Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the keyboard quality, ease of use, and lightweight design of the Type Cover for Microsoft Surface 3. Many appreciate its protective qualities and how well it fits the device. A common concern, however, is the relatively high price point. Some users also note that the material may be prone to staining or wear over time.

    Very Good Keyboard

    1. The Surface 3 keyboard is fine for the two fingered typing I normally perform. 2. I am concerned regarding the material suede surface of the keyboard. It appears susceptible to wear and staining. A less absorbing material would have been preferred. 3. The key stroke is good with enough travel to be comfortable. 4. I miss the right and left mouse buttons usually available on a laptop for selecting multiple files. 5. Being lighted is great for low light working.

Great keyboard....its compact as in thin but dont let this keyboard fool you, the saying bigger is always better is not the case here. Yes it may be smaller then your desktop keyboard but its very thin almost paper thin, therefore fits right in your laptop bag or tablet case right along side your surface. It also can fit all your keyboard needs and wants. So you get the wonderful option of transforming your surface from a stellar tablet into a sleek sophisticated laptop, with the gurth of a desktop. Ladies and gentlemen it gets no greater then that. Only thing left now is for you to accessorize. We cant live without all the new techy gizmos and gadets now can we???

This is a full QWERTY keyboard (no number pad) for a Surface 3 - NOT THE PRO3! This fits exactly the dimensions of the new Surface 3, and does not add significantly to the bulk. The keyboard attaches to the Surface magnetically - and I was a little surprised just how strong that magnetic catch was when I first received it. I jumped (just a little) when it clicked into place. It is quite easy to removed, but it will not fall off. Removal is a deliberate action. If you want/have the pen (separate purchase), be aware that there is no where on the tablet or the keyboard to attach it. The pen comes with a loop that has adhesive you can attach to the Surface or this keyboard if you wish. I actually attached my pen loop to the 'fuzzy' side of the keyboard, and it has (so far) adhered quite well. This does NOT have any thing to hold it closed as a cover. The keyboard stays attached, but it will not latch or otherwise lock into place as a type of protective cover to the screen of the Surface. Not a problem for me, but I was hazy on that action until I saw it. ONLY down side (not worth downrating) typing is not noiseless. I use this in class to take notes, and the sound of typing is somewhat distinctive. Not completely unexpected, but it's worth noting.

I bought this as a way to protect my Surface 3 from scratches, and I love it. It connects easily and fast. It is light weight and has a smooth touch when typing on it. I recommend this for anyone with a Surface 3 and wanting a type cover for a a very reasonable price.

This keyboard is great. It covers the tablet completely and has backlit keys which I did not expect. It snaps in place and detaches easily. Only gripe would be the price. But I waited until there was a sale with a free keyboard.

This enhance the Surface 3's experience so much. It makes it like using a laptop, and is amazing. It's a little pricy, sure, but the ease of use of this keyboard and how well it works with the surface is amazing.

not much to say. Love this keyboard. Has the touch/feel of a good keyboard. Easy pop-on, pop-off to the Surface 3 tablet I purchase it for. Doesn't add any weight to the tablet. Use it daily and no issues.

The keyboard is a necessity for Surface 3. Makes this Tablet feel like a PC. Much easier to use than the tablet keyboard. Full keyboard adds very little weight to the Surface 3. I's great.

I didn't know if I would like the keyboard. Granted it's not as stable as a laptop when attached to the Surface 3, but it is quite usable. I find it comfortable for use in the lap as well on the desk. The keys feel good, even better than my Dell laptop. It's light and doesn't add much to the overall weight of the Surface 3. It is small, but I find I can touch type on it just fine. In some cases, even faster than a regular keyboard. My only complaint is that you have to hold the function key to activate the function keys. But for me that's a minor issue.

I recently upgraded from an ASUS T100 2-in-1 to the Surface 3. I waited for Christmas so my wife would have a gift for me in the Surface 3 Type keyboard - so I used the Surface 3 solely as a tablet from Thanksgiving until Christmas. I do a lot of writing and I'm a touch typist. I previously owned the Surface RT with the Touch keyboard accessory. That keyboard had a big impact on my typing speed and accuracy. The ASUS T100 keyboard was also less ideal, with a non-standard layout, and small, but at least mechanical keys. The Type keyboard is far better than either of those. Despite not being much thicker than the original Surface Type keyboard - the Surface 3 Type keyboard has mechanical keys with surprisingly satisfying play and feedback. Despite being somewhat cramped, my typing speed is nearly full speed and I make very few errors. In addition, the function keys allow you to control the brightness of the backlit keys - which are a really nice touch for a keyboard this thin and small. Honestly, I very rarely use the keyboard in a low light condition. I keep the light turned off to conserve battery life on the Surface - but if you're in low light, like a plane cabin, a feature like this is indispensable. Other keys allow you to control media, turning volume up or down or hitting pause or play, even with the device locked. Finally, the entire keyboard doubles as a very thin case protecting the screen from scratches or cracks. People complain about the steep price of this keyboard compared to the price of the Surface 3 - and I agree, it is expensive. But it delivers a lot of value for that extra money. Occasionally my Surface won't see the keyboard. Disconnecting it and snapping it back in fixes that. The keyboard is magnetic, and snaps right into the socket, just like in the old commercials - but the magnet also allows you to fold the keyboard up to put the keys at a slight incline/angle, instead of laying flat. This is a huge improvement over the original design. Along with the kickstand on the Surface, I have little problem typing with the device on my laptop or while in bed. A lot of people will complain about this - but it seems as easy to use in this situation as any traditional laptop, to me. Microsoft really nailed the Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 and their accessories.

    Necessary Addition to Surface 3

The Type Cover for the Surface 3 is a necessity for people purchasing a Surface 3. Sure, you can get by without the Type Cover, but you will not receive the true Surface 3 experience without it. It easily detaches when not in use (or you can fold it behind the tablet which temporarily locks the keys so there is no unwanted typing). When you want to do more traditional school/job work, just snap the keyboard back on and type away. This is the best keyboard experience for tablets I have had to date (including Apple/Logitech keyboards for tablets).

    Red Hot Keyboard

What I love about the Surface Keyboard is you don't have to charge it separately and I picked the red one because it's hot, like me (lol). Well anyway I'm a redhead and I thought it would be a little spicier than the usual black. The keyboard is light and stays magnetized to the Surface Pro so I don't have to worry about looking for it and it lights up at night. It functions almost the same as a full keyboard and the keys and mousepad work great so you don't need a heavy hand. The product is well made and I am very happy with it.
