Sound is great when it works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Two different devices both had trouble maintaining a Bluetooth connection. It would last about 5 minutes and disconnect. Not sure if this particular unit was defective or not but I returned it. When it was connected the sound was great and able to get loud. Alexa was more of an afterthought and its integration was something to be desired.

Horrible Garbage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t waste your fine with this. I fully charged mine up and within 20 minutes the battery went from full to 60%. It also wouldn’t stay connected to my iPad 6th Generation. It kept disconnecting and wouldn’t stay connected. There are much better speakers than this.

just another speaker
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.could never update the speaker and the battery life does not last long. Sometimes it even dies as it has been off for a couple days the battery drains easily. Cant connect it to alexa because it wont connect to the internet to update or do anything else with it. dissapointed... maybe that is why it was on sale.

Terrible piece of crap
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an engineer and very familiar with electronics, technology, etc. Setup is a nightmare. Mine won't connect to WIFI. Instructions are horrendous. Factory resetting the device is almost impossible. Online support? Good luck with that. Can't wait to return it!

Not much of a Blast.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, the idea of an Ultimate Ears speaker with Alexa sounds like an excellent combination. I was excited. First let me talk about the speakers build quality. It look quality built and premium. I like the soft rubberized parts to it and the speaker grill which is made up of some fabric material instead of the usual metal is nice looking and pretty unique. The sound is great, has good bass and can get really loud! It comes with a usb charging cable and a wall plug. It is also waterproof. Set up was a breeze just linked it up to my amazon account, wifi and bluetooth. Now here's the issue i have, it's with Alexa and the bluetooth connectivity. When i ask alexa to do something i notice it disconnects from bluetooth. So, when i ask her to play a station from pandora it will disconnect from bluetooth and play from my phone. So i go into the UE app and it say bluetooth disconnected. Check settings in my phone and it is disconnected. I tried this about 10 times and kept getting the same result. When I reconnect and just play music from my phone manually it plays through the blast speaker no problem and does not lose bluetooth but who want to do it that way when you have Alexa integrated into the speaker. So i believe each time i ask Alexa a command it disconnects me from bluetooth prompting my to reconnect each time. Maybe they can fix this with an update. That is my biggest gripe with the speaker. Sound great, looks good but Alexa and bluetooth connectivity not good.

Great Improvement on The UE Line of BT Speakers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The UE Blast is another water proof bluetooth speaker in a great line of portable devices with great battery life. It has the looks of it's UE Boom bretheren though a bit taller and heavier. That extra heft likely comes from the extra hardware to do voice recognition and processing for Alexa, the wifi module for it to connect independently to your home network, and extra battery to support all of that while maintaining the same long battery life of the UE line. As far as reviews go, this one is pretty simple. The Blast has the same good looks as previous UE speakers. It has great sound, bluetooth range, and battery life. Setup was a breeze. After initial discovery of the speakers, you configure its wifi connection, then give it your Amazon account credentials. From there, you're off and running. It's always listening for "Alexa" so you can be anywhere in the room to give commands, no need to hit a button on the speaker. You can either stream music through Alexa or via a bluetooth connection to your phone. One thing to know, Alexa only has access to media that has been attached to your Amazon account. So, if you haven't already added your phone as an "Alexa" device, you'll need to use the existing apps on your phone to select and play your media. Aside from the micro USB charging port on the bottom of the speaker, it has the usual UE power and bluetooth pairing buttons on top, and volume control buttons on the face. An interesting feature, which I couldn't test, but discovered reading the manual is that the Blast can be charged wirelessly with an appropriate accessory! That is a welcome improvement over my existing UEs, which I need to either sit upside down or awkwardly tether to a wall if I'll be playing music for longer than 8 hours at a stretch.

Great Speaker with Waterproofing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lets get to what you want. The sound is great and can carry. It can definitely boom. With IP67 Waterproofing you can keep it out at the swim party or sing in your shower, I won't judge. This thing just rocks. It sounds good and can definitely rock a space. If you are in the Amazon ecosystem it is definitely for you with the Alexa integration it takes this speaker to the next level. Nothing like saying Alexa and your favorite band and let it stream it via your home wi-fi. Just rock out if you have an amazon unlimited plan or use Alexa to play your audible book without needing a phone or another device to stream to it. Obviously this has Bluetooth so it can do that too. Setup: If you have an Android 5.0 or a recent iOS device then you are good to go. If you have only a PC or Mac kinda of out of luck in the setup. Would have been nice to have an app in the Windows 10 Store or Mac Store too, incase you don't have a smartphone handy. App works well and was more of the painless setup/tie into Alexa rename apps I've used. So not too bad if you have a feel for this stuff. Only downside is Bluetooth seemed flaky with my Gen1 Pixel phone, esp. when I used Wi-Fi. Not sure if that was the phone or device where it would go one or the other. Overall though getting it connected and updated wasn't a hassle. Use: Using it, if you have Amazon Music Unlimited (which the speaker comes with 3 months free of the family plan) then its as simple as saying Alexa play song or band. Very handy. No device just music. Though streaming via Wi-Fi in my house would pause/lose wi-fi. Unsure if the device is weak or if my router (a modern AC 3200)/Internet was the issue. I had a few cutout in listening to music. I do recommend if you have kids or listen to podcasts with Alexa to install the App on your phone and turn off purchasing. First thing I did, otherwise I'd have over 150 bottles of shampoo delivered right now. You can set a voice code, but I don't trust my kids, so I disabled it. I'd recommend you do too. Easier to just have it added to your cart, review the choices and then click purchase. But everyone if different. Seems to have to whole Alexa voice control. So whatever Alexa can do, this speaker can be used to do it. It is a nice addition. If you are in the Amazon Ecosystem then this is definitely a speaker for you as it has great sound. From soft to rocking out that the police are called. Only gripe is flaky wi-fi at times. But you can still directly stream via a phone and still use alexa to control the sound. I think Logitiech got it right with this device. Sound is top-notch and the additional AI voice control gives it a bonus over other 360 degree speakers. If you want to rock the holiday season this is definitely a contender for a party worthy of being reported to the police by.

Great 2-in-1 device with Alexa
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to admit that I've held off on getting an Alexa device as I use Siri for most of my voice search and smart assistant needs. When I came across the Ultimate Ears BLAST I was able to combine a new wireless speaker to my house along with Alexa. I've been impressed with the sound quality of the speaker. It connected seamlessly to my home network. Activating Alexa was also easy after I downloaded the Alexa app. This speaker is very portable and it's waterproof which is a great feature when you take it outside. As for Alexa - there are some things that are better than Siri, but others are not.

Ok
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound was ok, but battery died soo fast. It barely lasted two hours and it would die. And if you wanted to use Alexa you had to be connected to WiFi 24/7. Don’t get it if you don’t have unlimited. I do now but not back when I had it.

Some connectivity issues
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ultimate Ears - BLAST speaker is a great portable speaker with great quality sound. One thing that I have noticed from using it on a daily bases is that the speaker has had connectivity issues. On the day that I got, I went through all of the steps to get the speaker connected (downloaded the app). Once I completed the process, I tried to listen to music, but received a message informing me that the speaker was not connected. I went back to the app and tried to connect it manually again. I restarted the speaker and finally got it to work. Through continuous use, I have still been having some connectivity issues with the speaker. Once connected, the speaker sound is great. It provides hours of music entertainment, and best of all, Alexa is now included! I am a Prime subscriber, so this is a big plus for me. It is pretty lightweight, and even has a clip provision. Overall, the Ultimate Ears - BLAST speaker has amazing sound quality. The reason for the three start rating is the connectivity issues that I have been experiencing almost every day since I got it. Not sure what the issue is there, but hopefully it will be resolved.
