Haven't fully set them up yet! But what I've seen so far there going to look great.

The Twinkly Dots work as expected. I use mine for ambient lighting effects in my home theater. The 200 dot string is exactly long enough to extend twice across the top and right and left sides of my 1009 inch projection screen, creating a nice border of lights to set off the screen before and after a movie, The power unit/connector for the light strings is in the center of the strand, so there are 100 dots to the left and 100 dots to the right of where the poser connects to the strand. From there, there is another thin wire that extends to the control unit and then the power cord that connects to the wall power. Set up was easy. Download the app to your phone or tablet first. I used wifi rather than bluetooth. The light string found my wifi right away and connected without any trouble. At first the pp didn't control the lights correctly, nut after a few minutes the app downloaded a firmware update for the controller and then everything worked correctly. Over all the Twinkly lights add a nice touch to my home theater. They also will be fun to play with when holiday decorations are up. My only criticism is that the price seems a little high for what it is, but the lights do work and look great.

These would make really awesome Christmas Tree lights. At least as far as how bright they are, and how vivid and pretty some of the colors and color combinations are. Mine came right on and worked right out of the box using the included inline control module. And these have to be one of the easiest to set up WiFi pairings / apps that I have ever used. I downloaded the app, and followed the included instructions, changed the password and was up and running in less than 5 minutes. Plus it worked the first time, which hardly ever happens. I strung the lights up over and around one of my bedroom windows so I could try them out. I was impressed with the quality of the lights themselves. The wiring is nice and flexible and feels like some sort of silicone instead of cheap plasticky rubber. There are 2 separate strings of light so the controller can be mounted in the middle, and the strings can be installed in two separate directions. Also nice is there is a few feet of plane wire without any lights so you can tuck the controller away out of sight. Overall the lights are really nice themselves, but the app might need a few updates. I had problems tuning the lights to certain colors. Orange being one of the key issues. If I clicked on orange on the app, the lights showed pale light blue or purplish... I could slide the slider around and make the lights glow orange, but the app showed something completely different on my phone. The other thing that I don't like is that according to the manual these are supposed to be unplugged whenever you're not there observing them directly. The manual says unplug them before leaving the house, going to bed, or leaving them unattended which means they aren't suitable for display purposes. It also says don't use metal nails, hooks, or staples to hang them up, and avoid using them on trees that have metal parts, or decorations that are metallic. So they are kind of limited in what they can be used for. And they're also not designed to be used outdoors, or permanently installed, so I can't use them on my porch as party lights like I wanted to.

Feels cheap, the included adhesive are hit or miss, the app is aweful. I would not buy again.

This is my first time using Twinkly dots and I think I will use them again once they remedy the adhesives they use. The product is nicely packaged and the app is very user friendly. I was able to create light patterns once the lights were installed, and I was enjoying the different light patterns but a few of the dots wouldn’t adhere to the wall. I ended up cutting a few pieces of 3M tape and the dots stuck to the wall. Not a big deal, but still something I didn’t expect I would have to do. On the plus side the light strings were very flexible. That brings me to another issue or feature (depending on your usage) is that this product isn’t one long string, it’s two separate strings of lights which could be an issue if you are trying to run a single long string. I can see how two strings could be good to wrap around a television or something like that, but I think having two strings limits what you can do with the patterns. The lights themselves are so customizable and the app is so good that the core product twinkly lights produces is excellent, they just need to improve the adhesive used and consider a modular stringing option where you can opt for two strings or just have one long string.

They are gorgeous around my work station. Can reuse them throughout the year!

I love RGB lighting for a couple of reasons but not all RGB lighting is the same and some are better than others. Twinkly are well known for there lighting products and for good reason. They offer what I consider to be one of the best built lighting packages you can buy. Unboxing is very simple with the lights, remote and paperwork being in there, the packaging is nice and you can see it's not some cheap product. The dots are featherlight unlike a lot of RGB lights which makes these super easy to install. I've put these in a couple of places so far as it's just so easy. While being very lightweight they are still made of high quality materials. Connecting the dots to your smart home of choice is also super easy, I use Google home and connecting these was painless which is a major point as some of these things can be a pain to get up and running this way. The twinkly app is available for iOS or Android and is easy to use. It gives you so many ways to customize your dots, you can even decide on individual dots behavior. I have an autistic toddler and he adores these lights, they call him when he gets upset and he just loves them in general. I highly recommend these lights, especially if you have an autistic child. They look great, they work great and can cause calm and happiness

This was our first experience with using Twinkly lights. The Twinkly Dots 200 RGB LED USB Flexible Light String is on the lower end of price for their line of lighting options so it’s a great choice to see what one thinks. The packaging has an appealing look to it with clear illustrations of some app screens, sizing and features. Setup is pretty straight forward and the product itself has a nice look and quality feel to it. One can tell instantly that these lights offer great flexibility for going around various shapes and objects. The configuration of this set has 100 light dots with a controller in the middle and the remaining 100 light dots after that. The clear string between dots enables a transparent look. Simply set up an account in the app to proceed to connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It’s important to ensure that your app is updated to the current version or you may experience issues with the right color displaying to match one’s choice in the app. Get creative and decide how you’d like to mount the string of lights. In our case we used about 1 ½ strips of the adhesive dots to wall mount half the strand around a window and the other half around our tv area. A strong adhesive, double sticky tape is also and option should one run out of adhesive dots. The appearance once mounted is pretty clean since the string is transparent and the dot is minimal in size compared to a traditional LED bulb. The lights are vibrant with lots of colors and patterns to choose from or one can customize as desired. It’s likely you’ll find some great options among the pre-made effects and animations, but the creativity is turned up a notch by using the FX Wizard creation tool in the app to affect brightness, speed, intensity and color. For larger effect, light strings can be synchronized in groups (up to 4000 LED lights and ten devices). It’s not the old method of stringing lights together physically, but the connection is made by utilizing the app’s mapping feature and then customizing as desired. It's appreciated that the app offers an on/off timer and dimmer. Home automation can be done through voice commands to Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to change brightness and color, and to turn Twinkly lights on and off. If one wants to take it to another level there is a Twinkly music accessory for separate purchase to synchronize lights and the beat of the music. These are a fun option, especially for holidays and parties. As kids are so tech savvy nowadays it would be a great way to get them involved in using the app to customize lighting and let their creativity shine.

Very pleased with this light string compared to other LED light strips I have used before. The flexibility and sleek profile mean that you can put these just about anywhere and have them concealed. I wrapped them completely around the underside of my bar and it produces a really cool effect, especially around the back where there are bottles. The app is easy to use and once you have the lights installed you can map them using your smartphone so you can create custom effects. The lights are customizable for different colors, dot by dot if you want, to create the colors or blends that you want. There are animations and other effects to add some movement to the lights, and there is an add-on to sync the lights to music, although I don't have that so I can't speak to it here. Given how flexible and easy to install these lights are, that could be a cool solution for someone who does events. Overall, I'm impressed by the quality and sophistication of these lights. They produce a nice amount of light for their size and the customization is amazing. I'll probably grab more to put above and below the kitchen cabinets for the holidays. I would recommend these to anyone, they're great!

Over the years I have had many different types of decorative lights. Going all the way back 40 years ago when my options were basically old school Christmas lights….decorative lights have come a long way since then! These lights are awesome. Just plugging them in and using the little controller is a lot of fun. There are many preset patterns you can cycle thru. The companion app takes things to the next level. Set up and pairing was quick and easy. After a quick firmware update the flexibility of these lights are truly unleashed. So many cool preset patterns and you can even create your own! Creating your own patterns with the app really isn’t that difficult. If you really get into these lights you can link multiple sets together. The colors are amazing. I have some low cost LED string lights for decoration and these lights just blow them out of the water. I’m not just talking about the patterns; I mean just the lights themselves. So bright and vivid, they look so much better than my other lights. Oh and not to mention you can use these outside. This is truly everything I would hope for in a light set like this. They are so much fun! At the end of the day, is this something that anyone NEEDS in their life? No, I wouldn’t go that far. But if you want some silly fun in your life, I would highly recommend these lights. I would give them 6 stars if I could and I would absolutely recommend these to a friend. I might even get a certain someone these for Christmas. Well done Twinkly with creating something fun and beautiful.

I am relatively new to the smart lighting arena, and I’ve been very pleased with this light string. Start with the brightness…wow, these lights have it! On first boot, they light up to 100% and it almost blinded me. That’s a very good thing - you can always turn brightness down if you need to, but it’s impossible to go higher than 100. I’m also impressed with how much of the color spectrum these lights are able to produce. Sometimes LEDs can struggle with reds and whites, but that’s not the case here. I also like how robust the string itself is. My cat is a chewer and I turned my back for a split second while unpacking and she already had them in her mouth - the lights are no worse for the wear. I’ve seen her crunch through a string of Christmas tree lights in an instant, so this is a big plus to me. I also appreciate how easy the setup process was. I plugged the lights in, downloaded the Twinkly app, and had them connected to my phone in less than 60 seconds. The scan feature on the app is very nice as well - it helped me map the lights very quickly and easily. The app also has tons of presets and I’ve been enjoying seeing all the different patterns and sequences filling up my living room. I think the bullseye for this particular product will be on a Christmas tree - I can’t wait to see what I can do with them this winter.

My son has always wanted to get some string lights for his room, so I did my research and many people recommended these Twinkly dots. They are nice packaged and are easy to prepare to get them ready to install in the room of your choice. As I do with products that I am not very familiar using, I wanted to read the manual. The print on the manual is very small and I struggled to read the small print. As I stated earlier, there isn't much you need to do to prepare the lights for installing, but I was looking for some guidance on how far apart I should place the two-sided sticky adhesive dots, but there wasn't any that I could find. I was able to go online and find videos of people installing them to figure out how far apart to place the stickies. Installing them on the tallest part on the wall to my son's room was fairly easy. While I was installing them, he downloaded he app on his phone. This app is a must to fully enjoy the Twinkly dots. It will allow you to scroll through many light patterns that you are in the mood for. At this point, I was fully satisfied with this product, as the light strings were very flexible and the light that emanates from these lights gives your room a great atmosphere, especially as you are gaming. The next day, one by one the stickies started to give out and fall from the wall. This is the reason why I gave this product 4 out of 5 stars. We had to go the craft and hobby store to find additional clear adhesives that are strong enough to support the strings of light.

You get about 33 feet of lights along with some adhesive tabs to hold them against a surface. The lights can be controlled by a hand switch or via phone app. You can either set them to a single color or have a variety of color changing patterns/motifs/designs access able from the app or by clicking through with the remote/switch. We had always wanted some kind of simple lighting on the railing of our deck for gatherings and just general lighting at the back door of the house and these fit our needs very nicely. We set the lights to a solid color most nights but did go with a cycling color scheme the other night when we had friends over. The kids had fun switching between patterns and these would be pretty nice for holiday or themed parties. The adhesive tabs weren't that great for holding to the wood railing, so I improvised and used the cup hooks we had on there from last winter's Christmas lights. I think the adhesive would be good on an interior wall or other smooth easily cleaned and maintained surface though. All in all, these were just what we had wanted and we will probably pick up a few more or at least a longer one later on.

The Twinkly Generation II dots came nicely packaged. If you were planning to purchase a set for family or friends, the packaging is inviting. The first thing I noticed that was not appealing to me was the design. You have a large plug with a decent amount of electrical cord that attaches to a controller, on the opposite end of the controller, you have two strands of flat and narrow wiring with the dots ( led lights). Each strand has approximately 3 ft. of lead wiring from the controller to the first led dot. Each strand has 100 led dots 2 inches apart from each other giving you approximately 16.4 ft. of lighting on each of the two strands. This limits the use of the lighting because you must have your power source in the center of the two strands of lighting. An example of why I had to be selective in placing the lighting; if you were wrapping the lighting around a couple of posts you would need your posts close to one and other and the dot power source would have to be placed between the two posts, at either the top or the bottom, and you would have to have an electrical outlet, or extension cord, near that area. Remember; it would take multiple sets to light a 6- or 7-foot Christmas tree and you would have to synchronize the sets with one and other to achieve some of the affects you may want or like you see in the online at twinkly. They stated that you can connect multiple Twinkly light strings in synchronized groups, up to 4000 LED lights, up to 10 strings, and with a strong Wi-Fi connection. You cannot cut or modify the physical structure of the light sets which means you would need an electrical outlet for each set of lights and remember that each set consists of two separate strands extending from the end of the controller. I didn’t care for the instructions that accompany the Twinkly Generation II dot lights. Starting with the “physical setup” you get one or two sentences, in 19 languages, on two pages for each process. Not much to the accompanying instruction booklet. You will probably need to go to the twinkly online site to look at all the different ways the dots can be utilized. I used the lighting above the kitchen and pantry room cabinets. This worked OK for me, I had 15 ft of top cabinet one way and 13 ft of top cabinet the other from my electrical outlet. I had to run the lighting in a curving pattern in order to make this work because you cannot cut or alter the strands. The twinkly lights are not as bright as my led strip lights. I was going to use the twinkly lights for my 20 ft. by 20 ft. patio cover, around the outer edges, this would require using the 80 ft. set and running the strands in opposite directions, from the controller/plug-in to come together at the ends of the strands. Once you have the twinkly app downloaded you have more options than you can imagine with setting the lighting, hard to explain all the lighting possibilities. You can change the dots, colors, intensity, patterns, etc. There are a lot of pre-set patterns to choose from or you can create your own once lighting effects. You can “map” the lighting arrangements, with the app, on your mobile device, once you have them in place. I didn’t find this an easy task to complete when attempting to map the strands on top of the cabinets, it took quite a few attempts to map my layout. Once you achieve a mapping you can manipulate the lights to function in multiple ways. Having the ability to manipulate every dot individually is an amazing feat. There are some contradictions in the writing regarding these lights. I have seen for indoor use only, for indoor/outdoor use. Not sure why there are concerns regarding live Christmas tree use. I have had these lights/dots on for hours with absolutely no heat whatsoever. The plug and the controller have a little warmth too them as does most items of this type. Setting up twinkly with an Alex device was quick and simple. You can manipulate some of the actions, such as on and off, and the color of the twinkly lights with the use of Alex. Controlling the twinkly lights with Alex appears to be very limited. I would recommend the twinkly Generation II dots just for the twinkly app and the ability to control the lighting in so many unique ways. You must remember that the lighting is powered and controlled from the center of the total strand length stated, this will limit where and how you can utilize them.

It’s hard to define what Twinkly - Dots 200 RGB LED is for with few words and this is awesome. I have some led color lights in different parts of my house: for ambiance, for color or just to change with a single bottom the full sense of decoration during a party. Twinkly is all of that plus a huge number of additional possibilities thanks to the interaction with the app. In fact, the controls of the LEDs with the app bring a world of possibilities other than the traditional change of colors from the app. Let’s start by downloading the app and connecting with the house wireless the led controls and the app. This is a quick process that takes no time. From that moment forward after creating your account, the phone is your control of the LEDs and this includes all functions coming to a device connected to the web but also some basics such as a timer. What is new and my favorite is that the app can scan and map, with the camera of your phone, the distribution of your leds. Once this is done, the effects of the lights can be applied to your design giving a full world of graphics and styles. Just change the lights’ placement and the game starts again. I feel like this will be a great way of surprising visitors and coloring parties with super simple tools. Finally, with only a few days of use, I still think that the fun just started. The app opens the door to play to create effects, combining the presets or just drawing them with a single use of your finger. I love it and like in all new technology, I appreciate the possibilities that a learning curve could bring. Strongly recommend coloring your house.
