Really good headset just not enough to a point I would upgrade it from the gen one, the only real problem is that the mic it self is really sensitive in the way it pics up a lot of noise.

I was interested in the generation 1 model for a long time but the inconsistent reviews kept me from buying them. The quality control was apparently very hit or miss, with the same consistent issues being experienced among many people. These are supposed to be new and improved across the board so how did these perform? At first, not good at all. But an update came right before submitting this review and now things are much more improved leaving me to rewrite half my review. Let's start with the better points first. SOUND The sound quality is great. You have either regular mode or "Superhuman Hearing" mode which can be changed with a push of a button along with an audio tone telling you which is which although it will be obvious as the latter is much louder. I like to use the regular mode for my single player games and the Superhuman Hearing mode for multiplayer games like FPS. Being able to quickly switch between the two is nice. The headset also has voice announcements telling you things like when it's paired or bluetooth is on/off and you can hear it clearly without even needing to put it on. Using the app you can customize numerous settings like mic monitoring, audio presets (including a custom mode), individual volume and more, creating a fully personal experience. Everyone on chat sounded crystal clear and they said I sounded great as well. There are even a couple of features on the app like Chat Boost and Noise Gate to aid things further if needed. STYLE/COMFORT The headset does look really nice. It's snug but also soft due to the pillowy memory foam cushions. It will be very comfortable to most people but for me because I have a lower profile head, it doesn't quite fit and it sits a bit low so it squeezes the sides of my head below my ears a bit. But because it's as soft and comfortable as it is it isn't too bad and I get used to it after some time. Eventually I'll have to do something to help make it sit higher. The microphone is non-intrusive and flips down and up (which also mutes it) with ease. When folded up it even conceals itself within the cup which is really cool. FEATURES In my opinion which is the most important, the 20 hour charge claim is accurate so that's great. However I found the bluetooth to be a problematic feature. Once you pair these to your profile and xbox the headset allows you to turn your xbox on by using the power button on the headset itself. I thought once it also turned it off but I can't replicate that so either it's my mistake or maybe I'm doing something different. At first it seems like a nice feature however it conflicts with the bluetooth feature. Because of this you can only ever use the bluetooth features for incoming calls or the use of other devices while playing. Unless you're not near your xbox, you can't just use the bluetooth separately without turning on the headset itself otherwise your xbox will turn on and it will repeatedly be yelling in your ear that it's trying to pair with it because you're out of range. This essentially makes the bluetooth useless if you ever want to use it for other things other than playing like calls or music in your own home. I don't think you can turn the auto-on feature off either but even if you can somewhere that I didn't see, you'd have to choose one feature or the other - but not both. Allowing the bluetooth button to turn on only that part of the headset would have fixed this. Even when you try to update the firmware with your computer it will turn your xbox on so make sure you only do it right before you play. Of course the main focus was probably to connect with the Turtle Beach Audio Hub app for the extra sound features. According to the app reviews in the Google Play store, it was broken for at least a month with a huge amount of people, myself included, getting the error that no headset was found. Turtle Beach was lucky, I checked one last time to see if the app was fixed before I was about to post this review and sure enough they updated it and now both the headset (see below) and the app works. The app is pretty imperative so I hope I can rely on it in the future. You can only access many of the features through it including the ability to re-map the buttons which is really nice but without a working app half this headset will be unusable. PROBLEMS Before the update the audio would cut out constantly as if it couldn't handle the sounds of the game. Additionally, there was also static (or maybe I'd call them popping noises?) at times as well. FAQ tells you things like not to have routers, external hard drives or other devices anywhere near by but you shouldn't have to rearrange your entire house for this headset when all other devices can handle each other just fine. A lot of us have our consoles hardwired so of course it's within 10 feet of a router. The range is also pretty weak and if you step too far away for too long instead of it just reconnecting, you'll have to jump through hoops to reconnect. It's working near perfect as of right now so it seems the app sent a small update to the headset itself even though no formal firmware was released. But now I'm left wondering if the problem will ever return. I am still occasionally getting quick breaks or snaps of static but it's few and far in between and not even that noticeable. Some things besides the app being unreliable remain a potential problem, though. With my second use my headset refused to turn on at all. I thought it was completely dead even though I started use the day before with a full charge. After 5 minutes it finally decided to work. I also was told I had an invalid serial number when registering my product. The problems just felt endless. PROS - battery life - mappable buttons - fitted/hidden flip mic - voice announcements - bluetooth (when applicable) CONS - prone to interference, potential intermittent sound - various problems (unreliable app, broken registration, not powering on) - conflicting features (bluetooth) I was a long time fan. I really liked my X12 and have loved my Stealth X04 since after that. I considered upgrading to full wireless but I skipped Gen 1 because of the reviews. I had high hopes these would have completely fixed the previous issues others often had but I'm left skeptical. Because of the original Stealth 600/700 Gen 1 issues and the issues I was having with this, not only has my trust in the brand been damaged, I may no longer be a return customer. I can understand why their reputation is continuing to go downhill. As for the Gen 2 Stealth 700, between the app and lack of quality assurance, Turtle Beach was not prepared for this release. There is a lot of potential here and hopefully it will continue to be improved to where I can finally trust the product. This would have been a 2 STAR review if it wasn't for the fact they updated the app right before posting. But I still can't give beyond 3 STARS nor recommend it as of right now because of everything else. It has the potential to be 4-5 STARS in time.

This headset sounds amazing and is extremely comfortable and even looks "professional", but all that is worthless if you plan on using it for PC. On PC it constantly switches "Default Device" in xbox parties and discord. Just wait till they make a PC version or stick with the Elite Pro 2 if possible. Which is just as great but without the connectivity issues. I imagine this headset would get 5 stars from me if I still played on Xbox.

Just like many of the other reviewers, I had issues with this within the first 5 minutes of it being connected to my system. At first, the volume would cutout and randomly screech. I thought maybe there was a syncing issue, so I turned them off and tried to resync the headset to my series x. It worked again for about 30 seconds before audio started cutting out. I turned them off again and tried turning them back on. Right as soon as it says the battery is fullly charged and the headset is connected, the headset shuts itself off. I've tried charging thinking they were glitching out, but no use. As someone who's always used Sennheiser for their PC setup, I am used to a degree of comfort and reliability. I was hesitant to get these but everyone talked about how premium feel they are, how good they sound, and how they're supposedly a great value. They do feel premium, I'll give them that. Too bad it seems R&D spent more time on how they feel and not on reliability.

      Hey Michael,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience; however, please try out the following with your Stealth 700 GEN 2:

Press and hold down the Bluetooth Pairing Button + Mode Button on your headset for 20 seconds. This is a very long press, please make sure that you do not release it early, holding it down too long is better than too short.

This should hard reset the headset and may clear up what you are experiencing.

If you continue to have the same experience; please know that we’re always happy to help, and we can be reached right from the support section of the Turtle Beach website as needed.

      Thanks! TurtleBeach
