Logitech, well-known for its ultra-reliable computer peripherals like mice and keyboards, has a superb portfolio of audio and video equipment subsidiaries. Among these is Ultimate Ears which started as a supplier of custom in-ear monitors for Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, Faith Hill and other famous professional musicians. In the past three years Ultimate Ears has created a new line of wireless/Bluetooth speakers. The latest of these are the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 and MegaBoom 3 wireless portable Bluetooth speakers. This review will focus on the Boom 3 speaker, a surprisingly powerful unit with very nice sound quality and some great bonus features. After extensive testing of the Boom 3 speaker in a wide variety of applications my conclusion is that this very compact unit has a superb combination of features, power and sound quality which surpass the vast majority of its competitors in its price range. First, consider that the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 is packed with a great set of features and specifications: • Spatial 360 degree stereophonic sound radiation • Maximum sound level 90 dBA (VERY LOUD!) • Frequency range: 90 Hz to 20,000 Hz • Two 38mm drivers, Two 40mm x 80mm passive radiators • Amplifier provides 10 watts of power for each speaker (at 4 ohms) • It is very compact, 7.2” tall, 2.9” diameter • Weight: 1 pound, 5 ounces and feels very solidly built • Shock-resistant: Survives 4 foot drop test • IP67 certified water proof in fresh or salt water to 3 foot depth for 30 minutes and it floats! • Dust proof and tight-weave on fabric exterior is very easy to clean • Total Harmonic Distortion of just 1% • Bluetooth connectivity with up to 150 foot range • Power supply: lithium ion battery, micro USB recharge cable included • Battery life up to 15 hours (6 hours at maximum volume level), recharge time 2.75 hours • Supports wireless charging with optional Power Up stand • Ultimate Ears app may be used to control all speaker functions • Two year limited warranty The Boom 3 comes very nicely packaged in a slip cover and beautiful storage box wrapped in great artwork. Included is an elegantly simple illustrated getting started brochure, the usual safety warnings (Don’t smack yourself in the head with it! Don’t try to swallow it! Blah, blah, blah …), and one of the nicest micro-USB cables you are likely to find. There is also a link to the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 app. Most electronic devices today offer phone apps and most of those apps are a waste of your phone’s memory and screen space. But the Ultimate Ears app is one that you will want to download. It gives access to a nice equalizer, “PartyUp” – a way to connect up to 150 Boom 3 speakers in a daisy chain to really add sound to your party, “Block Party – a means to allow multiple phones to link into your speaker so that each can play their own music, one touch access to your own playlists, a full owner’s manual and FAQ. Lots of good stuff and all of it very well explained. The Boom 3 speaker is very solid and quite attractive. It can survive the usual rough handling that portable speakers have to endure. The IP67 rating means you can submerge it in 3 feet of water for 30 minutes without problems and it is essentially dust proof. It will float if you knock it into the pool or toss it in the lake. And the tight weave on the iridescent fabric makes it very easy to clean. The USB charging port is carefully sealed behind a block of rubber at the back. You can attach the charging cable and it will be unobtrusive while you use the speaker or you can buy the optional wireless charging dock. But the long battery life (15 hours) means that you won’t be recharging very often. The controls are very simple. The top has on/off and Bluetooth connecting pressure switches, positioned on either side of the “Magic Button” which controls play, pause, skip and access to playlists. My favorite controls, however, are the great big volume controls on the front. You won’t fumble around looking for the up/down volume controls because they are a bigger-than-life plus and minus sign. Very cool. There is also a little loop tab at the back of the top which can be used to hang the speaker or secure it with a carabiner. The Bluetooth connection was effortless and solid from every device I tried (phone, tablet, laptop). It held the connection steady up to about 90 feet from my music source. The claim of 150 feet for Bluetooth connection range is optimistic unless you have an absolutely clear line of sight between source and speaker. But realistically, when would you ever need that kind of range? One nice bonus feature is the ability to connect a chain of up to 150 Boom 3 or MegaBoom 3 speakers which can extend your music throughout a large home or provide multiple sound sources in the same room. If you add just one speaker they function as traditional left/right stereo speakers. OK, so that’s the basics, but the big question is, how does it sound? In a word – awesome! My ultimate test for a speaker is to play a complex jazz classic on it and compare that sound to the very expensive reference speakers on my old school, top-of-the-line stereo system. For the Boom 3 test I chose the album, “Kind of Blue” by Miles Davis, perhaps the greatest jazz recording of all time. It features the Hall-of-Fame legends, Miles on trumpet, John Coltrane on tenor sax, Bill Evans on piano, Cannonball Adderly on alto sax, Paul Chambers on bass, Jimmy Cobb on drums – a dream team before anyone ever thought up the term, playing some of the most important jazz compositions ever created. With this amazing music the Boom 3 showed me what it can really do. The Miles trumpet solos were clean and bright, I could literally feel the bass strumming and drum solos as though they were right in front of me, the piano riffs were perfect and the brilliance of Cannonball and Trane was undiminished. The Boom 3 transported me back to that historic 1959 recording date. If I walked into my study and turned on my five figure stereo system to the same music I might be able to isolate some minor differences from the reproduction achieved by the Boom 3. But considering the cost differential, I could buy four Boom 3 speakers to play this music simultaneously for perhaps 5% of the cost of my main system. And if I did that I am not sure that I would be able to consistently tell the difference even in pieces like “Kind of Blue” for which I know every note. I really cannot give this wonderful Boom 3 speaker a higher compliment than that. Compared to the alternatives available I believe that the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 Bluetooth speaker is one of the best values on the market. It has my whole-hearted and enthusiastic recommendation!

Open the smartly designed box and you find one approximately 3” x 7” cylinder speaker, a flat white 4’ micro-USB cable, and a quick start guide. There is no AC USB Adapter. The battery in the unit was dead, but it only took about 2.5 hours to fully charge with a 3 AMP USB charger. Lower amp chargers (.5 -2 AMP) will need more time. Hold both the + and – volume buttons together a few seconds and the unit will verbally tell the percentage of power remaining. Or check it in the app. It automatically shuts off after 15 minutes of no activity. A quick press of the power button turns it on as does a long press of the Magic Button. Holding the Bluetooth button puts it into Pair mode. Look for BOOM 3 in your Bluetooth devices to pair. Easy enough, no surprises here. I checked and found a Firmware update in the App. Click the update button and a minute later you’re ready to go. Easy. The unit starts and powers off with a swish and a tribal drum roll sound effect. This can be turned off in the app. On the top there are two small buttons off center. A Power button with LED, so you know it’s on. And the Bluetooth button, whose LED goes out once you are connected. My first use was a continuous 16 hours and 8 minutes of streaming Pandora Plus from my iPhone which I left in the house while working outside in the yard. Over an hour better than the 15 hours listed. Bluetooth was solid with up to 80’ and a wall between the BOOM 3 and my phone. The sound coming out of such a small package is very rich and clean at all volume levels. It’s as if it has some magic reserve that exceeds its physical size. It can play LOUDLY, advertised up to 90db, yet clearly. It does not sound strained or flatten out like others; there is still a good range to be had even when maxed out. With a decent bit rate on your source, it will sound awesome. In the center is the ‘Magic Button’. which will pause and play the song with a single click. A double press will skip to the next track. A long press will skip playlists, but only in Apple Music and Deezer Premium. Hopefully more apps will be added in the future. Please? The Magic Button worked well with Apple Music, Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, and Google Play. The Amazon Music app however, it would not resume play after a pause. I had to go back to the app. It would skip to the next song in the playlist but would not play. Maybe next update… The Magic button is a welcome feature. No need to mess with the source and this speaker is waterproof and it floats! Great for a pool party. Keep the phone inside safe and dry. Dustproof? Oh yeah! I used this while doing yard work and kicked up LOTS of dust. It looked bad! When I power washed my house later, I gave it a few quick and lights blasts. Clean as new as new and it never missed a beat. The BOOM 3 allows up to 4 devices to pair. You can alternate who plays DJ with this and not need to re-pair after someone else. Very nice! The free app for iOS is good but it could be great with just a bit of attention. It has a 5 band EQ to get the sound just right for your music and setting. There are some presets; Standard (flat), Cramped Spaces, Voices, Bass Jump, and Custom. The range of adjustment is +/- 15. The bass is already prevalent and cannot be bumped up before the sound is mired in bass. You can only change the Custom profile. If you try to change one of the other presets, those settings overwrite your custom setting with no warning. Unfortunately, you cannot save EQ settings beyond the one custom. Hopefully this comes in an update. The EQ setting for different spaces; outside, my garage, living room and shower are very different as they are for different type of music. Using the app, you can power it on/off, set the volume, set the language (English, French, Spanish, and German), find the serial number for registration. The PartyUp setting allow you to connect to 150 BOOM speakers to play together, even older Boom and MEGABOOM models can be added. Music throughout the home or yard for any occasion. You can control whether others can connect to your BOOM 3 or not in the app. The default is to allow inclusion. It’s strictly Bluetooth for music input. There is no mini-DIN aux port as some others have. Maybe because its waterproof? There is a waterproof mini-USB port covered by a rubber plug to keep out dust. The power plug is on the back near the bottom, so you can leave it discreetly plugged in most the time if you’d like, even while using it. There is a very sturdy fabric loop on the back near the top so you can hang it with carabiner, bungie cord, or even rope. There is no microphone and it will not do phone calls. The speaker hardware is great, near indestructible and has a 2 year warranty. I’ve checked out several this year and this is my current top pick. The app is solid, works well, but basic. It could be great with some savable EQ profiles and play list support. It’s a short want list, which is a sign of a mature top tier product worthy of consideration on a short list. It’s not quite 5 stars, but much better than 4 stars.

The Ultimate Ears Boom 3 is a very nice 360 surround sound speaker. It has incredible sound for such a small package. You may be familiar with the WonderBoom or Boom 2 which are other portable, waterproof, Bluetooth 360 surround sound speakers – all from Ultimate Ears. I have them all so I could compare the earlier products with the new Boom 3. The sound from each is excellent but I did feel the bass was better on the Boom 3. The footprint for the Boom 3 is also better in that it has a smaller diameter but is taller and for me that made it fit better on the real estate of my computer desk. Pricing for the earlier WonderBoom is about 1/3 the cost of the newer unit so that may be a factor for you. However, Ultimate Ears people were listening to feedback on the earlier products and made quite a few changes that may be useful to review. Be aware that there is a complete lineup of Ultimate Ears products now, so you can up your game with even more robust units than the excellent Boom 3. The Boom 3 does come with two 2” drivers and two 2” x 4” passive radiators – this is where the 360 sound technology comes from – marvelous. The Boom 3 has a more attractive and durable finish, in my view, than the Wonderboom or the Boom 2. The new Boom 3 also has a so-called Magic Button to play, pause and skip and you can use this button to run playlists from your cell phone without touching your phone – nice. The Boom 3 has an optional charging disc that you can stand the Boom 3 on and charge without wires. This is especially nice since many folks will want to toss this unit in the pool, and the less messing with the waterproof cover over the USB charging port the better. However, it’s pretty costly and you may want to wait for a better price point on it before you pick one up. You can always charge using the included USB cable which is what I’m doing. Here’s an interesting point, the WonderBoom and the Boom 3 will float, but the Boom 2 will not. So that’s a big improvement since you don’t want the unit to sink beyond its approximately 3-foot water resistance. The Boom 3 is also dust proof which the others are not, so you can toss it in the sand on the beach for example – very nice feature. Bluetooth range is 50% better on the Boom 3 (about 150 feet) which I found nice when walking around my basement workshop paired with my cell phone. I also paired it with a desktop and a Sling AirTV unit – no pairing problems at all. These units are drop tested to ensure they are rugged and that is a very important fact since the units are meant to be portable and used without a worry that a drop on the ground will harm them. There is an android app for the Boom 3 which is pretty much a must if you pair it with your phone. It gives you an equalizer and abilities like combining two or even up to 150 Boom 3’s. You can party-up’ Boom 3’s with any of the Ultimate Ears’ line-up including Boom 2 or MegaBooms. However you can’t ‘party-up’ the Boom 3 with the older WonderBoom. You can update the Boom 3 firmware which is not an option on the WonderBoom. It has a very strong hang loop and this is a definite requirement. The 15 hours battery life with lithium-ion batteries is great and tested out. It does take almost 3 hours to charge up. You can choose it in red, black, blue or violet. If you get more than one, it might be nice to have different colors. If you are still putting up with the old PC speakers, they are now very old sound technology. This Boom 3 has sound so much more vibrant and so convenient with Bluetooth that it’s really nice if you can move up to these types of units. In addition, the ‘party-up’ type function and the ability to drop it in water or sand make its versatility hard to beat. I do highly recommend this unit as the best I’ve tested at this price point for a small Bluetooth speaker.

    Awesome Rugged Outdoor Speaker

This is the first rugged water resistant speaker i've ever actually had the guts to fully submerge in water. The box doesn't state how deep you can take it, but it does say that it can be submerged for up to 30 minutes. I let it take a plunge in about 3 feet of water and it floats! The sound is affected by the water obviously, it becomes muddy and the volume lowers when in water but most importantly it survived the dive and works fine after getting soaked. I wouldn't recommend charging it until it completely dries out just to be safe. The audio quality of the speaker is about as good as it gets for something small and portable. I really am amazed at how loud it gets and is water proof. It is kind of cool to watch the water literally shoot out of the speaker grill lol. Out of the box, I find that it doesn't have deep bass but if you connect it to the UE app on your phone or tablet, you can use different presets to get more bass and tweak the mids and treble. The app also helps you pair the speaker with other UE speakers and even lets your friends control the music with it. The app does have some pretty cool features. With some tweaking the speaker sounds pretty good even at high volumes. My only complaint with the speaker is that there seems to be a "dead zone" on the speaker. The whole can isn't one large speaker, It does seem to have a "360" sound but id say that only about 75-80% of the whole can projects audio. the bottom portion of the speaker does not produce sound. I assume its because the speaker is meant to be stood upright so in most situations you will not notice it. I only noticed it because i picked it up to put it on a stand that was above shoulder height. All in All, this is one of my favorite speakers I've used and I can recommend this to someone who likes to have a speaker while doing anything outdoors. Whether it be on your bike, while camping, swimming, or chilling at the beach. It is super rugged and I think will be able to tag along with you at just about any outdoor activity

The sound quality is very crisp and full sounding. A nice feature is the 360 sound, so it pushes sound in all directions. So I was out on my deck, and it started to rain. Because this is waterproof, I didn't have to worry about it getting wrecked. It can float down a river and it will still work. Granted, I never tried that, but they built it that way, so I'll take the manufacturer's word for it. I have been at the pool, and wanted to change the song, or skip the one I'm on, or turn up the volume, but with other speakers you have to dry off and grab your phone. Not with this guy: you can touch the top (magic button) of the unit and make it advance to the next song (skip) or pause it, and even play. There is a big + and - button that you can control the volume with. There is an app that I would suggest you download. There are several different ones for different Ultimate Ears speakers so make sure to read your instructions. In the app there is an equalizer, and also allow friends to be the DJ where they can stream to it as well. You can connect up to 150 speakers. Not sure who would have that many,, but still possible. The fact that you can have several connected is pretty nice, as most only allow 1 Bluetooth connection at a time. The app also wants you to download the Deezer app, which is a song streaming app. It has channels and songs and asks you what sort of songs you like, so it suggests things for me. Sort of like Google Play Music, but seems more in-depth. Overall, it is a great speaker. I did a sound test with another top speaker, and asked my wife which was better. I'd play one, then the other, a d mix them up and ask which was better. She couldn't tell the difference, as I was mixing them up.

I have always loved the UE BOOM series. First, bomb name. Next, I really loved the 360 degree sound. With the Boom 3, they really have outdone themselves. I really like the box it came in. The unboxing experience nowadays is just as part of the whole package as the product itself. The Boom does not disappoint. It's a pretty compact little package. You take off 2 stickers and the cover slides off. You open the box and the speaker sits there. It is gorgeous. I loved the cylindrical look of the Boom 2. The 3 is just a complete cylinder. It has a modern look to it and really looks nice anywhere you place it. It has the trademark + and -. Pairing is really easy. It recommends that you download their app when you first pair. I would recommend the app! It is really well made and user friendly which is not something that I can say with all the other speaker apps. You can control the equalizer settings. Best of all, you can turn on/off and control the volume of the speaker with the app! You can also get firmware updates and the usual. Really like the app. The charging cable is micro-USB. It's a fairly long white cable. Looks nice. There is no power block so you'll have to find some old phone power brick you're not using or something. The speakers are also waterproof and float! If you want to be that guy at the pool, be my guest. This speaker lets you do that! The sound quality is great! Still has the 360 degrees of sound. The volume is loud enough to fill a room. Really lives up to the BOOM name. You can fiddle with the equalizer settings to really match your tastes. I do think that the vocal clarity is a little lacking but it doesn't take away from the whole experience. It has a great battery life! They advertise 15. I would say I definitely got around that much. I think these speakers are awesome and well worth it! Considering that they're cheaper than even the Boom 2 right now, I would say this a great buy and absolutely worth it. All in all, I would definitely recommend this.

So this Bluetooth speaker is a bit different then others that have recently come out. Compact tube design, about the size of 20oz soda bottle. LOUD!!!! This CRANKS the tunes on full volume, almost too loud for a table. Per the packaging, you can link 2,3,150+ of these together... I only own one, so can test it... but have done it with other products, and that is a MAJOR advantage. You could wireless connect these, and spread an entire field area with just these small speakers, all in sync. Back to this single speaker: - has a screw in option in the base, so you can mount it to a standard camera tri-pod. Don't think that is a big deal, think about it... you can take it and place it anywhere, and it doesn't have to be on a table. It can be in the corner of the tent, or just out in the open. - Big power and volume buttons, you won't be searching for these. - LONG provided cord. While it has an impressive battery life (ran it for 6 hours, and still didn't kill it)… you can take this cord, and add any size battery pack (or even a wall outlet), with no problem. You do need to provide the power adapter though, not included. - So my FAVORITE feature, the 360 sound. You can't see the cones in this speaker, so I don't know how they are doing it.... but the AUDIO is the same all the way around this speaker. left, right, front, back, a little left and to the back, etc.. so there is no one place with this speaker that you are at a disadvantage... According to the packaging it is water-proof and floats.... I am not ready to test that yet.... not something in my normal routine. I'll leave that for the next reviewer

Love the box it came in as much as the sound quality! Logitech brought their "A" GAME to the party with this one. So easy to pair (via bluetooth). Even have an app that can walk you through it. You really want to load the app and get the extra features built in the ULTIMATE EARS speaker. Visually the two-tone (grey and black threads) fabric is cool to look at, as well as comfortable to hold and tough for rough play. The charger is a standard USB micro with a long white cable included. There is an optional charging base so you can just plop the BOOM 3 on it, charge and play at the same time. Cool feature: link up to 150, not a typro!, 150 other speakers. Can you even imagine? . (pun intended) The app lets you link two or more quickly. I tested my new speaker while painting the garage door yesterday. What great sound! The plus and minus symbols on the back are actually volume up and down control buttons! Clever! On the top one push on or off. Special center button for pause, skip or via the APP special playlist feature. Even without the great other features it sounds fantastic. No more 50-pound boomboxes of the 70's.

I have always been impressed with the Bluetooth speakers that Ultimate Ears has released and the Boom 3 is no exception. The build quality is once again exceptional and I really like the new texture on the outside of the Boom 3 that differs from the older models as it feels great and gives it a more high quality look. You can definitely tell that high quality materials were used building these speakers. The sound is exceptional with this speaker for the size as it is difficult to find smaller Bluetooth speakers that don`t distort vocals too much or drown them out with base as the volume is increased, but the Boom 3 does a great job with this. The ability to navigate songs, play/pause, and turn the volume up/down are extremely simple which is appreciated. The massive volume buttons with this are probably my favorite aspect of any Bluetooth speaker as they look stylish yet greatly improve functionality. The ruggedness of this speaker is great and the fact that it is not only waterproof, but also floats is so useful as it allows it to be taken on a lake or ocean and you don`t have to worry about it falling off a boat and sinking like many other waterproof speakers. One other small aspect I did want to mention is the loop on top of the speaker that allows it to be hung from numerous places instead of having to mess with metal mounts that make you have to screw it in. Overall, this is my favorite portable bluetooth speaker for outdoor activities as the look, ruggedness, and overall performance are exceptional!

Ultimate Ears makes some of the best Bluetooth speakers on the market. I have owned previous versions of the speaker and have been a long-time fan of them. This new speaker is no exception. It has some slight tweaks that make an already great speaker that much better. The overall build quality and feel to the speaker is great and improved over previous versions. Although the design is only a slight change it feels much more premium and I am a huge fan of the new design versus the old. Having owned many UE speakers, I can say they really upgraded it this year. It is hard to improve and already great speaker but the boom 3 offers deep bass and rich sounds. The sound is amazing, and the speaker allows you to take that sound with you anywhere. Since this speaker is water proof you can take it outside near the pool or to the beach. Even outdoors it has a large enough sound to fill the space. I love that you can use the app to connect multiple speakers at once. With multiple speakers hooked together this device is unstoppable. Battery life is on the shorter end compared to some speakers but honestly it is more than enough. Rated at around 15 hours it should be plenty for any need. Ultimate Ears also makes a charging dock for this speaker that allows you to place the speaker on and charge while using it, then grab the speaker and run when you need. Anyone looking for a durable, loud, great sounding compact speaker should look at this as an option. I highly recommend this speaker.

Room filling sound in a small package

I wasn't sure what to expect from this speaker but after streaming a variety of music through it I am thoroughly impressed. For such a small speaker it can get loud and will definitely fill and small to medium size room with ease. I have 4 daughters under the age of 9 and it is louder than they are!!! It is pretty cool also how it creates a 360 degree sound field to fill each part of the room if it is in the middle of a room. It was easy to connect to and had my phone paired to it in under 60 seconds. I did install the Ultimate Ears app on my phone. This cool app let's you customize the sounds to have more mid or hi and also make adjustments to the bass. You can also setup your favorite genre of music within the app and it will pickup the music where you left off when you connect back to it with the app open. The battery life so far holds up as long if not longer than my last bluetooth speaker that used to go to the pool or beach with us. We haven't had the opportunity to take this one to the pool yet but I don't see that being a problem for this guy. It feels very solid and the rubber port cover fits very snug so I would not expect there to be any issue at the pool as long as you have secured it into the charging port. Overall this speaker impressed me more than expected. If you like to jam out by the pool or outside and want clear audio that can really crank then definitely give this one a try.

I love this Nigh Black color Boom 3. Visually as this sits on the table in a room I love the look of it. Looks clean and upscale without being overly flashy. When connected with your device via Bluetooth it will blow you away. I played various formats of music on this in my home, outdoors, in the garage, and just general family’s gatherings. This little speaker impressed me immensely. The sound is rich and clear without trying to drown you in bass. The unit is easy to use and intuitive with its easy to find volume buttons and pairing. I only had this hooked up to one device which is my iPhone 6 Plus. The sound streams effortlessly to the unit. I was a good 25 feet away from the speaker with my phone and it didn’t cut out on the sound. The range was impressive because I’m used to speakers cutting out after 10 feet. The sound is loud and aggressive if you want it to be but also clear and crisp at normal room listening. I love that there is a UE Boom app available in ordering to customize your listening experience to the sound you prefer. Such a great tool to have available to an audiophile. Overall I would say invest in this if you’re looking for a fun and loud device to party with or just use on a day to day basis. Looks great and sounds excellent.

It’s very pleasing to see many of the reviews fit with how I feel about this speaker. My initial thoughts were positive. The feel is sturdy, durable and feels heavy duty. The speaker has an excellent sound out of the box and was very easy to connect to my phone. In no time I was listening to some of my favorite songs. Likes: Great sound! Great battery life (15+ hours) Connectivity is about 100 feet Downloadable app Can pair up to 4 devices Durable Feel Color options Long USB charging cord Overall, these speakers are perfect on the go. I like the positioning of the volume control (plus/minus). Those symbols are placed cleverly. I’ve taken them hiking and also to the beach and they held up great at both locations. If you’re looking to get an amazing portable speaker with excellent sound, then these are for you. This is easily my favorite portable speaker I have. I highly recommend!

Admittedly I did not think much of this upon receipt, picture attached shows size and all included in box. It was easy to pair to bluetooth phone (iPhone) and instantly start streaming. The sound on this is where it stands out. The volume buttons on the front are obvious to control, and at full volume I can hear whatever is streaming clearly through out an entire house. The only con is the lack of a wall charger, but any wall charger you already have should work. I was able to use a basic iphone wall charger to fully charge the speaker within a couple hours. There is a free app that can be downloaded for better control and features. I have used it a couple times, but prefer the tactile controls on the speaker. Upon power up/down it makes sounds and once paired to a device there is another sound. The top button can play/pause/skip music, or cycle through playlists you already have.

Fell in love with this speaker straight out of the box! It is absolutely beautiful in my opinion, sturdy, aesthetically pleasing. Love the feel and look of this speaker. It stands upright and you are able to place the charging cable in the lower end on the back without any awkward set up. The battery is a beast and lasts longer than I can listen to in one sitting. I have yet to recharge it and its been hours!!!! The sound is rich, deep, and full. It sounds as if there are at least 4 different speakers in this small packed monster. There is a downloadable app that includes an EQ but I'm not really a fan of these EQ apps for Bluetooth speakers. I got it for the portability and convenience of just powering up, connecting and playing my tunes. This speaker does that flawlessly and it has amazing range. I connect my phone and place it down in the house, and carry my speaker all around the yard and house with no missed beats. Volume is pretty impressive for the compact speaker and the Magic button is kind of cool. Very well thought out design overall and I have no complaints at this point. Great speaker at this price range and you cant go wrong with this one.

This is my first UE speaker but I liked it so mucccccch! Qulaity of material used in it is super high, soft fabric all around the speaker gives a good grip. Cobtrols are accessible + & - workes pretty nice and by pressing both + & - you can check battery percentage and also you can check through Boom app on IOS and Android smartphobes. 3 buttons on top of the speaker, middle one is to easily sync playslist and play, pause and 2 presses to skip track and one side for power and other one for BT. Boom 3 promises to deliver 360 sound which very obvious when music is playing. Water proof and has floats when being sinking. Sound qulaity is as excellent as others out there in the market “high end speakers” ipI played classical, pop and alternative rock and it got impressed!

My kids love this new speaker. It has incredible sound with deep bass good for listening to any music. Very easy to connect to any Bluetooth. We did not encounter any issue. It is excellent that this speaker is waterproof since my teens will be using it a lot. I don’t plan to use this speaker near a pool, but sometimes it gets used in the bathroom where water or liquids may splash. The speaker has a hard casing but with a coat of rubber-like material with will help in getting a firm grip on the device when transporting. The size and weight are perfect to carry around. The battery life is excellent and will last for hours before needing a recharge. To conclude, my entire house loves this new speaker, and I would recommend it because of its excellent sound, this to any home.

This speaker may be small but you wouldn't be able to tell simply by listening to it. Its very loud for its size. My daughter is listening to it in the bathroom now while bathing and I can hear everything perfectly with the door open 3 rooms away. The bass isn't the best, but I didn't really expect it to be based on size. The sound quality is surprisingly crisp and clear, even when turned to max volume. It connected to my phone in a flash and the battery life seems to be decent, haven't tested the full 15 hour claim though so I cannot confirm that. Its waterproof also, which is perfect for taking to the beach or pool. I'd say its definitely worth the price!

I love my Boom 3. I have the Boom 1 too, so I can compare them. The Boom 3 has better, stronger sound, deeper bass and with the app one can adjust the equalizer to one taste. The Boom 3 is a little taller and thicker than the Boom 1 but still portable enough to move around still fits my bike water cage or the cup holder in a car. I use it almost every day either with my music or with movies. It has excellent Bluetooth connection, I love that it only needs to be paired once and that’s it it recognizes all of my devices with no problem. Action movies sound awesome on it, battery life is great also. Charges quite fast. I like that is more water proof now, so no worries if it rains or if there’s a spill on the kitchen counter. And if Ultimate Ears made this one with the same quality as the Boom 1 I anticipate many hours or years of use.

Great speaker, but would not work with my phone

I have a Samsung Galaxy 8 and although this speaker would pair with it, play music, play audio from Facebook videos, it would NOT have audio for phone calls or play notifications for text messages from the phone. The weirdest thing. Geek Squad tried to figure it out, we tried another speaker (same kind), and it had the same issue. I was buying this speaker so we could have conference calls for work by calling my cell phone and having the sound play through the speaker. Had I just needed it for music, this is the one to have. Sharp looking, GREAT sound, just a cool speaker. I wish I could have kept it. Had to return it and buy a JBL and that one worked through my phone just fine.
