Never pairs the first time. Crackles constantly. Fits so tight on my head that my sinuses get blocked and I can’t breathe through my nose. Wanted to give them a chance and missed the deadline to return them. Highly regret buying this.

I used to have some Turtle Beach headphones back in my PS3 days and I really like them. I've been using a couple of other brands since then, but I was excited to try these latest ones from Turtle Beach since I knew they're a good brand. I wasn't disappointed--these are fantastic headphones with all the features that I'd been missing. When I pulled them out of the box, I was a little concerned that they'd be heavy and uncomfortable. I went straight into a 6 hour gaming session, though, and never had another concern. They were perfectly comfortable the whole time. Setup couldn't have been any easier. The USB transmitter has a single switch for XBOX or USB, USB being everything non-Xbox like PCs and Playstations. I switched it to USB, plugged it into the front of my PS4, powered on my headphones and they connected as easy as that. I tested the mic and sound levels, but didn't even have to adjust anything and it was ready to go. On my previous headphones, the thing I missed the most was the ability to adjust the main sound and chat volume separately. I was so happy to get this back on these headphones. The volume knobs are on the back of the left ear cup, so once I figured out where they were I could quickly and easily adjust them while playing. On the topic of sound, the quality is fantastic. Any outside noise is almost totally sealed out and I could hear even the smallest game sounds perfectly. A new feature (to me, anyway) that I absolutely love is the ability to mute the mic by flipping it up. If you flip it up about half way or more, you hear a tone so you know it activated. You can also see the light on the USB transmitter change to a slow pulsing red. I did sometimes forget that I was muted, so seeing the red light was a good reminder. This feature is SO much better than fumbling for a mute switch somewhere. This may not be something most people do, but sometimes I like to move one headphone off my ear so I can either talk to someone or listen for things going on outside the game. Even with these somewhat larger headphones, this still worked comfortably for me. I've had other headsets that just weren't designed for this and weren't comfortable to wear like that. Anyway, these headphones were just fine for the few minutes each time I wore them like that. Finally, the battery life appears to be more than enough for my game nights plus many more hours. When I'm done, I just connect them to a USB-C charging cable and they're ready to go next time. The one thing I wish these came with was some sort of case or bag to keep them in. Right now, I put them back in the box they came in to protect them from dust, curious cats, etc. but it'd be nice if there was a better case. That's a minor detail and I'm sure I'll find something better to keep them in eventually.

Turtle beach is at it again, this time with a MAX version of their popular Stealth 700 series headset. This headset is a little different from the other 700 series options, so let’s dive in and see what has changed and more importantly, how it performs. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX comes in two colors - a typical black with silver accents, and exclusive to this model, a deep blue and copper option. I have the blue and copper, and it looks classy and different from a typical gaming headset. Overall, the style of the headsets is understated and don’t scream gamer, which is fine by me. I like the trend away from some of the overmolded RGB everything madness that some gaming accessories were doing, this one is very classy looking with clean lines. It also features a flip up to mute or down to talk mic, which keeps it clean when you are just playing a single player game or listening to music. The headset supports Bluetooth, and with your phone you can get granular control of the settings for the headset, change what the buttons and one of the dials do, etc. It can also take calls or you can use a chat app on your phone while in a game for those who prefer third party chat apps. One interesting note - this headset has no analog input. The only port is the USB-C for charging or firmware updates on a PC, so you can’t use it with a device that needs an analog port. This could be a drawback for on the go switch players, as you’ll need to pair the headset using Bluetooth, which can be a little laggy for audio, instead of being able to use a hard wire. For other features, the headset supports mic monitoring so it doesn’t sound like you are shouting into a tunnel, and you can customize sound options with the app when paired to your phone. It has a huge battery life - Turtle beach claims 40+ hours between charges. This headset will ONLY pair to Bluetooth and its USB dongle. It does not have direct connectivity to an Xbox like previous 700 series headsets did, you need to switch the dongle to Xbox mode and plug it into a USB port on your Xbox. In this mode, it worked perfectly with my Series X, and in standard USB mode it works well on PC, Switch, or Playstation. While some may see that as a drawback, I actually prefer the dongle instead of dealing with pairing to an Xbox wirelessly - that caused some issues with previous generation headsets as Microsoft would update something, or Turtle Beach might, and it would cause some incompatibly problems. With the dongle it just pairs up and goes. It also will glow red when you are on mute or green when off mute, so you can easily tell what mode you are in when gaming. To update the headset, you plug it into your PC via USB along with the dongle and use the Turtle Beach app to update both parts. As of this review, there wasn’t an update available, but check when you get the headset to see if there are updates that may fix bugs. For performance, the headset did very well. The earcups are incredibly comfortable, along with the padding on the headband. I will say there is some pretty decent clamp force on this headset, which is somewhat typical of wireless sets as they weigh more with the batteries and electronics. I didn’t find it uncomfortable though as the earcups are deep enough to keep the pressure on your head from being too much. Audio is clear with decent but not overblown bass, and spatial audio modes work well. Wireless audio was crackle free with no noticeable latency. The mic is omnidirectional and can pick up some background noise. With the flip to mute it’s easy enough to mute, but some headsets do have better mics. The headset also doesn’t have active noise cancellation, which isn’t something I really need when gaming, but if that is an important feature for you it’s worth noting. Overall, this is a feature packed heasdset with good audio, incredible battery life, clean style at a price point that isn’t crazy. The multiplatform compatibility in a single package is great. I would recommend it for someone who is looking for a huge amount of battery life and compatibility with multiple gaming systems.

We appreciate your feedback! Please be aware that we hear very few complaints about sizing or comfort issues when it comes to our headsets. However, due to the wide variations in head sizes and shapes, it's not possible to design a one-size-fits-all headset that will fit absolutely 100% of all users.

With that being said, we consistently provide a comfortable fit for the overwhelming majority of our customers. Please bear in mind that your headset will break in over time, which should result in a better fit after you've used it for a while. TurtleBeach

When I was younger Turtle Beach headphones were what I always gravitated to, but in recent years I had moved more towards Rig and then Astro`s A50 headphones to which after using this pair of headphones from Turtle Beach I do believe they may have taken the crown back as the best headphones on the market. Firstly, out of the box the build quality was great as I could appreciate the all black aesthetic as they looked much more refined than the typical bold Turtle Beach colors. Initially I was disappointed with the all plastic look, but the headphones have some heft to them with the 50mm drivers so the plastic allowed them to not weigh down my head while gaming so I can appreciate the function aspect that comes with the plastic build material. Also the metal within the headband was nice since this is one of the parts of the headset that always seems to give and break first. Next getting them paired with my Xbox was amazing as the simple USB dongle is great and provides a truly wireless experience without having to worry about a connected base. Then pairing them with my phone and PC via Bluetooth was just as easy along with the USB pairing for my PC as well. Upon putting the headset on it was a little tight initially compared to other headsets, but it is something I got used to rather quickly. Some headsets go overboard with the comfort and result in my ears getting too warm, but I did not have that issue with these as I assume the cooling-gel within the earcups assisted with this. One interesting feature was also the ability to modify the earcups if you have glasses as I am sure many can appreciate this small detail. Over multiple hours long gaming sessions these headphones remained comfortable the entire time so there were definitely no issues when it came to overall comfort. Then the most important aspect of these headphones is the actual performance. I was anticipating a lesser experience than my A50s as they are $100 cheaper, but I was definitely surprised after using these for a couple weeks and going back and forth as the Turtle Beach headsets definitely punch above their weight in this department! I did not have any issues with lag and once I got my settings all configured I have had no issues since. The app is a nice added feature when it comes to customizing your experience, but the preset is more than acceptable in my opinion. The Superhuman Hearing is an interesting sound setting as everything appears to be boosted and I was unsure if there was much to it, but upon listening to music soundtracks I was able to distinguish where Turtle Beach was making adjustments and then going back and playing more FPS games I was able to begin to notice the difference and how beneficial it actually was. The mic quality was right on par with what you would expect as everyone I played with said I came across crystal clear and the ability for the mic to fold right in flush with the headset is a nice feature along with the noise when muted and unmuted. The one aspect I did especially like was the ease of use and the number of buttons/dials on the headset as many times manufacturers just go completely too far with clickable panels, knobs, dials, and buttons whereas Turtle Beach has made it so simple with just a game/chat knob, volume knob, mode button, power button, and Bluetooth button to which the game/chat and mode button can be customized in the app though I kept mine as is with the mode button toggling the Superhuman Hearing mode. Also the feature of slightly raising the mode and Bluetooth buttons is a nice added feature in order to find the buttons quickly and distinguish between the power button. Then in regard to battery life let me tell you that the 40 hours nearly holds true and that it is definitely a long time that goes appreciated without have to charge every couple play sessions and even then the fast charging of 8 hours of gameplay in 15 minutes of charging is a great feature for when my headset did die on me in one of my play sessions. Overall, there really is nothing to poke holes in with this headset as the ease of setup, comfort, and overall performance with the number of additional feature are all exceptional. At this price point on top of it I really think you can`t go wrong purchasing this headset regardless of what system(s) you are gaming on.
