We are sorry to hear about your experience with your Recon 70. The headset's microphone boom acts as its own mute switch. Rotating it in to the muted position should result in your microphone muting.

Due to the wide variations in head sizes and shapes, it's not possible to design a one-size-fits-all headset that will fit absolutely 100% of all users. However, we consistently provide a comfortable fit for the overwhelming majority of our customers.
Please bear in mind that your headset will break in over time, which should result in a better fit after you've used it for a while.

Great gaming headset!

We have a previous Turtle Beach model (the Recon 50), and we really like the Recon 70 much better! A big improvement from the Recon 50 is that the volume control is at the back of the base of the left ear and that there is an auto-mute function when you flip up the microphone (instead of the in-line controls). Also, it is a sing wire going to the left side, making it easier to put on. The sound quality is great and the headset is lightweight and very comfortable. We also have another well-known gaming brand headset, and these feel much better when wearing them. One thing to notice is that you can get this great sounding, feeling headset for a really great price!
