy an Y adapter).
These are battery powered, however don't get confused, it doesn't mean they're wireless, as they still need a physical connection to your console of choice via the minijack cable (it connects to your PS4 controller audio minijack output, or the switches out minijack). It has a battery because, and this is my guess, it has some sort of DAC or power booster (it definitely has, as the sound is much more powerful than any passive headphones). So you have to make sure they are charged with the included USB type C cable (finally, type C usb is becoming the norm).
The mic flips up or down (effectively muting or unmuting the mic), very convenient. Also, they memory foam is really good, when I'm not wearing my contacts and wearing glasses these were extremely comfy, so peeps with glasses, don't be afraid.
Highly recommend them, these are a no frills very powerful gaming headphones!!

I recently picked up the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 Powered Gaming Headset and it has completely exceeded my expectations! As a serious gamer, sound quality and comfort are huge priorities for me, and this headset delivers on both fronts at an impressive price point.
Sound Quality:
The audio performance on this headset is fantastic! The 40mm drivers provide clear, immersive sound, and the powerful audio delivers every detail in my games, from the subtlest footsteps to booming explosions. I play a lot of first-person shooters, and the surround sound effect is incredibly accurate, helping me pinpoint enemy positions with ease. Whether it's intense gaming sessions or just listening to music, the sound quality is top-notch.
Comfort:
What really sets the Recon 200 Gen 2 apart is its comfort. The ear cushions are soft and breathable, and the adjustable headband ensures a snug fit without feeling too tight. I’ve used it for hours at a time, and I never experience any discomfort, which is a big plus for long gaming sessions. It’s lightweight but still feels durable and solid.
Microphone:
The flip-to-mute microphone is a great feature. It’s crystal clear, and my friends in party chat have told me they can hear me perfectly, even in noisy environments. Plus, I can mute it easily by flipping it up, which is a nice, convenient touch.
Design and Build:
The sleek black design is stylish but also functional. The build quality feels premium, and the headset itself is surprisingly sturdy given the affordable price. The power boost via the built-in battery is a great touch, providing enhanced sound without needing an external power source, which is something I really appreciate.
Compatibility:
This headset is compatible across all major platforms—Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Whether I’m gaming on my Xbox or PlayStation, the headset works seamlessly, and setup is super easy.
Value for Money:
For the price, the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 is an absolute steal. It punches way above its weight in terms of performance, comfort, and features. You won’t find a better headset at this price point that delivers this level of quality.
Conclusion:
If you’re looking for an affordable yet high-performing gaming headset, I highly recommend the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2. Whether you're a casual gamer or someone who spends hours in intense gaming sessions, this headset will meet your needs and more. Excellent sound, comfort, and performance—it's a winner!

First thing I asked was, what's with the charging cable for a wired headset? Apparently this is actually pretty cool. The drivers are battery powered to amp up the sound quality for a more immersive gaming experience. I don't know why they feel the Playstation setting is louder than the Xbox setting. Reason being, it doesn't matter what system you play on, even for pc, just leaving it on Playstation mode and you'll get that extra kick. The revocable driver muffs are cloth and very comfortable. I've gamed with the for 5 hours straight before taking a break, even then, I didn't feel any ease fatigue. I just needed take a break, intermission, so to speak. I wear glasses, so it's important to have comfortable headphones. Job will done, on that front. The white goes great with my pc and would look great with a Playstation 5 or Switch OLED as well. All about that color coordination y'all. The 3.5mm jack allows you to use this for any of our consoles, PCs or smartphone with an aux port. Of course there's the boom mic and easy to use controls on the ear muff. Turtle Beach has made these very durable for the price tag. I really can't say anything bad about them. Only thing I can say is, if you can splurge, get yourself some wireless headphones, just for the ability to move more freely, but that's really it. These are some excellent headphones. And this is a great price for them. I believe they come in black or white, so you get to pick your flavor. Happy gaming. Yes. I recommend these.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An Absolute Game-Changer! Has Immersive Sound, Comfort, and Cross-Platform Excellence!
The Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 is hands down one of the best gaming headsets I’ve used at this price point, and it absolutely delivers on every front.
Sound quality is 10/10.
The audio is crisp, punchy, and deeply immersive. The bass boost feature makes explosions in Call of Duty thunderous and cinematic, while still keeping dialogue and environmental cues sharp and clear. Whether you're sneaking through a stealth mission or in the middle of a chaotic multiplayer match, the directional audio gives you a real competitive edge.
Mic clarity is crystal clear!
The flip-to-mute mic is not only incredibly convenient, but the sound quality is impressively clean. Teammates have commented on how clear my voice sounds with no static, no distortion. Perfect for team-based games or even Zoom calls.
Cross-Platform compatibility is seamless!
I’ve used this headset on my Xbox Series X, PS5, PC, and even with my phone, just plug and play. No hassle, no software needed. It's a true all-in-one solution for gamers who play across multiple systems.
Comfortable & built for long sessions:
Turtle Beach nailed the comfort. The memory foam ear cushions with ProSpecs glasses-friendly design are a dream for long gaming marathons. I’ve worn them for hours with zero discomfort, even with glasses on.
Battery life has impressive performance.
The built-in battery powers the headset’s amplification and bass boost features for up to 12 hours, and even if the battery dies, you can still use it passively (a major plus). It charges quickly via USB-C, which is another welcome update.
Design is very sleek & stylish:
The white version is sleek, modern, and looks amazing with next-gen consoles. It has a clean, premium aesthetic that stands out without being too flashy.
My Overall Opinion.....
If you want rich, immersive sound, crystal-clear voice chat, all-day comfort, and true cross-platform convenience, all without breaking the bank, the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 is a no-brainer. Whether you're a casual player or a competitive gamer, this headset will elevate your experience.
Highly recommended. A must-have accessory for any serious gamer!

Good Headset and a Good Price

I have used many headsets on my various Xbox models over the years. This is the 3rd from Turtle Beach. They continue to put out good gaming audio products.
Pros:
- My favorite feature is the mic monitor. None of my prior headsets had one and this was handy to be able to check if others can hear me ok or if my breathing could be heard. You never want to be the annoying person with a noisy mic in the party.
- Sound was crisp and clear. Terrific audio quality for the price
- This headset is compatible not just with Xbox models, but also the PS4, PS5, and can be used on PCs as well.
- The headset is rechargeable, allowing for up to 10 hours of gaming at a time.
- The feature to mute yourself simply by lifting the mic up and back is creative
Cons:
- My concerns all have to do with the USB-C charging cable and port. While the headset is rechargeable, the charging cable isn't long enough to conveniently play and charge at the same time. It's barely 2 feet long so expect to charge in between gaming sessions rather than during unless you have a USB port very close by. Another concern is that the USB-C connector doesn't fit neatly into the port on the headset. I have to use a little bit of force to get it plugged in. This doesn't impact functionality, but does seem like a minor design flaw.
Overall, I'd encourage others to give this headset a look. It's affordable and performs as advertised. I'm a Turtle Beach fan.

--- SETUP ---
This wired headset needs no charging for use. Plug the headset into any 3.5mm jack and you’ll be listening to your audio in no time.
--- FEATURES ---
40 mm speakers with rechargeable battery-powered bass boost, lightweight, ear-covering cushions, flip-to-mute mic, glasses-friendly, mic monitoring.
--- PERFORMANCE ---
As soon as I put on the headphones, my glasses-wearing self immediately appreciated the comfort. It is noticeable compared to headphones that don’t feature glasses-friendly comfort. I first tested this gaming headset with my PC on single-player games like the atmospheric Death’s Door (on Steam), and 12 Minutes (on Xbox GamePass). I listened to my games for about an hour without turning on the power and I was enjoying the games just ok. After my ears normalized the audio, I flipped the power switch. The switch features flipping up for PS or down for Xbox. As per the instruction manuals, when connected to a PC, it’s recommended you flip up for PS. The audio suddenly felt more full and louder. I had to lower the volume so that it wouldn’t be so loud. Definitely the best was to play, but if they run out of juice, you can still continue enjoying the audio sans the boost.
I then plugged in my headphones to the Xbox Series X to enjoy co-op matches of Back 4 Blood with a friend. We joined a party and my friend didn’t notice any difference in hearing me, which was great. My normal headphones for the Xbox Series X are a wireless surround sound headset priced way higher than the Turtle Beach Recon 200. Before I played with him, I made sure to set the Xbox settings for optimal sound. The instruction manual tells you what to change in the sound menus (pictured in this review for easy reference). I enjoyed hearing every undead squeal as my friend and I mowed them down.
--- EXPECTATIONS ---
After 2 8ish hour sessions of multiplayer and a few 3 hour sessions of single player games, the headset felt comfortable on the head and while wearing glasses. The mic is more than capable of keeping up with my other higher end headsets and I like that even if I run out of battery for the bass boost, the sound is decent enough to enjoy. I love the control of the volume on the headset itself as well as the control of mic monitoring.
--- APPROVAL ---
If your significant other needs a new headset or you have a new gamer in the family, this is a great starting place that I would easily recommend to anyone.

Great headphones.
Easy to use. Easy to setup.
I charged them up plugged it in and I was all set.
Used on my switch. Volume and mic controls are easy to use.
Can run without power assistance. Volume is just low. Turn on for volume booster. Mic mute is neat. Just raise the boom and it mutes.
Comfortable to use. This uses a different material. It feels more breathable but it does not seal out all ambient noise because it is porous. So make sure you know that before you buy it. Was very easy to wear.
Battery use is pretty good. Played 5 straight hours and no problem.
Tested using Dolby Atmos sound and it was pretty decent with surround sound capabilities.
Cord came attached which is good and bad. Good you will never loose it. Bad that it might get in the way sometimes.
Regardless. Based on my experience I would recommend this product.

TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 GEN 2 POWERED GAMING HEADSET FOR XBOX ONE & XBOX SERIES X|S, PLAYSTATION 4, PLAYSTATION 5 AND NINTENDO SWITCH - WHITE

Best Buy Tech Insider Network
GOOD GLASSES FRIENDLY GAMING HEADSET BY TURTLE BEACH
OVERALL
The TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 has many great features, and is a good value at this price point. It is a gaming headset first, but does a good job at just audio as well. Since I play on PC, PS, and XBOX, I think it is great that it works well for all 3, with a physical switch to select between them (use PS for PC). I wear glasses, so it is sometimes hard to find a headset that is comfortable with glasses.
The TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 has just enough pressure to keep the headset on, without smashing your glasses into your ears.
I especially appreciate that there is a separate microphone monitor volume, so I can hear myself when I talk and I don’t have to remix it through the console. I also like the flip up MIC to turn off the mic.
The controls are easy to find without being too close together as is the case with some headsets. It is a wired headset, but if you want to use some of the features like mic feedback and bass boost, then you will want to charge it before your next gaming session. I did find that if I had it charging and playing at the same time, I had a slight buzzing sound (probably a ground issue on my PC). This is easily solved, by not charging it while playing.
The fit is comfortable for my large head, though it does not use the newer “floating” style headband found on heavier sets. Overall, that is OK, as the TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 is not very heavy at only about 275 grams. It was still very comfortable. The padding on the ear cups is perfect, not too hard or too soft.
Note that if you use it on a PC that has separated MIC and HEADSET jacks you will need a splitter/combiner that is not included with the headset.
SOUND QUALITY
Audio is really subjective and hard to review, you have to test things out for yourself to find your own sweet spot Here are my subjective ratings. (10 = Best)
OVERALL SOUND CLARITY = 7/10
BASS NOTES / RUMBLING / EXPLOSIONS = 6/10
CRISP HIGH NOTES = 6/10
For my taste the sound was good, but average, nothing wrong, but nothing special. It was surprising to me that the bass was not stronger given the “always on” bass boost.
MICROPHONE QUALITY
The microphone is very clear (better than most in this range), but because there is no active noise canceling, you could also hear every keypress on my mechanical keyboard, while I was gaming on my PC. The mic almost seems omnidirectional due to all the background noises it was picking up.
PRO’s
- Lightweight
- Glasses Friendly
- Hardwired, so you know it works with everything
- Powered for bass boost
- Selectable between PC/PS/Xbox
- Quality Build Overall (but I don’t like the cheap cord vs braided cords)
- Great sounding Microphone
- Microphone Monitor W/ Separate Volume
- USB-C Charging Cable (instead of Micro USB)
RECOMMENDATION
The TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 is a great value headset. It is not an ultra high-end headset that costs 10X either. It is a very attractive and overall good all-around performer that works on all platforms without breaking the bank. I have other gaming headsets in this range, that might sound a touch better, but without as many features like flip up mic or microphone monitor. As I said, the sound part is really subjective and changes even from headsets of the same make and model due to slight variations in the mfg process.
Even though the sound is not perfect, I still give the TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 full marks due to its overall build quality, comfort, and features. In other words, I don’t expect studio quality sound in this range.

Bass boost, even in the mic?
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I like the idea of having boosted sound for a wired headset. But, it seems that it is the bass and the mic monitoring that is the only thing that is boosted while I have had other non-powered headphones sound about the same. Switching between PS and Xbox is really a profile preference of sound. It sounds more like PS adds a bit more high end sound than bass when playing on an Xbox. When talking to friends in game, all of them asked if I had a cold as the mic made me sound stuffy, or had more bass. This didn’t matter if it was powered or not. As for the mic, it is flip to mute, but your only confirmation it is muted is feeling it click in place or all the way back.
As for comfort, I felt the whole headset was stiff. Even though the earcup padding is soft to the touch, it feels rigid and the texture of the cloth is noticeable as the cups are a bit small and touch my ears.
Running an audio check on these compared to a non-powered set left me a little more disappointed. The bass boost is obvious when flipped to PS or Xbox, but it wasn’t anything different than my other set that didn’t need added power. There was also a check to see how far you could hear decibels below full sound and in powered/non-powered PS/Xbox the sound for me was no longer discernible after -54dBFS while my non-powered set could get to -60dBFS.
Overall, these headphones just felt average. Even with the added power option it just felt like it was trying to compensate for weak drivers. Plus the fact that the microphone sounded bad to everyone listening to me compared to several other headsets lets me pass on these.

The Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 Powered Gaming Headset offers impressive sound quality and comfort at an affordable price. Compatible across multiple platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Mobile, and PC, this headset is versatile enough for all your gaming needs.
The 40mm drivers deliver crisp, clear audio, allowing you to hear every footstep and gunshot with precision. The sound is enhanced by the amplified audio via the built-in rechargeable battery, providing an immersive experience whether you're playing solo or with friends. The adjustable, over-ear design ensures a comfortable fit, and the lightweight build makes extended gaming sessions less tiring.
The mic quality is solid for chat, with a flip-to-mute feature for easy control. The headset also features a durable build, ensuring longevity. However, while the Recon 200 Gen 2 delivers excellent value for its price, some users might find the bass slightly lacking compared to higher-end models.
Overall, this headset is an excellent choice for gamers looking for an affordable, comfortable, and high-performing option across multiple platforms.

I haven’t used a Turtle Beach headphones in a long time and I decided to try these and I wasn’t disappointed by the Recon 200 Gen 2. The headphones came in a simple no-fuss box with just the headphones (wired), a USB C charging cable, and the usual paperwork.
The headphones have a simple design and seem to be constructed of mainly plastic with a steel piece running through the headband. I must point out that the headphones are very light and this might work out very well with wearing them for very long sessions (after a while I barely felt it, and I have a big head). The earcups of the headphones are very comfortable, they have somewhat of a mesh design and they are very breathable, they didn’t heat up much while wearing them for a couple hours. You can also stretch them out very far with no fear of them breaking, I tried this a few times and they felt fine and returned to their original default shape with no issues. The earcups can also rotate so that they can lay flat on a table.
Next, we have the controls, which are all located on the lower third of the left earcup, and easy to use. You have a volume dial, a microphone volume dial, a switch that goes between the Playstation setting (shift it up), off setting (center) and the Xbox setting (shift down), USB-C port, then the 3.5mm cord( not detachable). On the outside of the left headphone, you also have a nonflexible mic (you cant extend it or bend it into your preferred position) that flips up for mute.
When it comes to sound, I don’t have much to complain about here. I must first point out that to use the headphones they don’t need to be charged, but to get the console-specific sound profiles which include a boost to the bass, the headphones will need to be charged. According to Turtle Beach they should last about 12 hours, and I have used them on and off for the last two days for about 13 hours and they are still working, so I can confirm they beat the time suggested by Turtle beach. Eventually, when the batteries run out of juice the sound does change and sound less impactful but it doesn’t stop. The most noticeable change you will notice is that the Playstation setting, is clearly much louder than the off setting, but it is also louder than the Xbox setting.
I’ve used this on a Playstation, a Switch, and on a PC, and across all of them, the sound was ok. I can say the gaming experience was definitely enhanced by using these headphones, not anything out of this world but definitely noticeable and it was appreciated. Also, the mic is pretty decent and I had no complaints from anyone who heard my voice through the Recon.
My only serious gripe with the Recons is that the sound bleeds pretty badly. Even at low volumes, anyone nearby to you even in a not so quiet environment will be able to make out what you are listening to.
Overall, the Turtle Beach Recons Gen 2’s, are a decent pair of budget headphones that are comfortable, durable, and would be greatly suited to gamers and anyone who doesn’t care too much about sound leakage.

These are the headphones i purchase everytime i buy a set. I have 5 kids, ages 7-19. We have 5 xboxes and multiple computers. We play video games a LOT. I would not be so niave as to say these are the “best on the market”, but they can be found everywhere and work on all the different systems we have (more than just xbox). There are settings that need to be used on the xbox as well as the headphones, and you do need to charge them. I get about 10-20 hours or so from a songle charge depending on how loud i have them turned up, and its the same cable as the controller uses to charge them. They could be a little more comfortable on the band over the head, but i don’t have a headache when i play for 5 hours or so on a Friday night with my friends. Dollar for dollar, these are easy to use, comfortable, and last about a year before they have issues. I keep buying them to replace old ones because other brands at this price do not produce a good quality product.
