That's a fair summary. We definitely encourage everyone interested in ditching cable to do their research and see how many channels are available in their area using a tvfool.com scan. In addition, we also provide a service call HDHomeRun Premium TV that provides a few supplementary cable channels like ESPN and CNN. But still, cutting the cord is certainly something that should be thought through before diving in.

Thanks for the review! Unfortunately, the Roku player requires quite a lot of buffer, so it will always take a long time to load compared to other platforms. You may notice it takes a while to load on any other apps as well.

We will definitely take your TV guide note into consideration for when we developer our own official app.

thank you for the review, but a bit more clarity would be appreciated. The HDHomeRun Duo depends on an antenna to get channels. It can out compete an antenna hooked directly to a TV, but that's because the antenna can be placed far away from the TV, higher up, where the TV signals are stronger. So perhaps better than an antenna connected directly to a TV could be a better description? Either way, again, thanks for the review!

Hi Bryan, if you install our app, you will see our Channels Slice guide, which provides you with a full guide for all your channels. You can also install the apps of third parties that work with the HDHomeRun, many of whom also provide TV guides. Depending on your network, buffering can definitely be a problem. A few good solutions are two connect all your devices with ethernet, or expand your network with a mesh using something like Google Wifi. Alternatively, the EXTEND can transcode from Over the Air MPEG-2 to a more manageable h264 format that works on wifi networks better. If you contact our support at support@silicondust.com, they can probably give you a really good idea what exactly is causing the buffering.

We will review our marketing, but we want to be very clear that the HDHomeRun cannot grab more Over The Air channels from an antenna than any other device. The purpose of this device to be able to watch those channels on any device in your home and record them for the future. With that said, we do now offer a service called Premium TV which allows you to supplement your Over the Air channels with a selection of cable channels. But that service is totally optional.
