    A little annoying

I read the reviews and most negative ones and most user issues is about the battery and charging problems. I don’t have those problems (yet? Lol) bought it in November 2018 at sales. Sounds great, sounds clean and loud. I don’t even sure why UE started trippin’ lately , but I really think it’s because of its cheap weird looking app and updates via app. I would recommend you to buy it, to be honest, but highly not recommend you to update it. Just don’t use the app at all actually. It’s still will sound great. So my personal issues about this speaker (again, I believe after update) is that I cannot pair it anymore with my other megaboom without using the app(which means i gotta use my smartphone only) but I don’t listen music from my phone, hello. Yeah I’m still using MP3 players for music, smh. So that feature is gone after i updated my both speakers. And recently I got the issue with the Bluetooth signal. Once you disconnect or turn off the speaker, the device couldn’t find it anymore. Yep. Every time you must reset the speaker with power button and volume down button, so Bluetooth can be founded again. That’s it for now. We will see later. I charged the speaker to the full, will check today how long it will last on max volume.

Megaboom from UE is a nice speaker. The voice is clear and have good bass as well. The size is somewhat big when compared to Boom 2 and a bit heavy as well but still it is portable. I have been using this for a month now and the battery backup is quite good as of now, it runs for about 24 hrs with medium to low volume. But I am facing a major issue that voice from my Megaboom breaks lot when I am playing the music from smartphone via bluetooth. I am following up with UE customer care but not much progress or help from their side. Not sure if this is only me who is facing this or other people who purchased Megaboom also facing similar issue. This is completely random behavior - at time the speaker plays 3-4 songs at a stretch without any issue and at times it will play start breaking the voice as soon as the first song is started. Does anyone faced this kind of problem?

I was reading pretty solid reviews for this particular speaker and was excited about purchasing. Upon receiving, I was impressed with the aesthetics of the speaker and 20+ hours battery but ultimately, I have to admit that I was a bit underwhelmed in sound quality. My genre of preferences is typically Top 40, Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, Reggae, Alternative, and a bit of Rock and Roll. In the speaker's defense, I am a bass-head, which is a huge selling point for me especially for the price of this system (300 bucks), and it sorely lacks performance in bass. Speakers struggle to capture fullness of bass at low and high volumes and average around mid-volume. Picking up deep low bass notes--very flat to say the least and also non-existent. On the brighter side of things, it's loud if nothing else. Not the most crisp and full sound pushed out, but it is loud especially around 4-6ft away. The farther away, the sound quality diminishes. Overall, in my opinion of course, you can keep all the pleasantries--the weatherproof-ness, 20+hour battery, dual bluetooth hookup, speakerphone. Give me great sound quality and clarity; this speaker just doesn't deliver that for $300. Returning UE Megaboom for either Sony SRS-S5 or S7 or Bose Soundlink Mini

Based on the price point for this item, I was expecting to receive a broader frequency range on both the High and Low end.. I purchased two, so I could split the signal into a stereo format. The wireless feature, convenience and size are attractive options as well as the extended battery life. The carrying case, and all of the other features are very good.. Would like to see Best Buy carry inexpensive tripod options (just for this item, not to be used with camera). If the quality of sound was better, the rating would have deserved a higher rating. These speakers are to be used primarily in conjunction with business, not personal reasons, so served its' purpose on that.. Was disappointed that they do not offer an App for IPad yet in which to play music from. Hopefully, in the works. As the trend and demand towards wireless Bluetooth continues, I was disappointed that Best Buy did not have a demonstration area that featured both of these items to be DEMO'ed in a stereo format. The best I could do was trust the opinion of the quality/value of this latest entry to the family based on their word. Was told that this was the best of the offerings they had for now.

I also own a Jawbone Big Jambox, and I would say the Jambox has a bit better sound and deeper bass. I like the style of the Megaboom, the smaller footprint, and the fact that you can link them to eachother, but I'm not sure I'd spend that much for a second. The "360 Sound" I originally thought meant depth of sound, that it would use processing to make it fill the room. In fact, it just means you don't have to aim it, like I do for the Jambox, to get the best sound. It's a decent product though I would have liked more surface controls like track selecting or pausing... without having to pick it up and tap on it. For me, its just good, but would have preferred to pay less since there are other devices out there with equal or better sound and more convenient features. I would recommend it for the decent sound, footprint, linking feature, and design (to include mobile app features) but with the caveats of fewer surface controls and not really a lot of bang for buck.

it's ok but there's better wireless speakers for the 299 price tag. The bass wasn't as deep and voice wasn't as clear as I thought it would be. I tried it for a day and wasn't happy so I returned it for the Bose soundink 3 and that one is worth the 299 price tag I listen to a lot of hip hop and rap and the bass on both of this ain't what you get with a car subwoofer or anything close to it but the Bose sound link 3 has clear sound for those who hear Tejano music or anything with out too much bass. Don't get me wrong you can listen to heavy bass music on this but don't expect it to shake your walls or anything like that. And the charging plug in is not place right if I remember right it's on the bottom so you would have to flip it upside down do charge it me then the volume bottoms are upside down also the volume button don't have the best clicking or response over all I would get his speaker if it was 150-180 dollars tops not worth the 299 to me

I purchased the electric blue UE Megaboom in July 1 of this year. First I was in awe of how great the sound on this speaker was. The battery life and range was amazing too. I was seriously looking into a second so I could pair them. Then today... I went to listen to music in my garage like normal and something was just off on the sound quality. I listened closer and it has that tinny sound when speakers are blown. I have never turned the volume up on the speaker past 75% so I thought this was strange. Maybe this was a problem with just one unit, but it left a sour taste in my mouth after splurging on this speaker. Best Buy was fantastic though and returned the speaker to store credit so I could purchase either another one or something different. I think I will wait on another UE product for a little while.

Good portable product but not enough boom

Great size, Pretty Loud but not enough "Boom" for my taste. Returned this and went with another brand NYNE. Not as portable as this but I really like some bass in my music. I think this was just as good as my Jawbone Big Jambox when first new in terms of sound quality. I do like that this is water resistant and can get loud with it's 360 sound but I just wasn't blown away. Thus the Average 3 star rating from me. It really boils down to how you like your music. I wanted small with some thump and this didn't deliver. There is an app to adjust settings but it didn't help still. The idea of adding a secondary UE Boom through the app is cool too but the bass was a deal breaker. I'm not asking for obnoxious room rattling, but something...ya know?

This product most definitely delivered what it said it would. Nice full sounding audio. The higher pitches do not come in as well as I'd like, but it's not terrible for the average person or even someone who can tell the difference between 192 and 320. What I was very disappointed in was that the volume up button does not work. Also, the case the speaker came in has a torn live hinge. something that a $300 speaker ought not to have for it's case. An actual hinge would be more acceptable. Going to return this unit as soon as I can and hopefully find out this was a severe hiccup in manufacturing. Overall good speaker. Expected guaranteed quality from such an expensive piece of equipment.

Several years ago, I purchased the UE Boom speaker. I loved it and it still works well. I was excited to buy a Mega Boom. The first one was broken and it distorted things so badly that the sound wasn't clear. They accepted my return and the next one was definitely better. It seems like it starts to distort the longer it is used. My main complaint is that they advertise that they. An be paired to hook up to 200 speakers. I have paired my UE Boom with my brother-in-laws and it worked great. Unfortunately the UE Boom and Mega Boom won't pair with each other because they are different types. It really defeated the purpose of my purchase.

    Max volume run time

I don’t know if there’s a difference in colors, but i bought the charcoal one in November 2018 and it’s run time on maximum vol today was 2hrs and 30 min from the full charge. It tells you that battery are very low, but still will let you listen music another 30-45 min i assume. Of course you not going to play it on max indoor, but i personally using it when I’m biking, so yeah it has to be on max vol always. Now I can’t make desicion to buy something else, or just keep using this one.

I bought this having read many reviews about how loud it can be, and thinking I could use this to play music for a birthday party at the park (around 40-50 people). I'm disappointed to report that it simply does not have the power to play music outdoor at any appreciable level. Even at max volume you couldn't really hear the music unless you were within 10-15 feet of it. Any further away and it sounded about the same volume as a car passing playing music with lowered windows. So it's good for background music in this situation, but not for dancing or anything where music is a central part of the gathering.

I really didn’t care about it being waterproof and dust proof. I only cared that it would be loud and that the charge would last a long time. Well neither of those two things blew me away. It’s not much louder than my JBL flip ( which only cost $69.00) and on full blast the Megaboom speaker didn’t last more than 4 hours. But I must say- if you lower the volume on the Megaboom it almost never dies. I got it on sale for Black Friday and I only paid $99.00. To me it’s not worth more than that.

I was really surprised by the flatness of sound from this speaker. It's gotten great reviews online! In the store, the Megaboom wasn't set up correctly, but I listened to the Boom 2 and thought I liked it. But the sound when I got home was very flat. The equalizer in the app had very little perceptible impact. I think the biggest problem may relate to volume. This speaker seems to be designed to be played at top volume, whereas I want something to listen to somewhat more quietly.

Bought for EDC, when I arrived to vegas it worked great until we reached the event grounds. I had it playing for about an hour until it decided to stop working and not give me any tone or sound suggesting it needed batteries. It was charging the whole time. When I came back to texas, the speaker came back to life to let me know it had 80% charge. Dont know why it glitched but this will be the last UE product I buy next time I'll go with Sony or JBL.

I had tried a few Bluetooth speakers before I got this one. I can tell you that it's a solid speaker and can take a beating. Downside is the price $299. You can go with the JBL extreme. It's louder and you can change your phone with it. This speaker is advertised as lasting 20 hours of battery life. What the fine print does not state is that you have to have it at about %20 volume and at that point your better off plugging your head phones they would be just as loud.

The sound of these speakers is fantastic and so is the portability. I bought 2 to cover my whole house because they sync. It took me 3 hours and 3 trips to the store to get them to sync. When i was so frustrated i was going to return them one of the Geek squad got involved found the problem (Updating the software) and fixed it. So it is hard to sync. not as easy as it looks in You Tube. Now I am very happy.

We've owned a UE MegaBoom for a year or 2. Nice speaker, compact, sounds decent, easy to travel with/came in a convenient case. We also own a Fugoo XL Style speaker. IMO, if you want better/clear sound and bass, go with a Fugoo XL. While the MegaBoom is no slouch, the sound clarity and bass response pales in comparison to the Fugoo XL. That's why I docked the UE a couple stars - it's good, but there are better options. You can't go wrong with the MegaBoom, but check out the Fugoo XL too.

The speaker sounded real good in the store but when I took it to work to try it it was lacking. The salesperson kept saying how this speaker was better than the same priced Bose speaker because it could play much louder. I can't listen to it super loud at work and at lower volume it seemed lacking in the big room I work in. Took the speaker back and traded it for the Bose Soundlink which I feel has better sound at realistic volume.

If you have too long of a screw on your tripod the screw will break your ue boom before you know it. It doesn't have a stopper to show you the tripod is too far into the speaker. It pushes into the inside of the speaker and pops the cover off. UE hasn't helped me solve the issue at all and their customer service is done by either zombie sheeple or overseas. The speaker sound nice and is very durable. However it's kryptonite is the tripod screw.
