Sumptuous sound marred by iffy ergonomics/controls

Bottom line: the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max is an incredible-sounding wireless headset with enough palpable heft in the low end to satisfy most bass-heads and render bombastic gaming soundtracks with aplomb, yet not come off muddy or thin and sloppy in the middle & higher registers where it offers more-than-pleasing speed, detail, and articulation. Sadly, the Stealth’s outstanding audio performance, solid construction, and a few nifty tricks up its sleeve could not offset some of the more serious issues we had with finicky comfort (it is seemingly better suited to those with smaller heads/features) and what proved to be somewhat unwieldy controls. But if you are one of the lucky few whose anatomy fits well with the Stealth’s design, and you don’t spend a lot of time fiddling w/onboard controls, you will be rewarded with absolutely stellar sound for your troubles.
PROs:
- After trying/keeping/flipping more than two dozen headsets from HyperX, Logitech, Audeze, Astro, Corsair, Razer, Steelseries & others over the past several years, I can honestly say that the Stealth 600s are very competitive, offering an INCREDIBLY lively, engaging, and enveloping soundscape for gaming--but are just as well-suited to music and videos. They may not be as accurate or clinical-sounding as more serious, audiophile-oriented offerings, but they are undeniably FUN to listen to without assaulting the senses with overbearing presence in one area of the spectrum or another.
- You do not need an app to customize the EQ; the Mode button cycles through different EQ settings with corresponding tones (1-4 beeps) indicating Signature Sound, Bass Boost, Bass & Treble Boost, or Vocal Enhancement. Signature Sound was the nicest of the bunch; it's on the warmer side w/enough low-end bloom to add visceral “heft” to bass notes and explosions, while the mids and highs of piano notes, acoustic guitar strings, and female voices are rendered clear, fast, and detailed without becoming fatiguing or screechy. Against the much higher-priced Arctis Pro Wireless, the Stealth offers a fuller/"thicker” sound that simply delivers more oomph & presence across the entire spectrum; they are not as airy or polite as the Arctis, but they are fast and resolving enough to capture any delicate notes or subtle nuances of higher-quality audio recordings/game soundtracks.
- The power button also toggles Turtle Beach’s “Superhuman Hearing” feature. Competitive gamers searching for subtle directional cues will appreciate this mode which enhances & amplifies certain elements of a game’s soundfield (enemy footsteps, distant dialogue, hidden passage/item indicators) making it easier to locate your targets on- or off-screen.
- The flip-down boom mic almost completely integrates into the left earcup while the low-profile buttons and volume dials provide a seamless/uncluttered look.
- Speaking of the mic, my teammates noticed just a HINT of emphasis in the higher frequencies that made my voice slightly easier to hear/understand during a crowded multiplayer session, but vocal quality was free of any overly processed/unnatural tinny sound that can plague lower-quality headset microphones. Just lift the boom up part way and a pair of falling tones indicates that the mic is muted; fully extend the mic again and a pair of rising tones confirms the mic is live. The boom is relatively short, so you won’t accidentally be smashing chips or the edge of a soda can into it while you’re playing, but it does pivot forward towards your mouth slightly to improve capture quality if you want.
- Though not required, the Turtle Beach Audio Hub allows for firmware updates & two helpful volume adjustments; one for sidetone so you can tweak how loud your own voice sounds in your headset, and one for volume of the various status beeps & tones—this makes it easy to set EQ/Superhuman modes without having to don the headset itself.
- Two separate dials offer total customization of chat volume (when used in Xbox mode) and game volume without having to trade-off levels between the two. When used on a computer, the chat dial controls sidetone volume instead.
- Construction is all-plastic but doesn’t feel cheaply so; the heavy-duty headband can take a lot of twist and flex without creaking. Numbers & hash marks are visible through cutout windows in the headband so it is a snap to resize to your original settings after stowing the headset away or loaning it out to others.
- Earpads feel like dense memory foam though surprisingly they did not force the stems of my Gunnar glasses into the sides of my face. The mesh coverings help with heat dissipation during long gaming sessions while the underside of the headband features more pillow-soft padding covered in a butter-smooth pleather material.
- Like many wireless headsets, this one requires a USB dongle for zero-lag 2.4 Ghz connectivity. Turtle Beach gave its wireless transmitter a Swiss-Army knife’s worth of compatibility with a hardware switch that changes from native Xbox mode to USB compatibility for use with a PS4/PS5, PC/Mac, or Switch. There is also a USB-A to USB-C cable included, but it is for charging only.
- Turtle Beach promises more than 48 hours of battery life; I haven’t had a marathon gaming session quite that long, but I used the headset for more than a week straight on a single charge and still didn’t get the low battery indicator on the headset.
CONs:
- Windows 11 reported the sampling rate for the Stealth 600 locked in at 16-bit/48kHz; although this is VERY good audio quality (DVD-level), it falls short of many higher definition bit-depths/sampling rates. If you use services like Tidal or Amazon Music HD, you will be missing out on some higher-resolution sound quality options which somewhat limits the flexibility of this headset as a “perfect” all-arounder
- The Stealth feels sturdy enough to travel, but there is no case or even simple fabric sack included to keep the headset, charging cable, and dongle together. The earcups also do not fold perfectly flat making for oddball storage or packing limitations in a backpack or laptop bag.
- Maybe I’m just getting old and prefer not to keep as much in my head anymore; but spoken status indicators would be a nice flourish rather than having to remember which set of beeps or tone patterns correspond to which mode of operation/setting.
- The dongle's latest redesign takes a small hit in usability. Instead of an easy-to-reach pairing button, you now need to press a small pinhole button to start the re-paring sequence. The process is quick enough—maybe 5-10 seconds—but you’ll need to have a paperclip or SIM card removal tool handy if you ever need to re-pair the headset to the transmitter. I suppose this reduces the chance of accidentally restarting the pairing process, but any design feature that requires me to hunt down a separate tool just to press a button seems like an unnecessary penalty in usability.
- "Superhuman Hearing" is an acquired taste that is probably best for REALLY competitive gamers playing games in very specific genres or needing to emphasize very specific types of environmental sound effects; the accentuation of select elements of the soundfield often rendered music or other effects a distorted or even harsh-sounding. In fairness, similar competitive “hearing enhancements” from other manufacturers do exactly the same thing so this is nothing specific against Turtle Beach’s solution.
- Like last year’s model, the controls on the Stealth are troublesome (at best) to operate blind/by touch alone. The Mode button is precisely the same size and shape as the power button, is raised only slightly, and sits in line right next to the power button--meaning that I was forever fumbling around for the right button to change the sound profile or activate/deactivate Superhuman Hearing and constantly hitting the wrong one. The chat and volume dials are similarly spaced right on top of each other and offer the exact same profile, texture, and shape—futzing for the chat volume and changing the headset volume instead (or vice-versa) was a regular occurrence during play. You’ll get used to things over time I’m sure, but it was definitely frustrating to try making changes in the middle of a game and constantly coming up with the wrong control.
- Again, just like last year’s model, vertical earcup pivot is incredibly limited—maybe only 5-10 degrees (pictured with this review). This, coupled with the aggressive curvature of the stiff headband, meant that inward clamping pressure became painful and fatiguing very fast. In practice, I could only wear the Stealths for about 15 minutes at a time before my ears and the top of my head became noticeably uncomfortable. My wife found them a bit easier to wear; but she noted that the earpads did not feel pillowy soft like the headband does. My 11-year-old daughter, on the other hand, positively adored the headset, thought they were extremely comfortable, and couldn’t wait for me to pass them along to her—so take that as a bit of potential sizing advice if you’re considering these cans for yourself.
- In line with our findings about potential fitment issues, the earpads are also a bit of a mixed bag. Despite being somewhat “ear-shaped” for a supposedly more accommodating fit, the openings are really not large enough for these to be considered over-the-ear headphones (unless you have incredibly small ears—like my daughter). When you add in the more unyielding foam material under their mesh fabric coverings, AND the high inward clamping force mentioned above, those of you with larger or more sensitive ears may experience quite a bit of discomfort due to substantial on-the-ear pressures as well.

I recently picked up the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX Wireless Gaming Headset, and it's been a fantastic addition to my gaming setup. First off, the compatibility is off the charts—it works seamlessly with my Xbox, PS5, and even my Nintendo Switch, which is a huge plus for someone who loves to switch between different platforms.
The wireless feature is a game-changer. I can move around freely without getting tangled in wires, and the connection is super stable—no dropouts or weird interference. The battery life is impressive, too; I've pulled off multiple long gaming sessions without needing to recharge.
Now, let's talk sound quality because Turtle Beach really knocked it out of the park here. The audio is crisp, clear, and immersive. I can hear every footstep, every reload, and it just makes games like Apex Legends and Call of Duty that much more intense and enjoyable. The flip-to-mute mic is a neat feature, and my friends have said that my voice comes through loud and clear.

Nice for xBox players but otherwise limited

This is a review of the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Headset. If you are an xBox gamer, these are what you are looking for. They fit securely around your ears blocking out exterior noise. The sound is robust and there are controls for volume, mic loudness, preset audio responses, and power. The preset audio response settings are like preset equalizer settings. There are 4 modes and you cycle through them by pressing a single button. They are very adjustable with the ability to change the length of the band on top and the earcups both swivel so you can get a comfortable fit. The microphone is part of the left earcup and is adjustable. Pushing the microphone up to the ear cup mutes the mic and pulling it down turns on the mic. Battery life is very good and charges with a standard USB-C cable.
Overall, they have very nice sound. The audio presets allow you to help isolate voices from other sounds. One me they are a little tight but I assume will loosen up with time. The one issue with the headphones is that while they are Bluetooth, you must use a special xBox Bluetooth adapter (included) in order to use the headset. There are PCs that have built-in Xbox Wireless functionality, but the number is very limited and you will most likely need to the use included USSB port adapter in order to use the headset.
If you are looking for an xBox headset, these are very nice. If you are going to use them on anything else, make sure you have an available USB-A port for the adapter or you won’t be able to use them.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX Wireless Multiplatform Gaming Headset is a versatile and impressive headset that delivers a fantastic audio experience across multiple gaming platforms. Designed for use with Xbox, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, this headset offers convenience and compatibility for a wide range of gamers.
First and foremost, let's talk about the sound quality. The Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX headset features powerful 50mm speakers that deliver rich and immersive audio. Whether you're playing an action-packed shooter, exploring a virtual world, or listening to music, the headset provides clear and detailed sound. The audio is well-balanced, with deep bass, crisp highs, and clear mid-tones, ensuring that you can hear every detail in your games.
One of the standout features of this headset is its wireless connectivity. With its Xbox Wireless technology, you can connect the headset wirelessly to your Xbox console with ease. Additionally, the headset can be easily connected to other platforms using the USB transmitter or Bluetooth capabilities. The wireless connectivity is reliable and provides a stable connection, allowing you to enjoy uninterrupted gaming and chat.
Comfort is a crucial factor when it comes to gaming headsets, and the Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX doesn't disappoint. The headset features a lightweight design with soft and breathable ear cushions that provide long-lasting comfort. The adjustable headband ensures a secure and personalized fit, and the ear cups can be rotated to fit comfortably around your ears. Whether you're gaming for a short session or an extended marathon, this headset will keep you comfortable throughout.
Battery life is another impressive aspect of this headset. With its 48-hour battery life, you won't have to worry about running out of power in the middle of your gaming sessions. The headset also has a quick charge feature that allows you to get up to 3 hours of use with just a 15-minute charge, ensuring that you can get back to gaming quickly.
The Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX headset also features a flip-to-mute microphone, which is convenient for in-game chat or communicating with teammates. The microphone provides clear and crisp voice transmission, and the flip-to-mute feature adds an extra layer of control during your gaming sessions.
In terms of design, the Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX boasts a sleek and modern look with a black finish. The controls are intuitive and easily accessible, allowing you to adjust volume, chat mix, and other settings on the fly.
One small drawback of the headset is the lack of active noise cancellation. While the headset provides decent noise isolation, it doesn't completely block out external sounds. However, this should not significantly impact your overall gaming experience.
Overall, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX Wireless Multiplatform Gaming Headset is a fantastic choice for gamers who want a versatile and high-quality headset. With its impressive sound quality, wireless connectivity, comfort, and long battery life, it ticks all the boxes for a great gaming experience. Whether you're gaming on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or PC, this headset delivers exceptional audio and ensures that you can communicate clearly with your team.

The sound quality was pretty good, it felt comfortable to wear for more than 5 hours of use thanks to the long battery life and the latency was really spot on. I've had these headphones since March 2024 and they finally started to wear off a year later, which i believe is a good lifespan. The way they wore off was the plastic started to crack on the sides where you extend the headphones. But that started happening a year later, they fully snapped off a couple days ago as of now. Overall, these headphones are good quality, but i wish they had lasted me longer.

Designed to accommodate eye glasses and works with several popular game systems and PC. I very much like the fact there is no required software for the headset, the only app to download handles firmware updates only and a couple of adjustments that most people rarely if ever mess with on a headset. You will need to update the firmware right out of the box but it's easy just plug in the charge cable to the pc, the dongle to the pc and start the software only takes a few minutes. Only us old farts remember the Turtle Beach glory days. They were often mentioned in the same sentence with products like soundblaster and their sound cards were darn good for their day..in short they know what they're doing with sound. I like that this headset has separate sound adjustments for the game and chat functions. I can't stand some of my older headsets because game sounds often end up drowning out the chat to the point that I can't hear..don't have that problem here. I have windows 11 which "has" been plagued with issues with surround sound and I have a headset or two that is currently not working right due to that problem but so far the Turtle Beach has not displayed that issue that I can detect. At first it will be a bit tight but it loosens up quickly and for us folks that wear glasses you'll appreciate that it doesn't mess with your glasses like some headsets can. The weight is not bad and the flip up to mute mike is much better than having to find the button. They claim 48 hour battery life, I plugged mine in after I took it from the box it only charged for an hour or two and the light went out, box claims 8 hours of battery for a paltry 15 minutes plugged into a charger. These use the wondrous new usb c connector. No more trying to figure out which way the plug goes in the socket in dim light since C is not keyed at all (love it).

48 Hours Of Awesome Wireless Gaming Audio

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 GEN2 MAX is a great upgrade to an already particularly excellent product for its very reasonable price. It is light, very pliable and weighs in under a pound. There are several ways to adjust the headset and it is quite comfortable for me even with glasses. The ear cushions are soft and seem to be made of a breathable type of material. The discomfort that I sometimes experience when wearing headphones for a period of time was absent with the use of these as there were no major pressure points with the use of these on my ears or head.
One of the significant upgrades to this model is the massive battery life of 48+ hours. To fully charge the battery it took about 3 hours and 50 minutes. The headset can also be charged while in use if you own a longer Type “C” USB cable than is supplied in the box. Another great upgrade over previous models is that this headphone is compatible with several devices by use of a dongle that is supplied in the box and that is designed to be set to Xbox or USB. With the USB setting, the headphones are compatible with PCs, PS5, Ps4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. When the dongle is set to the Xbox setting it is compatible with the Xbox series XIS and Xbox One.
The headphones are wireless, and I found them to have no lag as advertised. The literature says that they are lag-free and designed with Turtle Beach’s “proprietary low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless connection which optimizes gaming audio & chat in real-time for a lag-free gameplay advantage”. I found the audio to be exceptionally good and to be clear and lag free. There are two volume controls that seemed a little dull to the touch and not as responsive as some, but independently they control the chat and game volumes as they are designed to do. They just feel a little rubbery rather than solid which I would have equated to have been more exact.
One of my favorite features is the drop-down mic. Moving the mic arm up mutes the mic and even moving it halfway up mutes the mic. I like how it can also be adjusted toward the mouth or away from the face and still be highly effective. But the most impressive features for me are the instant pairing, preset sounds, and exclusive Superhuman Hearing. The instant pairing is a hassle-free way to get up and running and by downloading Turtle Beach’s Audio Hub you can instantly upgrade firmware and software as needed. The presets of the Signature Sound, Bass Boost, Bass Treble Boost and Vocal Boost can be toggled through by using the Mode button. These are all surprisingly good audio. The Superhuman hearing mode is a little different and takes a little getting used to, but it does allow one to pinpoint quiet audio cues like imaginary sounds that could be real enemy footsteps or reloading weapons. This feature can be activated or deactivated as desired by the gamer.
Overall, I found this to be an incredibly good gaming headphone. Being all plastic makes it exceptionally light but might also present problems if it is bent or stretched too often. The price is great for all of the amenities, and I would definitely recommend its purchase especially since the audio is great and it can be used with so many different platforms just by having the dongle.

This headset is a fantastic choice for gamers who value performance and convenience. The 48-hour battery life is exceptional, allowing me to game for weeks without worrying about charging. The multiplatform compatibility is another standout, working seamlessly across Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Audio quality is top-notch, with 50mm speakers delivering immersive sound. The flip-to-mute mic ensures clear communication and is easy to use. The headset is comfortable for extended sessions thanks to its glasses-friendly ear cushions and adjustable headband.
Pros:
• Long-lasting battery
• Comfortable design for glasses wearers
• Crystal-clear audio and mic quality
• Easy-to-use controls
Cons:
• Limited wireless range (30 feet)
• No carrying case included

Purchased for use with an XBOX Series X and a PC. While I have not yet used it with my Xbox, if the PC performance is to go by, then I will have no issue.
Sound quality is great and while I may eventually pair it with a dedicated microphone, the built in microphone does enough to make communication seamless.
It is as advertised for glasses wearers like myself. Good cushion on the foam so it’s not uncomfortable.
4/5 stars because it’s not perfect but you’re getting a great product for the price, especially if you get it on sale.

Great sounding headphones. I use for my gaming desktop, and I honestly like these better than the model I use for my Xbox (the Xbox ones are the Turtle Beach Stealth edition that was released a year before these). Audio is sharp, clear, battery lasts a long time, and they are comfortable for hours on end.

First off, great noise cancellation. I can’t hear much background noise while I’m using it. Second, it’s a great fir for my head. I have a smaller head than most other people and it fits really comfortably and snug. Also feels great while wearing glasses. Lastly, it connects really easily between my pc and Xbox. I switch the connection between both and and it connects instantly without issues.

I don’t game online these days so I can’t comment on the quality of the mic as it sounds to others. But this is my first gaming headset in probably decades and I’m very impressed.
Compatibility for the Switch, Series X, One (X), PS4, PS5 was a must for me. I haven’t found another headset on the market they can cover all the contemporary consoles so I’m thankful Turtle Beach came through with this.
The battery life is exceptional- I’ve only charged it maybe once or twice since getting it 4 months ago! The range of sounds produced beats the heck out of the stock speakers on my tv.
I can’t comment how it measures up to the fidelity of even priced headsets, but I don’t have a nagging feeling I’m missing out. I’m completely satisfied with the purchase and I’m looking forward to keeping this headset in use as long as possible. Great value.
I only game with this headset now unless I’m doing local multiplayer. Definitely worth considering in your journey to find a decent headset that works with multiple contemporary consoles.

Solid headset! No interference, various different modes for sound depending on preferences. Battery life is outstanding it goes for a whole day (for me its like 10 plus hours) without needing a charge.
Gives you dolby atmos for xbox and 3D audio for Playstation. I have to say these have been better than the official PS or Xbox headset although i do miss having the ability to hear two audio sources at once with the xbox headset but the way better battery life made up for it imo
Important to point out it doesnt have Bluetooth and you need the dongle connected to device you want to head sound from thats the only reason i gave it 4 stars.

Great headphones, the only downside was not being able to connect via Bluetooth to my cellphone. I recently upgraded to the Turtle Beach Steath 700 which is a huge step up, I would suggest saving alittle extra and getting these.
