Are you immersed in the Apple ecosystem? Do you have an iWatch, iPhone, and AirPods? Do you have difficulty charging multiple devices at the same time? The Butterfly SE 2-in-1 travel charger may fit your needs at home and on the road. I’ve been using various solutions to charge multiple devices, including a multi-head cable that charges my Apple iPhone via Lightning port and my iWatch with its magnetic base. However, the cable is flimsy, and I’ve been looking for a portable base stand for work and travel. At home, I use a fixed charging base for nightly overnight charges, but it is clearly an issue when I am on the road. Lately, I have been traveling every couple of weeks, and not having a charger in my travel to-go bag is more of a hassle than anything. Most cable solutions are flimsy and honestly easy to lose or forget. However, this compact travel case with a charging base works very well for my needs. It uses a USB-C cable as input to charge either an iPhone or AirPods and an iWatch. The compact charger looks like a little makeup mirror, which can be confusing, but at least it is not pink! The charging speeds were adequate using the charger with a standard USB-A to USB-C cable. The specs request a 20W USB-C charger (USB-PD), which I do not have in my travel to-go bag. I was happy to see the unit charges just as well with a regular USB power block outputting 12W (5v at 2.4 amp), but it is a bit slower. I also tested the charging base with Android phones with the wireless charging option; it worked fine. My biggest gripe with the unit is that it is hard to tell where the charging base for the wireless charger is due to its size. The unit is magnetic and will clasp back quickly, so the outer edge is magnetic. You must place the phone (iPhone or Android) in the right location for it to start charging, place it incorrectly, and you find the phone does not charge correctly. My iPhone case identifies where the wireless charging coil is located, but Android phones do not usually specify the charge coil location. I also wish it had a better color scheme than just flat black. I may joke that it is not pink, but having other fun color options or skins for the travel charger would have been nice. It would have been nice if the retail box contained a charger power block and cable, making it more useful out of the box. Many hotels do not have USB outlets in the rooms, and end users must remember to carry a charging power block with a USB-C interface to use this travel charger. Overall, it is a compact, neat, and helpful device for road warriors and occasional travelers; just remember to pack a USB-C cable and a charging block to use the charger.

I got the Twelve South Butterfly SE to ease my travel packing and it has been great so far. I needed an all in one solution to charge my phone, watch, and airpods which wouldn't take up too much space in my luggage and this little guy really did the trick. It is pretty compact and fits nicely in the inner pocket of my backpack. Once opened up, it lays nice and flat and is plenty heavy enough to not be easily knocked around or off a hotel nightstand. The magnet which keeps it closed doubles as the alignment magnet on my phone so I never have to wonder or worry whether it is really charging. That side also doubles as a standard Qi charger for any other device you might have, including the charging case of my airpods. On the other side, you can flip up the watch charger for use in nightstand mode. If you don't have a loop band, you can leave it down and charge the watch laying flat. Also, if you have limited space and only want to charge one device at a time, you can flip it "inside out" and only use what you need. The only issue I've had with this charger is the ability to use it as a stand for my phone for watching videos, etc. Although it is marketed as having that ability, I've found the magnets on the "back" sides aren't really that strong so it want to pull apart and let the phone move or fall, which obviously isn't ideal. If you fiddle with where the hinge is you can alleviate much of it, but the issue is still there. I don't often use the charger for this purpose so it's more of an annoyance to me than anything else. Otherwise, with a nice long cord included, I would say this is a fantastic addition to my light packing arsenal.

I do quite a bit of traveling and I thought this was a useful traveling Companion. I have multiple Apple devices and I’m always fumbling With my charging cords Whenever we travel somewhere. This two and one charging station for the Iphone and Apple is a useful solution to cut down on all the cords and also offer a two and one solution to charge from a single cord and charging block. Set up is instantaneous and nothing to really do except flip the charging dock Open. It is very compact as a little puck that can easily fit in your pocket or a ladies even small purse. Charging is very quick on both the phone and the watch. Honestly, I could use this also as a main charging station on my nightstand at my main residence home. It is compact and looks very neat and tidy. I also think would be useful for travel en route and you’re stuck in an airport, you need to charge up your phone and watch real quick and you can only find a single outlet. It’s a great little traveling companion and also main charging station if you so desire. I highly recommend if you travel a Or you don’t like a lot of cluttering of cords on your home Nightstand

As someone traveling for work I like to pack efficiently and bring the minimum number of charging accessories I need. I am particularly interested in multi-device chargers using the latest standards so I can charge multiple accessories in a fast, efficient manner. With Qi2 and USB-C now spreading across devices as the new charging standards, there have never been more choices for staying juiced up. Travel chargers in particular have had something of a renaissance, with manufacturers trying out all sorts of interesting shapes and sizes to offer multi-device charging on the go. Twelve South's latest is the Butterfly SE, a follow up to their gorgeous Butterfly MagSafe charger of last year. The SE takes the same delightfully small, round form factor and swaps the aluminum exterior of the original for one of three matte finish plastics while upgrading the magnetic charging coil to the Qi2 standard. Twelve South includes a nice braided USB-C cable in the box, but no power adapt or international plug adapters like the original Butterfly. The Butterfly SE arrived in a tidy package, neatly packed within paper and cardboard, an eco-friendly touch that's easily recyclable. The charger itself is fabulously compact and understated. The outside shell is smooth and soft, while the inside and soft hinge linking the two sides are made of a nice (I assume artificial) leather material. The Qi2 pad is covered in this material, while the Apple Watch charger is the same white puck Apple provides. I was immediately impressed with the materials quality of the Butterfly SE and the included USB-C cable. It looks and feels premium inside and out, although the aluminum shell of the original model would no doubt be more durable than this soft plastic. I appreciate the strong magnets that hold the two halves together for travel and storage, and the flexible hinge joining them feels durable enough to survive the requisite travel use. In addition to its compact size, the Butterfly SE manages to pack a few tricks as well. The Apple Watch charger will work flat on a table, but it also rises vertically to charge your watch in nightstand mode. The hinge is smooth and nicely stiff, adding to the premium feel and durability I'd expect from this level of charger. What's more, you can fold the Butterfly SE back on itself and more hidden magnets will attach the two haves to each other in the reverse orientation, letting you use just one or the other side to charge. Even better, when attached to your phone in this orientation the charger will prop it up horizontally, activating StandBy Mode. Neat! I brought the Butterfly SE with me on a recent overnight to see how it performed. As expected, it took up next to no space in my bag, and the magnets kept it neatly closed while I traveled. When I arrived it was as simple as plugging in the USB-C cable and using an appropriate wall adapter for power. My phone and watch both attached to their respective charging pads with a satisfying snap and began charging immediately. I didn't run a timed test, but as far as I can tell the Butterfly SE delivers the fast charging speeds it promises. Key to this is using an appropriately powerful adapter, of which I have a few. I personally don't mind that Twelve South didn't include a wall adapter in the box, as I have more than enough compatible USB-C bricks, and would prefer to bring one powerful enough to charge all my devices on the go, rather than multiple adapters of differing sizes and wattages. I do appreciate the included USB-C cable being longer and nicely braided -- yo can never have enough of these, IMHO. Overall I'm really pleased with the Twelve South Butterfly SE. It does exactly what it promises in a small-but-mighty form factor, and feels built to withstand years of travel. The materials are attractive and high quality, although I do wish the outside was made of the same aluminum as the original. While sturdy, I do see this plastic shell getting scratched over time. I'm glad Twelve South went with the same soft leather (or leather-like) lining, which is not only a premium touch, but provides a nice soft surface for your devices to rest against. All told, the Twelve South Butterfly SE is a winner for me, and an easy recommendation for anyone with an iPhone and Apple Watch looking for a premium portable charging option.

The ButterFly SE 2-in-1 Qi2 Travel Charger by Twelve South is awesome. Overview - Compact design is the best. It fits in the pouch in my backpack. Goodbye to my Apple watch charger and my wireless phone charger when travelling. I used to pack both and took up a bit of unneeded space. Packaging - came in a very solid bubble pack package. Inside that packaging was the actual box which had a photo of the item which made me very excited seeing the size of the small box. Hardware - the black is sleek and is a magnetic closure. The watch charger folds down and out of the way and the entire case folds together. The phone charger is magnetic and works with the magsafe case on my iPhone. Results: I received the charger before I went on a two day trip and absolutely was blown away at how quick it charged my phone before dinner. I was in a meeting all day and used my phone which was down to 25%, plugged in the charger and laid my phone on it. Took a short nap and when I woke up, the phone was at 70% and ready to go. I charged both my watch and phone when I went to bed and both items were fully charged the next morning. Very impressive to say the least the results of the charging and the small footprint which will make this a great travel companion. Looking foward to many years of using this device.

I work in multiple locations on a daily basis and often have to move my entire setup. Between my work laptop, personal computer, phone, and watch, cutting down on necessary cables is essential, but lugging around a three-headed dock stand is an absurd proposition. It's not the prettiest accessory I've ever used, but this Twelve South charger is definitely one of the most functional - it's easy to pack up, easy to use, charges my iPhone and watch at a decent clip, and cuts down on my necessary cord count by 1. Twelve South has a good reputation for building other hardware like laptop stands, and out of the box it feels utilitarian but also rugged enough to withstand multiple opens/closes/bends. I also like the flexibility it gives for charging your Apple Watch in Nightstand Mode, flat, or charging just one device at a time based on your needs. There may be other options available at potentially lower prices on the internet, but Twelve South's track record of good products make me hopeful this will be a better/safer long-term investment.

I really like a travel charger that can provide charging to multiple devices in a small package. Even more so when it can do charging wirelessly. The Twelve South Butterfly SE is technically a 2-in-1 charger that folds into a really small, very good looking travel form, with the added benefit of being able to wirelessly charge a set of earbuds or other wireless capable device, but it's maximum output is 15 watts for phones, and 5 watts for an Apple Watch. I would say this is definitely focused toward customers that use Apple products, because the watch component will only work with an Apple Watch, and compatible AirPods cases, but other earbuds cases and other brand watches don't work on this part of the charger. The phone side of the charger accommodates other phones though, as well as other brand earbuds with wireless charging cases, so it's not completely incompatible. The form is very small and sleek, it has a cold touch to it implying it's aluminum, but I believe it's actually a plastic casing with a soft touch finish. It does feel quality though. The strap that holds together the two pieces is also plastic, but it has a tough feel like leather. The two halves stick together magnetically, and it feels strong. The phone magnet and watch magnet both feel strong when a device is applied. My unit though seems to have a flaw. The instruction and the website both say the two halves can be reversed and will stick together making it a single use stand or charger for either your phone or watch, but my two halves appear to have magnets that are using the same poles, so they repel each other. This does not happen when I have closed it though. So I just have to use it fully open, even if I don't have two devices on it at one time. It also needs a 30W minimum AC adapter to power both charging pads, otherwise the unit will prioritize charging a phone if both a phone and watch are on it. And it only comes with a very nice USB-C to USB-C cable, no AC adapter. Would I suggest this charging unit? Maybe. If my unit had the ability to reverse close I may say yes 100% recommended, but for the price, I feel like quality control might be subpar. I think there are other options out there that might be a better value.

I almost didn't get this, since I have a watch chargers around the house and in my office already, but I thought that this would go well in the laptop case, so I have it handy when I'm out and about, or when traveling and staying at a hotel. It's a simple product. The out of box experience is straight forward, and nothing difficult. They have no wrapping or tape or anything else that is frustrating or required a sharp object. Even the tape holding the sliding cover on the box had a place to grab it to rip it off to open without tools. Inside the charger itself is in a cardboard piece, and underneath the cardboard is the charging cable. I will give them props for the charging cable as well - nice cable. Not some cheap thing. The unit itself is small, easy to put just about anywhere for travel. It's held closed magnetically and I like the fact that the hinge point is just a piece of the same material covering the charger inner surfaces, not a plastic hinge or something that would be more likely to suffer failure. The two halves separate easily, and the pop-up piece for the watch charging comes up easily as well. About the only thing someone may complain about is that it doesn't come with a wall wart, but for me that was fine, I have more than enough of those already. I'm still on an older iPhone 13 Pro max, and that worked fine even with my magnetic case on it. The watch (Apple Watch Series 8 with cellular) popped right into place magnetically as well with the watch charger elevated. For fun, I tried to charge the watch with the watch charger fully seated back in the position it would be in to close the whole charger up. Since I use an elastic fabric band, I was able to just twist the watch inside out so the bottom charging surface of the watch was on the outside, and it worked fine when I set it down this way as well. Definitely something that I'll be carrying around since I can use this from my Surface Pro 11 to charge things up. Nice build quality, doesn't feel cheap at all.

As I travel a lot, I was excited to get the Twelve South - ButterFly SE 2-in-1 Qi2 Travel Charger. I have had Twelve South products in the past and they are well made. This charger is no different. It is a sturdy charger that is easy portable. Throw it in your backpack or suitcase and you can charge your phone, Apple Watch, and AirPods from the device (though you can only charge two items at a time). Given that it is USB C which is commonplace now, you can use one of your existing USB chargers to plug in the charger with the included braided USB C cable. Just be sure to use at least a 30 watt charger at a minimum to get the best possible charging speeds. My only concern with this device is that the charging speeds are not great. I can understand with the phone charger as the Qi2 standard tops out at 15 watts. However, the I would have expected the Apple Watch charger to fast charge, especially given the price tag of this charger. I tested the charge on my Apple Watch Ultra 2. In 10 minutes on the Twelve South charger, it went up 3%. On the charging cable that came with the watch, in 10 minutes, it went up 10%. Just over 3 times as fast to charge using Apple’s charging cable (or any Apple Watch fast charger). It is fine if you don’t wear your watch at night so it can charge, but for those of us who wear it to sleep, we need fast charging. A shame this wasn’t included at this price point. In the end, this is a great portable travel charger is the really convenient to carry with you. However, it may not be for everyone depending on how quickly you need to charge your Apple Watch. I now carry this device AND an official Apple Watch cable.

The TwelveSouth ButterFly SE Travel Charger is a must have for the travel. I must say it is a worthy unit for home use for those who want to reduce the clutter. Like most product these days, charging blocks are not included. I personally don’t appreciate this trend, however because of this, having a charging device that supports multiple products at the same time using one cable (USB-C) which is included is a big plus. I struggle to find the necessary cable and corresponding charging block all the time, so having this is one less hassle to deal with. This unit folds up nicely and doesn’t take up much space. Obviously one of the charging stations is for the Apple Watch, but not only can you charge your phone in the other charging pad, it is compatible with any wireless charging such as wireless charging compatible AirPods. This unit give some flexibility on orientation. You can lay it flat and just set your watch and phone flat on the units. The watch charging station flips up so you can charge it as nightstand mode which displays your watch as a digital clock display. You can also put the back ends together, which is magnetic and use the device with your phone as a stand. Not only is the back magnetic but the QI phone charger is also magnetic which works perfectly with MagSafe phones. I found the stand to be quite stable. And while set up as a stand, when the phone is not in use, your phone display will also go into night stand mode displaying a nice clock. If I didn’t already have a 3 in one charging station in my night stand, I would definitely use this at home as well. But definitely meets the needs while traveling.

The Twelve South Butterfly SE is an incredibly handy device for Apple phone & watch users. The ability to travel with just one charger is awesome. And its clamshell design makes it easy to just pop in a bag or even just your pocket. Charging speed seems very good. The phone portion is rated at 15 watts with the watch charging at 5 watts. If you are anything like me and you place your phone and watch on chargers when you go to bed, this will be plenty fast enough to have them fully charged by morning. Overall the build quality is pretty good. The charging portions feel solid. I do have a concern that the flexible part that connects the two halves might not be a sturdy but only time will tell. Just feels a bit more flimsy. However, so far I haven’t had any issues. In use, I’ve found the phone stays solidly attached and easy to line up. The watch part is a little bit different. The magnet seems just as strong, but I think the watch slides down just enough in the vertical position to cause a charge connection loss from time to time. But if I keep the watch laying flat (or close to it) I don’t have any problems. Overall, I’m very happy with this travel charger and can recommend it.

The Twelve South Butterfly SE portable 2 in 1 Qi charger is a mouthful to say, but easy to carry. Lightweight and small, it makes an excellent travel companion or desktop charger. Consisting of two disks, each 2.25” across and ½” thick and connected with a wide silicone strap, the Butterfly charger will fit in the palm of your hand. Weighing just 3.6 ounces, you’ll barely notice that it’s there. Logically, one disk is used to charge your phone, the other to charge your smart watch (while TwelveSouth targets its products mostly to Apple products, it should work with any Qi-compatible phone and watch). The watch disk has a smaller disk that flips up from the center, providing a secure horizontal charging surface. The two disks are held together magnetically, eliminating the need for any type of bulky tie-down strap. Construction feels solid, with high-quality materials and excellent workmanship, so one would expect the Butterfly SE to last a long time. The rubberized exterior of the charger means it won’t slip off a desk or nightstand. Most Qi chargers have a light on the side to let you know when they are plugged in and/or charging, but this one is light free. Thankfully, if you’re charging at night, as you have no distracting lights to interrupt your sleep. This is a really handy portable charger, and I am happy to add it to my travel kit.

This Twelve South - ButterFly SE Travel Charger is a Godsend. I've been starveling to help my mom a lot recently with appointments out of town and staying with her a few nights every few weeks, and it was such a pain to get my other charger off the nightstand and put it back. I had been looking for a good solution and this is it. The way that it folds makes is easy to store if you want. I actually leave it next to the TV when I'm not traveling and us it to charge my watch every night while watching TV. Then I just grab it and put it in the bag when traveling. Now remember, this is a wireless charger and it charges quickly for what it is. It charges quicker being Qi2 than older wireless charges, but don't expect the speed of wired chargers. But since I'm not home when using it, I just put my phone and watch on it when I'm showering or winding down at night and it charges quick enough. And if you leave it all night, it'll definitely charge to full. I personally don't do that and choose to charge a few times during the day. For the size and speed that you get, I love this charger. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good charger to travel with.

This charger would be good for travel but does not come with a wall plug and does not maintain a charge on my phone. This travel charger came with the charger and USB C cord out of the box. You must provide the wall plug or other USB C charger to use. It does not provide any direction on the type of wall plug to use. I had to purchase a separate plug and they range from around $10-25 extra. Once I purchased the wall plug the setup was easy enough. You open the charger to place the watch on one side and your phone on the other. The watch charged ok but the phone would not stay charged. The first night I tried it my phone lost connection and only charged to 40% after I went to sleep. The second night the same thing happened and I went back to my regular charger. If I cannot count on the charger to charge completely without watching it then it's no good. It;s only good for the apple watch and not the iphone. I would not recommend this charger. It's easy to setup It requires an extra purchase or existing plug to use. It does not maintain a charge for your phone.

I travel quite a bit for work and personally, so keeping my Apple devices charged is important. I have a pair of Airpods Pro, 2 iPhone 15 Pros, and an Apple watch Ultra 2, which luckily all are Qi compatible devices. So I was naturally excited to try out a Qi2 Travel Charger that could fit in your pocket, but was pretty disappointed when I got the product. The USB cable provided is nice and braided, but I do not understand why for at this price point of $100, they do not provide a 30w adapter. Especially with how finnicky this thing is with the power it requires. The first device I had sent to me, like other reviewers have mentioned, would not charge my devices for more than a few minutes before stopping. This was incredibly frustrating when you would wake up to basically dead devices and have to go into work with that. I tried a myriad of power adapters while abroad with this device, nothing helped. I ended up in contact with their support team and had a new device shipped to me. I am glad to say that the new device seems to work consistently like I would expect. However, there seems to be some QA issues on this model if other people are saying the same thing. As far as charging times, it was nothing that blew me away. In about 30 minutes I went from 36% to 70% battery on my iPhone, but with my watch also charging that drops about another 10%. I am honestly not sure if this thing caps out at 30W and if using a 65W adapter would help, probably not as I am sure each is capped at 15w of charging power. Anyways, this could be a good charger if you get a good device and have a 30W type-c adapter you are willing to give up to power this device. But with possible QA issues, a steep price tag, and just your normal average Qi charging times, I don't think it is worth it. On sale? Sure.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
