We appreciate your feedback. It's always frustrating when an appointment is not up to standards and having your Agent miss visiting your home at the scheduled time is not a good way to start a business relationship. I do apologize for the disappointment as this is not the kind of service we aim to provide our customers. We hope that you will give us a chance to make it right and reach out to us at (800) GEEK-SQUAD or (800) 433-5778.

Thanks for taking the initiative to reach out to us about TV Calibration services. At this point, we would love to see what we can do to help. To receive a calibration, a service appointment does need to be scheduled, so we would certainly want to look into this for you if you aren’t aware of an existing appointment. To that end, we would advise to call us at (800) GEEK-SQUAD or (800) 433-5778.

I recently purchased a Sharp LC70TQ15U HDTV and wanted to maximize its high quality screen potential. Between my Disney “WOW” calibration disc and the posted calibration for the “SQ” on Amazon, I was able to get the picture looking better than out of the box. As with any setup, ambient lighting is the key. Everyone’s settings for the same unit will be different because of the lighting environment and unit differences. The SQ settings on Amazon were not right for me either and required adjusting. I have read a lot of post about whether or not to invest in a professional ISF calibration. Then I read the reviews of the Geek Squad calibrations and they seem to indicate a “hit or miss” as to the quality of the end results. I went back to my local Best Buy and my salesman assisted me with my decision. He informed me the person that does their calibrations is ISF certified and very good. He introduced me to him and after speaking with him, I felt confident he was qualified and he will do a good job.
My scheduled appointment was a week later, which was good, as I need to have at least 100 hours on the TV for it to break-in before calibration. Geek Squad gives a 4 hour window for the scheduled day. The tech called before he arrived to let me know he was on his way and he showed up at the time he said. He brought all his equipment into the house, being careful of my carpet, furniture, and TV. He is polite, courteous, and very knowledgeable explaining what he is doing as he went along. It took just short of two hours for him to complete the job. He then had me play a DVD and OMG! I was amazed at the improvement. Here I thought I had dialed in a decent looking picture on my own. After his calibration this picture was even more amazing. He told me I had a good picture, but there is no way anyone can get it right without the proper equipment and training. My now good looking TV looks even more amazing. I also asked if he made any adjustments in the service menu (not user accessible) and he said no. He told me newer TV’s have most of the color adjustments that were “service menu” only now in the main menu. So everything he did can be reset back to “out of the box” by clicking “Reset”. With this in mind, if you have kids or family members who may change these settings, be it accident or otherwise, please record/document all the settings so you can correct them should they be changed/reset.
I am more than pleased with Geek Squads TV calibration. To me it was well worth the cost and cheaper than an ISF independent professional. My Geek Squad tech is as every bit the same professional with the same ISF training, certification, and equipment. He takes pride in his work and is exceptionally good at it. Remember, your TV is calibrated for a specific room light level. You cannot expect a dark room calibration (like mine) to look good in a sun lit or bright room and vise versa. However, to remedy this, you can do what I did. I set my “User” AV mode with the same calibrated “Movie” AV mode settings and then adjusted just the Backlight, Contrast, and Brightness for my daytime bright room. I just change the AV mode from “Movie” to “User” as required. I prefer weekend football in a daylight environment; I spill less that way.
If you are happy with the way you have your TV set up, do not spend the money on a calibration. If like me, you have invested $$$$ and you know your TV can give more and you want more, do the calibration. Just do a little research before you pull the trigger and understand what you will get and who will do it.

I had this calibration done on my 4k tv (sony 850c) today. I didn't see much of a difference when viewing cable tv, but I did notice a big improvement when viewing a bluray movie. The colors and clarity definitely improved and i'm enjoying the new picture. However, I don't think the calibration is worth $250. It definitely does improve the picture, but I don't think the difference is enough to be worth the cost. If $250 is chump change for you then I would definitely recommend getting your tv calibrated. If $250 is not, then I don't think you'll be satisfied with the difference it makes.

Sony Z9D 75" - Jay calibrated my TV.
He arrived on schedule, explained the entire calibration process, he explained the equipment and their functionality. He asked me a series questions to get a better idea of my TV viewing angle, time of day I watch the most television, and what type of programming I watch most often i.e. 4K, UHD, HD, Streaming or regular Television Programming. He then explained the proper color spectrum/standard, then he explained the picture processing specific to my TV manufacturer.
A pre-calibration test was done, then a post-calibration test and comparison was done. Right out of the box my tv colors were way off spectrum, and the calibration corrected the picture spectrum per the standard.
The White and Black spectrum are now perfect, the colors are now true realistic color which reveal picture details that I was unable to see before calibration. If I want a more vibrant picture, all I need to do now is adjust the brightness only. The test results were explained and emailed to me.
I am very satisfied, and wish I had this service done sooner. I will be calibrating my other televisions in the future.

Full Disclosure: I had this service performed for free, as a Reward Zone Premier Silver benefit. I am fairly tech savvy and have borderline OCD when it comes to my technology. Even though this was a free service for me, I still debated for a long time on whether or not I should get this done, as I was reluctant to have someone from Geek Squad come and calibrate my TV. I had already calibrated the TV on my own using a calibration Blu-ray disc and was pretty happy with my own settings. In the end, I decided to give it a shot, since it was free for me anyway. If I didn't like it, I could always go back to my own settings. I am very glad that I decided to schedule it. Also, I apologize for the long review. As this is quite expensive without Silver benefits, I thought that I would try to give as much information as I can.
I called on a Sunday evening to request an appointment. They asked me if I had at least 100 hours on the TV as a break-in period. I did, so they scheduled and appointment for me for Wednesday of that same week. The appointment was originally set for a four hour block (in between 8am and 12pm). The day before the appointment, the tech called me to confirm the appointment and let me know that he would call in the morning to further specify what time he arrive. The morning of the appointment, he called at around 8:15am and told me he would be there in about an hour (I appreciated the heads up). True to his word, he arrived a little less than an hour later.
Before he started working, I asked if he minded if I stuck around and watched, as I was curious as to what the process would be. He told me he didn't mind at all and he would be happy to answer any questions that I had throughout the calibration process. The service includes calibration for two HDMI inputs. All of my devices connect through a home theater receiver, so in theory, he only needed to calibrate one input in my case (he did two anyway). For those of you who don't use a receiver with HDMI switching, keep in mind that this service is for only two inputs. For those of you who have TVs with special service menus, this may be an issue; for others who have access to advanced color, brightness, and contrast settings, you can probably just copy and set the other inputs yourself after the tech is done. He worked for about an hour and was answering any questions that I had throughout the process; he seemed quite knowledgeable.
When he was done he went over everything with me and we tested out a few different sources to see how it looked. We tried out a few different TV channels, ranging from shows with bright lighting and colors (such as on The Food Network) to channels with darker scenes with shadows (such as on The SyFy network). Then we tested out a video game on my Xbox 360 and then finally we tried The Dark Night on Blu-ray on my PS3. The difference was tremendous. From my own calibrations, the brightness and the contrast was pretty close...however the color was at a completely different level. Everything just looks "real" now. I don't know how to explain it, but the colors simply look like they would in real life. The ingredients on The Food Network looked like they would in my own kitchen. The cilantro looked so real that I could practically smell it. Cayenne pepper looked like it was straight out of a jar in my cabinet. I think what really "wowed" me though was The Dark Knight on Blu-ray. He asked if I had anything on Blu-ray that I wanted to try out. That was the disc that I gave him, with a particular scene in mind. Upon putting the disc in, he went to the scene selection and went straight to the exact scene that I was thinking of (the car chase scene), without me saying anything. It looked amazing. I've watched that movie many times on Blu-ray on my own TV and the sets of a few of my friends and family members as well. I don't think I've seen it like that since I saw the movie in the theater for the first time. It was simply awesome.
Overall, I highly recommend this service, especially to Premier Silver members who can get it for free. For $250, it's a tougher call. On one hand, it did make a huge difference on my TV, even though I had already calibrated it myself. At this point, I truly can't imagine going back to my old settings. On the other hand, that is a lot of money (that's actually exactly 1/3 of the cost of my TV that was calibrated). In the future though, if I ever need to calibrate a TV again and I could not get it for free again, I think I probably would pay the $250.
For reference, here's my equipment:
Mitsubishi WD-60739 60" DLP TV
Yamaha RXV567 Receiver
Tivo HD
Xbox 360
PS3
Roku HD
HTPC running XBMC

getting my panasonic vt 30 calibrated was so worth it!!!!!!!! U have to understand what it means to calibrate a tv- basically making the picture look natural and be able to see detail instead of super bright and colors that just pop. To give u an idea without spending a dime, tv's now a days have a movie setting or calibrated dark setting, thats basically how bright its going to look with changes to the colors to make everything look like real life. I am going to calibrate my new vizio m422i-b2 i just got for the bedroom after i put 100hrs on it to break it in. DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we bought our LG 65" 4k TV we were told to have it calibrated to get the best possible imaging! We waited, set up an appointment and when the Geek Squad came, I mentioned how the imaging was pretty good but expected the imaging to be exceptional after they leave ! The one Geek Squad guy said the LG's have the best true imaging closest to a calibration, (while the other said "I suppose were're doing a calibration of a calibration!!) We were told that LG uses a company that makes calibration equipment and that's why their TV are so good. Well they were calibrating for almost 50 minutes and I said the TV now looks like there is a film over everything and nothing stands out like a 4K TV should!! I was told we could always go back to the original settings that came with the TV (as LG has 7 presets). Now why would we do that after paying $249.00 for a better viewing experience!! I told them over and over again that what they did looks exactly like the preset Cinema mode already set from the factory! I wanted my money back and all the 1-800 Geek Squad number insisted on was a redo and when I asked what happens if we are still not happy was told "They are the Geek Squad"!! 2nd try and same results only now the whites look grey and STILL the APS setting is clearer, sharper and more colorful that what was done!!! Perhaps different calibration equipment is needed for the new 4k TV's to get a crisper cleaner image rather than a dull Cinema mode!!
Now on the phone over an hour with a Geek Squad CSR and their manager and so far they WILL NOT GIVE ME THE 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE BECAUSE they say once something is installed there is no refunds BUT I ASKED WHY DOES IT SAY 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE RIGHT ON THE BEST BUY SITE??? and of course I get no clear explanation except that if the Geek Squad did something wrong MAYBE something could be done (but I am not holding my breath as I was also told it would take over 72 hours for a call back to answer me!! So I called the men who did the calibration now as the 800 number just offered me another re-do!!! I was then told by the men who came twice to my house once again that LG has the best right out of the box settings and honestly there is little difference with the Cinema mode and the Geek Squad calibration,so now I should go to the Store and try to get my money back!1 After spending almost $7,000 over the last 3 years I am at my wits end and hope the Store Manger stands behind the "30 day money back guarantee" So bottom line if you buy an LG the calibration is really not worth it as the presetting right out of the box are Better than calibration re-do
If I was told this straight up and not told how I NEEDED A CALIBRATION WHEN BUYING THE NEW LG 4K I could saved myself hours of pain and my gut is paying for something not needed!

After debating, and doing my research (from consumer reports, calling samsung, reading reviews, and talking to television gurus) I decided to get my television calibrated after 4 months and it was the best investment that I have made on my set.
So let's start by some concerns that I had, first, I thought I could do it on my own by buying a dvd online about $20 and following the instructions, but it turns out that A. All you are really doing is playing with the colors and you are not really affecting anything on the set. B. if you play with the service menu you are voiding the manufactures warranty and run the risk to ruining your television. Second, I thought the price was too high. A. Well it turns out that if you get an ISF Certified technician outside best buy it was going to cost me $700 to do a house call as he explained to me that his equipment cost a lot of money. So I guess best buy price is a bargain for a technician who is Certified through the ISF institute and as they use the same equipment that private parties use. B. for something that is going to give me a good value and best picture on my television for a one time fee I think it's well worth it.
If you are on the fence I would recommend you do your research and find out for yourself. Personally, I would recommend you do it, you will not regret it. If you decide to get it, I would highly recommend that the person who watches television the most is home when they calibrate the set.

It's a hit and miss with getting calibration from Best Buy's Geek Squad. I had 3 calibrations from them: first one I paid for, then had to replace the TV due to a defect, so they came out to calibrate the replacement TV again. This second calibration was so awful that I had to get them back in to re-calibrate it (3rd calibration). Here are the bottom line facts:
- Quality of their calibrators varies greatly, so you practically have no idea if you'll get a pretty decent calibration, or a rather "bad" one.
- My first and last calibration were pretty decent though, and they will get your picture to look certainly better than any factory preset, but it is not exactly your top calibration. They spend maybe 45 minutes on your TV, whereas the best calibrators will spend a few hours. So if you are going to spend money to get the best picture your TV can provide, you may want to consider if you want to pay for only decent picture, or really the best picture? This may affect your decision which calibration service to go for.
- They also tend to go into TV's service mode, which should not be necessary, and I would prefer they just played with the TV's picture management modes instead. Whatever they change in the service menu is something I cannot undo or change later if I want, since the service menu is inaccessible to the regular user. Also changes in the service menu affect all picture modes of the TV, so you do not have any of the original factory presets any more the way they were delivered (for any of your own personal tweaks, or if you don't really like how they have adjusted your picture, etc).
In the end, I would certainly highly recommend anyone to get their TV calibrated one way or another, as factory presets are pretty bad and inaccurate on all TV's even the most expensive ones. However, just be aware that it's a bit of a hit and miss with Geek Squad, and if they don't get it to your satisfaction the first time, you may have to get a different guy to come out and correct it to your liking...

I had thought about getting my new 60" Samsung LED (UN60F7100) TV calibrated, as I have seen other peoples TV's after calibration and the picture quality was great. I am a Best Buy Reward zone Premier Silver member and I was able to get the calibration done for free. I had read the reviews and even with a lot of bad reviews, I decided to give it a try. It was the best decision I could of made. I called on a Monday and had a appointment set for 12 to 4 the next day (Tue), the Geek Squad technician (Kris P.) called me at 11AM Tue and said he would be at my house around 12:15PM. He showed up at 12:18PM, was very professional, he set up his testing equipment and explained each and every step as he went about doing the calibration. It took him just over a hour to set the TV settings, he then checked to make sure my Direct TV DVR box was working with the new TV settings, going to many different channels so we could see the picture quality, and then he loaded up a DVD in my Blu-Ray DVD player and tested it also. After everything was done he sent the test report that shows all of the settings (in case of long term power outage) to my e-mail address, printed out all 9 pages and saved it, just in case I need it down the road. The picture is out of this world, the colors are 10 times better then they were out of the box, everything looks so real that you think the actor is going to walk out of the TV and shake your hand. If you are spending money on a new LED / Plasma TV, do yourself a favor and spend a little bit more and get your TV calibrated, it's well worth it.
