I am hooked on these lights. Very expensive but absolutely worth it. The app is amazing. So many options. Ill never get tired of these lights.

These Twinkly LED strip lights are easy to set up and fun to use. Right now I am using them as ambient lighting for my television, but will likely experiment with moving around the house for different applications. These lights can be controlled at the basic level with the included controller unit, but I recommend downloading and using the Twinkly App. The App unlocks a multitude of features and controls that the manual controller can not. With the controller you can basically just cycle through the preset light modes. The Twinkly App provides an amazing level of control and customization for the lights. There are several different presets to select from, as well as many different effects available in the Twinkly App Effects Store available to download. There is also an option to create a playlist of effects, and even a carousel command that cycles through them all. The App amazingly allows each individual LED (all 99 of them) to be individually programmed to any color in the RGB spectrum. This is a very impressive feature that people who appreciate tinkering will enjoy. The potential for effects is nearly infinite because each LED light can be programmed anywhere within the color wheel. The setup was very straightforward. Just plug it in to get started and use the manual controller to cycle through the lights. Once you have the Twinkly App downloaded, pairing is very simple. Creating an account is required to proceed, but I was able to use my Apple ID to do that. Facebook was also an option to create an account. It uses Bluetooth to start the pairing. Place the device in pairing mode by holding the button on the controller down until the indicator light changes color, and then use the App to find the device, pair it, and join your wireless network. The App controls the device via Wi-Fi. I did not use the adhesives on the back of the strip because I want to be able to easily move it around my home. I am very much enjoying the Twinkly LED light strip. It is purely for fun and entertainment, and for that it serves its purpose extremely well. I am looking forward to using them in the future in various places around my home. The potential applications are nearly limitless!

I’m a tech and lighting dork. I’ve been designing lighting solutions and fixtures for quite some time. The relative inexpensiveness to fun and effectiveness of LED lighting has made it so much fun. Anyone can do some useful and creative things in their home with color-changing LED bulbs and light strips. The key thing is that is has to be simple to set-up and customize. So…Twinkly. Lovely packaging and opening experience. I really like the black plastic and rubber components because you want that to disappear in your install. The instructions need to be improved. I first went through the maddening process of connecting the system to WiFi…on 2.4 Ghz only (?!). Same process I used for a competitor nearly a decade ago. Most people would punt. I’m relentless. So I got that to work. I’ll finish my disappointment - there are many, many ways to customize the colors and patterns - but I couldn’t figure out most in the first week. Again- the average consumer will give up. Now the positives- there ARE many, many pre-programmed options for time and color (beautiful colors by the way). There are pulsing, crawling and other effects. Awesome. The ability to customize patterns by swiping over an image of the led strip, cool. I will keep working on learning the capabilities. I also like the end-to-end expansion capabilities- simple with a few integral pins on one end and receptors on the other. Just plug one strip to another. If they can improve the instruction manual, I think this would be a really fantastic product.

The Twinkly Smart Light Strip is fun, we put these in my teen's room and I was impressed with the amount of versatile functionality available via the app. In the box is the power cord, wired control box, and 5' light strip. Setup is to lay or adhere the light strip where you want it, install app, and turn on. I was happy that I could lay the lights flat without having to use adhesive, allowing my teen to move them any time she wanted a change. These lights are bright and crisp, however the impressive features come via the settings in the app. The app allows you to pick colors, patterns and blend them together into hundreds of different light show combinations. There is also the functionality to have the lights sync with sound, control brightness, and set on/off timer. I didn't have any issues installing the Twinkly app or pairing the lights with Alexa for hands free controlling (on/off and brightness). The only reason for 4 stars versus 5, is my daughter wanted to run a long line around the border of the room, and it seems that you can only directly connect the starter kit to one 5' extension for a total of 10'. I'm hoping there are future updates that allow for longer, continuous, light strings.

I first saw a product similar to this last May in an Airbnb cabin we rented in the Smokies. The cabin's owner had assembled the light strips in every edge of the bedroom and along multiple surfaces on the cabin deck. The display created a breathtaking party atmosphere, and I knew I would eventually want to acquire LED strips myself. I was therefore very excited to see the Twinkly Smart Light-Strips available from Best Buy, especially because the price was much lower than the light strips I discovered in the cabin. The Twinkly Smart Light-Strip was even better than I expected, based on my memory of the cabin display. The WiFi connection was super-easy to install, and I programmed my light strip into action in just a few minutes. The phone app for the Twinkly has an unbelievable number of color and pattern effects, and if they are not enough for you, you can even edit them and create your own. Just a couple of observations to keep your expectations realistic. What I acquired is the starter kit, with the wireless connection device and one five-foot strip of 99 LED lights. Five feet is not long, so if you want to do extensive lighting you will have to purchase additional strips that plug easily into your first strip. Next, although there is a "pulsing" effect, it is not set to synchronize with music. For that you will have to purchase a separate Twinkly Music device, which is not expensive. Finally, you may have to figure out some things yourselves. The Twinkly project originated in Italy and is marketed internationally, so each instruction page in the manual contains a few sentences in 14 different languages. The instructions are a good place to start, but you may want to visit the Twinkly website for more detailed information. Also, in alignment with Twinkly's international effort, the power supply for the wireless device has a generic socket into which you must insert the supplied power plug for your country. It took me several tries twisting the plug in firmly until it clicked into place. Once I clicked the plug into place, the power supply was solid. Twinkly interfaces with Amazon Alexa and other voice command services. I tried Alexa and it worked perfectly, although the commands are limited to turning the lights on and off and controlling the brightness. It would have been nice to be able to choose an effect by voice, although I am satisfied with the current functionality.

I have the Twinkly Smart Light Strip, I have had it about a week and I am really enjoying it, even if I have barely scratched the surface of what it can do. It has a companion app that has about 25 preset light effects which is more than enough to play with. You can even edit the preset effects to make it your own, change the color, change the speed. You can create your own light effects, start with a basic pattern and make it your own. The app also turns the Twinkly lights off and on. It has a magnetic back, but also comes with an adhesive strip on it. You can add multiple light strings together to create a massive light show. There are a couple of add-ons that are sold separately that I will probably end up buying to go with my light kit. The first one will be Twinkly Music which will let your lights follow the beat of the music you are listening to. You can also use your lights with Google, Amazon and Apple home kit. These are great lights that will fill up your room with color. I need to figure out how to use them for backlighting my tv.

Overall I really do like the lights. We placed them in the middle portion (Shelving area) of our entertainment center and it looks amazing. There are two reasons why they are not receiving a five-star rating. One, the stickiness of the adhesive is horrible. Not only did I clean the surface, and then place the light strip on the clean surface and hold it in place for several seconds, and the light strip just fell as if the adhesive was not even on there, the second reason is that it took a lot longer than normal for it to set up with my Twinkly App. Overall they look good and once you're able to get them set up they work very well, just had two flaws.

Easy to setup and place. I use them to wake me up in the morning without an alarm and I love it! I wish the app had more functionality and personalization with timing. Other products allow you to select multiple times to turn on/off, and this only gives you the one.

I wanted an LED strip to mount on the back of my living room TV for backlighting and atmosphere like I have on a bedroom TV. I got the TWINKLY Generation II RGB line starter kit. Has lots of options and programs for fun lighting. Box says 5 feet but specs say 4.9 feet. Line is close to 5 so it should fit on the back of my 65-inch TV. Unfortunately, it does not plug in to a USB port on the TV like my other LED string to turn On and Off with the TV. Just getting the parts out of the box was a challenge, they are packed very securely for their ride over from China. I ended up just ripping some of the tabs open to get parts out. There are two adhesive cable clips with slots and two very short Velcro cord organizers. I'm always thrilled to get an actual Quick Start or Set Up Manual but the enclosed manual has the tiniest font ever and I can't read it without the magnifying glass app on my iPhone! It boasts 14 languages! Drawings are very basic for assembly and setup. The Twinkly website is detailed but isn't much help and this model didn't seem to have an online manual. You have to assemble (yes, assemble) the power adapter by inserting the plug into the adapter and twisting until it locks into place but at least it can insert into an electric outlet upside down since the prongs are equal size and not polarized. It's a chunky plug and I don't have any room left for a fat plug in my power strip so I tried placing the LED strip in various places with an available outlet for indoor use. Plus, it mentions possible interference with some electronics. Something that has not been mentioned in the other reviews is that the line is magnetic so I could place it on the side of my refrigerator if I wanted to. I tried it but it just seemed out of place. I placed it on the mantle above my fireplace for now but did not peel off the adhesive backing to stick it in place until I decide if this is where I plan to keep it. The three prong line plugs into the controller connector (rounded edge lets you know which way to insert) then inserts into the power adapter that then plugs into a power source. The green light on the controller flashes endlessly when not connected to WiFi but I just pushed the controller button to try random programs. After you install the Twinkly app on your iPhone you have to create an account with your email address and a password then you can connect to your old 2.4 Ghz WiFi by holding down the controller button until it turns to blue from green then once detected you will log in to your internet and check for firmware updates as you work through the setup. Bluetooth connection is another option. It does ask if you are connecting a 99 light (the product name says 100) or 150 and what generation (mine said Generation II on the cover of the manual otherwise I would not know). Lots of options inside the app like Power button to manually turn on and off (it stays on 24/7 unless you unplug it), a timer to turn on and off at specific times, brightness control, colors and effects, preprogrammed effects to select like Rainbow, Bright Twinkle, Carnival and more. You can also create your own effect using the FX Wizard. You can Map the Lights using the camera from your phone but I was unable to get this to work. This is much more elaborate than I was expecting but I guess that explains the high price for such a short LED line. I found the assembly and setup really frustrating but did not have the connectivity issues that others mentioned. The iPhone app setup worked well for me once I realized how to make the controller light turn blue then connect the detected device to WiFi. You don't really need to use the Twinkly app or Wi-Fi, if you just want to use the line and the random schemes and unplug the adapter to turn on and off. I did this when I was testing out placement and let the lights run for 24 hours. LED doesn't get warm and neither did the power plug. Works with Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Hey Google and more.

I love twinkly and was expecting the excellent quality that their strings and dots provide. This just isn't it. The adhesive is not very strong, found myself resetting it quite a bit, the hookup is kinda intimidating with the exposed prongs, and lastly the light is shockingly dim. Its fine as an add on to an existing setup but not strong enough to stand on its own.

Great way to add color and compliment a furniture piece such as we did to a shelving unit we use as an open bar. It highlights our bar ware and bar accessories.

These lights are great! Give a solid LED look without all the gaps like other leds! Would definitely recommend.

THIS HAS A MAX LENGTH OF 10FT. 1 starter kit and 1 extender. I wish I could have plugged in multiple extenders to a $100 product but I guess I am asking for too much for what I'm spending.

My son loves this, and now wants to purchase tiles and extensions. The price was excellent on Best Buy deal of the day!

Light strip is ok, but could be quite a bit brighter. Great accent lighting.
