This is NOT the better option for a PS5 controller

Turtle Beach has dropped the ball when it comes to the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller for the PS5. While I can appreciate certain features, it ultimately let me down during my time spent testing it. Right out of the box, there is no denying that this controller is built well, and offers quite a few innovative features for specialized types of gameplay. The modular design, and the inclusion of swappable controller pieces, ensures that if you need a controller well suited for FPS or fighting games, you are definitely covered. During my testing, I found most aspects of the controller to be well made and functional. The thumb sticks, d-pad, and face buttons were all satisfactory, yet not exactly leaps and bounds over the stock PS5 controller. This isn’t to say that they are bad, just that I’m unsure if the premium price of the Victrix is actually justified considering the quality (when compared to stock). Additionally, the controller itself feels good, with nice grip sections, good ergonomics, and a decent weight. I also appreciate that you can use this controller either wired, or wireless, via the included Bluetooth module that plugs into one of your PS5’s usb slots. I played primarily on Bluetooth; setup was a simple plug and play, and I never had any issues with the connection dropping out or lagging. All of this is fine, except there are some noticeable problems with this controller, that only seem even worse when you factor in the ultra-premium price tag. First, the programmable buttons on the back of the controller. I have relatively large hands, and it felt like I would accidentally press one of these buttons AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT while playing a game. Just due to how you naturally hold and grip a controller, you are pretty much guaranteed to have your fingers resting against, and possibly engaging, these programmable triggers. This was so annoying, and such an immediate problem, that I quickly disabled the buttons as soon as I could. I also question how useful these would be in chaotic, frenetic gameplay sessions; pressing the wrong button at the wrong time is pretty antithetical to how most competitive gamers play. Because of this, these triggers really miss the mark, and I just don’t see a situation where they would be beneficial rather than a nuisance. Second, I absolutely do not believe that the L2 and R2 triggers on this controller are an improvement over the stock unit. When I first tried to use this controller, R2 would simply not work. At all. While I tried to find an instruction manual (these only come with "instructions" that consist of 2 hieroglyphs and basically no text), I even scanned the QR code in the booklet, only to be taken to the website's product page. Well, I was hoping it would take me to a manual, but I couldn't locate one on the website, either. So, I went back to the controller, and noticed these "switches" (?) on the back of the controller. I messed with them, and they seemed to unlock the R2 trigger. Honestly, even when it was working, it does not feel good at all, and I seriously doubt they managed to incorporate the active trigger effects from the Sony controller. Apparently the marketing claims these triggers have some proprietary tech, but when they work this poorly, I just don't buy it. So, yeah, not a great impression on part of a controller that is central to being to play almost any game, ESPECIALLY first person shooters. Third, this controller is missing some very basic features that the OEM unit from Sony has always been equipped with. Built in microphone? Not here. Built in speaker? Not here. Vibration? Sadly, not even THIS is here. (Haven't we had controllers with vibration since the late 90s?) At first, I was trying to justify the reasoning behind this model packing less features than the stock PS5 controller. And then I really thought about it. How does this make sense? This controller is priced at an eye-watering premium, a price so high it should make the stock controller look like a cheap toy. Instead, it packs LESS features, and introduces buttons/switches that at best are an annoyance, and at worst, a hindrance to your performance. Now I know some folks might really need the modular pieces this controller provides, and to those people, I’d say this is probably a great option for you. I think it’s pretty neat that this offers a dedicated option for fighting game aficionados, and I’m not really sure there is another controller on the market with these modular features. But to everyone else who is just looking for a great controller for their PS5, this isn’t it. When you exclude the modular pieces, and the inclusion of “higher quality” thumb sticks, there is absolutely nothing this controller does better than stock, and it costs a considerable amount more for the experience. I really don’t care what Turtle Beach’s rationale is: if it costs over twice as much than the go-to option, this should have an ABUNDANCE of features not found on the competition AND stock functionality, NOT a severe deficit of basic controller features that we’ve had for years. If you are absolutely determined to buy this controller, just be aware of what you are getting. If you don’t need highly specialized thumb sticks or fighting game set ups, I can say with almost complete certainty that the regular controller that comes with your PS5 is the superior option for your gaming needs. Final Score: 2 stars – 1 for overall build quality, and 1 for the niche, specialized features.

I'll be honest, my usual secondary controllers for guests use tended to be...of lesser quality that the original. This is not that. The Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded boasts features that the original Dualsense does not have. Out of the box, I was a bit surprised by how light it was.In the hand, it also feels more like an Xbox controller. I play the intermittent Xbox, but as a lifetime Playstation user it did feel a bit foreign. That being said, it feels great in the hand. You can use this wirelessly with use of the dongle (which is not Bluetooth but through a 2.4 GHz connection with low latency) or wired which I appreciate they offer both options. It does lack the haptics and adaptive triggers of the original for whatever reason. Sometimes, the lack of small features such as this was noticeable especially playing familiar games. This likely is a licensing issue with Sony. The modular aspect was very interesting to me. You can flip the modules to resemble the Xbox controller. You can add the 6 button module which is actually amazing for fighter games. Changing out the modules are simple. There are a couple screws involved but this really shouldn't deter anyone. One of the big draws of this controller is the Hall Effect. This means that they use magnets instead of mechanical parts. This theoretically prevents stick drift and increased durability and longevity. To me, that is actually a very valuable part of this controller. I have definitely spent more than the price of this controller for multiple replacements of my Dualsense for previous generations. I can't believe controllers have gotten this expensive. Even the base DualSense costs a pretty penny. That being said, the Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is not targeting the casual user and more towards professionals and those who would buy the DualSense Edge.

Ive never much been into 3rd party controllers in the past. I played a lot in the era of a sea of junk when it came to 3rd party controllers. I understood the appeal of getting one at half the price. But they always felt, looked, and controlled half as good. So upon the inevitable break Id just spring the extra cash for an OEM. So with that all in mind despite the price I was expecting the controller to just not “feel” right. Well that was immediately put to rest once I got this in my hand. It feels so good and premium in the hand. It has the perfect weight and balance, no rough edges, and the grips feel like they could handle long sessions with no problems. Like my title this is my first modular controller so Im new to it. But was pleasantly surprised. So being able to tweak the parts, but also the buttons and settings makes for getting closer to the perfect controller even closer. One thing I was concerned about was whether or not the PS5s great haptics would work on the triggers, etc. And unfortunately it does not support that. I suppose it would have to even more expensive for that, but a lot of games arent the same without it. Specifically Astro Bot. But when it comes to shooters its not that bad to not have the kickback of the triggers you get. The battery life is claimed to be at 20 hours and I can say it gets close. Ive never ran out since I just charge at the end of the day. One thing I love is that these have hall effect thumbsticks which will stop the dreaded drift. I myself have not had an issue with drift on my others, but its nice to know that wont happen here. Overall I like this controller for some games and not so much for others. Shooters and fighting games will be great. But for games that rely heavily on the PS5 specific haptics as a feature might not.

There used to be a time when third party controllers were seen as cheap and looks very tacky. But these controllers are now in a much better spot. This Vitrix controller is amazing. It’s not better than the official PS5 controller, but it’s close. The modular system is very nice and customizable. I find that to be very nice since some friends of mine have an Xbox and prefer that setup so this controller gives them that freedom when they’re using it with my console system. The different styles that you can create with it is endless depending on your gaming preferences. The general design of it looks great and pretty much like OE. The general feel is good but not amazing since it does feel a little bit cheaper than the official controller which is a bit disappointing because these have a bit of a higher price than the original. It comes with a bag that is perfect for carrying it around to places and when not in use. The connectivity is good and I have not noticed any lag input or dropouts from the controller at all.

I hadn’t been this obsessed with a Playstation controller for a very long time. The Turtle Beach Victrix PRO BFG is fun. If you’re wondering whether it’ll work on your setup, good news: it’s fully compatible with PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC although you have to switch a button to select the right device which is a bit annoying for me. What really sets this controller apart is the 11 interchangeable parts plus other accessories. Whether you want to swap out thumbsticks like you’re accessorizing for a night out, change up your D-pad, or get serious with a six-button fightpad accessory, this controller says, “go ahead, customize me!”. I’m not sure I’ll use that much customization in a real setting, but it’s an option that you will want to play with, at least in the beginning. That’s exactly what I’ve done. Let’s talk features: adjustable triggers, four mappable rear buttons, so even your pinkies get in on the action. The battery life clocks in at hefty 20 hours, which is about as long as my last attempt at a Dark Souls marathon. Plus, you get a super tough braided USB-C cable and a protective case loaded with all the tools and modules you’ll ever need. The build quality is top-notch. It genuinely feels solid, premium, and like it means business. One quirk worth mentioning is that it uses a dedicated dongle for wireless connections, not Bluetooth. So, as long as you’re cool with a little extra USB real estate, you’ll be gaming in style without missing a beat. I tried it with both my PC and PS5 and was very satisfied with the result. Yes, I’d prefer Bluetooth but the dongle is more versatile as you can use it with computers that might not have built-in Bluetooth. In short, this controller is a modular marvel that’s almost as fun to tinker with as it is to play games and that’s the reason for my obsession. The fightpad for me was just an interesting accessory and I don’t see me using it that much, but I had to try it and I can see its usefulness for a lot of gamers out there. I would recommend it not only for the reasons I mentioned earlier, but also because it is very responsive, even when using it wirelessly.

I got the Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Wireless Controller for my 26-year-old son, who’s an avid gamer, and he’s been super impressed with it. The build quality is top-notch — it feels sturdy and well made, not cheap or flimsy like some other controllers he’s tried. He really likes the modular design that lets him swap out the thumbsticks and D-pad layouts depending on the game, and the triggers feel smooth and precise. The wireless connection has been solid with no lag, and it works great on both his PS5 and gaming PC. The battery life also lasts surprisingly long, even with extended play sessions. He mentioned that the textured grips make it comfortable to hold during longer gaming marathons. Overall, this controller feels like a premium piece of gear and has definitely become his go-to for competitive and casual gaming alike. Highly recommend it for anyone who wants performance and customization in one package! Easy to switch from outdated controller to this updated one!!

Overall (4 stars)- I found the Victrix Pro to be a high-quality quality customizable controller that does a very good job of a number of the things you buy an upgraded control for. Many are better than the Sony version; however, there are a few things that you may want to consider. Packaging – this was on par with what you would expect for this level of product – one nice feature was that everything was marked in the packaging, making it easy to find Setup - really easy, basically plug and play right out of the box. There are a lot of configuration options (both hardware and software), and they are fairly easy to navigate if you're not a beginner – I would assume, since we spent these $$ on the controller, you are not. Including the small screwdriver in the package was a big plus in not having to search for the hardware changes Touch and feel – the controller really excels here, with one major exception for the most part the buttons and grip feel and usage during game play are top notch – the one noted exception in compared to the PS version is the length of the tail on the control The PS version has much longer tails and I found that to be more comfortable in the long run (this is the primary reason I deducted one star) Functionality – really didn’t see any major in my game plan. It does all of the things I typically use without any lag or major delay. Of course, the PS proprietary functions do not work, so if that’s a showstopper, you should look elsewhere. Bottomline – this is a great controller with a lot of extras, but I couple of things to note before you buy.

This is one huge multipurpose configurable controller. Feels good to hold, easy to change out components, very quick to get setup to your liking for sure. Looks nice, quick response time, wireless or wired. Modular design for custom configurations. Remap buttons, configure trigger stops, its seriously hardware for someone that likes to configure every last aspect of their controller. pros: wireless / wired (Includes (3m / 9.84 ft usb c cable)) PS4/PS5/PC Compatible 3 Different Joysticks 2 different Joystick gates 6-Button Fightpad interchangable module Reversible D-Pad / Left Analog stick module Sony 3D Audio (on PS5) [variation of EQ profiles] Carrying case & module swap tool included Customizable mapped buttons cons: nothing shy of personal gripes, i felt the triggers stuck out a little further than i would of liked and the button press on the face buttons felt a little stiffer than i enjoy. other than my personal gripes, the controller is definitely stocked full of options for every thing you can think of. (changes, modifications, replacements, customized keys; honestly this thing has every bell and whistle you could want in a controller) between the software configurations to the hardware modifications that you can perform on the fly, this controller has it all and then some. If you are looking for a multipurpose customizable controller, then you should definitely give this one a go.

Almost perfect, best 3rd party controller on PS5

3rd party controllers have come a long Way from when I was a kid. When I was young you would want to run far away from 3rd party controllers they never worked as good and were usually way cheaper in quality. Now you have companies like Victrix that in many ways this controller does things better than the dualsense. This controller packed with features you don’t get with your regular dualsense like the trigger stops change your trigger to mouse like button to make it easier and quicker to shoot your opponent’s in an fps. You can change the position of your stick moving the module I prefer the Xbox style but if you want it more like PlayStation you can do that too. And the fight pad module is a revelation , I’ve always been a fight pad user so being able to take my controller and putting the six button module in and be able to just use it quickly is so awesome. The fact the controller comes with all the accessories and very nice cable and controller case is great. The controller works great for all the games you play whether it’s action games, fighting games or fps whatever you want to throw at this controller it handles with ease. The only thing that I would mark it down is it doesn’t have the trigger effects the dualsense has which does make a difference when your playing story driven games you lose out on that effect.

After several days of use on both pc and my ps5, I’ve gotten a firm grip on the pluses and minuses of this remastered controller. It is excellent for fighting games. From Street Fighter 6, Dragonball Fighter Z, to Mortal Kombat 1 and Tekken 8, this is a great alternative to the giant blocky arcade stick. The buttons are springy and responsive and the joystick had me doing dragon-punch motions with ease. On the flip side, it is not ideal for first person shooters. Sometimes precise lining up of the shot is a little squishy. Borderlands 4, Call of Duty, both felt a tad… off. The customizable control options are awesome. I’ve always preferred the “Xbox” controller layout with asymmetrical joysticks. This gives me that design for my ps5 gameplay. Setup was super simple for both ps5 and pc. In hand feel and ergonomics are absolutely spot on. It’s got a hefty feel and smooth response time for 99% of the games I tried. I definitely recommend it for hardcore fighter fans, but anyone looking for a more casual gaming experience I’d say the value is a tougher sale.

When you are knee deep in the heat of battle the last thing you need is a controller plagued by slow, inaccurate movements or non customizable buttons. If those things hinder you, then you need the Vitrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller from Turtle Beach. This controller comes packed with extras that will up your game! First, it looks amazing! The sleek lines and aesthetics are eye catching and the controller is, over all, comfortable in the hands of the person using it. Second, it is super customizable! You can unscrew, remove, and rearrange different parts to add a fight pad to the controller! You can also customized the joysticks and d-pad! The underside of the controller also has buttons that can be mapped to do whatever function you would like them to do! The triggers on the controller are also customizable! All of the customization inside the software of the controller is done with the software downloaded from the Turtle Beach website. It also allows you to update the controller and run diagnostics. The controller also includes a usb plug for wireless connection to your console and a usb-c cable for direct connection and charging. I have loved playing with this controller and I look forward to many more battles won with its help!

This is a good controller that has a lot of cool features with swappable parts and customizable buttons/switches to get the experience an individual prefers for their gaming setup. The controls are responsive and I like the feature that locks the buttons on top of the controller to a short press for quicker action in a FPS type game. The buttons on the back are potentially useful, but I disabled them because there were constant inadvertent clicks that kept interrupting my games. Using this with a PS5, it works with the included dongle attached to one of the USB ports on the front of the gaming system. But I have mostly ever gamed on PS5 and this controller feels like it aligns more with XBox, or PC gamers who are used to that style remote. Whether it's the weight of this controller, the back buttons throwing off the way I'm gripping it, or the overall design, I found myself putting this to the side and using the standard PS5 controller for any games that required quick reaction times, like COD online. Overall, there's nothing inherently wrong with this controller, and I think a lot of gamers will enjoy it, especially with the ability to customize the controls. You can see in the pictures that there are little screws (screwdriver included) and you can change the layout or swap the joystick for extra buttons. There's even different options for the joysticks, D-Pad, etc. There's a ton included in the package. My rating is based entirely on ease of use for someone used to a PS controller, along with the back buttons and need to connect to a PC and download an app to disable those buttons. I would recommend it to PC gamers and XBox users, but for PS gamers in particular, it might not be the option I would recommend.

The Turtle Beach Victrix Pro controller for Playstation 4,5 and PC is a controller like no other I have seen or used. The amount of versatility added with its modular features is unmatched in the market. Not only does it's modular capabilities make it stand out it's ergonomics are top notch as well. As soon as you pick up the Victrix Pro it just feels right in your hands perfectly formed for your palms. It is something you must experience yourself to really grasp. The praise for the Victrix Pro does not stop there though. The quality of this controller is evident in the tactile feel of the buttons and joysticks as well. When you use them they just feel like they are going to last a long time. When you put all of this together you get a gaming experience that is unrivaled by standard controllers. Once you set up your ideal layout with the modules did the game you're playing you become aware of the difference it makes to set up your controller to make it ideal for the game you are playing. The Victrix Pro has a button for everything and even some extra and it even has features like the fire buttons quick fire setting due situations when you really need to get some rounds of quick. I can honestly say that this is easily the best controller I have ever used. The Victrix Pro is the full I package and the quality and versatility is there to help your be your best!
