The Turtle Beach – RECON 70X Wired Stereo Gaming Headset for Xbox One is a great headset for those who are on a budget but are still looking for a reliable headset that still offers great quality and comfort. There are some headsets out there that cost a lot more than this one but unless you’re a professional gamer, I would suggest going with this one as it basically does everything you would expect a headset to do at a much cheaper price. The surround sound really comes in handy when listening for footsteps or shots if you play those types of games because it gives you an idea of where these sounds are coming from in relation to your character’s position. This can be very advantageous, especially if you are playing against someone who is reacting to sounds that are simply coming from their TV. One thing to note is this headset can only be used right out of the box if you have a controller with the 3.5mm jack built-in. This is very important to note because not all Xbox One controllers have this jack built-in and you should verify the type of controller you have prior to purchasing this headset. I own a couple of the original Xbox One controllers which do not have the 3.5mm jacks built-in but also own one of the newer controllers which do have this port. If you do not have controllers with the 3.5mm jack built-in, you will not be able to use this headset without an additional adapter. This additional adapter does not come with this headset so make sure you also purchase one of these adapters if you plan on using this headset with an original Xbox One controller. In my case, I already had one of these adapters leftover from an old Turtle Beach headset that lasted a very long time so I am able to use this headset with both my older controllers and my newer one. I actually prefer using this headset with my older controllers and adapter since the adapter has its own volume control and mute function. One of the only drawbacks of this headset is the mute function. In order to mute the microphone, you have to physically rotate the mic itself into an upward position. I like having a mute button easily accessible near the controller itself but this is a minor issue that doesn’t detract from the other great features of this headset and something that is easily remedied by using the adapter mentioned above. Based on all of this, if you do not have a controller with a built-in 3.5mm jack, don’t let the adapter issue dissuade you from purchasing this particular headset. Once you have the necessary adapter, it actually makes using this particular headset even better and I highly recommend this product to anyone in search of a high quality gaming headset!

Bought these headphones a little over a year ago and the had cheap audio quality. The even stopped working just yesterday. Definitely recommend a different brand.

my daughter received these for christmas for her controller but after only having them for 6 weeks she broke the port inside the controller She really likes them but now I have to return them for a different pair.

One of the worst headsets I can remember buying. Could not for the life of me get this headset to stop echoing when connected to xbox controller. No amount of settings changes would work. Idk if it was that the tiny mic arm was too close to the speakers or what. Don't recommend.

Most uncomfortable headset ive ever used and theres no mute button. I gave it two stars because at least its a functioning headset. It also functions on both ps4 and xbox which was a pleasant surprise

Bummer…my son says his friends complain that there is an echo when he uses this headset. When he wears his older taped together set, there is no echo.

Pro- Work well, noise canceling. 3M jack allows to plug in many places, works with phone. Con- top ear connecting strap can hurt/ irritate top of head after a while, need to readjust.

Purchased and exchanged this headset when it stopped working after 1 week, thinking it was defective. Had the exact same problem with the second set. When reading troubleshooting online, they acknowledge that you can't use the headset when the xbox controller is plugged in, that it may require purchasing a headset audio control adapter (approx. the same price as the headset). you cant do both game audio and chat, you can only choose one. Audio was so low even at the highest setting that you could barely hear anything. Even the salespeople tried to steer me towards different headsets..i should've listened!

Some of them have had some issues setting up for a first time use. This one was as easy as plug and play and so the kid in the house was super happy and excited and I just loved how much cheaper it is is than a lot of the others.

It worked for maybe 3 months and then I had this issue where I had to keep adjusting the volume in order to get my right or left ear to have volume

Great Sound but for some reason my microphone doesn't seem to work

Just bought a few hours ago. Microphone will not pick up my voice and wasn’t playing game sound either. Will be returning after Christmas

This is the second headset that I have purchased in the last couple of months. They simply stop working after a couple of weeks. Will not buy again!
